Syncing with Facebook

I'm experiencing a problem with my contacts and trying to sync Facebook information. Before I would update my Facebook contacts it but the link to the Facebook profile and updated the photo. Now it's not updating photos and putting a "0" under Facebook field in the contact. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Just upgraded to iOS 7.1.2 to see if it was a bug fixed. You can see a sample on this screenshot below.

If you are having issues syncing contacts with Facebook on your iPhone, you may want to double check that the sync option hasn't been accidentally turned off, and/or try turning it off then turning it back on. You may find the following article helpful:

IPhoto crashing when syncing with Facebook

Software Version:
iPhoto 9.1.3
Problem:
The sync between iPhoto and Facebook stalls indenfinetly and iPhoto will not 'Stop and Quit" the sync when quiting iPhoto, this leaves no other option then to force quit iPhoto.
Details:
The four albums created for Facebook in iPhoto sync fine, a number of other albums originally created on Facebook that iPhoto is now trying to sync all report as pending (indefinetly). As the Facebook sync starts whenever iPhoto is launched, the sync reduces iPhoto performance and cannont be stopped with force quitting iPhoto, the problem is making iPhoto unusable. As advertised with iPhoto it syncs with Facebook, so I cannot just delete the albums in iPhoto as they will be deleted off Facebook.
Things not responisble:
I have checked that these albums still exist on Facebook and (obviously) that my internet connection is active.
Possible solutions:
I do realise that I could remove Facebook from the Accounts in iPhoto, however this isn't really a solution as all does is reduces functionality.
Has anyone else had the same problem or know of a fix?

Aperture is suddenly, repeatedly crashing on me whenever I try to sync to Facebook.
Has anything changed, directly before these crashes started? Could you ever sync to Facebook before, running Aperture 3.4.3, or have you just upgraded to AP 3.4.3?
If you could sync to FB before, using the current Aperture version, can you still upload to FB and view your albums using the web interface, or can you not reach Facebook at all?
Your crash report shows, that the crash happens, when Aperture tries to connect to Facebook to update the photos:

But I cannot tell from the information you provided, if this error is due to corrupted images in your library, a problem with your Aperture Library, or a problem with your FB account settings.
It would help, if you could make a few tests to narrow the problem down:
Can you publish to Facebook, if you import new images into your library and try to publish a different set of images?
Can you upload to Facebook, if you create a new Aperture Library for testing
(In Aperture: File > Switch to Library > Other/New) and import a few images. Can you publish to Facebook from this library?
If another library works well, you need to repair your current library. Please read this page in the Aperture User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual
Post back after these test - hopefully we will know more then.

Why can't my Apple iPhone 5s sync with Facebook?

My friends and I have checked our phone settings both on Facebook and I phone settings and they are all set the same, yet my phone is the only one that will not sync with Facebook. I cannot play Candy Crush with my friends and it's very frustrating. I have followed the instructions given on the Candy Crush website to fix the problem but none of it works. I wind up losing all progress I've made and have to start the game over. I've lost all my progress and have had to start over I don't know how many times. I'm about tired of trying. I keep thinking there just HAS to be someone our there who knows how to fix this!! Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you!

Droid incredible not syncing with Facebook

I just purchased a Droid Incredible 3 days ago. It will not sync with Facebook. I can download the app and go there but I cannot update contacts. I have gone into the menu settings and apps and it is not listed. WHen I install it I get an error that says the service is not available. I have done a factory reset and spoke with Tech support. He told me that I was out of luck and that I would need to purchase a new phone to know for sure if it is a FB issue or a phone issue. I am not going to pay another 300 dollars to find out. Does anyone have any ideas?

Delete the app and redownload. Also, go into Facebook settings and turn on notifications.
Also from the phones main Screen. MENU>SETTINGS> ACCOUNTS & SYNC, make sure Facebook is marked for syncing.

