Syncing the 8330 Curve to PC and MAC

HI! IS it possible to sync the Curve witha PC and a MAC??

Hi CMP and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Yes, it is possible to synchronize with both Mac and PC, however, there is a chance that some of the data could be duplicated.
Thanks and have a great day!

I am a first-time iPad owner/user. I bought a relative's original iPad. I want to leave the apps on it and add my own pdfs to read. My itunes account is really for my iPod. iTunes message says that if I "Sync" the iPad will be erase, and become like my iPods. If I make a new iTunes account, would the apps be erased when I tried to use it?
How can I just get my files onto this iPad, and still have the apps that my relative left there for me?
    Thank you.

iPads sync to 1 computer only.
All media and apps are tied to the Apple ID that purchased them.
Without your relatives ID and password, you cannot update any of the Apps.
I am pretty certain he is also violating Apples terms of service by giving you the apps.

I'd ask that on the iPad forum.

Messages on the mac will only show iMessages sent from an iPhone, another mac, iPad etc etc...
It won't show SMS / Text messages.
If the messages are green on your iphone then they are text messages... Blue are iMessages

  • Cannot sync with 8330 curve

    Hello,
I just purchased a new Blackberry curve 8330.  I synced with my Outlook 2007 once and now whenever I connect i get the error message
    "The operation terminated unexpectedly"
And if I try again I get an Intellisync window that says "Unknown error reported"
I uninstalled my Desktop software and downloaded 4.3 from the website and re-installed it.  I continue to get the same error message.
    My specs:
PC, OS version (if Vista 32 or 64 bit): IBM T42 lenovo laptop, XP service pack 2
Version of Desktop manager: 4.3 - just downloaded from website
Model phone and device OS: curve 8330 v4.3.0.127 (platform 3.1.0.73)
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
    Nice post, very specific!
I would first do a clean uninstall of the software with the following, multiple installs cleanup.
     http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB10178&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
Reinstall the desktop software, and try to sync, if unsuccessful, see this link:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB10178&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
    Three questions:
Are you using a connector in Outlook?
Is the laptop in a docking station?
    Particular reason you downloaded 4.3?

  • How do I sync my contacts from my phone and Mac?

How do I sync my contacts from my iPhone and my Mac?

    Mike G. wrote:
As far as I can tell this has been disabled in Mavericks (and possibly slightly earlier). Apple now wants you to get an iCloud account and upload all of your contacts to their server.
The way this works is: 1. create an icloud accout 2. set up your mac to sync its contacts with that icloud account 3. set up your iphone to sync its contacts with that same icloud account. (Be careful when synching the first time that you don't overwrite the device's contacts with the initially blank set of clontacts in icloud). The result is that you have synched the contacts between your iphone and your mac (and Apple gets a copy as well).
    -Mike
Now I understand. In step #2 above "set up your mac to sync its contacts with that icloud account" means "select all the 'on my mac' contacts and drag them onto the iCloud account so that they become iCloud contacts". There is no "setting" to sync "on my mac" contacts to iCloud.
As I tried to note on another thread about this where I was, unfortunately, openly mocked for having difficulty with it, this doesn't always go as smoothly as one would like and it can, at times, appear that you can't drag a contact from "on my mac" to iCloud.
I have several hundred google contacts and several hundred "on my mac" contacts, as well as the iCloud acount. (A consequence of being a very long time Apple user and a very reluctant iCloud adopter. Until a serious phone failure yesterday I'd always just had the contacts sync via iTunes and then grandfathered from phone to phone once that feature was removed by building the new phone from the old phone's back up.)
The Contacts app is in constant network communication with the google servers and the iCloud servers. When you're working with this many contacts at one time, network lag in those communications (is my best guess) can cause the application itself to cease to function in a quick and obvious way, often creating the appearance that you can't drag a particular contact (or group of contacts) from one place to another. You try to drag and nothing happens. You don't get an error or a warning, you don't get the situation where you can drag it but you can't get it to select a group (because the contact is already in there) you get nothing at all.
If this happens often enough it can lead one to believe that contacts must be moved individually and manually, but that is not the case. You just have to let your network connection catch up, and try again.
Also note that if you drag a group of contacts and some of them are already in iCloud you'll get a warning about potential duplicates. You'll get a set of choices about which one to keep, or both, or update. You can't actually see the contents of the two duplicates while you make this choice. If you get this warning, I would highly recommend choosing "cancel", confirming that your local copy is correct, complete and up to date, and then do the select and drag again and then pick the "update" option -- either nothing will happen because iCloud was also correct, complete and up to date, or you'll update iCloud, but nothing bad can happen that way.
I'm so glad they took away the direct syncing with the Contacts app via iTunes. This new method is so much easier to use

