Syncing Troubles again, Lightroom Mobile is getting so unreliable

I am so frustrated right now I don't know what to do. I just completed editing a group of more than 500 pictures and it is not syncing at all. this is so frustrating I don't even know where to start.
This same thing happened to me the last time and I had to delete the app on my ipad and then reinstall it to continue using the lightroom but with all the work I have done now I cannot even think about deleting the app and losing everything.
Can someone please help me fix this issue. You quick response will help me.
This issue is making Lightroom so unreliable someone has to do something to fix this ASAP for people to continue using it. The fix you all provided about 2 weeks ago was supposed to fix this but did not.
Bogoonat20

Hey guys I think that after 10 hours of battling this thing I might have just figured out.
May not be the answer for all, but here goes nothing: (This in fact fixed my issue)
I realized after hours of battling this that it was hit or miss if I disabled or enabled the network on both my macbook and my macpro, so immediately I realized it had to do with networking.
So what had I changed recently that would cause this problem ........ MobileMe/.Mac settings.
A while back I had disabled "Back to my Mac" as it was causing some other unrelated problem and I had forgotten about it, so now that the mobile me update came out I decided to turn it back on on both devices and forgot about it.
Check your .Mac/MobileMe settings under the preference panels and Turn Off “Back to my Mac” (Last tab)
Reboot your systems and give it a try.
Please do post back, I want to know if it was pure luck on my part.
Thanks.

I am having trouble syncing photos with lightroom mobile. Lightroom (on computer) tells me that it's syncing but nothing appears on my I pad. Any comments?

however when I try to sync my older ipod with it and upload some new music to it, Itunes keeps telling me that all the previous songs will be erased
Yes, that's correct. If you don't have the songs that are currently on your iPod also in your new iTunes installation, they will be erased from the iPod if you sync it. Best to start afresh by first transferring all the music on your iPod back to your new computer/iTunes library.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
Once all the music is safely back in your new iTunes library, you can sync your iPod as normal.

  • Sync'ing with Lightroom Mobile

When you sync a Lightroom collection with Lightroom Mobile, where are the files stored. The don't appear in my Creative Cloud account. The files are visible in Lightroom Mobile or Lightroom Web. Also it says that I am using 14GB of 20Gb but I only uploaded 800Mb of files

    Hi Acroperus,

  • Cannot sync photos to Lightroom mobile

I have recently installed lightroom on my laptop and on the first time of use, have successfully created several albums that I shared to LR Mobile on my iPad.  However since that first time I cannot make any photos sync to LR Mobile.  I have removed the previously synced photos and still nothing comes across?  HELP...

I rebooted my iPhone and my MacBookPro. I then syncd just one event; about 300 photos. It worked!
So, I then selected All Photos, and it appears to be working, as I can see "copying photo 744 etc. of 5,116"....and it's moving along. Previously, I did not get this counter, just a busy bar, like it was working but seemed frozen.
    Thanks.

  • Saving Lightroom Mobile synced photos to existing library system?

This should be really straightforward but I can't figure it out.
When I import photos from my DSLR, Lightroom saves them into a library structure (Pictures > 2104 > 08 > 07). This works for me, as it keeps everything together in the one place, easy to navigate and back up. Is there a way I can automatically save photos synced from Lightroom Mobile into the same library structure as my DSLR photos? At the moment it seems to keep the photos inside a Lightroom data file (Pictures > Lightroom > Mobile Downloads.lrdata).
    Any suggestions?

    Automatically? No.

  • Lightroom Mobile sync problem

I too am having trouble with Lightroom Mobile after a few problem-free months.  I'm running LR 5.6 on Windows, plenty of memory, etc.
I have marked collections on my desktop app for sync and I am signed in/sync on. but no sync.  There are no files in the cloud and no sync activity showing on the desktop program.
I've tried signing out and in, creating new collections, deleting all data through Edit/Preferences, deleted and reloaded the IPad App.  Can't think of anything else.
    Has anyone any suggestions?

I am using Lightroom 5.5 on OS X.  I have created several small collections with about 180 images and I am trying to sync them via Lightroom mobile for later iPad access.  The first collection syncs properly, and then Lightroom syncing seems to hang.  The label in the upper right shows "Syncing 150 photos" but does not count down.  Opening and closing LR does not restart the process.

