Syncing two seperate Ipods to Itunes??

I have a newly acquired 120GB (Upgraded from 80GB) which is syncing my 60GB+ library right now and I also have my original Pink Ipod Mini 4GB which I recently found (still works and everything) and I was wondering if it was possible to sycn both Ipod with the same Itunes?? I have 900 songs on my Mini and I would like to put more songs on it. Is this possible??
Thanks for any help!!

iTunes will recognize each iPod as unique. I am currently syncing three different iPods.
I've found that using the Sync Selected Playlists option (see the Music Tab when an iPod is connected) allows me the most control with the least effort. I have playlists I used for each iPod and some common one.
Best of luck.

Up until I upgraded to the new software, I was able to quickly and easily sync both my iPods. One is an iPod touch; the other a classic. Now, I can't sync my classic. Any idea why or what I'm doing wrong? This new software, IMHO, is not that intuitive.

  • Two seperate podcasts in iTunes being merged into a single podcast on iPhone

    iTunes 11.0.1.12 x64 for Windows 7
    IOS 6.1.1 on iPhone 4s
    Apple Podcast app
I have two seperate podcasts whose mp3s were all downloaded from the artist's websites. Neither is available for automated download in the iTunes store.
Both are tagged as podcasts and have all Artist, Album, etc tags applied.  Both appear seperately in iTunes and are listed logically alongside their iTunes downloaded counterparts.   iTunes lists everything properly.  All is well here.
When I chose to sync one of the podcasts (Artist A) to my iPhone, it synced properly and appears correctly within my iPhone's Apple podcast app.
When I added the second podcast group (Artist B) by checking the box to automatically sync with my phone, it added them to Artist A's "podcast group" in the Podcast App.
-When viewing podcasts on my local computer, all podcats are seperated correctly.
-When viewing the podcast list from iTunes on my iPhone, the podcasts are seperated correctly.
-When viewing the podcasts within the Podcast app on my phone, all Artist A and Artist B podcasts are merged into Artist A's podcast group.  For example, Artist A has 5 episodes in their podcast grouping.  Artist B has 2 episodes.  The podcast app places all 7 episodes into the Artist A listing.
I cannot get them to seperate  so that the Podcasts app on my phone will list Artist A and Artist B with their own individual podcast groups.  Anyone have this happen to them and know how to fix it?   I've sorted through all the various tag fields, tried renaming each, toggled between designating them as "music" and "podcast" (they each started their life as "music" after manually adding the files in iTunes).   Nothing has worked.

I've had this problem from Day One with Podcasts app.  All my own files get thrown into one chaotic unorganized group.

  • How do I sync two iPhones with my iTunes and still have different apps on each phone? Do I use home sharing?

Does home sharing let me have the same iTunes library on mine and my girlfriends phones?

If you are synching all music that you have in iTunes on your computer then, when you next sync, any music not in iTunes but on the iPod should be removed.

  • I can no longer properly sync info from iPod to iTunes.  Did iTunes change?

I have always been able to sync my iPod to iTunes.  It updated number of plays, date last played, ratings, etc. from the iPod to iTunes.
I can no longer do this.  I was on the phone with Apple Support for over an hour...kept getting put on hold while the technician searched for answers...and finally a "senior advisor" told me that it's impossible for information like this to be transferred from the iPod to iTunes.  They're on "different" counting systems.  This is amazing to me, because it's worked beautifully for years, but now this won't work.  Information will transfer from iTunes to iPod, but not from iPod to iTunes.
    I don't understand what happened.

The "expert" is wrong, partially.  You must be using automatic syncing in order for iTunes to keep the "supporting data" (such as ratings and playcount) in sync.  With automatic syncing, it is iTunes's  "job" to keep the iTunes library on the computer "in sync" with the library on the iPod.  You tell iTunes to replicate either the entire iTunes library on the iPod (if it will fit) or a defined subset of the iTunes library on iPod, and iTunes keeps all data for that media content in sync between iTunes library and iPod.
However, if you use the manual method to load content (drag and drop items on the iPod in iTunes), with the Manually manage music (and videos) setting on the iPod's Summary screen, THEN the iTunes library on the Mac is separate from the library on the iPod.  iTunes just loads the media files on the iPod and then "forgets" about it.  You can delete songs on the computer, and they stay on the iPod because iTunes doesn't care.  In this case, iTunes also does not care about the supporting data, so things like ratings and playcount are not synced back to the Mac.  Afterall, that song on the iPod may not even exist in the iTunes library anymore.  It's possible that NONE of the song on the iPod are in the computer's iTunes library.

  • Trying to sync music onto iPod but iTunes 11 keeps crashing

I am trying to sync my entire iTunes library music onto iPod but iTunes 11 keeps crashing (using Windows 8 laptop)
I have tried to do it manually in little chunk and also tried the auto sync method too.
I have restored my ipod to factory setting 12 times now and retry but just when I think I'm getting somewhere iTunes freezes in the middle of the sync and then tell me it "cannot copy  because of unknown error (-50)"
From then on my Ipod refuses to accept any more syncing, it may do one and then it freezes again, iTunes says there is an issue with iPod, so I run a scan fix, it is repaired but then iTunes wants me to "restore to factory settings" again, it's a never ending circle, I get it fixed, iTunes crashes and then I have to fix, restore and start all over again just to have the same thing happen all over again
I have read here and there that there seems to be a bug in iTunes 11 when it comes to syncing.
I don't know what else to do, except revert back to iTunes 10 but I don't know how to do that either.
Anyone else had same issue syncing their library over to their iPod and how I fix it?

    Hi, ktchinagirl.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There are a couple reason this issue could be happening.  I have included a couple troubleshooting resources below that may help resolve this issue.  Some of the articles are missing the steps for Windows 8, try the steps for Windows 7 as an alternative.
iTunes: May become unresponsive when connecting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3219
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause this error. Contact the software manufacturer that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows:How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
This could be related to security software conflicts.  If the steps above have not resolved the issue, I would recommend going through the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

  • Syncing iPad to iPod from iTunes on external hard drive

I had all my music stored on my laptop but was running out of space so I transferred it all to an external hard drive. That's when everything went pear shaped! Tried to sync it all but messed it up. Now I have all songs on iPad, but it won't sync new stuff to iPod plus there is only new songs ( recently purchased ) on iTunes. Would love to know how to sync up iPad to iPod and iTunes so it all matches. Have tried the iTunes info icon but still can't get it to sync. Has anybody had problems with external hard drives when it comes to syncing iTunes?
    Thanks in advance
    Penny

If your library is full of broken links then try fixing them with my FindTracks script, otherwise see this post by forum regular Zevoneer for options on transferring files from the iPad to your computer.
Alternatively, if your iTunes database is missing files that should be in it then perhaps there is a previous iTunes library file kicking around your internal drive somewhere that could be restored and reconnected to your media.  It all depends on exactly what you did to start with. Switching to a new database tends to get things confused as iTunes will want to wipe the device and start over.

How can i connect a second ipod to itunes that already has one ipod connected to it?. The new ipod was authorised to house pc that has now broken and want to connect it to existing itunes on my laptop without having to delete everything on it and start again. Is this possible?

    Yes, you can do this.
I'd only have one iPod hooked into the PC at one time, though.

  • Can you have two separate iPods on iTunes without having the same songs?

My husband and I both have iPods but we don't want to same music on them. Really we would like to have two separate iTunes, so that I don't get his music and he doesn't get mine. Is that possible or do we just have to manually sync them?
