Syncing & Push Notifications

Update my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.  Initially my problem with the update was push notifications.  I did a "Restore iPhone" from iTunes hoping that would fix things, it didn't.  Then I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes - that's where everything went wonky.  Not only will my phone not stop syncing now but I can't load any music on it.  It keeps getting hung up when backing up to my computer: "Waiting for changes to be applied".  Just keeps going and going and going....
If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

This was resolved by resetting my phone from the phone itself as opposed to iTunes.

  • Sync + Push Notification = Instant On?

I was adding new movies to my iOS4 3GS when I got a push notification from one of my games. After the movies synced and ended, the notification activated my application. Is this a new feature? Instant on?

Found the solution without deleting or logging out.
Tap Recent to bring up your conversation history.
Tap the Edit button at the top of the screen.
Tap the check icon at the top right of the screen and select Mark All As Read.
You can also tap Yes, don’t ask again so that next time you only need to tap the Edit button and the check icon to mark all your received conversations as “read”.
At first you may not see any changes, but when you leave the Recent tab, things will update.

  • When opening apps a message pops up saying access iTunes to receive push notifications. Already tried syncing any other suggestions

I updated my iPhone a week ago and everything was working fine. I got on my PC laptop yesterday and there was a notification for an iTunes update. When I tried to update my Internet was down and the update cancelled. I called my ISP and they fixed the problem, but up until I got the update installed my phone kept beeping like there was a push notification even when there wasn't. Every time I open an app it tells me to access iTunes to receive push notifications. I synced my phone today, but I still receive the message and I'm unable to get notifications from any of my apps.

The same with me, i did restore, the problem was fix. But it came over and over again. Annoying pop up!

  • Send Push Notification after Sync Service Updates SQL Database

I am using Sync Services to synchronize an on-premise database with an Azure SQL Database.  The Azure database is never updated directly - only through the sync service.    I'd like to send a push notification to a mobile app whenever the
Sync Service changes the Azure database.  How can I do that?  Thanks very much.
    Howard

    Hello,
When you say "Sync Service", did you means Sync Framework?
If so, the issue is more relater to the Sync Framework development, I suggest you post the question in the following forum:

  • Push notifications/Sync not working after NK1

After the NK1 update my battery life has improved slightly, but I am no longer getting Push notifications from any google services.
In order to get messages or emails I need to manually go into the Hangouts or Gmail apps and refresh them. Sync is turn on for Google, and both apps have notifications turned on. I have already cleared the data from the apps and restarted the phone multiple times.
Any suggestions? Anybody else with the same problem? Thanks in advance

There are hundreds or people wih this exact same problem and apple has no interest in fixing it or publicly giving and answer to the issues.
They Botched this release big time.  I look forward to having tp wipe my 64gb iPad and start from scratch.  Oh boy do I!!

  • Since update to iOS 7, every time I open an app a pop up message telling me to connect to iTunes to use push notifications comes up. EVERY TIME! How do I make it stop???

Since update to iOS 7, every time I open an app a pop up message telling me to connect to iTunes to use push notifications comes up. EVERY TIME! How do I make it stop???

Do you use iTunes with your iPad and if so, have you tried syncing your iPad with iTunes since you updated the iOS?

  • Upon transferring from 4s to 5s, some push notifications stopped. How do I get them back?

I transferred my data from my old iPhone 4s to my new iPhone 5s and some of my push notifications (like from AP Mobile, Dark Sky, Weather) stopped working. These notifications still arrive on my iPad 3, so that's how I know that there are notifications that I am missing.
What I've tried: I've deleted, for example, the AP Mobile app, restarted the phone and then reinstalled the app from the cloud. I've repeatedly turned off its settings and turned them on in the Notification area of Settings. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Should I have done a sync with iTunes after I deleted the app?
What still works: turning on an app's push notifications for the first time works as expected, and the push notifications from Apple's own iOS7 apps work fine.

