Syncing remote app incorrect passcode

I have Apple tv first generation, the remote app used to work! Nothing has changed systems wise, but all of a sudden everytime I try to sync ANY ipad/ipod/iphone I get the error code INCORRECT PASSCODE. So frustrating!!! Please help, I have called Apple Support and have done every trouble shooting I could find on the web site.

So I am assuming you have reset to factory settings, correct?

  • How do I enter 4 digit passcode in itunes using remote app

My Apple TV is out of sync with my iPhones and iPad. I was trying to add new phone with the remote app and turned off and back on home sharing trying to find where to enter that 4 digit passcode the app gives on each devioce when you select Add an iTunes Library. On older version of iTunes when you had the devices on the left you RT click and added 4 digit passcode. On the current version of iTunes I can not find where to do that at all. What am I missing? Running Windows 8 with current version of iTunes as of September 2013. I remember setting the passcode in old version just fine. Remote app is great and I want it working again! And yes everything network wise is working I was using it to start a movie using the iPad running remote app. While trying to get new phone working killed off all device remote access!

There is no passcode to enter.
Why do you believe that a passcode is needed?

  • I can't sync my new purchases, saying computer not authorized, but when I try to authorize it says incorrect passcode when I know is correct. Already unistalled and reinstalled. help?

I am having trouble syncing my ipod nano with my desktop.  I purchased new songs that show up on my desktop but cannot get them to sync to my nano.  The computer keeps giving me the message it is not authorized.  Then it asks for my passcode which it says is incorrect.  Which how can that happen when I can still go into Itunes and purchases songs with the same passcode?  The computer just keeps looping to "not authorized" and "incorrect passcode". But I was able to see my computer is 1 of 2 computers authorized but does not seem to be recognizing this. So,  I called apple support and they had me unistall and reinstall itunes but I am still having the same problem.  Does anyone have any suggestions how to get pass this?  Any help would be great thanks!!

  • Remote App and iTunes not syncing

I'm trying to get the Remote.app and the iTunes DJ to sync so that I can control my computer library from iPod Touch. However, the icon for remote does not appear in the iTunes tray under my iPod in "Devices." How can I fix this?
For starters it is a 2.2 version iPod (volume rocker version) and I have the 3.0 firmware on it. My iTunes is the current 8.2 version. I also already have "Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes" checked in my preferences in iTunes. I do have a wireless connection and both my laptop and iPod are connected to it properly. My iPod was connected before, but accidentally. I removed another computer from the library list and now it won't connect.

Have had the exact same problem since the last iTunes update came through. remote worked just fine before that.

  • Ipod remote app and apple tv sync vs. stream problem

Have been using ATV 1st gen streaming from a shared itunes library for some time.
Now I want to use the ipod remote app and can make it work only if I sync content to the ATV. If I stream content to the ATV, the remote app says there is no content.
However, I can see (on my tv) and play the sync'd content using the white plastic remote.
*Does this mean the remote app works only with synced (not streamed) content on ATV 1st gen?*
(all itunes and ATV software is the latest)
    Thank you.

Connect your Remote App to your PC/Mac
    Select Song
    Select Play
    Tap Full Screen icon(Album ARtwork)
    Select "AirPlay" button
Selcect your ATV as the only Speaker
This way you can stream content to your ATV
This works with ATV II Aswell
I have both and could not stream FROM ATVII to my MAC/ATV I
But using MAC/PC as source and ATV as speaker makes it work fine with unsynced content

  • ITunes 11.0.2 no longer connecting to Remote app on iPhone; claims password is incorrect or takes forever verifying.

iTunes on my mid 2011 iMac is not connecting to my iPhone 5 nor my iPad 1st gen "Remote" app. Homesharing is enabled on all devices, yet my library cannot be found. I made sure all of the devices had homesharing turned on. I tried manually adding the library, and when I entered the code displayed on my iPhone into iTunes, it either said it was incorrect or timed out in the verification process. This is really frustrating as it has worked before, and suddenly doesn't work. By the way, I have made no changes in my WiFi network or routers. Please help, thanks!

Intego's VirusBarrier X6 was blocking my iPhone's connection.
I saw that the program was blocking attempts to connect and took the address off the Blocked list. I instantly connected through everything again. It turned out to be a major oversight and easy fix!
If anyone else is having similar issues, check your AntiVandal software and make sure your devices are not being blocked.

  • ITunes wireless sync and Remote App not working in in unison.

