SyncML and Nokia E61

I am trying to get our Calender to sync wiht my new Nokia E61. A collegue with a Nokia E60 has no problems syncing, but the E61 just wont do it.
The ocas_log mentions:

I allready installed all certificates of the server and the CA since i read somewhere that that might be a problem.
Any help is deeply appriciated

The latest 10g sync server does support most of the
newer E-series phones including the E61 and E61i.
Nokia did make some changes in the latest sync client
implementation that caused issues but they have since
been resolved.Hello.
You say these issues have been resolved but by which side : Nokia or Oracle ?
If Oracle, is it in their latest OCS10g release (10.1.2.4.2 ) ?

I-mate K-JAM and Nokia E61 Help with settings

Hi,
I used to be able to conect to my works exchange server with my i-mate. I can not seem to get it right with the Nokia. Could view my e-mails and sync my calender with the i-mate.
Settings in the sync function of the i-mate:
Server configuration
Server address - [email protected]
This server requires an encrypted (SLL) conection
User name
Password
Domain
This would then uatomatically sync my calender and e-mail
Can one do the same with an Nokia E61?

I have a K-Jam and love the heck out of it!! I've had several HTC products and found that this has been the best yet. No problems. I highly recommend it.
As for getting it setup with my iBook, that's been a bit of a pain. I can't seem to figure out how to dial to GPRS. Did you accomplish this with your 910? If so, how????? I've got the iBook and K-Jam paired, and it sees it as a bluetooth modem, but I can't figure out how to setup my t-mobile. Any comments would be great!

Airport Snow and Nokia E61

So I am trying to use my Airport Snow with a Nokia E61 with no success. The E61 can see the Airportstation without problem, but as soon as I try to connect to the internet I get a error. I made no security settings on the Airport and it is working because I can use it with my Powerbook. Also I can use the wifi of a neighbor who also has a open wifi so some setting in the Airport is blocking the E61 ... anybody got this working?

Yes you can use the MacBook Pro with the snow (dual Ethernet) AirPort base station (ABS).
The snow ABS is based on 802.11b.
The MacBook Pro has 802.11g built-in.
Since 802.11g is backwards compatible with 802.11b, the MacBook Pro will work with a snow ABS.

What can I Sync using my Nokia e61 and Isync

Hi there
Can I only sync contacts and Ical?
I wanted to load some music and some pdf's onto the phone can I do this via the mac, or do I have to use the nokia cable and a PC?
New to the E61 so keen to review what can be done with it and what cant - but dont really want to buy any 3rd party sync tools

Thanks for the clarification; since posting this question I have located a BETA program from Nokia called Nokia Multimedia Transfer
I have used this to transfer music onto the Nokia E61, and enabled that to be used as my ring tone
It seems okay and havent found any issues with it, but being a BETA it is always wise to air caution

Nokia E61 Date and Time settings

I have Nokia E61, and not sure if I am the only one facing this issue...
Whenever I switch off and switch on the phone. it asks for time and date each time. (I am not removing/touching the battery)
I also have Good client installed and works perfect, only issue is, if I dial out any number it close the GPRS (Data) connection. I checked with my GPRS service provider, they say that its handset feature to have both simultaneously.
Please suggest any help on this.

I think that you have to set up your current time zone. Check it please. To set it up go to Clock application -> Settings -> Time Zone.

Firmware Update and SIP on Nokia E61

I just upgraded my firmware for my Nokia E61 (3.0633.09.04) and since updating, i cannot get internet calls to work. SIP registration works as normal, but attempted internet calls just display number@ipaddress and nothing happens (ie no internet dialing).
i noticed that the internet telephone interface is different on the new firmware. perhaps a different setting is needed?
help?

sipphone and voipdiscount (via pbxes exchange). i used it just before upgrading no probs. backup just before upgrade, then upgrade, then tested to find no internet call.

