Syncing Two Logic Setups together

Hi Guys,
I'm just about to switch over to a new Mac Pro with Logic 8 but I'm interested to know if anyone has any experience of syncing two Logic 8 computers together ? I still have L8 on my G5dual and have various bit of software that I'd like to continue to use on it ( some not supporting NODEs and others not working in a stand alone mode. Is it possible to set the G5 up as slave and the new pro as master via Midi MTC link and have them both run together side by side ?

Ok, sorry, misunderstood you.
Obviously, a how to guide depends on how you want to rig it up, and what gear you have.
In essence you need:
- Host software (to open and play your instrument plugins)
- A way to receive MIDI to the host from the DAW
- A way to send audio from the host to the DAW
For host software, you can use Mainstage, Rax, or any other AudioUnit host or DAW
For MIDI, you can either use a regular MIDI interface, or software such as MIDIoverLan to send MIDI
over the ethernet cable
- For audio, the easiest way is to use an additional multi0output interface so you can send multiple channels of audio back to the regular DAW
All this is really straightforward to set up, providing you know how to use MID gear and audio interfaces (and I'm assuming you do, being on the Logic Pro forum).
The only slightly tricky one is audio over the network (ie ethernet cable). Wormhole was the main Mac solution, although I always found it temperemental and unreliable. If you get it working, you can send multiple channels over the network, although playing in real time isn't great (because of latency, which is greater than just using audio interfaces).
Post back with how you'd like to do it, and what your concerns are, and we can go into more detail.

No you cannot sync an iPhoto library between two macs. If you do you will corrupt the iPhoto Library file. iPhoto is a consumer level app, and this feature is not supported.
What you can do is share the photos but not the library. Each machine will need to have it's own library file.
The easiest way to do it this is to enable sharing (in the iPhoto Preferences) on both machines (one sharing the library, the other looking for the share). When you do this the shared library will appear in the Source (or left-hand) pane and pics can be dragged from that to the library in the other machine.

  • Syncing two computers via network session

    hi
this topic started out in another thread, really should have it's own though...
so i want to sync two computers via a "network session".
one is a G4 (dual 800 running logic pro 7.2.2) the other is my macbook pro running logic pro 6.4.2.
basically all i am using the macbook for is to playback a quicktime movie...
now i have successfully got the network session going in "Audio Midi Setup", but for the life of me can't get the logic on the macbook pro to slave up. even though mtc is set up and the logic 7.2.2 is set up to send mtc via the network session.
if anyone has any ideas...please feel free...
    cheers, warner

    really?
    cool.
have been researching this a little bit (not that i have the time - just got curious).
there are a couple of relaly interesting apps out there that can take MTC and play video. one in particular was very interesting....check this out:

  • I synced two of my email accounts via gmail's POP3 thing. But now my iphone's gmail inbox shows a random selection of emails (not most recent ones that are in my inbox). How can I make my iphone inbox match what I see when I log on using a PC?

I synced two of my email accounts via gmail's POP3 capabilities. But now my iphone's gmail inbox only shows a random selection of emails (i.e. right now it is May 31, 2013 but the emails in my inbox are a couple from Nov 12, a few from Oct 12, and then some way older than that and so on.When I log into my gmail from a computer, I see all my emails in the logical, standard order. How can I make my iphone inbox match what I see when I log on using a PC?

If you're trying to decide between using POP and IMAP, we encourage you to use IMAP.
Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between your web Gmail and your email client. This means when you log in to Gmail using a web browser, actions you perform on email clients and mobile devices (ex: putting mail in a 'work' folder) will instantly and automatically appear in Gmail (ex: it will already have a 'work' label on that email the next time you sign in).
IMAP also provides a better method to access your mail from multiple devices. If you check your email at work, on your mobile phone, and again at home, IMAP ensures that new mail is accessible from any device at any given time.
Finally, IMAP offers a more stable experience overall. Whereas POP is prone to losing messages or downloading the same messages multiple times, IMAP avoids this through two-way syncing capabilities between your mail clients and your web Gmail.
That is from the page that you linked- does highlighted part of message ring a bell?

If it is in your itunes on your computer, then select it to sync just like everything else that you sync.
The music must be on your computer.

I have two bolds and are trying to sync them both with the same contact list.
The first bold has all the contacts and I sync that phone using the BB Desktop manager setup with Outlook Express main identity.
When I try to sync the second bold with the same setttings, outlook express and main identity, none of the contacts transfer to the new bold, why?
What is the best way to sync two phones to the same contact list?

