Syncing with Windows XP and iTunes 9.1 slow,stalled, hanging

I am attempting to sync my iPad with a Windows XP - based laptop having the latest and greatest iTunes. This process is barely moving. The device was left overnight and it is still attempting to sync. I am afraid to interrupt the process but I can't tell if the machine is hung up or wedged or what. The progress bar during the backup phase barely progresses.
Any ideas on how to unwed this?

The backup/sync process should never take that long...something seems to have gone wrong... You can try to force quit or end task for iTunes...
Depending on where in the process it got stuck you may or may not need to restore iPad.

  • An extra group 'on my iphone' appeared after i sync with windows contact via itunes

    I am having this problem which appears to be happened after i sync with my computer. In the contact group, there is an extra group 'on my iphone' appeared after i sync with windows contact via itunes, and even though now i stop syncing already, the group is still there. Can anyone here give me some suggestion on how to remove this group permantly, i not just wanted to remove the contacts but the entire group form appearing on my iphone. Thanks.

    Is the app compatible with the iPhone (e.g. it's not and iPad-only app), and do you have the relevant iOS version on the phone ? Or do you have Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps set 'off' on the phone which will stop new apps being installed ?

    Yes, I am also having trouble with my windows 7n.  I tried to install the download but it didn't have 32 bit for my computer and I don't think it will help me see my phone on my external devices. I can't transfer my photos. Any help would be appreciated.

  • I have been using iPod touch and iTunes with Windows XP - no problems.  I now have a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium.  When I try to sync the iPod with Windows 7 and iTunes it will not transfer all my photographs.  What can I do?

    When I tried to sync my iPod Touch with my new computer none of the photographs were synced.  I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.  When I did it the first time the photographs were all muddled up in their albums.  When I tried to sync again the photographs were all removed.  On the third try I received an error message something like 'Unable to sync photographs program cannot be found.' Can anyone help.  (It may be to do with Windows 7 and Libraries??)

  • HT3798 Ipod Classic will not sync with windows 8 and newest itunes

    I have ipod classic, 160gb, with new computer with Windows 8 and latest version of Itunes - came from xp and previous version of itunes - and never had a syncing problem. 
    All my songs are in new itunes on new computer, however ipod will not sync.  Have received -50, and duplicate file name - I restored and it will go so far and then freeze.  Or  I get -53.  Have tried lots of suggestions discovered on pages like these... but none have worked.  I do see there is a problem with classic and new itunes - does anyone have any solutions??

    Well I finally figured out the problem, not thanks to anyone from Apple for that matter. You would asume this problem has happened before and is still happening. The problem was I couldn't copy certain songs anymore from iTunes to my iPod Classic. When trying to copy certain songs I got an error.
    If you have this problem it means your song file is corrupted. You can simply check this by trying to copy it from your hard drive to an external hard drive. Here you will also get an error message.
    This means you need to replace all the corrupted files by a back up on your hard drive or download it again. I did this and now everything works fine.
    Hope this will solve a lot of problems.

  • New Ipod touch won't sync with window's vista/itunes 9.2 - help!!

    I charged my brand new ipod touch via my computer, have it plugged it into my computer's USB port, and Itunes acknowledges the device in the left hand menu BUT it automatically says "itunes could not connect to the itunes store. The network connection has timed out". The ipod will not sync with my itunes! I tried connection/disconnecting, turning the ipod on and off, and restarting the computer. No luck. What do I need to do? Please help, I was so excited to get the new ipod and now I can't use it! I have window's vista and I don't know anything about how to check or change computer settings that might be preventing the store from opening (it used to open, but I haven't tried in a while and I just downloaded version 9.2 today).

  • Problems with windows 7 and itunes

    I purchased a new computer which now has windows 7, I am having a problem with iTunes sync my iPod.  I have installed iTunes 3 different times and it still wont sync my iPod touch.  I have the first version of the iPod touch, I am out of solutions on what to do I don't want to have to lose all my music, pics and apps.. Any suggestions on what to do and how to fix this problem thank you!

    Have you tried transferring all of your purchases?
    To do this, plug in your iPod with iTunes open.  (if it starts to sync, let it).  Once it's done syncing, keep your iPod plugged in.  Go to "File" at the top of iTunes and find "Transfer Purchases from iPod".  Click that.  It should start transferring everything from your iPod into iTunes.  Once it's done transferring, sync your iPod again (just to be safe).  Once it's done syncing, unplus your iPod and check each tab on the navigation bar to see if your stuff has transferred and synced (For example, if you transferred music, click the "Music" tab on the left navigation bar, for apps, click "Apps", etc.)
    This worked for me when I couldn't figure out why my stuff wasn't transferring from my iPhone to iTunes by just syncing.  I have to transfer purchases every time I download a new app, song, book, etc.  Hope this helps!

  • Cannot sync with Windows Vista and BB 7105t

    I was using Windows XP and everything worked great. Now I have Vista and cannot sync. I open the BB Desktop Manager and it says my device is disconnected. I am plugged in to a USB port, tried two different ones and makes no difference. Thus when I go to Synchronize, the Sync or Configure PIM are not available.  Also when I just plug into my computer to charge, I get a message "USB charge current is not suffigient. . . . "  However, it does charge, just a little more slowly than with my XP computer.  Any suggestions?

    Here is what you need to do.
    Use this procedure to cleanly uninstall the DM you have loaded:

    Go to here and download Desptop software 4.2.2 without Media manager;

    Cold boot the PC after de-install and :
    Install with these Vista condierations:
    1. Right-Click on Command Prompt in Start Menu and choose Run as Administrator
    2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Research in Motion\Blackberry\IS71 Connectors\MS Outlook Connector by typing: c:\> cd program files\research in motion\blackberry\is71 connectors\ms outlook connector
    3. Then type in the command prompt, type: regsvr32 MsOutlookConnector.fil
    4. If the registration is successful, the following message displays:
    DllRegisterSErver in msoutlookconnector.fil succeeded.
    5. Close and open Blackberry Desktop Manager to perform the synchronization process again and Outlook will be in the list...
    If you receive the error message DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005 - you do not have admin rights. So, it's important that you run command prompt as admin.

    Now go to your carriers blackberry software site, get the correct device OS and make sure the app loaded can find it.
    Configure the DM and try to sync.

    From your description, it sounds like you are prompted to "link missing files" when attempting to modify/move certain items. iTunes has lost track of the actual song file that is on your computer, and we'll need to instruct iTunes on where this file is located.   • Syncing issues with windows 7 and iTunes on a 64 bit machine

    When syncing iPhone to iTunes, windows closes iTunes when the first app starts to sync.
    Music and all other syncs transfer without an issue.
    Is there a computer protection setting that needs to be changed?
    Does windows see the app as a virus?

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

    Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

    it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
    Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

    Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
