Syncing tones to iphone makes me erase my phone.

So I've followed this https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3792, and when i go to sync my tones, I get a message saying "This phone is already synced with another itunes library, do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this itunes library?"
This makes absolutely no sense to me because I've never even used another itunes to sync with. It's always been on this computer.

It is good practice to always store numbers in contacts with the area code. There is no harm in dialing the area codes even if you live in an area that still uses 7-digit dialing. And, it prevents issues when you travel.

You have a password, so good move on your part. Whether you erase it or the thief does, they still get to use the iPhone as theirs. Which is more important (pick one), protecting your data or punishing the thief?
Ringing occurs at the carrier. Chances are you're going to voicemail after only two or three rings. If you have an iCloud backup also a good move. Re-read my question in the first paragraph.

I am trying to sync custom made tones onto my iphone and they are now all greyed out. Any idea why?

Did you acidentally delete the files on your computer by accident? What operating system are you running?

I am trying to sync my 3g iphone with my first generation phone.

i've 'cleared' the first generation and stored the info and keep trying to sync the info on the 3g. i cleared the 3g and restored it to factory settings but it won't activate with 'first generation' sync info. i get a no service and 'waiting to activate' message on the iphone. will it ever activate? please help.

ok, please bear with me. i am NOT very tech savvy and don't have the lingo to describe what happened but i'll try.
my husband and i each bought the first gen iphone. i dropped mine and needed to 'upgrade' to the 3g. i then upgraded again to the 'newer' 3g. hubby's iphone started to lose battery length, soo i tried to sync the info from the first gen iphone to my old 3g. i 'restored' the 3g to original factory settings and saved the info from first gen. i have tried 3 times to sync 3g to first gen. all the info transferred but i can't get it to activate. is it because the 3g is still 'registered' in my name? is it possible to do what i want?

iTunes is a mess! It couldn't find it's own libraries and I was forced to create a new one. Now I don't know where my music is or if any's missing.

There has to be a solution.
Why not simply make a playlist with the songs you want on the iPhone?

Cannot sync purchased tones to iPhone 5

The first time I synced my iPhone 5 to my PC, it erased all of my purhased tones on iTunes, leaving only 2. I checked my purchase history hoping I could download them again from the cloud, with no luck. I bought my favorite one again out of desperation; iTunes popped up a warning saying I had already purchased this tone, was I sure I wanted to proceed. I said yes out of frustration. Well, I thought I was going to be able to keep at least it this time, but of course it happened again when I synced the phone again. Well, it at least shows up this time, but I CANNOT sync it to save my life. In the "on this phone" section of iTunes, it shows it in the tones section, but with an exclamation point by it. It will not play that particular tone, but it will my other 2.
Is there anyway to sync it, and, even better, get all of my old purchases back as well? I bought them all on my old 3GS, but lost them the first time I synced my new iPhone 5. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the tone is available and checked in iTunes under the Tones library.
Yes, it is also listed under the Tones tab for my iPhone, but it is grayed out.
Yes, tones are selected under "sources" in General Preferences, along with everything else.
SyncTones was NOT selected under the Tones tab for my iPhone. I did so and it synced.

If the basics (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) don't work, you'll need to bring the phone to Apple for evaluation

Syncing Ring Tones to iPhone

I have synced my iPhone with iTunes; the tones show up both in my "Tone" section of iTunes, as well as the "Tones" section of my iPhone....but are not on my actual phone when I look at it. I've tried unchecking the Sync Tones box, then syncing, then checking it again, and resyncing it again. Nothing showing up still. Any ideas?

I've personally never synced ringtones onto my iPhone; so the only advice I can give is to download one of the various Ringtone apps from the appstore. Best of luck.

HT4972 why Iphone 4 in Romania does not sync Tones or Itunes store does not show Tones?

My Friend in Romania could not sync Tones down to the iPhone 4 and when we look at iTunes Store the selection for Tones did not appear in the Menu.
I checked the Apple site and it states that RingTones are available in Romania, so what is wrong or what setting is not correct?

See if you've selected "Manually manage music and videos". If that's selected, even though you sync, only photos will be synced.
