Syncing selected mail accounts

I used multiple email accounts on multiple servers. Some have imap available other do not. I've been trying to use the "sync select mail accounts" feature in iTunes but I'm not having any luck!
I have one account (pop account) that I'd love to be able to delete mail on either my iPhone or Macbook Pro & when I sync have the two talk to each other.
Please advise...
Thank you

The sync select mail accounts option is for transferring the account settings from your computer to your iPhone so you don't need to manually create the account with the iPhone's Mail client.
This is not for syncing mailboxes and messages for an account between your computer and your iPhone.
A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. If you want the mailboxes and messages for an account to be synced between the email client used on your computer and the iPhone's Mail client, you need an IMAP account.

  • "Sync selected Mail Accounts" has disappeared...

So when I go to iTunes with my iPhone plugged in, and i go to the info tab, everything appears as it should except I can't select the "sync selected mail accounts"...now all three accounts run imap, so maybe that's why, but I thought that last night (before 1.1.2), I had the option of syncing all three. Anyone have an idea what happened?

This isn't normal but FYI - the email account sync process syncs email account setup information only from your computer to your iPhone and is in this one direction only. The sync process for this data is not bidirectional as it is for Address Book contacts and calendar events.
Unless you make a change to the account information on your Mac that is synced with or transferred to your iPhone that you want transferred, it isn't necessary to continue syncing this data after the selected email account setup information has been successfully transferred to your iPhone.

  • Sync selected Mail accounts - Exchange 2007

I am trying to determine the limitations of syncing Mail accounts through iTunes to an iPod Touch.
I am using the latest version of Snow Leopard, iTunes and iOS. The iPod Touch is a 2nd generation 8GB model.
I have a GMail IMAP and an Outlook Live Exchange 2007 account in Mail. In iTunes it only indicates the IMAP account. Is this because iTunes cannot sync Exchane accounts. I can setup the Exchange account on Mail and the iPod Touch seperately but, I would prefer to have it synced to make it tidier.
    Is this possible?
    Thank you in advance.

    Is this possible?
No. Your exchange account syncs over the air.

  • Syncing New Mail Accounts

I deleted all the mail accounts on my iPhone and set up a number of new accounts. The old accounts are still shown in the iTunes Info/Sync Mail Accounts/Selected Mail accounts and none of the new accounts. How do I get iTunes to reflect the new accounts.

Problem solved - I was using Hotmail via Firefox and not Mac Mail. I deleted the old accounts from Mail and set the new accounts up. These were then reflected in iTunes.

  • Sync & multiple mail accounts???

I know that sync is capable of syncing .mac mail accounts when using the mail app, but I was wondering if it was possible to set sync up so that it can also sync my earthlink email too. If so, is there a way to have the folders that I use in the mailbox window to save old messages to sync as well?
    Thanks

    Hello Steve.
    The answer is no.
The sync function can be used on server stored mailboxes for .Mac or IMAP type accounts only since server stored mailboxes in the Mail.app and with other email clients are synchronized with the server.
Incoming messages sent to a POP type account are downloaded from the server only. You can select to keep messages on the server when downloaded by the Mail.app or with another email client but you cannot save Drafts, Sent, Trash, Junk or user created mailboxes on the server with a POP type account.

Addressbook synching would be through your iCloud account. It has nothing to do with Safari.

  • Isync/.mac sync and mail accounts

Mail checks 3 email accounts for me. And .Mac is set to sync my mail accounts and settings across two computers.
The thing is, every time I open Mail (on either computer), .mac will eventually sync, and I get the "this is going to change >5% of your mail accounts" warning. It says it is going to delete two accounts, modify zero, and add two. I always just click ok.
But it's getting to the point it's annoying. So today I clicked the "details" section- and it shows the accounts that are supposed to be added/deleted- and they are identical.
Everything else syncs fine, without error.
is there something funny about mail account syncing? Why does it do this every single bloody time .mac runs a sync?!
    Thanks!

You should ask in the .Mac Sync forum. iSync doesn't do any kind of Mail syncing - it's for syncing to phones and PDAs.