  • Syncing Mail Notifications Between Mac and iPhone

    Hi
I been having this problem with the mail notifications not syncing between the Mail.app on my MacBook Pro and iPhone. Let me explain:
When I get a new email, I hear the sound and see the red notification icon appear on both the MacBook and the iphone. When it comes to checking the new email, here are the two possible scenarios:
    a) If I check the new email on my phone, the red notification icon disappears from BOTH the iphone and the MacBook.
    b) If I check the new email on my MacBook, the red notification disappears from the MacBook but DOESN'T disappears from the iPhone (that is until I open the app). This happens with both cases, when the app is "running" in the background or when it is complety closed.
I don't know if I am crazy but I am pretty sure that both of the notifications used to disappear before, no matter where I checked the mail.
I tried deleting and creating the email again on my phone, and it didn't work.
Here some info that could help find a solution:
    - I'm using icloud email (@me.com)
    MacBook
    -Mountain Lion
    iPhone:
    - iOS 6 (this problem started before the upgrade)
    - Push is on.
    - Fetch (that suppodselly would be used only if push is off) is set to Manually.
    - On the "Advanced" sub-menu inside the Mail settings, Push is also selected.
Hopefully this can actually be fix and I can prove myself that I was not crazy!!
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Anyone find a fix for this problem? I've been waiting for this since notification syncing was announced a couple years ago with iOS 6. I use iCloud for my email and find it very frustrating that when I read an email on my Mac or on iCoud.com that it doesn't automatically dismiss the notifications for those emails on my iOS devices until I open the mail app on each iOS device. Notification syncing works great with other apps. With iMessages, for example, when I read a message on my Mac running Yosemite, the notifications disappear on my iOS devices without opening the messages app (badge app icon, home screen notifications and notification center). Why can't they figure this out with email? I remember at my old job, I had an exchange account that properly synced mail notifications between devices, but it has never worked with my iCloud email. I wonder if I am just missing a particular setting or if Apple just blew it here. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  • Apps in iTunes disappear; 'Connect to iTunes to Use Push Notifications'

Right, I synced my iphone up a while back to add a song to my phone.
Since then, I've had several problems I have yet to resolve:
    1) I keep getting 'Connect to iTunes to Use Push Notifications.'
I searched through the forums and have yet to find a solution, nothing seems to work. Tried changing sims, rebooting/resyncing, messing with the notifications, etc., etc., etc. Nothing has worked.
    2) I keep getting a notification when I try to do anything from my Macbook to my iphone that says my phone is not synced to my library, would I like to sync to my library now' or something to that effect. It doesn't matter how many times I add it, it will not recognise it.
    3) All the apps I had downloaded that are associated with my iPhone, my iTouch, and my iPad have deleted themselves. I plug in the iPhone, all it recognises is the apps it came with, nothing else.
The iPad and iTouch are not giving the pop up for the Push Notifications because I have not synced them in a while.
Phone is a 3gs, running 5.1.1. I would prefer not to upgrade to the 6.0 if possible, I have heard terrible things about the upgrade from friends and would really prefer not to upgrade until all the bugs are fixed. Also, I'm reading other posts online that say they're still having the problem after upgrading to 6.0, and I don't want extra frustrations with the upgrade as well as all this. iPhone is NOT jailbroken, has never been jailbroken.
    Macbook Pro is running 10.6.8.
iTunes is running the newest version 10.7
Some of you must have had this problem, any help would be appreciated, that pop-up for Push Notifications is really driving me insane.
    Help!
    thanks

Did you get any help on this? From what I can see from surfing this site, it's a BUG that no one has offered a solution to. It sometimes happens after a 'reset' and going to ITunes does not offer a way to 'set up push notifications'.

  • IPhone 4 push notification delay

    Hi guys,
I have a problem with iPhone push notifications for the last two weeks. I use the same wifi network at home and in the office and the same devices (MacBook Pro with retina display, iPad 3rd gen and iPhone 4). While the iPad and MacBook Pro receive iMessages, Emails, Twitter and Facebook notifications and all the other notifications at the same time, the iPhone receives it 5–10 mins later or even more.
I have push turned on. I have tried to restore the iPhone and restored data from the backup (because I need data on it). I don't know what is the reason and why it started happening. I haven't install new apps this time or changed settings etc.
Any ideas? iPad and iPhone has the same iOS 5.1.1. Mac has the latest Mountain Lion 10.8.1 as well.
I saw people saying it's the problem of iOS 5.1.1, but iPad works fine in my case, so the problem might me different.