Calendar does not sync with facebook

Hi,
IM using a torch 9800 Version 6.0 bundle695. One day my bb was just restarting in a loop so I had to wipe the phone using a desktop after that im not able to sync my facebook with the bb calendar but I’m not able do that, I’m not able to see any birthdays or any upcoming events. I’m not getting any error messages as well. Kindly let me know how to solve this issue.

Hi Pawan.P,
Go to your Calendar > Options, on "Default calendar for new events", click Change. On the Default Services, Change "Calendar (CICAL)" to Facebook.

Why do some of my contacts profile pictures appear as a blue square after syncing with facebook?

After syncing facebook friends with contacts, some of the profile pictures in contacts are replaced with a blue square.
Any ideas?

Greetings. Allow me to expand, please. I downloaded pictures from internet, as a collection with different themes directly from Internet. I only downloaded jpeg files or images. I organized my themes by folders on my desktop, then I copied some of them in a small 250gb external hard drive… But that´s just incidental. Whenever i had a folder of images that I wanted to play as a presentation, I just dragged the folder to the Iphoto main page and Iphoto just copies them and makes a file under the same name as the original folder. Of course I also have images of my own production, which are my main concern. But threee or four times, Iphoto said that I had inconsistencies in my pictures and I just had to agree to fix them. This operation could take up to a couple of hours por more...
But since I installed Yosemite, this glitch or question of inconsistencies, has not happened again, but somtimes, as I scroll through the folders in Iphoto, to edit some of the images or delete them, some of them become just a dotline square… I cannot see the image anymore, and when I do a presentation of the folders, these blaced out images appear in the show, as a black square or screen. I damages my last blackberry and when I got my replacement phone and entered all my contacts it won't sync them up with my facebook contacts now even though it shows it is checked to so so. How do I link the two up?

You can manually connect your friends on Facebook with your contacts on your Blackberry. Start the Facebook application. At the top, click on Friends. This will open your Facebook friends list. For each Facebook contact that is also in your Blackberry device's contact list go to that contact name in Facebook. While highlighted, press the Menu key and select Connect with Blackberry Contact. It will give you a message stating, "This friend is not currently connected with your Blackberry Contact List. Select the ..." Press Select Contact. You will then be presented with your Blackberry contact list and you can find the corresponding name and select that name. Do that for each one you need. After that, your lists will be matched. How can I sync *CURRENT* contacts with Facebook?

I searched the discussions and found numerous questions asking how to sync Facebook's contacts with Address Book but those results just put all of Facebook's contacts in your Address Book. I would like to sync the my current addressbook with Facebook and import user pictures, email addresses, etc.
I'm an iPhone user all of 24 hours but this is done pretty seemlessly on Android phones.
Is there a way of selecting just current contacts to be synced with Facebook?
I'm using an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.3

I have found that syncing my contacts then un-syncing them results in my current contacts retaining all the info and picture from Facebook. I just don't have the Facebook updates, which I'm happier about anyway.

Question about syncing albums with Facebook

I have Aperture set up so I can publish albums to my FB account. However, everytime I open Aperture and it goes to sync with FaceBook, it copies all my photos I have on Facebook that I don't have in Aperture into my library. For example, all the pictures in my Cover Photos album in FB get copied into my library. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Is there a way to make Aperture not copy of sync with 1 particualer album on FB, or to make it so I can publish photos from Aperture to FB, but not have photos from FB get copied into Aperture?

Try unchecking the "Automatically check for newly published albums" setting in Preferences. In Aperture preferenced, click the Web pane and select the Facebook item in the Accounts list on the left first.

Facebook for HTC Sense not syncing with facebood profiles

I had to have a factory reset on my incredible and now my contact list will not sync with facebook and pull in the profile pics for my contacts on my phone that have facebook accounts. When I go to settings-acounts&sync-sync all, Facebood for HTC Sense does not seem to sync. Does anyone know what I should do?

