Syncing to Computer, not MobileMe
In iTunes, while trying to sync my iPhone, there is a statement that says it is currently syncing with MobileMe over the air. I like to have my iPhone sync to the computer directly rather than go through MobileMe to sync contacts and calendars.
How do I sync to the computer and not through MobileMe?
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Contacts and Calendars off for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account. This will erase all contacts and calendars/calendar events downloaded from your MobileMe online address book and calendar.

Syncing to computer not computer to iPad.
I want to update to IOS 5 but when I connect my ipad2 it tells me purchased items are not backup up. I have 2 iPhones and an iPad. How do I back up my iPad but not having those other apps, music and pictures put on my iPad?
You should be able to copy your iTunes purchases off the iPad and onto your computer via File > Transfer Purchases . If those apps, music etc are then on your computer then they will be copied back to the iPad after the update - apps/music which aren't on your iPad currently won't be copied to it after the update.
The backup that is made during the update process only backs up your apps content and settings (it excludes iTunes purchases such as films, music, apps etc as they should be on your computer anyway). The backup also excludes photos that were synced from your computer, but does include photos taken with the iPad or copied to it via the camera connection kit - but you may want to copy them off first just in case the backup/update/restore process doesn't work smoothly (photos to computer).
You should also copy off any important documents, file, notes etc (e.g. by email, the file sharing section at the bottom of the Apps tab in iTunes, wifi, whatever the apps that you use support) - the update process should backup and restore them but it's best to be safe. -
Sync fails, computer not authorized.
I'm helping my dad (93 and still messing a out with iPads, Macs and iPhone).
He did the iBooks 'update' and I was working to get his old version back (rocked fine for me)
His will not sync!
It keeps giving the message the computer is not authorized- even though it is.
One time it said if the authorization was not done, then 76 apps would removed.
I deleted the SC folder, rebooted, deleted some various apps on his iPad, unauthorized authorized logged out and back in, did the hard reset on the iPad even did a restore to a backup a month old
NO GO!
Any ideas?Have you tried Deleting those Apps and Re-installing them...

Phone won't charge or sync with computer, not recognized at all
My iphone has always been a bit picky about syncing. But now, it won't sync at all. I can charge via car or wall, but not computer.
When I plug the phone into the computer, it does nothing. I've tried different cables, and every computer in the house. itunes does not show the phone, and teh phone does not show that it is plugged in. Is there anything I can try short of getting a new phone? This one is out of warranty.I have tried powering down the phone, and plugging in while holding home button. The screen comes up to connect to itunes, but itunes shows nothing, and phone shows not plugged in.

Sync iPhone - Computer not authorized
I am attempting to get PocketMoney and GasCubby back over to my iPhone since having to restore. However, it keeps saying that I have to authorize the computer. It's been authorized. Multiple times. Though it never takes an available authorization slot form the 5 alloted. Good thing, too, because I've authorized it already.
What am I to do?Anyone?

I am trying to sync iCal with all my computers and devices via MobileMe. I cannot sync iCal on my Mac Pro nor Mackbook Pro. I believe accounts to be setup properly BUT on both computers there is NO choice to select iCal among the choices in "Sync Menu" on the MobileMe window in System Preferences. Help?
Greetings,
If you delete individual messages they will be deleted from other accounts.
If you setup the accounts as IMAP (which is the default for MobileMe accounts) you can remove the accounts and the other users will still have the email.
Alternatively if you don't want to see the account in the other user go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > MobileMe account > Advanced > remove the check mark for "enable account". This leaves the account and just turns it off so you don't see it and it doesn't send / receive messages.
Finally, you should be backing up your data for safekeeping so even if you did delete the account and the messages magically vanished you could restore them: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
Hope that helps. -
Maybe the question has been answered, but I havent seen an answer in a way I understood.
I have two or three computers I regularly use. I've been with Firefox for years - probably since version 3. Over time I've downloaded old standby add-ons like the popular AdBlock Plus and FireGestures to the more recent add-ons like Pocket and Fox-To-Phone. I've tried to maintain consistency between computers for the by manually downloading the add-ons to each computer. But I havent always been consistent, especially when I download a background program like Sareaholic or something else I dont often use, I kinda download it and forget it. I may later end up realizing "oh I got such-and-such on that other computer, not this one" and so my experience with each computer is unique.
Hence, the beauty of Sync: A take-it-with-you, consistent browsing experience across the board. Am I right so far?
But now I'm confused, especially about pairing, where one computer is added to another so they become linked (ie. synced) in an effort to have the entire browsing experience consistent :
1) I think I'm going to lose addons. And whatever else I sync because Sync will treat one computer as primary when the pairing process occurs.
2) What do I pair to what? If I set up the Sync account on computer #1 and later on while sitting at computer #2 decide I want to include it in the sync account and so I initiate a pairing, is computer #2 going to lose it's addons in favor of computer #1 or is it the other way around?
I guess here's a good scenario. Lets say my computers have the following addons:
ALL COMPUTERS: AdBlock Plus, Firegestures, LastPass
and each computer has the following addons:
#1: AdBlock Pop Up Addon, Download Helper, Pocket, Price Blink, X-notfier
#2: AdBlock Pop Up Addon, Pocket, Shareaholic, QuickFox Notes
#3: Download Helper, X-notifier, Shareaholic, Fox-To-Phone
My sync account was set up on computer #1.
?? What can I expect from initially setting up syncing?
?? Once computers are linked, what can I expect when I download an addon or one computer or another?
Thank you.