I'm running iTunes on a Windows 8 machine, and I'm having issues getting both these above mentioned applications working together.
I did have some issues in the beginning with setting up wireless sync for my iPhone, but these were fixed by restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service that runs in the background.
The remote application seemed to have similar issues in the beginning, so I tried restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service - and this seemed to help, but then wireless sync faulted again.
After having a bit more of a read, I made sure UPnP was enabled across the board - in my PC and router, SSDP on my PC was changed to automatic mode, all bonjour services were confirmed running and there and I couldn't see any funky rules in my firewall that may be causing me issues.
I did find though, that both the remote app and the wireless sync functions operate on the same ports; TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353. I'd imagine if this would be a problem, it would have been picked up - but I can't find any solid info to disregard this thought. Can anyone confirm or deny that this could be an issue?
    Any other ideas? Cheers.

  • Need help with passcode using the "Remote" app

Hello and thanks in advance. I can't find a place on iTunes to enter the passcode from the Remote app.

    PLEASE READ!!!
I have a HP Pavilion - Windows XP
I need help as well with the passcode. I went to Networking and Sharing center and clicked customize and changed the name to NetGear because that is what it says next to my WiFi on my iPhone but with my iPhone under Settings it says WiFi NETGEAR > but when I click on it, it says choose a Network. Is NETGEAR a network? How do I find or change to a Network? is this the problem?

  • Remote App: Gives a Passcode when I try to add librarty

Just downloaded and then redownloaded the remote app. I have:
    1) downloaded the app to my ipod touch
    2) turned on homesharing in itunes
then, when I start Remote from the ipod touch, it shows the itunes logo and says "no library selected"
I click the "Choose a Library button"
Home sharing is set to on on the ipod
I click "Add an ITunes Librry" and up pops a passcode. The mesage says open itunes select my device but in iTunes my device isnt showing up.
There's no issue with the wifi I checked that the iTouch is connecting via my wifi netwrok
in iTunes preferences my device is listed; all libraries is selected under the sharing tab and "look for remote speakers" and Look for ipod.." are both checked"
    HELPPPPP!

I didn't have your exact problem. I have 3 Macs running iTunes. I tried to set them up in Remote. Two worked straight away and one got stuck saying "Verifying Remote Passcode" until the iPhone or iPad went to sleep.
By tracing the network traffic, it is using the mDNS functionality that the Macs use to see each other on a local network for things like file sharing. All of my machines are getting an IP address from the same DHCP server. My MacBook which wasn't working did have an address that worked for Internet access. After restarting everything, confirming the firewalls were enabled correctly on the Mac I eventually tried manually assigning myself an IP address outside of the DHCP range on my network and the pairing process worked straight away.
After putting it back onto DHCP, everything still works (and it's back on the same IP address).
My suggestion is that you try manually configuring your iPhone/iPod/iPad and Macintosh/PC with iTunes with IP addresses on the same subnet rather than using DHCP. Set the Use two addresses like 192.168.1.40 and 192.168.1.41 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. They should then be guaranteed to see each other on the same network using browsing. You should check the Security Control Panel as well to make sure you haven't got everything disabled.

  • Remote App - iTunes 10.5.0.142 won't sync or connect.

    Hello,
I am not able to connect to my iTunes library via the Remote app on the iPhone or IPad.
The four boxes for the four numbers won't show up when I select a device in iTunes.
Actually, in Preferences is an option missing to let iTunes search for remotes.
Old remots can't connect to iTunes anymore.
Thank you in advance for your help!

My analyze was wrong: If you use a NAS to store your iTunes database, when you try to retrieve information from an mp3 file, it’s normal that you generate some activity onto your NAS. If during this activity and exactly at the same time you have a defective disk, you can see that your NAS reboot and can imagine that the responsible of this reboot is iTunes and not the defective disk.
In fact, I changed the NAS disk, rebuild RAID 5 protection, and after I can see that iTunes run without problem.

  • Remote app on my iphone 5 will not connect to itunes

The remote app stopped working on my iphone 5 and will not connect to itunes. Home sharing is on on itunes and adding new library on my remote iphone app results in veryfying passcode results in the following message on itunes 'the pascode you have entered is incorrect'. I have the feeling that the library is already added but will not connect. Any suggestions are deeply appreciated!

I had the same problem. Reinstalled everything and still nothing. Came across this article:
5 Simple Tricks to Get iTunes to Recognize an iOS Device
    Quit and relaunch iTunes
Connect the iOS device to a different USB port on the computer
Reboot the iPhone, iPad, or iPod
    Reboot the computer
Use a different syncing cable (if possible)
I changed my syncing cable and it worked! Try that if all else is failing.