I work in IT and I have just got the Nokia E61 to test out as an alternative to the MDA's that we currently have. Basically we are looking to phase these out as they have proved to be very unreliable but they have been relatively easy to setup via ActiveSync.
Now that I have just received a Nokia E61 to test I was wondering; is there a way I can get Oracle Calendar to synchronise over the wire as opposed to over the air,
just like i could on the MDA's after installing Oracle Calendar Sync for Pocket PC.
The reason why I ask is as a company we would like to do over the wire is so that pc users can synchronise their organisers via usb without costing the company any money via GPRS connections.
Is their a possibility that this could be done or will I have to go down the SyncML route?

This cannot be achieved with the Synthesis SyncML client. The latest Oracle Calendar Application System server patch (10.1.2.3.1) only mentions Nokia N90 and 6682.
So Oracle does not support Nokia E61 yet. I suggest that you raise an enhancement request SR on Metalink.

I have a nokia E61 on an orange monthly contract caller ID is not working

Hello all, Yes my trusty old Nokia E61 no longer shows caller ID. When I call a number in my contacts I get the name of the person I am callingText messages have the sender ID attachedIf I put the sim in another phone I get caller IDIf I put the sim from another phone in the E61 I get caller ID SO, today I went and did a sim swapI waited till my current sim lost signal (about 2 hours)I inserted the new simWhen I got home I called my Nokia E61 from my wifes EE iphone and our land line, both gave caller IDI then read and deleted the sms that orange sent me to update the sim and restarted the phone Guess what, no caller ID I called Orange support, they told me everyone on orange has this problem (yeah right I believe that) I am going to do another sim swap tomorrow and I will put the new sim in another phone till I get the message then I will put the new sim in my nokia which should sort it out. Anyone got any amazing ideads about this or can anyone verify Oranges cheesy explanation for the fault??

Hello Karen, Thank you for checking it for me. I did a sim swap on Sunday and it worked fine. I turned off my phone overnight and when I turned it back on in the morning, no caller ID.This fault is obviously something to do with the SIM update texts received after a new SIM is inserted. I put out a question on twitter asking for other orange users to contact me who are suffering this (as I have been told 95% of estate affected) problem. No-one else has it! I have talked to customer services about transferring my contract to an EE sim (contract expires in December) but was told no, I have to pay £170 to get out of the contract. My issue is this; I work in the property business, I have several properties I own and manage. When I miss a call now I get no ID from the caller or call back number.This is costing me money and stress as I keep getting upset tenants having a go at me for 'ignoring' them. I have aslo missed important calls from my financier! I am in a contract witnh Orange where I pay a fee for a service. That service is not being provided to an adequate standard and I will need compensation from Orange for my loss if I cannot transfer to an EE account. I do not want another contract, I do not want a new handset, I just want my basic service so I can conduct my business in a proper manner. SMS Problem on Nokia e61

Hello everybody.
I was wondering if anyone has the same problem as I do. All of the sudden, my Nokia E61 doesn't receive any SMS?
It works for a while after reboot, but then again I cannot receive SMS after few hours. I find this very annoying, but everything else works big time on this phone.

I know because people call me to see why don't i responed to their messages.
I thought that full SIM card could be the problem, but it is not. Simply, it stops at one point od the day, and after restart all messages are being received.
It is very odd, but again, I have such a bad luck with smartphones, sometimes I would like to get back to 3310 and forget all about troubles .

