Syncing when phone is not recognized

I upgraded my iphone to a 5 a few months ago.  Just tried to plug it in to my macbook air to sync itunes, and itunes cannot "see" the phone at all!  Help!  How do I get the mac to see the iphone so I can sync?

Make sure your Mac is updated by clicking on the Apple, then Software Update. If you hvae out-dated versions of iTunes or OSX, it might not be recognized correctly.
If that doesn't do it, try following along with this Apple doc -> iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

  • Connected Phone Was Not Recognized!!!

When i'm trying to update my phone software the nokia software updater shown this msg (Connected Phone Was Not Recognized). I'm complete uninstall & reinstall NSU but there was same problem. Guys tel me what can I do now?????

    Hi gulu20072010
You don't say which model of phone isn't recognized.
If you haven't already installed Nokia PC Suite then you are usually prompted to install PC Connectivity Solutions when you install Nokia Software Updater.
Unfortunately after un-installing applications, entries remain in the registry which can sometimes cause problems.

  • HT201210 I tried to restore my iPhone 4s through iTunes and received error message that Restore could not be completed due to error 2003. Phone now not recognized in iTunes, with prompt to restore, phone w/screen with iTunes symbol and can't use.

I tried to restore my iPhone 4s through iTunes and received error message that Restore could not be completed due to error 2003. Phone now not recognized in iTunes, with repeated prompts to restore phone. Now phone w/screen with iTunes symbol and USB cord can't use. It appears the phone has been restored, but I cannot activate it.
I disabled my anti-software, iTunes and computer software (microsoft vista) are both up to date, I restarted the computer several times. My usb ports are working properly. I followed the troubleshooting suggestions from apple.

yes did you buy it of somebody or a well known company such as apple or carphone warehouse?
and i mean the phone would have been activated in the first place with the sim card you get given when you first get the phone.
trying to activate the phone with another sim card that you did not get when you brought the phone may result in you not being able to activate it
    no worries

  • My phone is not recognizing my contacts

Help.  All of my contacts are in my phone.  However, my phone is not recognizing them.  When one of my contacts calls, only the number, not the name, shows up.  Also, my siri won't work with contacts.

If you are a Verizon user, try this:
Open the phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number.
When the system answer press 1 for "Program or activate your phone"
Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating "Settings updated."
Double tap the Home button to bring up the recently used apps list at the bottom.  Locate the Phone, Message, and Contacts apps, swiping if necessary, and press and hold until they jiggle then press the red minus sign to stop them.
    Wait a 3-5 minutes.
Try your phone again and see if its working now.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Attempted update to iTunes 10.5.2 failed on my Windows XP system.  Now my phone is not recognized.  I tried installing manually.  I tried to repair using Add/Remove programs.  Still get errors.

Try doing it in a WIndows Safe mode - Restart computer and hit F8 key right after your see BIOS check and choose "Safe mode with networking"
    Do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that does not work, whilst in safe mode, download Free Malwarebyte software from CNET's Download.com.  Install, update virus definition then perform a full scan.  Remove if it did find some viruses or trojans.  Restart computer.
Back to regular windows, do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that doesnot work, check to see if your Hard drive has errors or bad sectors
GO START BUTTON /COMPUTER, right mouse click OS (C:) and choose "Properties"
Choose "Tools" tab and under error checking, click "Check Now".
Make sure "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" is checked and click start.
Restart windows will perform the above task to fix errors  This may take hours depends on how big is your Hard Drive
    Good Luck!!.

  • My i phone is not recognizing my passcode

My i phone is not recognizing my passcode.  Therefore disabling my phone with every wrong attempt at the passcode.

US iPhones are locked to the US carrier. They do not work with carriers in other nations, except with the roaming partners of the US carriers. US iPhone carriers do not unlock the US iPhones. If you want an unlocked iPhone you need to pay Apple full price for an unlocked phone.

  • I have the iPhone 3GS and I was updating to the IOS 5 version when at the end of the update it said updated failed. Now my phone is not recognized by my computer or any computer. The computer says it is a unknown device and my phone will not do anything.

Need help finding out what happened to my phone and what I can do. After trying to update my iPhone 3GS to IOS 5 my phone will no longer work and is an unknown device to any computer. It is like it wiped out everything on the iPhone and has no hardware or data on it. At the end of the download and update of IOS 5 it said there was an error during the process and gave me no option but to push ok and know phone is not working. The screen shows the USB plug and iTunes symbol, but computers will not recognize device.

What was the error number?  That would be very useful since the following gives actions for various errors.

