Syncproblem Logic Pro with reason or Abletonlive

Setting up a loop (4 bars) in reason or live running rewire with logic pro. It doesn´t loop correctly. (when the loops starts over again it "hops" or misses out the begining.)
All software is the latest.
Any support?

It's still me, but hey ..
I'm sure Stefy, willing to spend 700 quid on Logic Pro, was not planning on using the build in speakers of any laptop to do music. If so: Wrong. You can however use the build in analog (or digital) output to hook up to a stereo or to active monitors, they aren't bad at all. I've done it myself a few times when on the road.
As for soundcards, I can warmly recommend the new tc Konnekt series. The mic pres are really good for the price (and I use Neve, SSL, Fairchild, Neumann and the like when it comes to pres on a daily basis, just so you know where I come from), and generally they seem quite solidly build and the drivers too (even though the GUI is a bit, ehm, quirky).
Express vs. Pro. Well. You do get some some quite good Logic-only plugs with Pro that aren't there in Express and with the intel based portables you can actually USE these plugs too. There's a few features that I really like in Pro that aren't in Express too. Strip Silence, Curve Tool, those sorts of things. That being said, having to deal with the XSKey sticking out the side of your laptop is a bit hairy, so what I do is I run Express when on the road-on the road, and Pro (XSkey and a couple of iLoks) when stationary-on the road (so to speak). Luckily, the two haven't got any probs whatsoever opening each other's songs. In fact, I've had clients come over with sketches they'd done in GarageBand and both Logics open them NP as well.
It would be good to know what you're actually planning to use Logic for, Stefy. Then it's much easier to advice you.

  • Using Logic Pro with Reason 3.0

I am trying to use logic Pro with reason 3.0. I want to be able to sync them together to use redrum within reason as my drum machine. I am using a MOTU 828 mk II audio interface with 8 in's and 8 out's.
When I start logic first and the reason I am not hearing any sound from reason. I can see the meters move in the mixer of reason but I hear nothing.
From the standard documentation that comes with Logic all I can figure out is that rewire is there to sync any other rewire program so that can run side by side of one sequences transport controls.
I want to be able to hear audio from both my arrangement in Logic and in Reason at the same time in the same song in sync.
Can someone please tell me firstly if this is possible and if so how can I implement this kind of setup.
    Thanks in Advance.

Common problem. LP doesn't rewire 'out of the box'.
There are two ways to do this (well, more, but I'll tell you 2)
    1 (Easy Way):
Restart Mac (Just to be sure things are sorted, not everytime)
    Launch Logic
    Launch Reason
    Arrange Window
    Choose a Channel> Pan Left
Go to the Middle section of the Parameters on the Left
With the Channel pop up menu, select Rewire> RWMix L
Repeat for the Right and away you go.
    2 (More Advanced)
    Environment Window
In the Middle section of the parameters on the Left select Create
    Name it Rewire
Under that windows "New" pull down (Top Left), pull down to Audio Object
In the "Channel" pop up (Left, bottom section) select>Rewire (Left, right, 3,4... What ever you want.
Double Click the Audio Object to expand it
Pan Left or right, or whatever you need.
    Rename if you wish
Do the same for the other stereo sideNow's the fun part. Assign these stereo pairs to a bus (above the fader, the default is "Out 1-2")
    Go to the Mixer window
Double click the Bus you assigned, this puts it in the arrange window
    Arrange window
Name the Bus "Rewire" or "ReDrum" or something great like that.
Now you can use it like a stereo pair (which I wish Logic had) for automation and effects and such.

  • You can't use this version of the application "logic pro" with this version of os x

After installing all of Logic Studio (i.e. install dvd, audio content 1-3, jam packs 1-3), my laptop concludes that everything is installed successfully, however, when going to open to Logic, error icon appears and says:
'you can't use this version of the application "logic pro" with this version of os x'

Thank you! I found that just after I entered the question. I reinstalled everything two times, updated software, but was still having issues. But, I specifically updated the 9.1.8 (which was supposedly included in my standard software update). Guess I needed to give it some extra attention and affection.
P.S. - Why do I feel like the more I upgrade versions of OS X, the worse off I am getting or am? Isn't it supposed to be opposite...isn't it supposed to make things better...come on, mac...where you at? mt. lion or mavericks. I'm downloading Snow Leopard to make some programs run. (um, yeah).

  • Audio input,  Logic Pro with Lion

When I change my Audio input, I have to reboot my computer for the change to work. I am using Logic Pro with Lion on a macbook Pro. I am switching between a Mbox Mini3 and a Blue Yeti Mic. Is this normal?