    PROBLEM STILL EXISTS...
I spoke to soon!  I tried adding a couple of more collections to sync.  Lightroom shows "Syncing 814" photos on upper left, but never apparently syncs any.  If I exit Lightroom it notifies me there are 814 images to sync.  When I reopen it seems to pick up and stall where it left off.  These new collections are not posting - this is the same problem as before.
I am pretty sure there is a serious bug in Lightroom here.  I encourage support to contact me.

Since I joined creative cloud, I have not been able to sync. Why the difference? Worked good during initial trial.
Also I had installed the Mosaic app for ipad before Lightroom mobile came out and I cannot seem to get rid of it. How can I get mosaic out? I have cancelled, I have deleted, I have looked through the files for visible remnants.

The sync count is 60 and static. The total number synced so far is 500+. None have been synced from the ipad except for corrections made there on those already synced.
I have deleted the Mosaic app from all machines and checked the library folder and have contacted the Mosaic tech support and they have discontinued my subscription. I still get mosaic messages on initiating Lightroom and sometimes at closing.
I have not tried to sync fewer yet, but some catalogs that I have tried are smaller numbers. Initially, it did well on good connections. Nothing works on my home connections over satellite.

  • Lightroom 5.5 & Lightroom Mobile (iPhone 5) Sync Issues

So far I have been having nothing but issues getting Lightroom Mobile and Lightroom 5.5 to sync with one another.  This is admittedly the first time I've tried this since I don't have the iPad version.  I tried a sync yesterday for the first time from my phone and had an import of around 650 images and I had set Lightroom Mobile to sync only over Wifi.  Started syncing ok, but I guess I roamed away from my Wifi for a bit and that completely messed up the sync process.  Not only did it not finish the sync, but it somehow corrupted the app to the point where the entire app had to be deleted from the iPhone 5 and re-installed.
This seemed to just present more problems for Lightroom.  There appears to be a default album called "iPhone Photos" that seems to never be found again through setup of a new instance of Lightroom.  Instead, I my account is now up to "iPhone Photos 4" now in the count.  In addition, only about 600 of the 650 photos synced up to the cloud and now Lightroom 5.5 for the desktop is stuck with 210 photos left to import and my computer has been sitting like this for close to an hour this morning.  Is there anyway to troubleshoot what is going on or to completely reset one's Lightroom account to start this back to the beginning.  So far this is a very frustrating update for something that sounded so promising to begin with.

    Greule,
When the sync was interrupted on the iPhone the application suddenly crashed.  I attempted to re-open and was presented with a crash report pop up window that asked me to send a report or not send.  Unfortunately, that pop-up forced the app to shut down.  I then tried a manual force close of the iPhone app, (double click the home button and swipe the app away from memory) and while the app appeared to re-launch itself from scratch, it ended up at that report send pop up and shut down.  In the end, I was forced to go to the data management settings in the iPhone and attempted to delete the data and in the end, I deleted the app and re-downloaded from the app store to fix.
I did just do the "Delete all Data" from the Desktop preferences and it seems it cleared out the collection that was online.  I tried to setup a new collection with the same name, but it appears that the Lightroom online library is preventing name duplication even when another catalog with the same name no longer exists in the account and ended up with an incremental number increase on the collection name.  Now that the collection is gone, if I try to re-sync with my Photo Library from my iPhone will it act as a traditional Lightroom import where duplicate files are scanned for before import?  Or do I have to manage that?
To be honest, I was hoping for this to be an advanced replacement of the Photo Stream feature from Apple, but is that what this is supposed to be?

