Syncing TV shows

Could someone please tell me what is wrong. I am trying to sync a episode of lost onto my ipod and I can see that it is trying to sync the program but when it gets about a quarter to half way through it stops and I get various error messages. One if the ipod cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to. Another message I get is the ipod cannot be synced. The device is not connected. I have the settings set to sync all episodes of selected tv shows and the tv episode is checked off. I've synced music and photo's to the ipod with no problems.
Thanks

I found out what the problem was. After doing some searching around I found out that apparently the touch does not like some USB hubs. As soon as I disconnected the hub everything worked great. Thanks for the replies though.

Turn off My PhotoStream in iCloud on both the iPad and the Mac. PhotoStream is what shares your photos (unless you are using iCloud Photo Library Beta, in which case, all photos uploaded are accessible from all devices signed onto the same Apple/iCloud ID).

  • Can't sync TV shows & podcasts onto iPad2

I'm wondering if I have a bug in iTunes or on the iPad?
All I can tell you is that the TV shows and podcasts that I had purchased directly onto the ipad, were transferred (as expected) onto my laptop, but WILL NOT transfer back. I get no error message, no warning, nothing. I select "Manually manage music and videos". I check the boxes for ALL books, podcasts, TV shows, movies (I have experimented with just selecting a handful, but get the same results). The capacity bar shows it'll use up to 34 gigs of the 60 gig iPad. Then I sync, and instantly the capacity bar shows that only 24 gigs are used, and when I look at the iPad none of the podcasts or tv shows are there. None of these shows are HD. All were purchased on iTunes, on the iPad (which is the main reason I bought it!). And for some reason the movies are not having this issue.
In the past week I just upgraded my Macbook Pro to OS 10.6.8, my iTunes to 10.5.3, my iPad to iOS5. I connect the two with USB. I don't use iCloud (since I'm not ready to go to Lion).
I really regret syncing everything onto the computer! But I figured it was the smart step so that eventually we can control how the memory is taken up on the iPad.

There are no such limits. Are you sure your iPod settings are correctly set to sync the shows. I'm guessing its probably set to sync unwatched episodes.

  • IPod won't sync TV shows!!!!

Ok, so I bought 3 NCIS episodes. When I tried to sync them, nothing happened. THe songs I purchased after them didn't sync either. I had to move the NCIS down to the bottem of the list to get the rest of the rest of the music to sync. Am I stupid or is there a problem with my nano???? Oh, by the way it's a forth generation.

    Hello NCISAddict,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
First, how do you sync content from your library? Automatically or manually? If you syn manually, how do you have your iPod set up to sync *TV Shows* from under the *TV Shows* tab for your iPod in iTunes with it connected? This article may provide more assistance as well.

  • Just updated itunes to 12.1 and now it won't sync or show my iphone 5s

I just updated itunes to 12.1 and now it won't sync or show my iphone 5s.. I have tried EVERYTHING. I completely uninstalled & reinstalled my itunes 2 times. Everything is completely up to date, and when I plug my iPhone into the computer, it makes the normal beep sound, and charges, but will not sync or show on iTunes so that I can sync anything..

    Hey ksooter,
I know you have said you have tried everything but have you tried out some of the troubleshooting in the article below? For instance, have you checked the Apple Mobile Device support is installed properly and if the Apple Mobile Device is installed? Take a look at the article below to double check some of the things you have done to see if you can get your iPhone to show back up.

  • ITunes can't sync TV shows...

I have a TV show which I'd like to transfer into my iPod (30gb video). The whole show is on MPEG-4 format which the iPod can read.
I added all the show (about 76 episodes) and when I pressed "sync" only 4 of the episode has been transfered and I got this massage:
"Some items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod"
I retried it like 5 times and even that all of the episode are in the same format, I have enought spance in the iPod and all of then can be added to the iPod just 4 did.
What is the problem and how can I add the show ?
    Thank you

  • Can't sync tv shows with ipod

I am trying to sync TV shows I purchased and downloaded from iTunes with my ipod nano.  I select "Devices", "TV Shows", check "Sync TV Shows", then then check TV shows I want to sync, and select "sync".   The status bar indicates syncing, determines tracs to sync, and completes sync.  But no TV shows are on my iPod (checking under Video, TV Shows).  I've also tried to drag the shows from the library to a playlist.  They showup on the playlist on the computer, but not on the playlist on my iPod.  I am not having problems syncing music.  The TV shows are animated Bugs Bunny episodes.

