Syncing the sync applications

Here's a thought, wondering what you think:
So over the years with the development of OS X, building of new Apple hardware such as the iPhone and iPod touch, the method of synchronisation of external devices has become a bit confusing. It's time for Apple to consolidate its synchronisation methods and programs.
For instance, I have an iPod touch and a Nokia 6230 bluetooth enabled phone. In order to synchronise my iPod touch with my computer, I go to iTunes but to synchronise my bluetooth phone I have to use iSync.
And here's another layer of confusion:
If I had a .Mac account (which I don't but I used to), I also have to use iSync but I can access iSync synchronisation from the iSync menulet. But, if I wanted to sync my Nokia 6230, I cannot use the iSync menulet but instead have to go into the iSync program and initiate the command from within.
These methods of synchronisation demonstrates a hodge-podge fashion and it's time for Apple to figure out a way to "synchronise" these various methods. From a user point of view, my method of connection ( Bluetooth, Wifi, USB, of Firewire) and my choice of hardware (iPod touch, iPhone, bluetooth enabled non-Apple phone, Palm Pilot, etc.) should not determine what program I use to sync. Perhaps indeed this is an engineering and design challenge for Apple engineers, but from a User perspective (which Apple is generally very good about) we don't care that it is a challenge for them. Present a solution and implement it! (^_^)
Finally, I hope this User Interface correction is going to happen in 10.5.x (Leopard) and not 10.6 because this correction should be part of the current operating system and not only for the next one.
I wonder what your opinions are.

In addition, the rsync shell tool included with OSX is woefully inadequate. Get up to speed, Apple!

Hi All, Really hope some of you techies may have suggestions for this as it's driving me nuts. I actually have a new PC and a new laptop, and the same thing happens with both machines. With my PC, the first time I plugged my iPod in, I was asked whether I wanted to wipe everything on my iPod, and reload as per the library on my new machine. As I use my iPod in my zumba and dance classes, I was very weary of doing this before I had checked to ensure all my music was in my library, so at that point I replied 'No'. Tunes. It seems bonkers to have to go as far as uninstalling, then reinstalling, iTunes. Is there really no other way to get round this?

thought that it was possible to have the same iTunes library on any machine that was authorised, a kind of cloud-iTunes I guess.
That would convenient, but sadly it is not the case. Sorry!

TS2776 Having difficulties syncing. the sync starts but doesn't get past stage 4 - any clues?

Has anyone got any tips to get synced?

Turn off calendar, contact, and bookmark syncing, and see if your phone will complete a sync of the audio and video files. If this works, it means that you probably have a corrupt data record in one of those databases. Contacts would be the obvious choice, given that that's where it hangs up.
Try turning on each of those (bookmarks, calendars, and contacts) one at a time and syncing. One of those will probably cause it to hang up again, and then you will know which is the problem database.
Once you know which database is causing the problem, you can deal with it in two ways. You can delete the most recent record additions (if you remember what they are) and see if that fixes the problem. Or you can overwrite the data for that particular database on your iPhone using the appropriate selection in the Advanced box under the iPhone's Info tab in iTunes. If you choose the second method, any changes you've made to that database on your iPhone since your last sync will be lost.

I've moved itunes library onto new computer and now it won't sync. I did the back up and restore things and tried to sync, and although I've said yes to erasing and syncing, the sync won't start. Help please!

It means the device is in recovery mode. You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.
You may need to connect it in recovery mode manually using the instructions in this Apple support document.

HT1386 When I connect my 5s to itunes on my Pc the sync gets stuck on either "downloading safari safe browsing data" or "waiting for changes to be applied". Any ideas?

Right, what App are you trying to download? What iPod touch have you got? 1st Gen., 2nd Gen., 3rd Gen or 4th Gen? Also what version of iOS are you running?

Cannot find the sync option on my iMac to sync my new iPhone 6 .

I would first check to make sure that you meet the system requirements for OS X to support Documents in the Cloud. For that your Mac’s needs to be running at least OS X Lion 10.7.5 or later to make sure that everything syncs. Take a look at the article below for more information.

no they are already in mp3 format I just tried that home sharing today because I couldnt find any other reason why they werent syncing. here is an example of a sync I just tried. I made an mp4 concert into an mp3 it came out perfect on my computer.. then I tried to sync it to my ipad with no luck, other than it going on my computer, it did not show up anywhere on my ipad in any area of the music sections etc playlists, songs, albums etc. Its just not there but remains on my computer. thats why I tried the home share today to see if that would help. On your iPhone, go the settings app. Then select Mail, Contacts, Calendars on the left column. On the right column under Accounts select your Yahoo mail account. A popup with show up and then you have to turn the the Notes switch to the off position.

Hello! I am new to the world of PDA's so please for give my lack of knowlege. I purchased the E71X in hope that I would finally be able to drop the date book I carry with me everywhere. The instructions in the manual are very unclear on how to do this. Can someone please tell me what is the easiest application to use where I can sync both my calendar and my contacts? Any help at all will be greatly appreciated!

If you didn't get a PC Suite CD with your device, you can download it from Nokia.com. Make sure you check if you need to download the cable driver as well.
You can also sync using Ovi.com. Just register and specify your device and they'll send you the settings. once you've saved the settings, go to the sync icon in menu>tools>sync. you'll see another sync button bellow the PC sync. click that and you can synchronize your contacts, calendar, and notes to ovi. you can check it online as well.

- Terminate the sync
- Reboot the computer
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Unfortunately just saying "OSX" isn't enough in this case because it applies to 10 different system versions.. You have to have at least OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