What happens if you disable, then enable "software monitoring"?
I would imagine it has more to do with Avid's Core Audio drivers for the MBox.
Also, this is a personal preference:  I never have the Mac using the pro-audio interfaces, only Logic.
In Audio-Midi Setup and in System Preferences/Sound I only have "Built-In Audio" selected, my recording interface is for use with Logic only.

  • Logic Pro 8 & Reason 4 Rewire

Hello my friends. Please, help me out. After long amount of trials, I finally was able to have the sounds from Reason 4 come out through Logic Pro 8 of Logic Studio. In order for that to happen I had an Inst (Aux) track open receiving the Reason Mix left and Right channels and sending to Output channels 1 & 2. The problem is that the sound comes out ******** with a certain amount of delay. No delay is programmed neither in Reason nor in Logic. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I've had a slightly different but perhaps related problem with Reason in both Logic and Digital Performer. In my case using the Redrum drum machine in Reason and the pattern sequencer in Reason, when you start playback it will make kind of a cut-off squelch kick drum sound on beat 1, then complete silence for about 2 and a half beats, then the sound of the beat will kick in mid-measure.
I haven't done a lot of testing about when and where this happens in the sequence; I work around it by programming 2 measures of silence (pattern D-8 perhaps) into the Redrum before the start of the song and starting the playback from that. It seems like even doing that if you start playback at measure 1 beat 1 it will make that kick drum squelch on the first beat.
Sorry my comments are so vague as to be of little concrete help but I just wanted to point out that I've also had issues on starting up playback of drum beats in Reason when using it in ReWire mode.

  • Would Love To See Logic Pro With Its Owe DSP Card's And Mixer Like Protools

I been using Logic seen Logic AV 3.0 when it was emagic, I must say I love what Apple has done for it! But one thing I like to see done with Logic is, it's owe hardware like protools, I know apple can do this!! Like DSP cards and a Pro mixer if you all put this together you will below Protools OUT the box....Protools App. CAN NOT run with Logic Pro....The only thing Protools got! Is hardware That's It So please Apple make a DSP system for Logic Pro One Day Soon
And to all the Protools user don't get mad it me, it's cool and all
but protools only has two windows to work with! lol

When A native system is as reliable as PT then I would say yes. But for me dedicated hardware is the way to go. I also use DP5.12 as a front end for PT. i is nice to see DP5 doing the command immediatly without the native processing checking a million things before executing.
Eventually Native may replace DSP cards, But DSP manufacturer can also create DSP card that will be immensly more powerfull. So you dont have to loose realibility and sound quality as well as the spinning wheels. Predicting the future is always a loosing proposition
As for the UAD plug ins I heard the DSP card are not that powerfull. Actually someone was saying in Electronic Musician that UAD should go native because the DSP cards are more of a nuissance since Native can handle a lot more than thoses cards.
    Eric
We'll have to see how stable LP8 is before we can pass judgement on it. LP7 has been pretty crash-resistant to me, but I do have to concede that it hasn't been as crash-proof as my PTLE 002R system, which has crashed twice in 2 1/2 years.
However, you seem to contradict yourself above when you say that DSP manufacturers can make extremely powerful DSP cards, but then you say the UAD isn't very powerful. Who's to say that UA aren't going to release a new UAD2 card with 5x the DSP for about the same cost? Granted, Digidesign's DSP engineers can do the same thing - but do you really think they'll be in the same price range as TC and UAD? There will be a big difference in the entry cost: TC/UAD - $1000 or so; PT HD - $12k - for bare bones entry level; $15-20K for a 196k PT HD3 system without a controller.
If Apple is smart, they will fix the bugs in LP7 and upgrade the audio editing to match ProTools. That's all they really need to do to make a LP8 a killer app. Match LP8 up with Apogee's Symphony and you'll get latency in the same range as with PT HD - for only about $4-7K depending on how much i/o you need.
The track record for Digi hardware is that they seem to get about 3 years out of their DSP cards before upgrading to a new generation. I think the Accel cards are only half-way through that life cycle, which means no new Digi DSP for another year and a half. If not this year, then next year Digi will be looking at ways to keep their market share against LP8; that's my prediction.

  • Logic rewired with Reason midi controller issue.

I use Logic 7.2.3 rewired with Reason and for some "reason" I can't get Reason to recognize my controller which is connected via MIDI to the Digi 003. Any ideas?