    Holmanranch,
Do you have the Sync only checked songs and videos option ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab as well?  If so, that could be a possible cause.
One thing you could try is to remove the tick mark next to Sync TV Shows and apply the changes to remove any and all TV Shows from your iPod.  Then reapply the tick mark and again sync the changes to your iPod and see if that makes a difference.

  • Upgraded iPod, wont sync TV shows

    Hi all
Just upgraded to the 120gb, everything seemed to copy over fine except for the 3 TV shows that I purchased, does anyone have any ideas ?
    Cheers in advance.

    Hey there,
Have you made sure you have set your iPod to sync TV Shows? To be sure, plug your iPod in and head over to the TV Shows tab once it appears and you have clicked on its device name in iTunes. Make sure there is a check mark next to Sync and then whatever settings you want for syncing tv shows to your iPod.

Otherwise, if you have already completed these steps, the videos may not be compatible with your iPod. You will have to use a third party app such as [Videora|http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod> or [Handbrake|http://handbrake.fr>, to convert the videos to an iPod format, import the video into iTunes, and sync it to your iPod. I have used both of these apps with great success. Hope this helps.
    Hope this helped.

  • Itunes 7 not syncing tv shows

Sorry if this has been asked I tried searching and found nothing.
Using itunes 7 I'm setting to to sync the 10 most recent unwatched episodes of the Simpsons and it just won't sync them. There are unwatched episodes in my library. I set it to sync and it says updating ipod and then complete. It moves no files over. If I do the playlist option it will sync them. Any thoughts?

I have this problem as well. It appears with iTunes 7 that only purchased TV shows appear in the sync window. Also, syncing unwatched shows etc. only works with purchased shows.
This is very annoying, but I have created a workaround. I check the "only sync checked items" option and then check the shows I wish to sync. It means you have to monitor your own unwatched shows manually, but it accomplishes the same thing.

  • Trouble Syncing TV Shows

For some reason, all of a sudden my 160gb ATV won't successfully sync TV shows that I have downloaded into iTunes. The sync progress bar just sits there and barely moves for hours, and then it gives up. Anything I can do to fix this?

Just to clear up streaming in v 2:
Anything that isn't synced will be streamed (unless it isn't checked http://web.mac.com/gartside1104/z007/Check.html ), streamed items will appear in the same lists on the tv as synced items do, ie my movies, my tv shows etc.
Still sounds like your issue is a network issue but could well be wrong, thing is you seem to have a few issues going on which make it a little difficult to tell.

  • Automatically Includes # of episodes defaults for Sync TV Shows ...

In iTunes Sync TV Shows tab, there is a feature for automatically include # of episodes to sync.
    The default setting are
    all
    all unwatched
    the newest
    the 3 newest
    the 5 newest
    the 10 newest
    the newest unwatched
    the 3 newest unwatched
    the 5 newest unwatched
    the 10 newest unwatched
    the oldest unwatched
    the 3 oldest unwatched
    the 5 oldest unwatched
    the 10 oldest unwatched
My question is ... can we change the default # of episodes anywhere within iTunes? 1, 3, 5, 10, all options are not enough.
I have TV shows that over 100 episodes but I try to load only about 40 (most current) onto my devices (iPod Touch, iPhone and/or iPad)
I know I can manually select each episodes to load, but I really don't want to update the sync file list each time when I add a new episodes to the show.
I did try to use Playlist function, but the criteria is very user friendly for TV shows and it does not really work for me.
Does anyone know how and what can I do to fulfill my issue?
    Please comment.  THANKS A LOT.

For those passing through, I have found the solution. After checking through various other discussions I have discovered that the video app on the iPad is much, much more picky that iTunes or the video app from the iPhone.
First you need to make sure that everything on the info tap (from iTunes get info) for each episode within a series is exactly the same. Only the name of the episode can be different. Make sure that the Artist, Album Artist, and Album are the same. For the album, use a unique title that is different than that used by other seasons of a show (try using whatever, season 1, etc). Don't forget the genre and compilation entries. You can set these changing these as a group by selecting all of the episodes and change then together. Be sure to check the boxes beside each entry to insure that the entry is applied to all of the group.
Second, on the video tab, make sure that every episode has something unique in the Episode ID. I repeated the episode number here. You can't do this as a group, you have to change each one individually. Use the next button to step through each one.
Don't know if the sorting tab is required to be uniform, but I fixed these also. Finally, there is a bug when changing groups of videos. When changing multiple episodes at once, the Media Kind from the Options tab resets to Music. Don't forget to correct this before you hit OK.
This should fix the TV shows both in your synced shows and when you use the home sharing feature. Good Luck, Charlie