Here are a couple of tips as a starter. Choose a piece of music with strong accents. It doesn't necessarily have to have a big drum beat but should have strong hits or musical accents. To start the edit off, choose sync points from your footage to edit to the musical accents. Then fill in the gaps with other footage.
That should get you started.

ICal not syncing to computer...
I'm new to my iPod touch (4th gen). I'm guessing I have a setting off....when I add an event to iCal on my iPod touch and then later hook up (usb) my iPod to my iMac, it will not sync the events I added on the ipod. I checked my .me account and the new events are showing up there..
I've checked the manual it is simply states that Future events are always synced. Can I have them sync to me.com AND my computer?
Karenplugged ipod in, opened itunes, went to info, "sync iCal" was already checked. Synced. Did not update my iMac iCal....any other ideas? This is frustrating me....Thanks in advance...kw

Computer not authorised for syncing with iPhone with IOS 7
Unable to sync iPhone 4S (with IOS 7) to my PC. Error message is that computer not authorised. Have tried all on-line steps to rectify. e.g. Control Panel User settings.
Anybody have any clues on this problem?Hi oxman78,
That definitely sounds frustrating! Let's give this a go to see if we can isolate the issue futher:
First, connect your device and choose the "Music" tab. Next, uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to your iPhone).
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.

When i try to sync my iphone 5c to my itunes it says my computer is not authorized. I've gone through the authorize steps and restarted my computer. It says "already authorized," yet the phone still won't sync saying, "computer unauthorized."

I have a new replacement 4s. I am trying to set it up. I hate iCloud but need it to sync my calendar to my phone. I mistakenly set it up to sync Contacts too and found out it synced ALL contacts which I do NOT want. I used to use iTunes to sync only selected contact folders (one I call Sync). Others are too sensitive to have on my phone. So I turned off "where is my iPhone", and turned off "Contacts" on iCloud. It said it would delete all my contacts on my phone the next time I sync (using iTunes). So I try to sync my Contacts using iTunes and find that under "Info" on the device tabs my only possible selection is ALL contacts with the "Selected" button greyed out. But even leaving all checked, I get the message "iTunes cannot sync information with the iPhone because syncing has been disabled on this computer (my Mac). Do you want to enable syncing?" I hit the button "Enable syncing" and I get the error message "Syncing cannot be enabled on this computer" with "Override" and "OK" my choices. If I select "OK" I get the error message "iTunes could not sync information to the iPhone (Name) because a sync session could not be started". I can sync my music and my apps but get this stupid message otherwise. What gives and I do I fix this? Thanks
Actually I can't sync anything - no music, photos, etc. And it tries to start syncing as soon as I plug in my iphone and itunes is open. It ends "sync" but hasn't done anything. I have tried deleting lockdown files (per "solution" found here). I have deleted all my backups (per other "solutions"). I have restored my iphone 2x. I have done soft boots of my iphone. My macbookpro 10.9.3. iphone 7.1.1. iTunes 11.2.2 (3).

My eldest son gave my youngest son his ipod. He locked it with a passcode, couldn't remember and now it is disabled. Will not work trying to get it in recovery/restore mode. Original synced computer not around anymore, either is eldest. Not worried about losing data as my young son can have it now. What else can I try?? I follow the steps and it still says ipod is disabled on ipod screen. iTunes keeps saying it needs passcode.....
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
Next try placing the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
If necessary:
Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
For MAC or PC
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