  • ICal won't sync with iCal from other computer and .Mac

I am trying to snyc my ical on my desktop with the ical on my laptop. I use my ical on my laptop most often so its data is most upto date, but I would like to have it so that no matter which one I look at its the same, and if I change something on one it will update on both.
I thought that is what would happen with .Mac and syncing. But when I try to sync my desktop it says that it won't sync the calander because of inconsist data, but it won't tell me what they are.
It says to confirm that your computer's data is valid, (its not, but how do I confirm or not?). Then it says to reset calendars on .Mac in the system preferences when I try to do that it gives me an icon of computer and .mac, and an arrow saying in what direction I'm assuming data will go. I choose .mac, to computer and it still comes up with the same problem.
So how do I fix? Once I fix will it merge data on both or will it always be thinking take the .mac data and replace it? It scares me when it says are you sure you want to do this and its changable if you do. I don't want to loose the data on my laptops calander.
Is there a way to clear my desktop ical, and then sync it and get my laptop's data and start from scratch? And then do mutual merges after that?
It says to check that my info on the computer is correct and then to reset it in .mac preferences. The data on the desktop isn't correct but even if I reset, it won't

I'm having massive problems with syncing via .mac with two local Macs - nothing I have tried has worked as yet and it's currently under investigation with a .mac specialist.
I did used to get the 'inconsistent data' warning but that has somehow disappeared - now I don't get any warnings and .mac says both Macs are synced but I get nothing updated to iCal from either direction...
So I don't as yet have an answer but just to let you know that if you get in touch with Apple they will support you with finding an answer.
In the meantime have a look at these links for more self-help:
    http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/02/25/how-to-truly-reset-your-mac -sync-data
Note that iSync also plays a large part, not just .mac and iCal - you need to 'reset sync data' in iSync/preferences.
Plus some of the help stuff that Apple sent me:
You may need to reset sync data again on .Mac and on all of the computers with which you are syncing.
First, it's important to back up any data that you wish to keep. For more information, please see:
How to back up and restore your important Mac OS X 10.4 files (applies to 10.5 too)
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n301239
Mac OS X 10.5: When to use Time Machine or .Mac Backup to back up data
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n307050
Before proceeding, you may find it helpful to print this email and the above articles so that you can consult them during this process.
Next, using a computer that has Mac OS X v10.5 or later, unregister the other computers, including any Mac OS X v10.4 computers you may be using. (To find out which version of Mac OS X is installed, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.)
Here's how to unregister the other computers from the computer that has Mac OS X v10.5 or later:
    1) Open System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click Sync, then click the Advanced button.
    3) Click once on one of the computers in the list and click Unregister. Follow the onscreen instructions to unregister the computer. Repeat this step until all registered computers are removed from the list.
    4) When the last computer has been unregistered, you will be asked "Would you like to delete unused sync info from .Mac?" Select the boxes next to each of the data types listed and click Delete.
    5) Restart the computer.
After unregistering the other computers, sync your data from the computer that has the most up-to-date information.
To add a computer with Mac OS X v10.5 or later to the .Mac sync list:
    1) Open that computer's System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click the Sync tab.
    3) Select "Synchronize with .Mac."
    4) Select the data types you wish to sync. Click Sync Now.
    5) If you are asked, "What would you like to do for this first sync?", select "Merge" and click Sync. You may have to do this for each data type that you are syncing.
After you have performed the initial sync, you should try syncing again. If you do not receive any errors, you can add additional computers to the .Mac sync list by following these steps on each of the computers:
    1) Open that computer's System Preferences and click .Mac.
    2) Click the Sync tab.
    3) Select "Synchronize with .Mac."
    4) Select the data types you wish to sync. Click Sync Now.
    5) If you are asked, "What would you like to do for this first sync?", select "Replace data on this computer" and click Sync. You may have to do this for each data type that you are syncing. This will replace the data on the computer with the data that has been synced to .Mac.
I recommend that you add the computers one at a time, confirming each time that syncing is working correctly. To confirm that syncing is working, make a change in one of the data types you are syncing, then perform a sync from the first computer. When that syncing is finished, perform a sync on the second. If syncing is successful, add a third computer, and so on.
    Good luck!

