Syncing two separate iPhones

I can't find any Apple-approved guidance or information on what happens when one tries to sync two iPhones to the same computer. If there is and I've missed, please redirect me and disregard the following.
1. If iPhoneX is activated under one account and iPhoneY is activated under another, will there be any problems with iPhoneY syncing music that was purchased under the account associated with iPhoneX?
2. iPhoneX doesn't currently sync anything (except for media) with iTunes: http://www.flickr.com/photos/50972001@N00/2123609143/ As far as I know, the Contacts, Calendars, Mail Accounts, and Web Browser for iPhoneX are either stored in iTunes itself, or not backed up at all and are solely on the iPhone.
If this information is actually stored on the computer somewhere, will iTunes differentiate between iPhoneX's content and iPhoneY's content?
3. This is dependent on the last question's answer: If I would like to selectively have some (but not all) of the contacts from iPhoneX copied to iPhoneY, for the sake of efficiency can this be done?
Any and all help would be appreciated! iPhoneY is already purchased, and I would like to activate and sync it appropriately for Christmas, but need to understand exactly /how/ that process will work before I do so. Thank you!

Answer to number 1:
You can Sync iPhone X and Y to the same computer without any issues. As long as your both into the same music, videos, contacts, etc.
If your tastes are really different I advise just creating another user account.
As far as purchased content. Any user can download this onto their iPhone but it is limited to 5 total iPhones, iPods, and or Computers. So you would need to Authorize both iPhones to have permission to play your purchased content. So you would then be using 2 out of your allowed 5.

The iPhones can be activated on any PC/Mac and do not have to return back to that PC/Mac ever again even if you get a new iPhone. We allow activation on any computer with iTunes 7.5 and a valid Internet connection.
Answer to number 2:
Each iPhone has it's own prefernce. For example iPhone X only wants to do music because it is a music lover and could care less about anything else. If iPhone Y came into the picture. It as well could Sync music or anything else in the world. Whatever you do in the Summary, Info, Music etc. Tab for each iPhone sticks to that iPhone and has no affect on the other iPhone.
Think of it like you both having your own car and presetting the stereo to what you want. The other does not have to worry about going into that car that does not belong to them and listening to a radio station that they may dislike.
Answer to number 3:
The only way to can narrow down what contacts go to each iPhone. Is assuming your Contact program allowed Groups. If it does you could create iPhone X contact group, and iPhone Y contact group. The equivalent to you both having your own play list.
Again this feature is dependent on weather your Contact program provides this feature.
If you would like. Call 1-800-My-iPhone or your local iPhone support and an Agent can assist and answer any other questions you might have.
The best all out option would be you both having your own user account so it's like you both having your own computers.

  • How to sync two separate iphone's to one computer without wiping and replacing libary?

my brother has an iphone 4 but needs updating, how can i plug his iphone into my computer where i have my own itunes libary without wiping his music, apps etc. with mine?

You can also *Transfer purchases from device* to copy all your purchased content into the new library. If you've got media on the phone that wasn't backed up from the old machine then you should probably take a look at this post from Zevoneer for options on moving your data back to a computer.

  • Two separate iPhones got merged into one iTunes account. How to separate them. We are sharing all of each other's contacts at this time. Thanks for your help.

Two separate iPhones got merged into one iTunes account. How can I separate them in iTunes???????. We are sharing all of each other's contacts at this time. Thanks for your help.

The reason you are receiving each other's text messages is because you are both using the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To prevent this you need to use different IDs.  (Note: you can still share the same ID for iTunes.)  On one of the phones, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.
To migrate your 3GS to a new iCloud account, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep on the phone to your camera roll.  To do this, open the my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  Next, if you have any notes that you are syncing with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to email these to yourself so they can be recreated after moving to the new account.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, choose Keep On My iPhone.  Next, sign back in with a different Apple ID to create the new account, turn iCloud data syncing preferences and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, if you have merged data in the two accounts that you want to separate you will have to go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want from each account.

  • HT4191 SYNCING TWO DIFFERENT IPHONES TO ITUNES WITH TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF CONTACTS !! DO I NEED TO HAVE TWO SEAPARATE CONTACT FOLDERS ON MY PC BEFORE I SYNC EACH IPHONE?