  • Remote app won't connect to itunes (Iphone 5 & MBP)

I currently have a iPhone 5 and a MacBook Pro and am trying to connect them using the remote app (the latest version).  Both are running on the same wireless network.  I have gone through the troubleshooting items as found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1741.
    I have tried:
    ---deleting the app & reinstalling
---turning on/off home sharing on both the Mac and iPhone
    ---resetting the router
    ---changing the router to WPA2
---turning on/off the Mac and iPhone
When I open the remote app, I can see my itunes library logo and I click on it to connect, but it then takes several seconds and then tells me "Remote can't connect to your iTunes library.  Check your network settings and try again."  I have also tried adding an itunes library with the passcode deal, and that does not work either.  I will type in the CORRECT passcode, but then it tells me its incorrect (what the heck?).  I will do it again, and this time it thinks for quite a while and then still tells me its incorrect.
This has been super frusterating, and knowledge about these issues seem to be scattered all over these forums.  Has anyone had success overcoming this issue by doing something else that I have not tried?

I have this same issue. I can connect to my AppleTV fine but not Itunes on my MAC. It has worked for me previously with my Windows PC but I cannot for the life of me get it to connect to Itunes running on my MacBook Air. I am running the latest software on all devices. Both are connected to the same network using an airport express. There has to be something wrong here.

  • IOS Remote App and ATV2

I cannot get the iOS remote app to connect to my Apple TV2. It connects just fine to the iTunes libraries on my network, but from three different iOS devices I get the same error. The app sees the ATV2 and tries to connect, but fails. The odd thing is, it used to work flawlessly. I hadn't used the app for a month or so and now its not working. I've tried resetting the apple TV (both power cycle and full settings reset) as well as rebooting the router and the iOS devices. I reinstalled the remote app as well. The weird thing is, I can airplay mirror to the ATV2 fine, just the remote app fails. The error message I receive after sitting at the "Connecting to Apple TV" screen is as follows:
"Remote can't connect to your iTunes library. Check your network settings and try again.
I have no idea what changed in my set up, perhaps a software upgrade screwed something up but I'm at a loss I've tried everything. The ATV2 is running 4.4.4, the iOS devices are all up to date running latest remote app.
I Apple TV can access my iTunes libraries fine as well.

Mar 30, 2013 11:31 AM Recently purchased new AirPort Extreme.  The wifi network works fine and all is well.  The issue is I can not connect my Remote app with iTunes or my Apple TV. - I have rebooted my AP Extreme as well as my AP TV and my PC. - I have logged out of Home Sharing and logged back in. - On my iPad or iPhone I add Library and receive a Passcode, I enter in the PC into iTunes and I receive an error message "The passcode you entered was incorrect. Please try again"  I receive this error when entering all my idivices. - I have deleted the Remote App and reinstalled it, but continue to receive the same error message. - All soft ware on all divices are current. - I have diabled my firewall. Who has any ideas?  Thanks MacBook Air, iOS 5.1.1

  • TS1741 Remote App Problems

I can connect my iPhone 4 to my iTunes via the Remote app, but my iPad 3rd Gen refuses to connect.  Any reasons?

    Hi, thanks for the response.
What more info would you like?
I have iTunes installed on an iMac running Snow Leopard.  I have an iPhone 4 (work issue) although my iTunes account is on both the iPad (3rd Gen) and the iPhone 4.  When I installed the Apple Remore app on the iPad and the iPhone I added the app generated passcode to iTunes and the iPhone synced immediatedly, whilst the iPad didn't sync at all and for some reaosn couldn't see the iTunes Library.  I deleted the app on the iPad, reinstalled it, and tried again - the iPad refuses to see the iTunes library on my iMac.
I only have one Network (TalkTalk) in my house, and the same wireless router was used by both the iPad and the iPhone (and the iMac) to connect wirelessly to the internet.
    Thanks

    Hi Peter,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you are trying to use the new HP AiO Remote app for Windows phones to print to your Photosmart 7150 printer.
The Photosmart 7150 printer only supports USB connectivity, I have include the Photosmart 7150 Printer Specifications for reference.  To be able to use the HP AiO Remote app the printer needs to be connected to a wireless network.
If you accidentally typed the incorrect printer model, please let me know which make/model/product number of HP printer that you have. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