  • How can I use the same catalog on PC and MAC?

I keep my catalog and photos on an external hard drive.  I have both PCs and a MAC and I would like to be able to access the same catalog of photos on both my PC and my MAC using LR2.  I am using v 2.3.  The problem is the location of the photo is referenced differently on the PC than on the MAC.  Does any one have any idea how I might accomplish this?
If this is impossible, then can anyone at least tell me how I can convert my catalog file (lrcat) so that the location of photos that are currently referenced using a drive and path (eg, p:\myphotos\...) to a format that can be used on the MAC so Lightroom running on the MAC will know about the photos on my external drive?

I have figured out the answer to my question.  Thanks to those who tried to help.
First of all, I found that Lightroom's 'Locate folder' didn't work for me.  It might have if I had tried that the first time I tried to convert things, but I had tried to locate a few photos already, so I was always told that the folder I was trying to locate was already in the catalog.
Breifly, what did work was to locate individual photos using the ? you see on the photo when in grid mode in the Library view and specify that other photos nearby should also be relocated.  By choosing a photo at the top of the directory tree, Lightroom will search for all photos in the directory containing your photo and all subdirectories of it.
    The details:
What did work, was to individually locate photos using the ? you see on the photo when in grid mode in the Library view.  If you turn on the choice to locate other photos nearby, then Lightroom will search for other photos in this directory and in all subdirectories of the one containing your located photo.  This was a good start, but the problem for me is that my photos are stored in many directories below an organizing directory (eg, \2009\2009-01-02) and the organizing directory (\2009 in this example) does not contain any photos to locate.  Furthermore, each of my orgainizing 'yearly' directories are organized in one top directory (\Photos) that also has no photos in it to locate.  So, to make use of this feature, I had to create a photo in at least the top directory that I could use for finding the rest.  I call this a 'FindMe' photo.  I found that it needed to have a totally different file name than any other photo in my library.  So, I created on be exporting another photo (with very poor resolution to keep the size small) and giving it a name of FindMe-<directory_name>.  I also found it helpful to give it a caption of 'FindMe' to use in locating the photo.  I imported this photo into the top directory (\Photos) on the PC.
The next step was to open the .lrcat on the Mac.  Looking at the grid of all photos, I narrowed down the photos to just those that had a caption of 'FindMe' or a file name of FindMe.  That located the photo in \Photos that I could use to start the search for all the rest.  (Note that giving your locating photo a name you can easily find is important because all you will be able to see when you look at all of the photos is just a blank square and I couldn't find any way to tell Lightroom to only show me photos in this one directory, excluding subdirectories (this is a feature they should add to Lightroom).)
Now theoretically, this trick should have located all of my photos.  However, in a library of over 55,000 photos, there's bound to be some problems.  It turns out that my library that started in Adobe Photoshop Elements had some entries that didn't point to the file properly...in fact there was a blank space at the beginning of the filename.  We had caught this problem and renamed the file on the hard drive properly, but a few catalog entries had missed the correction of the filename before we converted this to a Lightroom catalog.  (Elements tolerated the blank space in the file name, Lightroom does not).  This caused Lightroom to hang when it was locating file.  I solved this problem by fixing a lot of these in the PC catalog.  (This took some doing, because Lightroom would first give me a ? to let me locate the file, but it quickly realized it had a problem and changed the ? to a danger sign that would not allow me to do anything with the photo.  So, I had to act quickly to correct the problem with these photos.)  That fixed a lot, but there were apparently still some problems in the library that caused Lightroom to hang when locating photos.  Also, as the number of photos that were properly relocated grew, I found that it took too long to let Lightroom try to fix the entire library.  So, I started creating FindMe photos in the few remaining 'yearly' organizing directories and locating files in each of these.  That pretty much did the trick.
My wishlist for Lightroom new features:
    1.   I would like it if I could tell Lightroom to locate all photos within a directory (with the choice to includ subdirectories) in a particular place.  By this, I mean to go from the directory, not from a specific photo within a directory.
    2.  I want to be able to tell Lightroom to only display photos within a particular directory (excluding those in the subdirectory).  This would make it a lot easier to locate my 'find me' photos and would eliminate the need to make the so identifiable.