  • Lightroom Mobile Sync - Extremely High CPU Usage/Sync Process Causes LR To Lag

Since my other thread doesn't seem to be getting any responses, I'm pasting what I've found here. Please keep in mind I am not a beginner with Lightroom and consider myself very familiar with Lightroom's features excluding the new mobile sync.
    1st message:
I'm on Lr 5.5 and using the 30 day trial of Adobe CC to try syncing one collection of slight more than 1000 images. Despite already having generated the Smart Previews, I can see my CPU crunching through image after image (the rolling hills pattern in the task manager) while doing the sync. I was assuming, since I already created the Smart Previews, that the sync of this collection would begin immediately and be done by simply uploading all of the existing Smart Previews. The Smart Previews folder of the catalog is 871MB and has stayed the same despite the CPU obviously doing *something*. As it is now, the sync progress is incredibly slow, almost at a pace like it's actually exporting full-res JPGs from the RAW images (as a comparison only, I know this should not be what it's actually doing).
Another side effect of this is that I'm basically unable to use my computer for other tasks due to the high CPU utilization.
    Win 7 x64 / Lightroom 5.5
    Intel i5 2500k OC'd 4.5GHz
    16GB RAM
SSD for OS, separate SSD for working catalog and files
    2nd message:
As a follow up, now Lightroom thinks all 1026 photos are synced (as shown in "All Sync Photographs" portion of the Catalog though all images after the 832nd image show the sync icon per image stuck at "Building Previews for Lightroom Mobile" and the status at the top left corner has been stuck at "Syncing 194 photos" for over 12 hours. Is there no option to force another sync via Lightroom Desktop and also force the iOS app to manually refresh (perhaps by pulling down on the collections view, like refreshing via the Mail app)?
    3rd message:
One more update, I went into Preferences and deleted all mobile data, which automatically signed me out of Adobe CC and then I signed back in. Please keep in mind the Smart Previews were long generated before even starting the trial, and I also manually generated them again (it ran through quickly since it found they were already generated) many times. Now that I'm re-syncing my collection of 1026 images, I can clearly see Lightroom using the CPU to regenerate the Smart Previews which already exist. I have no idea why it's doing this except that it's making the process of uploading the Smart Previews extremely slow. I hope this time around it will at least sync all 1026 images to the cloud.
    4th message:
All 1026 images synced just fine and I could run through my culling workflow on the iPad/iPhone perfectly. Now I'm on a new catalog (my current workflow unfortunately uses one catalog per event) and I see the same problem: Smart Previews already generated but when syncing, Lightroom seems to re-generate them again anyway (or take up a lot of CPU simply to upload the existing Smart Previews). Can anyone else chime in on what their CPU utilization is like during the sync process when Smart Previews are already created?
    New information:
Now I'm editing a catalog of images that is synced to Lightroom Mobile and notice that my workflow has gotten even slower between photos (relative to what it was before, this is not a discussion about how fast/slow LR should perform). Obviously Lightroom is syncing the edited settings to the cloud, but I can see my CPU running intensively (all 4 cores) on every image I edit and the CPU utilization graph looks different than before I started using LR mobile sync. It still feels like every change isn't simply syncing an SQLite database change but re-generating a Smart Preview to go with it (I'm not saying this is definitely what's happening, but something is intensively using the CPU that wasn't prior to using LR Mobile).
For example: I only update the tint +5 on an image. I see the CPU spike up to around 30-40%, then falls back down, then back up to 100%, then back down to another smaller spike while Lightroom says "Syncing 1 photo".  I've attached a screenshot of my CPU graph when doing this edit on just one image. During this entire time, if I try to move onto edit another image, the program is noticeably slower to respond than it was prior to using LR mobile, due to the fact that there appear to be much more CPU intensive tasks running to sync the previous edit. This is proven by un-syncing the collection and immediately the lag goes away.
I'd be happy to test/try anything you have in mind, because it's my understanding that re-syncing photos that are edited that are already in the cloud should be simply updating the database file rather than require regenerating any Smart Previews or other image data. If indeed that's what it should be doing, then some other portion of LR is causing massive CPU usage. If this continues, I will probably not choose to proceed with a subscription despite the fact that i think LR mobile adds a lot of value and boosts my workflow significantly if it wasn't causing the program to lag so badly in the process.
I know this message was incredibly long and probably tedious to read through so thanks in advance to anyone who gets through it