PC Suite & Nokia E61

I have two recurring issues with my Nokia E61
Issue 1:
I cannot get my PC to sync with my E61, although it seems that I can intermittently get my E61 to sync with my PC (by using synchronise on the phone and not the PC)
I am operating all the up to date software... XP SP2, PC Suite 6.85.14.1 and E61 software version 3.0633.09.04
Has anyone got any ideas? I have uninstalled and re-installed PC Suite and all of the components, I have repaired it using the add/remove programs in control panel too. I have removed and reinstalled my Bluetooth device and I have paired and unpaired my phone several times. It shows as being connected on my PC but PC Suite is unable to connect. I am confused/annoyed/frustrated.
Issue 2:
For more than 6 months my answerphone notification spool has not been working on the phone. Apparently it is a 'known issue' but neither Orange nor Nokia seems inclined to sort it out.
Today Orange said that I needed to update the phone software because there is a patch. But then I pointed out that I seemed to have the latest E61 software. To this Orange technical support did not have an answer and the answerphone spool still does not work, and I cannot connect my phone to my PC anyway....
The E61 has the potential to be a great phone, but these ongoing issues mean that it just does not perform when it should. For example, for a while it would randonly delete all of my emails on my PDA without warning. And when it does sync it often duplicates my contacts so I have 1500 duplicate contacts in my address book.
These ongoing issues mean that after being with Nokia for over 15 years I think it is time to go elsewhere for a reliable PDA. What started out as a small problem has turned into a complete nightmare.
Basically, any help would be much appreciated....!

What ms os you are using(XP or Vista? On that device manager, try to uninstall that "Red x", then from the above menu try to rescan for new device & check if the proper driver is installed & the "x" disappear.

Nokia E61 supports javascript. But can anybody tell me if it supports asynchronous javascript and xml ?. where can i find information about this?

Incredibly slow Contacts Nokia E61

I have less than 300 contacts in the E61. Opening up a contact in order to view or edit it takes as long as 58 seconds, with 20-25 seconds being the norm. I have about pictures attached to about 7 contacts, which probably accounts for some of this. The contacts each have several email or telephone numbers and a business and home address. Other than that, it's a basic address file that I've used for years on OUtlook and my Sony Ericsson P910 and Nokia 3650. Any ideas on what's causing this problem?
Otherwise the phone seems to work fine.

Without any help from NOkia I rectified my problem. (North American users of the E61 are totally orphaned by Nokia and can't get simple software questions answered.) I backed up my phone and then did a re-set to restore things to the factory default settings. Since then the contacts work normally. I don't remember the code you have to input, but that did the trick. I believe I read about it in some user forum or blog.

ISync & Nokia E61 working free sync solution

I just wanted to share this with anyone trying to sync there Nokia E61.
This will let you sync address book and calendar with iSync
This plugin is FREE , no need to pay for the novamedia one, but only works with the E61
It's also all in german so i thought i'd share it here in plain english, since i didn't know german either.
First let's credit the guy who made the plugin:

Go to the above link and download the plugin version 2.5
After download, you can drag the plugin to the red labeled alias folder and it will automatically copy the file where it should go, or you can do it manually.
For Manual installation:
1. copy the Plugin file “mactomster.phoneplugin” with Apple + C
2. go to Applications and right click iSync and select 'Show package contents'
3. now you go to Contents -> Plugins -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> Plugins
4. Now Paste (Apple + V) the file from step 1 into this folder (from step 3)
Now you can add your E61 via bluetooth and after setting that up iSync should start automatically.

Memory full on Nokia E61

Hi,
I have bought a Nokia E61 a short while ago and I am having problems with the memory: I don't have anything much on the phone yet in terms of data - my contacts (for which I haven't even maxed out the possibilities of entering addresses etc.), calendar entries, a few pictures. Today, I was just trying out adding thumbnail pictures to a few contacts and after I had done so for two or three, I got the message (when I tried to add another): "Contacts: Phone memory full. Close some applications and try again". I didn't have any applications open that I was aware of. By backing up the phone memory to the SD card, I found out that it was less than 1MB.
Does anyone have any ideas what that could be or what I could do to fix it?

yeah, that's what I thought too at first. But I didn't have much on the phone at all - only a few avatar-sized pictures (max. 100kb), my contacts (not too many and not all possible information per contact), calendar entries (not too many, either). Moreover, I tried afterwards with one avatar picture that was smaller and one that was bigger, and both worked. Also, when the pictures are stored already, linking them to a contact should not take up much additional memory, should it?
