Syncing with new application

I'm trying to sync with a new application. I checked the error files and there
are no errors, but i noticed that under wlportal/applications/myApp-project/application-sync/webapps/myapp/sampleapp_main.wf
has not been modified. Any reason why this did not happen? Am I missing some
sort of sync setting to pass in or otherwise?

Daniel,
I'm experiencing the same problems as Heidi. I'm not sure whether this issue was
ever resolved with Heidi.
Here are the specifics of my installation:
Weblogic Server 6.1 SP1
Weblogic Portal Server 4.0
MS SQL Server 7
EBCC 4.0
There are no exceptions when I run synchronization in EBCC. However, if I add a
portlet anything else on the XML, the new addition does not reflect in the PORTLET
table in my database.
Please Advice. Thanks in Advance.
Cheers,
Dave

Heidi,
To reconfirm: are you saying that you modified this document in the EBCC
and
it did not get propogated to the server? Please double check that you really
did modify that version of the document (not the version installed with
the
server, but the one installed with the EBCC).
FYI: you can force a sync of all documents (whether changed or not, but
using the "refresh-from-client" sync mode (called update all documents,
in
the EBCC sync properties).
If you continue to see this behavior please send us both documents (server
and client) and we will investigate.

    1. Double check your are modifying the correct file/directory. Do you see
other changes to application files, or is this just specific to portal?
    2. Check you are sync'ing to the correct server and application.
    3. Check using the Data Repository browser that your documents are ALL in
the Master Data Repository for the server. Use the context URL of the
DataSync WebApp for you application: e.g.
    http://localhost:7501/p13nAppDataSync/index.html (for the P13N application)
    4. Check the contents of the Portal Data Repository (using the browser) and
see if your changes are getting out to there.
    5. Check the portal is entitled, visible, allowable etc.
I would be surprised if you have found a bug (but you never know!) , as the
system has had a fair bit of use by now. If after double checking your

    David,
I think you need WLP 4.0 SP1 - I believe this bug was fixed for SQL Server.
This will definitely explain why your changes aren't showing up after you
    sync!

  • Iphone sync with new library

I orginally synced and starting using my iphone4 with one laptop. Now I want to change and always sync and manage my iphone from a new laptop. Right now I want to update the iOS, but before I can do that, I need to get all my apps from the iphone to my new laptop itunes library. How? When I try to sync with new library which has no apps, I get a message that my iphone apps will be lost.
    How can I move forward??
    thx.

All iTunes content on your iPhone - all music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer for this and several other reasons. All apps on your iPhone would be in your iTunes library if Sync Apps had been selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. With this selected, after downloading an app direct with your iPhone the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so. This also provides for downloading an app with iTunes on your computer and installing the app on your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, and for removing an app from your iPhone without deleting the app by deselecting the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync. To reinstall the app again later, reselect the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync. This also provides for transferring your entire iTunes library from one computer to another per the link provided.
First you need to authorize your new laptop with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
After confirming all 3rd party apps on your iPhone were transferred to your iTunes library, select Sync Apps under the Apps tab and make sure all apps below are selected. Select Apply.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

deleted songs on my iPod when sync with new Mac - ups! However all songs are still on my iPad library. Can I sync with iPad to get all song back?

You can use the transfer purchases feature to put the songs back into iTunes from the iPad - as long as the songs were purchased from iTunes.
Connect the iPad, launch iTunes and then right click on the iPad name under devices and select Transfer Purchases. But ..... Before you do that - turn off auto sync first.
Launch iTunes and the go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing Automatically. Check the box at the bottom that says that. Then click OK. Then you can connect the iPad to the new Mac to transfer the purchases.
This will only work for music purchased from iTunes. If you have music ripped from CD's, you will need a third party app - like TouchCopy.
You can also download the songs again in iTunes as long as you use the same Apple ID. But read this about downloading past purchases as there are some restrictions based on where you live.

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:

    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like on of those discussed here:

    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

  • Syncing with new PC

My pc died within 2 weeks after I got my iPhone, so I am very new to this. What do I do to get it to sync with new pc - including software updates? Can it be set to sync with multple pc's?

I've a new PC. Am trying to get my phone to synchronise with the new PC but every time I connect it it just disconnects. It has transferred photos okay, but then when I try to say yes to anything it starts to run and then beep and close.
I've moved from an XP to Windows 7. My iPod Touch synched perfectly with the new PC but I am just fed up of trying with the phone. I luckily still have the XP PC but really don't want to have to keep closing the windows 7 one down and opening the XP just to use the phone.
Anyone any idea what I do to stop the phone closing down. It has verified and I did get asked the question about being synced with another computer, I said yes and within seconds crash.
Seems to close and re-open regularly, as I am writing this the phone has just re-conected itself to iTunes and is going beep beep, off, on, off on.

  • I just want to reinstall windows 7. will i face any problem while syncing with new itunes, i just want to reinstall windows 7. will i face any problem while syncing with new itunes???

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPhone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPhone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