I understand your concerns. It is inconvenient when our phones act differently after a factory reset. What software version are you running? Did you get the latest update for your Incredible?
Please ensure that you have the latest software version installed as the first troubleshooting step to resolve your concerns. If you have updated to the latest software version and issue started after the update please keep in mind that it is normal for your phone to function differently after a software update and this may just be the way the new software version works.

Problem publishing and syncing to Facebook

Using iPhoto '11 (9.01).
I can't sync to Facebook. In iPhoto the Facebook albums that I'm trying to publish more photos to, iPhoto will just keep the progress bar up and says "pending" and it never syncs (or goes away, I have to force-quit if I want to quit iPhoto).
Anyway, I've read some reports that people have had success syncing after deleting their Facebook account in iPhoto, and creating a new one. But it has been my experience in similar situations that when deleting anything in iPhoto that syncs with Facebook that it will remove the pictures and albums on Facebook.
Of course you can re-upload them, but then all my comments that were previously put on my pictures from my friends would be wiped clean.
Please Help !!!

I have just tried again what you suggested but only got error pop-ups (See below) I tried both the old email with old and new passwords and then also putting my ID in again which then give me the second pop saying to chose my adobe ID 1st on the list…
Is it possible to clear the slate and star afresh?

HT5500 I had to restore my phone back to factory settings because it was messing up. When I restarted it I chose to start it as a new phone, and now I can't get my of my contacts back. I've tried syncing with ICloud and no luck HELP

I cloud only has the contacts that weren't associated with Facebook (I had synced my contacts with Facebook prior to restarting my phone. Now when I synced with Facebook it doesn't have any of the phone numbers for the contacts. HELP ME GET MY NUMBERS BACK PLEASE

Are the contacts on your phone to be the same as the contacts in your computer? if yes do following:
In iTunes/Preferences/Devices check the "Prevent iPods.... from syncing automatically".
Connect your iPhone to iTunes by cable or set sync by WiFi on the Summary page.
Then on the Info Page scroll down and check "contacts" under the "Advanced" heading.
Then click "sync" in the right bottom of the page.

Mac OS X Mavericks do not sync all Facebook contacts

I'm using OS X (10.9.1) on a MacBook Air and I have added my Facebook account to the OS settings. The Contacts app did sync with Facebook but it didn't get all my Facebook contacts. Do I need to make any special configuration for that?

I presume you have installed this ?
Whilst these sort of error notifications can marginally slow things, depending on the number of them and the frequency of them it is difficult to say how they might effect another app.
I doubt this one is effecting Messages directly.
It might and I stress might have some involvement with the Contacts App which Messages also looks at for the iMessages account and possibly for "Real Names" in the Buddy list and Messages main window during chats and conversations.
Lets try a different tack.
Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences again as in the earlier reply.
Find com.apple.imagent.plist
Drag this to the Trash.
It will need you to restart this App. However it starts up when the computer does.
This means you can stop it using Activity Monitor (Open the app in Applications/Utilities find the imagent item and use the Quit Button top left then confirm a Force Quit) Or Restart the computer.
This is a support app to Messages and FaceTime.
It holds some of the Account info so that the computer (those apps specifically) can "Listen" for incoming "calls" or Chat invites.
At this point they will start the apps up - without intervention from you - if the apps settings allow it.
FaceTime just has to be set to On but not launched.
Messages has a setting in the General Section of the Preferences about being set to Off Line on Quit.

Faces Replacement with Facebook Friend

I've noticed that some of my Faces in images synced with Facebook get "replaced" with the corresponding Facebook user. This goes beyond (the useful and intended) matching of the Face to the Facebook user (through their e-mail address) and the generation of a tag for the picture on Facebook; it's an actually loss of data and functionality. The subject is no longer listed with his Face in Aperture, and the control linking to the Face is gone (replaced with a Facebook icon). Worse, this happens without my doing anything in Aperture or Facebook: one minute the image is among those associated with a Face, later it's gone.
Is this a bug; a feature I don't understand?