Okay, if you set up Gmail and Yahoo mail in the Exchange fashion, then push should work. However, there have been a number of posts on this and other forums about the failings of Yahoo push for some time now. I would believe this could be your issue with that. As far as Gmail, if you have push set up correctly in all the areas for that and it is set up for the Exchange version, it should work. I do not use either of these mail providers, so I cannot make comments based on personal experience. As far as Facebook is concerned, I would suggest turning off the notification and then turning it back on again. I use Facebook but not push notifications as it is not that important to me, however there is a section in Settings, Facebook and that sets push notifications.
If none of this corrects your Facebook issue, I suggest a restore. When connected to iTunes, you can click on Restore. Make sure you do a backup of the iPhone, you sync your contact and calendar data to the supported application on the computer and import photos from the camera roll. Try a restore from a backup first, and if that doesn't work, then a restore as a new device. Then sync information back to the iPhone from iTunes.

  • Push notification settings changing on their own

I have an iPhone 4 and so does my wife.  We understand how to set push notifications on our phones for different apps.
On my wife's iPhone, the push notifications for whatsapp and viber keep switching on their own from Alerts to Banners.
We do not understand why this keeps on happening, time after time.  Basically every time the Phone is powered off and back on again.
    Any input greatly appreciated, thanks

I've been on Pay As You Go from the start so it's not a contract SIM but there was a little card in with SIM when I bought the phone that said to change the setting to idata as O2 had just changed it, so I did that, but since the data outages that O2 had a couple of months ago that setting didn't work so looking for a solution I found out about changing it to payandgo and that worked but keeps changing back.
Maybe it thinks that idata is what it should be, but I don't even have to sync the phone to iTunes for the setting to change back to idata, its like O2 are sending a signal to the phone to change it back or something or maybe the idata is set on the SIM and the Phone checks that from time to time and overwrites the way it is in the Cellular Data Network settings screen, very odd and infuriating either way.
There has to be a way to fix this, anyone have a clue?

  • Push Notifications. The Message "Connect to iTunes to Use Push Notifications "BBC History Magazine" notifications may include alerts, sounds and icon badges" keeps coming up in Newstand, also happens with National Geographic Magazine. HELP!

The Message "Connect to iTunes to Use Push Notifications "BBC History Magazine" notifications may include alerts, sounds and icon badges" keeps coming up in Newstand, also happens with National Geographic Magazine. HELP!
I have now followed multiple instructions from this and other forums. have turned push notifications off. Turned them on. Have updated to IOS 6. Have signed out and signed back in, have uninstalled all magazines and reinstalled. Have synced, and updated everything in iTunes.
Nothing works,. Also cannot use youtube.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Lack of Push Notifications since OTA

Ever since I took the OTA Firmware update last week, I have had issues with a lack of push notifications on my Incredible 2.  Gmail, work email, Facebook, InstaGram, Twitter and more all require a manual "refresh" for me to get my emails and more.
I also have this battery charging issue that appears to be widespread on the boards here, but that is another matter.
Anyone else experiencing this push notification issue since the OTA?

FWIW - The Background Data option under "Accounts & Sync" in Settings was disabled by the OTA.  Not only was my Exchange disabled, but I had to re-enter my Gmail address.  Once enabled and re-entered, I seem to have re-enabled my push notifications.
Now about this battery charging issue....

  • Android devices not getting push notifications after a while

We have just installed a new Exchange 2013 setup and started to move mailboxes across. Users that have Android devices though are noticing that push notifications are not reaching them and checking in the ECP I can see their last sync times are a long time
    ago!
If they restart their devices then the sync occurs and push notifications work for about half a day then stop again.
We have no issues with any iOS devices getting push notifications. We have a range of Android JellyBean and KitKat deployed so not looking device related. If I turn off push notification on the Android device and force a manual sync every 5 minutes that
works and currently seems to be my workaround. But this will drain the battery quicker now.
The flow of notification would be simple, Exchange2013 > Firewall > Internet > Device
Anyone else experiencing issues like this and know what to check? We have checked all networking aspects and its not a network/firewall issue.

After hours of searching online and testing and troubleshooting I found the issue actually was affecting push notifications to all mobile devices on Exchange 2013 where their mailboxes had been migrated recently from Exchange 2010.
There is a bug in Exchange 2013 CU5 which I am on which causes issues after mailbox migrations and requires the ActiveSync app pool in IIS to require a restart after mailbox moves to function correctly.
After I completed an iisreset within a command prompt on the CAS server everything started working for push notifications.
Lets hope this gets fixed in CU6!