Interesting question.. Usually, variation in velocity is a desirable thing, to be able to play an instrument expressively. However, if you want to make your notes all equal velocity, an easy way to do this is with the inspector. Make sure that no regions are selected in the arrange window (so that the inspector says 'midi through'). Then adjust the 'dynamics' setting to 'off' (or whatever the actual terminology is), from that point on, anything you play on any instrument will have the velocity ignored. You can also set this kind of thing up for individual instruments, using the instrument parameter box just below the inspector.

  • Logic Pro 8, Reason, and Rewire

I have been trying to get redrum to record into Logic. I have it all set up correctly because I can get other instruments in Reason to work and I can get the drums to work if I manually do it with a keyboard, but I cannot get the sequencer to record.
I have been trying forever to try and figure out this problem.
I have a track in the mixer and in the actual Logic recording section. The redrum via rewire is ran through channels 3/4 and output 1/2. In the mixer, you can see the levels jumping and hear it when I run the sequence in Reason, but when I hit record, nothing records in Logic.
I feel silly because I feel like I'm only missing one small step, but I have no idea what it is and I can't get any of my drum tracks recorded. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you trying to record the audio output of a redrum sequence, or are you trying to record the midi notes of a redrum?
For audio, just bounce your drum loop in Reason and load into Logic as an AIFF, or run Reason via rewire, and program your midi notes for redrum through Logic, or set midi channel changes to strat and stop/ select which patter via CCs and record in Logic.
I don't think you can record the midi notes that Redrum makes with it's sequencer into Logic.
Here's a simple setup to get redrum working with Logic.
    Open Logic, then open Reason
create an external midi track, in the library select Reason
In Logic, create a bus, and select the input to be Reason rewire output R/L
In Reason, make your redrum with the patch you want.
Back in Logic, select the track, and in library select the redrum.
Now notes recorded into that channel will trigger the notes of the redrum, but the audio will come into the bus you made.
    Hope that helps.

  • Apogee 2/Logic Pro With iBook

Simple: All I want to do is record VOs using Logic Pro and my Apogee 2 interface hooked with a Neumann Mic. To save money, thought I'd buy a refubished model. Can I do this? Especially with Apogee 2? If yes, what specifications should I look for in either ibooks, mac airs or powerbook?  Thank you so much for any help

    Hello,
The system requirements for a Apogee 2 is:
Computer: Intel Mac 1.5GHz or faster
Memory: 2 GB RAM minimum, 4 GB recommended
    OS: 10.6.4 or greater
Connection and Power: USB, powered by any available USB port on the computer (DC power optional)
This out rules any iBook and PowerBook Models as they don't have an Intel processor.
What you should be looking for is a MacBook, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.
Any of those models would be compatible with this device.
My recommendation would be a MacBook Pro.
Maybe a Early 2009 onward model if your looking to buy secondhand.
This device is Mountain Lion compatible, so a new MacBook would work fine too.
    Best of Luck

  • Controlling Logic Pro with an iPad

I am wanting to purchase Apple's Logi Pro, but I have a question that hopefully someone in the Apple community can help me with.
I do a lot of MIDI editing, so the actual time I REALLY need a music keyboard is well ... Not a lot.
Is there any way I can use my iPad mini as a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard controller and have Logic Pro on my Mac Retina laptop receive its signals ( it's MIDI data, velocity, etc.)?
I usually start my notes with MIDI Input then refine via  on screen with the mouse in the MIDI editor.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • Logic Pro 7 & Reason 3.0 - Cycle Mode Sync

    Hi Forum,
I am using Logic Pro 7 and reason 3.0 simultaniously via rewire. I am having a problem when playing back a song in cycle mode.
I select a section (let's say bars 1 - 8) to loop in cycle mode, but when I play the selected section it does not loop smoothly. When the SPL reaches the end of the cycle selection point (end of bar 8) and proceeds to start at bar 1 again, I hear a skip in the audio. It does not loop perfectly like I want it to.
Can someone please suggest why this is occuring and how I could correct this problem so that it loops smoothly and perfectly?
    Thank you.

  • Logic Pro with M-Audio Keystation Help

I just got an M-Audio Keystation for use in my studio, and for some reason I can not get any sound. I am using my Logic on a G5 and i have it synched with my Mackie D8B in HUI mode. I know that the input of the Keystation is working correctly, as I can see it working in Logic, but the sound is no where in sight. Im guessing since I have the audio through the D8B it has something to do with that, because other tracks with work in Logic, but the keystation won't. Any ideas????

Select an audio instrument track and assign an instrument such as an EVP88 and try it out.