Try manually placing the iPod in recovery mode to see if that will make the iPod visible in iTunes.  See:

  • 8120 Media Sync - "Your device is not recognized by Blackberry Media Sync"

I got a new (refurbished from ebay) Pearl 8120.  I just downloaded the newest Desktop Manager and Media Sync software.  The Desktop Manager  works fine with the Pearl.  The 8GB microSDHC card was formatted and has worked fine in the phone so far.  However, when I try to use the Media Sync software, I get this error:
"Your device is not recognized by Blackberry Media Sync.  Please check that
    (1) a memory card is installed correctly in your Blackberry device
    (2) mass storage mode is turned on for your blackberry device."
I have checked both these things.  I have tried running the program in XP compatibility mode and as administrator.  Also, my computer doesn't recognize the phone as a mass storage device (is it supposed to?).  I can always use my card reader to put files on my card, but I'd like to be able to use the Media Sync software.
    My OS is version 4.5.0.124
edit: Now it sometimes tells me "You need to turn on mass storage mode from the connected Blackberry Device and click Retry.  This may require you to reconnect your device."
In my settings I have Mass Storage Mode Support: On.  Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes.
I've reconnected the device and everything.  I've reloaded the card and restarted the phone.  Media Sync still gives me errors and Windows still doesn't see the phone as a mass storage device.

Hi, a simple solution is to take out humbly your previous phone from the closet (or thrashbin), put the microSD card into it and connect it to PC again. And you thought you would never use it again once you have that "awesome" Blackberry... :-)
I did this with my Nokia 6120. Also works with any standard microSD reader.

  • Media Sync 3.0 does not recognized my device

    I have a Blackberry 8330 with a media card installed, 4GB. I started my Blackberry Desktop and allowed it to update to the latest version, 5.01. I have used the Media sync in the past but not in a long time. When I started the Media sync it asked to install and I did. It tries to connect to my phone but I get the following error;
Your device in not recognized by Blackberry Media Sync. Please check that:
    1. a media card is installed correctlyin your Blackberry device.
    2. mass storagemode is turned onfor your Blackberry device.
There is a media card installed correctly on my device and mass storage is turned on and Auto enable Mass Storage Mode when connected is turned on as well.
The software version on my device is v4.5.0.138 (Platform 3.4.0.30)

    No joy.
First attempt after increasing log level -- again it hangs after I input the device password.  I'm not sure what you mean by "attempt to load from WMP" -- presumably that would be some menu or button on the sync app, but since it hangs before I get there I can't try it.   After waiting a while, I used the systray "safely remove hardware" utility and then pulled the BB from the USB.

  • I phone is not recognized by computer

My iphone charges in car and on charger, but when I connect it to the computer it is not recognized at all. I have reset my phone, uninstalled my itunes and reinstalled it, updated all software, tried every cord in the house, tried new and old mac and nothing works. Help.

If you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you follow the steps in this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 exactly. Check and make sure.  If you did, then try this support document to get the phone into the Recovery mode. It may take more than one try. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • I changed internet providers and email accounts.  I have managed to set up a new Apple ID but my I-phone is not recognizing it.

I recently changed internet providers and thus had to set up a new email account.  I managed to change my Apple ID but my I-phone 4S is not recognizing it.  It still brings up the old user ID.  I am also unable to retrieve Windows Mail (also wants old info)  I synced my phone.  What else can I do?

  • Phone numbers not recognized in copy/paste

how do you get copy /paste to work when copying numbers from an email or calendar and want to paste into phone or sms message,.  wont work

Thanks doesnt really work. Is like 7 steps and have to go from keyboard to manually pushing on screen to force the paste since data not recognized. Way harder than the prior bold o/s which auto-recognized links and numbers and was a one touch copy and paste using menu key. Need fixing. Cant paste from xls or email to email or sms message

  • Mac OS 10.5.6 downloaded Firefox 3.6.13 Came as .dmg When I try to launch it says "Not Recognized". Right click for "Open With" refers me to Disk Utility when same results "Not Recognized"

About my Mac > G5 Desktop OS 10.5.6
Want to upgrade to Firefox 3.6.13
The download comes as a compressed file in .dmg format. When I attempt to launch the .dmg file to decompress I get a error message that says: The following disk images failed to mount: Image > Firefox 3.6.13 Reason > Not Recognized. When I right click to see what opening app it is directed to it says: Open with "DiskImageMounter (default). Disk Utility is offered as another opening resource when I direct the file to Disk Utility and go to Menu Bar select "File" then select "Open Disk Image" (or Cmd + "O") I get the same result. Have tried downloading the file twice more and get the same results

Vk2mh it sounds like the download was not complete or corrupted.  Where are you downloading the update from?  Have you tried downloading again?
