Syncing with PalmDesktop

Question

I am a real newbie to the world of iCal and iSync. I have a Palm Zire 31 that I basically use as a planner and address book. I would like to be able to have my dates synched both with iCal and Palm Desktop. Right now when I sync, the only calendar that imports my dates from the Zire is iCal. How can I get the Palm desktop to recognize this again? Or do I have to choose one over the other. I like being able to assign categories on the Zire that iCal does not recognize, hence the need to keep Palm Desktop around.

The simplest process whereby to restore Palm Desktop synchronization and defeat Address Book and iCal synchronization is to locate these two folders—Conduits and Disabled Conduits—here:
Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync
Move the conduit named Apple from the active Conduits folder to the Disabled Conduits folder. Move the following set of Palm Conduits from the Disabled Conduits folder to the active Conduits folder:
• Address Conduit
• Calendar Conduit
• Contacts Conduit
• Datebook Conduit
• Memo Conduit
• Memos Conduit
• Tasks Conduit
• ToDo Conduit
Do not move, remove or reconfigure iSync. Simply use the HotSync Manager to insure that the Palm conduit settings are appropriate for your synchronization tasks, and initiate a HotSync event.
You should clearly understand that while the Palm Desktop works under OS X 10.4 and earlier, there is no guarantee that it will under the next OS release. Palm has made it clear that it will be providing only maintenance updates to this suite, and it is not now and never will be Sync Services compliant. That leaves it essentially abandoned and well out of the mainstream with OS X synchronization technology. I would urge to you consider adapting to the Address Book, iCal and Mail applications, and consider third-party add-ons like iGTD to extend your ability to manage and synchronize task data, for example.