Thanks for reporting. Just passed  along your info to some of our devs. One of the things that needs to be created (beside smart previews) during an initial sync are thumbnails + previews for the LrM app - Guido
    Hi Guido,
Thanks for pointing this out. I realized the same thing when I tried syncing a collection for offline mode and found out the required space sounded more like Previews + Smart Previews rather than just the Smart Previews.
    greule wrote:
Hi Jeff, are your images particularly large or do you make a lot of changes which you save to the original file as part of your workflow?
The CPU usage is almost certainly from us uploading JPEG previews not the Smart Previews - particularly during develop edits as these force new JPEG previews to be sent from Lightroom desktop, but would not force new Smart Previews (unless the develop edits are modifying the original file making us think the Smart Preview is out of date) to be sent.
    Guido
My images are full-resolution ~22mp Canon 5D Mark III RAW files so they're fairly large. Even if I only make one basic change such as exposure changes, I saw the issue. By "save to the original file" I'm assuming metadata changes such as timestamps, otherwise edits to the images aren't actually written to the original file. I'm only doing develop module edits so I shouldn't be touching the original file at all at this point in my workflow.
I think it makes sense now that you mention that new JPEG previews need to be generated and sent to the cloud due to updated develop edits. My concern is that this seems to be done in real-time as opposed to how Lightroom Desktop works (which is to render a new Standard Preview or 1:1 Preview on demand, which means only one is being rendered at any given time while viewing it in Loupe View or possibly 2 in Compare View). If I edit, for example, 10 images quickly in a row, once the sync kicks in a few seconds later, editing the 11th image is severely hindered due to the previous 10 images' JPEG previews being rendered and sync'd to the cloud (I'm assuming the upload portion doesn't take much CPU, but the JPEG render will utilize CPU resources to the fullest if it can). Rendering Standard/1:1 Previews locally and being able to walk away while the process finishes works because it is at the start of my workflow, but having to deal with on-the-fly preview rendering while I'm editing greatly impacts my ability to edit. Perhaps there can be a way to limit max CPU utilization for background sync tasks?
It may help to know that I'm running a dual-monitor setup, with Lightroom on a 27" 2560x1440 display maximized to fit the display (2nd display not running LR's 2nd monitor). Since I'm using a retina iPad, the optimal Standard Previews resolution should be the same at 2880 pixels.
    Thanks again for the help!

  • My lightroom mobile says it has 500 pictures but doesn't sync?

HHaving issues with lightroom mobile. The cloud says I have 574 picture but most of those are blank unless I click on it. Mobile says it is syncing 3/ 574 but just keeps spinning. I have tried it multi able times but nothing! What is wrong?

Could you try to re-sign-in to Lr Mobile and let me know if that helps.
    If not please try this:
First remove the sync.lrdata file and restart LrD. This would restart/refresh the sync (metadata only).
Removing the Sync.lrdata might fix whatever the issue is.  Or, at least, might trigger it to occur again. So remove the Sync.lrdata, start Lr, and then wait until it either syncs or gets stuck again and create at this point a Lr Desktop diagnostic log which can hopefully provide some clues.
You can find the  sync.lrdata file here:
    On Mac it's at /Users/<user>/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Sync Data/Sync.lrdata
On Win it would be at C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\Sync Data\Sync.lrdata
Please send me the LR Desktop diagnostig log  - best as a private message with a downloadable dropbox link.
You can trigger the log via LR Desktop preferences -> Lightroom Mobile and when you hold down the alt key you will notice a generate diagnostic log button
In addtition send me a Lr Mobile app log as well. This can be triggered when you open up the settings and long press the to LR Icon a diagnostic log will be generated and attached to your local mail client.

  • How long does it take to sync to Lightroom Mobile?

I'm very frustrated with LR mobile.  I try to use it to process raw images from my 5DIIIafter they have been loaded into Lightrom. Just today, I checked the box to sync a collection of 26 pictures.  After many minutes, Lightroom says "Syncing 2 Pictures."  On my iPad, the collection shows up with 0 pictures and again nothing has happened.  I have tried this experiment before with other picture sets and I get the same result Lightroom says "Syncing n pictures" where n is much less than the number in the collection and none of the pictures shows up on the iPad.Once, when I first installed LR mobile I was able to transfer a collection of eight pictures, but it has never worked satisfactorily since. I watched the Kelby One Video, and think I'm doing every thing correctly. LR mobile actually reports 2 collections with 34 photos on the main screen, but I have yet to see one photo from the second collection appear and LR still says it's only syncing 2 photos not 26.  It's been at least 10 minutes since I started this and nothing is happening.

    More Information:
The problems I reported on happened with my Windows Desktop computer.  I made a collection on my McBook Pro, signed in there and was able to sync the collection, view the pictures on Lightroom Adobe.com and on my iPad.
I went back to my desk top, signed in and tried to sync and nothing happened. Zilch.  I read another thread in this forum, where it was suggested that you Delete All Data in the Lightroom Mobile preferences.  When I did that, the message in my desktop Lightroom said Syncing 26 pictures and counted down to zero. However both lightroom.adobe.com and my iPad showed No Collections and no pictures.  I went back and signed my MacBook in again and the transfer works as expected.  Is there a problem unique to the Windows version of Lightroom?  I'm at my wits end.  Please help