  • What should I do if the camera's not working and mac can't find it?

The camers's not working. When I open Photo Booth there's a line says "Camera is not turned on". The same thing in other programs deals with camera. What should I do?

You should be able to select Force Quit from the menu beneath the Apple icon in Finder
and choose to Quit iPhoto from there, without messing up the Mac OS X in the process.
    OS X - Support
Not sure if rebuilding the iPhoto library would help this issue. However if you had to
turn off the computer without the correct method (unplug, etc; instead of menu choice)
the system may have accrued damages and should be checked, maybe repaired by
use of the Disk Utility in the system. Or restart the computer in Safe Boot mode, then
run 'repair disk permissions' while it is running in that reduced mode; then restart after.

  • Is it NAS the solution for a PC and MAC common Lightroom and Photoshop files or Paragon software?

I'm a Pc user willing to by a Mac. Before to do that I need to solve the problem of having to share files stored in to external drivers formated in NTFS. I'm a Lightroom and Photoshop user with various TB photo archibes. I have been suggested to make use of a PARAGON softeware or to use a NAS link to the WiFi router. How would you solve the problem, please?

    Ok.. much more complicated.
There is several things that add to the background of the story.
    1. That you are trying to backup a USB drive drive already.. I strongly recommend CCC to do this.. as you cannot setup a separate task in TM to separate the backups. I can understand not wanting to add another USB and it is older iMac so usb2 only.
    2. Your Express do add complexity.. yes they work better if using the TC..
Will replacing the ASUS with a TC improve my music streaming through the AE's given that it will all be apple then?
More than likely although hard to say.
Is the wireless range of the TC as good as the ASU in your opinion?
No, i have both and the Asus is very good.. but with the Express you can do more than you are doing.
What model Express and what model Asus we need to know to give a straight answer??
    3. I assume that if I simply replace the ASUS with a TC and use same SSID and PW it should be an easy swap since we have many mobile and networked devices in the house?
I strongly recommend you start over with new names..
Problems in wireless networks are common.. and part of the problem is trying to make one wireless router pretend to be another .. you don't fool the clients that rely on MAC address, BSSID not SSID. And you don't fool the main router.. which now is lost as to the clients expecting one MAC address and getting another.
It doesn't take that long.. use a slightly different name but the same password is fine.. I have several wireless routers.. all use the same password but different SSID.

  • My iTunes library is on a PC, includes items purchases from Apple but a lot that are not.  Can I sync the entire library (Apple purchases and others) with my iPAD and how?

My itunes library is on my PC.  It has Apple purchased and other music.  Can I sync everything with my iPAD and how?  I'm having difficulties getting the "non-Apple" music sync'd.

You should be able to sync them from your computer's iTunes to your iPad and/or iPhone. Connect your iPad or iPhone to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar via control-S on a PC), and then use the Music tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes to select and sync the music that you want in the iPad/iPhone's Music app

  • Is there a way to sync the catalogues on both LR5 and LR6?

I have installed the desktop version of LR6. Now I have both LR6 and LR5 working. I could uninstall it... but in fact it would be great to be able to work on both, so is there a way to sync the catalogues on both?

    Hi,
I already bought it, I was just thinking that since it synchronized my catalogue when I installed it, it might be possible to do it manually again. The idea being that if I'm inporting or exporting something tht takes a long time in LR6, I could carry on working on LR5 if the two were working together. Just a thought, sometimes I reall would like to work on more than one window at a time.... but it would probably mess things up, right?  The alternative is just to uninstall LR5 once everything is working well?

  • How to sync play count between new iPad and Mac?

I recently get a new iPad, and I listen to music on it a lot.  I would like to sync the "recently played" and "play count" with my computer, as I can with my iPhone, but it doesn´t seem to be doing that.  I have the ipad fully updated, and my computer too!
Any ideas how to do this?
On another note, my iTunes is allways above the other windows, I have checked my preferences and asked to NOT do this, but it persists.  Any ideas here?

Forgot to mention, I am NOT using itunes match