  • Access a java card via two logical channels

    Dear all;
I was wondering if someone managed to do following setup(because it doesn't work for me):
I have an android phone with a sd-card slot in which I've inserted a java card. I can open a logical channel from my android phone to the java card. Since the java card also suports T=CL, I'm also able to open a logical channel from a pc to the java card via a contactless interface (with a reader that is connected to the pc). But what seams to be impossible is opening the two logical channels simultaniously. So I can't open simultaniously a logical channel from the android phone to the java card and a logical channel via the contactless interface.
Did anyone have succes with this setup? (I made the applet multiselectable)
    greets,
    JT

If you are trying to connect to the card over both the NFC controller (card emulation) and the device interface from Android at the same time you will probably have a race condition. On the phones I have used, you can only have one active at time.

  • Syncing two macs: what will work without icloud?

Hello. I'm considering buying a second mac, or finding a totally different solution. One of the key questions is: can i still sync two macs; or: what, if anything at all, will sync, what won't without using icloud (which is  totally out of the question, and please no debate on that in this thread, i simply want to know the facts).
    Thanks a lot

you may be right. The decimus guys however don't even get their own web site together, which doesn't inspire a lot of trust. Besides, what I really want synchronized, and what I don't see in their list, is iCal, Address Book, everything that happens in mail (sent mail appear as sent on both machines even outside imap accounts), and of course it would help to have everything in like the document folder in sync. If reminders and notes would go in sync, too, good.
Now, like I said you're probably right in principle about the two machines situation. But I might consider getting the smallest MacBook, which probably won't match my MacPro, and won't accept a 2560/1600 external monitor either. Don't know yet.
    Thanks

Unless you subscribe to iTunes Match, iCloud doesn't sync music.  Just set up every person's devices on a separate iCloud account and your iCloud data and photo stream will remain separated.  Each iCloud account will need a separate ID, but it does not need to be the same as your iTunes ID.  You can continue to share the same iTunes ID and maintain separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs for iCloud.
You'll also want to use separate IDs for each person for iMessage and FaceTime.  This will keep your text messages and FaceTime called separated as well.  The easiest way to do this is to have everyone use their iCloud ID for these two services as well.

  • Syncing 2 IPhones calenders together with out using a computer.

I have seen apps that can sync two IPhones together to "pass" business cards. Do you know a way to sync two IPhones Calenders over bluetooth? My wife and I are very busy and right now have to sit down together and pass back and forth all of our calender info.
    Thanks,
    Bill

Well my wife and I both use Google Calendars and thus each sync over the air with Google. We each have permissions to each others calendars. So if I want her to see something on her calendar, I just have to update her calendar via a computer (Google lets you copy from one calendar to another). It then appears on her iPhone since no sync is needed, and vise versa if she wants something on my calendar.

I created my own iCloud account and am still having the problem! I just deleted iCloud all together, but the problem is still there.  Someone please help!

    Hello moonshine66,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like you keep getting a download icon from iCloud. You might want to delete songs off iCloud. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Computer crashed how to sync TWO iphones on one computer?

Any help is appreciated. My PC that I sync my iphone on has crashed and I tried to sync my iphone on my wifes laptop, but she has an iphone as well. I can log into iTunes, but cannot see any of my podcasts, applications or information.
Is there any way to sync two iphones on one computer?

The easiest least complicated way to keep your info and her info seperate and not worry about things is to take advantage of user profiles on your computer (in XP)...so each of you log into XP with your own accounts, thus iTunes (and any other software like mail, etc) all have your own settings.
Otherwise, you will have to watch which account is logged into iTunes Store (click store and see what name is up top right in case you both have different accounts)...and make sure you are logged in with the right account before syncing. iTunes does know the difference between your phones so each can setup different settings of what to sync to, but your library on your computer will be mixed unless you do what I said first, use different profiles (user logins) for XP.

  • Sync two calendars *on iPhone*

Hi there - O my iPhone, I sync two calendars from different servers. Is there a way (possibly via 3rd party apps) to sync these calendars against each other *on the iPhone* ? No external sync's wanted (e.g. via Google or iCloud)... Tx, Stefan

Hi - thanks lots for your comment. I suppose you have lots of experience with it so I dare to describe my setup and desired results and I'd very much appreciate your advice.
    - I could sync data (mail, calendar) from two different Exchange servers.
    - One of them imposes an incredibly absurd restriction on my phone - pushing a policy which requires 8 char complex password to be changed every 90 days with screen lock set to max 15 minutes. This basically renders the phone unusable in daily life.
I was now thinking of having one old iPhone syncing against both servers but acting as an intermediate device: It would merge the two calendars and then sync the new content to the other server from where I could fetch it with my "real" phone. So this scenario does not work, all too bad...
Would you have any other suggestions how to achive this ? I don't want to involve 3rd party services, e.g. Google...
Many thanks for looking into it - best regards,
    Stefan