Can anyone help me with this? Two separate iphones need backing up to itunes which is fine for music photos etc apart from the contacts as we dont want the contacts to get mixed up off both phones on the same contacts folder.

    Hello, gref1975
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The best option would be to create separate user account on the computer that you separately use to sync with.  This keeps contact and calendar data from being merged together.  You can however still sync or share media with each user by following the steps in the second article below.
    Create multiple user accounts
Do you share your computer with someone who has different tastes in music and media? You can create separate user accounts for each person who uses the computer. You can maintain separate, personalized iTunes libraries and customize each devices' sync settings accordingly.
    Mac OS X users
Learn how to set up other user accounts.
    OS X Mountain Lion v10.8
    OS X Lion v10.7
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard
    Windows users
Look in your computer's Help documentation to learn how to set up other user accounts. To find this information:
Click the Start Menu and click Help or Help and Support.
Enter "new user" in the Search field.
    Press Return.
If you create multiple user accounts on one computer but want the same media to be available in iTunes for all users, you can share music between different accounts on a single computer.

Can you sync two 4S iPhones to one PC and iTunes account?

No you don't. You log into iTunes with your Apple ID but you can use one Apple ID for iTunes and a different Apple ID for iCloud. On your device go:
Settings > iCloud > Delete Account and sign in with a new Apple ID
This will only change the Apple ID for iCloud and both devices will continue to download apps and backup to the shared iTunes account.

  • Two separate iPhones syncing and backing up to one centralized iTunes library?

    Hi all,
My wife and I have two iPhone 5s' and am wondering if we can sync and back these two separte iPhones to one iTunes library? The library is located on a NAS drive on a share just labeled Music.
Ideally I would like to keep the two backups and syncs separately but have the ability to load playlists and albums from the centralized iTunes and iPhoto library.
    Can this be done?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

This article covers what you want to do: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495
As long as the phones have different names you can set different sync settings for them in iTunes. However, if they have the same Apple ID for iCloud any iCloud content (mail, calendar, contacts, notes, reminders) will be duplicated. The way to deal with this is to have different iCloud accounts on each device, but use the same Apple ID for the iTunes & App Stores. This way you can share music and apps.

  • ITunes not syncing correctly with two separate iPhones

My wife and I each have an iPhone and we share the same desktop PC at home. iTunes sucessfully keeps our music and photos separate; however, contacts under info uses what ever was set last. I want to use Google contacts and my wife wants to use Outlook contacts; however, iTunes is not remembering the settings. Any suggestions?

Sorry about that. Well, I've tried deleting the AlbumData.xml file as suggested also, but iPhoto itself generates a new file every time it's opened, so that's really a dead end. Rebuilding the library and through iPhoto Library Manager are the steps that required most work, and both did not work either, unfortunately.
I do believe that I'm not the only experiencing iTunes syncing problem, as there have been many posts here before when 9.4 came out. Like I wrote, it has been better with each upgrade, so there's definitely something in the coding with 9.4.x that messes things up. I had no trouble whatsoever with version 9.3.2 and prior to that.
    Terence Devlin wrote:
Please share a comprehensive list of things you've already tried so we won't your time - and ours - making suggestions you already know won't work.
Library size is not part of this issue. 12k photos is not a large library these days, I have one four times that size with no syncing issues.

  • Can I sync Notes between two separate iPhones?

My wife and I each have iPhones. They are set up on seperate iTunes/iCloud accounts as they should be. I want to know if there is a way to sync notes between the two phones. Example: If I am at the store and my wife wants me to buy eggs, she adds a new note and it pops up on my phone.
    --Phil

What you ask can only be done be using the same Apple ID for iCloud. That is not the best idea because iCloud will also merge you contacts and messages. Huge mess with that route. So I would say it's possible but I would advise against it.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to using ical with two separate iphones

    hello
trying to understand and learn how to use Ical with 2 different Iphones, using Icloud.

To sync iCal across computers, the calendar needs to be published to a server. This can be a local server that you can set up, or it can be something like google or microsoft exchange or apple's mobile me. The best bet may be to wait until fall and see what iCloud offers!
Sharing your screen can be accomplished a few different ways. You can have two iChat accounts set up, and have one logged in on each computer, and then use iChat's screen share feature. The other way is to go to System Preferences, Sharing, and then check the box next to Screen Sharing. You may have to adjust some of the settings in there, but give that a shot.