I have 3 apple products can I sync my mail accounts so that if i action on one it will do the same on all the others, like delete an e-mail and that e-mail is deleted on all the other devices

    Hello sstan114,
Great question! What type of email account are you using? Most email providers these days offer IMAP accounts (as opposed to POP). With IMAP, your changes should reflect across your devices (for example: if you read an email on your iPhone, it should be marked as read on your iPad). For more information about IMAP, see this resource:
    iCloud: IMAP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2585
In some cases, you may need to contact your Email provider or check out their online resources for information on how to setup your account as IMAP. The following article outlines some important information you’ll want to gather:

  • Sync outlook mail account from the infotab in Itunes

    Hi!
I have selectet my outlook mailaccount from the infotab in Itunes, and expected it to appere in Mail on my Iphone. But even if it shows how many unread mails I have got, I can not find them.
When I open Mail it is like I have no mailaccount ready. I have to select i.e. exchange, hotmail, gmail etc. Did it not sync properly?
Do I need to set up a imap or pop3 account to connect to my mail anyway? Contacts and calender sync's like a charm!
    Best regards

    Hi jmknight,
When you disable contact syncing or delete a mail account from the phone, the data that is removed from the phone is ONLY that data that was synced from that account.  So if you previously had [email protected] added to the phone and had contacts synced from that account, those contacts will not be removed from the phone when you delete [email protected] from the phone.  Additionally, it will not ever delete the contacts from the mail server itself (they will still be accessible at hotmail.com through webmail), rather it just un-syncs the contacts from the phone.
    I hope this helps!

  • Syncing E-mail Accounts

I have 4 e-mail accounts which are set up to sync to my Razr.  My main e-mail does not sync on a regular basis and does NOT sync all the e-mail sent to the account.  I h ave checked settings and they all seem to be correct.  What should the settings be?

        Good afternoon schnackman.
E-Mails one of the key features and reasons to have a Smartphone now days so we definitely want to make sure they're all syncing as they should be. What e-mail account do you have as the main one? Is it in your e-mail folder, or the default Gmail folder? Please try opening folder, select Menu, select Settings, make sure sync is turned on. You can also try restarting phone to see if syncing starts regularly.
    Please keep us posted.

  • How to sync multiple mail accounts contacts

    Please help
How could you sync a pop mail account 2x gmail accounts and a imap accounts contacts is this possible?

Scroll way down Mail's side bar. You should find the sent-mail folder down there somewhere. To bring it up to the top with your other accounts' sent folders, select it, and choose Use this mailbox for -> sent under the mailboxes menu.

  • How do I sync my mail accounts on multiple apple products?

My live.com account will not sync with my iphone and ipad. If I receive and delete emails on my phone, I have to do the whole process again with the same emails once I am on my ipad/laptop. I have 2 accounts and one of them is in sync with my other devices but my live.com account is not. Is there a way to sync my account on all my apple devices to where once I delete or look at an email, I don't have to do it again on all my other apple devices?

    Hi
You will probably have to add the mail accounts yourself onto the iphone see here:

  • Snychronize only selected Mail-Accounts from Outlook?

    Hi there,
I have about 15 POP3/IMAP-Accounts on by PC (Windows Vista, Outlook 2007). I only want to use two of them on my iPhone, however, when synchronising iTunes always synchronises all accounts from Outlook onto my iPhone. It is a bit annoying to always delete them manually from the iPhone (even when I only deactivate them on the iPhone, with the next synchronization they are all active again).
Is there a way to choose which mail accounts to synchronize?
    Many thanks
    Christian

Just turn of syncing of email accounts via iTunes. Note that the emails themselves are not synced via iTunes, only the email +account settings+. So, if you have the accounts you want on the phone, just uncheck the box in iTunes.

  • Syncing two mail accounts

    Hello,
Was wondering if it was possible to sync two email accounts (in essence, the main one I'm using, and to sync that to a backup account), either using Apple Mail or some other mac application. When I'm talking about syncing two email accounts, I don't mean the same email account on two different machines... I mean to sync the folders/contents of [email protected] to [email protected]
Obviously, I could do this manually by copying everything from email1 to email2, but we're talking about 100 folders totally 10+ GBs. These accounts are hosted on OS X Mail Server.

It looks like you didn’t transfer ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist, which is where all the account settings are stored.
That said, synchronization of local mail data between computers by means of a file synchronization utility is a really bad idea if more than one computer is allowed to access mail between synchronizations.
Mail uses a global Envelope Index file to keep track of every message within the ~/Library/Mail/ folder. If this file is modified on both computers between synchronizations, there is no way a file synchronization utility can handle the situation properly.
Another more subtle and dangerous issue is that Mail may use different *.emlx sequence numbers to name the same message on different computers, or worse yet, the same sequence number to name different messages. The only thing a file synchronization utility can do about it is create duplicates of some messages while overwriting (i.e. losing) others.
Mail data “synchronization” at the filesystem level can only be done reliably if it’s a one-way operation, i.e. if the entire contents of the Mail folder on one computer are overwritten by the entire contents of the Mail folder on the other. You should think of the ~/Library/Mail folder as if it was a monolithic entity.
