SyndicationAgent.app on 10.4.11 Yes or No ?

I just upgraded to 10.4.11 on a Power PC Dual 2.7 Tower. Right away I got this pop up
"SyndicationAgent.app has been updated. Do you want to allow the new version to access the same keychain items ( such as passwords) as the previous version
This change is permanent and affects all keychain items used by SyndicationAgent"
So I google the message and read that I should not allow the new version to access the same keychains, something about a slow down in performance ?
I see it has something to do with RSS feeds so I deleted all mine and its still there.
Would someone please advise me about this ?
Thanks in advance...

Hello all,
1st off thanks to the Moderators for sorting out the problem with the pics on my last post. 2nd thanks for all the replies in trying to solve this annoying problem.
I am nowhere near a technical as you guys and this was the first time I had used Terminal. I tried entering "sudo mv /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase.old"
after I done this this came up "Password:" I just assumed is was the password for the system. Keyed it in and it said "mv: /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase: No such file or directory" not good I thought.
Tried again a few times, rebooted but it still doesn't work. One of the other applications this happens with is GarageSale.
I will post the screen grabs of what pop's up from when I plug my iPhone in, just incase this helps at all.
This is what pop's up first and if you click details these are what is hiding:
Then this is under the tabs:
I read all the info on 43Folders but it was just to much of something I don't understand. If someone has the solution and can put it in "layman terms" I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance
Stewart

  • IPhone + iTunes sync - syndicationagent.app problem

I'm a new iPhone user and whenever I sync my iPhone to iTunes, I always get a popup saying that the SyndicationAgent.app has been updated and needs access to my keychain again. I click on "Change All" and after a minute or so the pop up eventually clears but always returns again when I re-sync my iPhone.
I've tried uninstalling/re-installing iTunes (8.2) and Safari (4 beta) but the problem still occurs. I don;t even know what Syndication Agent.app is supposed to be doing - I gather it has something to do with RSS feeds from Safari?
Does anyone know how I can get rid of this popup whenever I sync? Or can I get rid of the Agent.app? (will this cause other problems?)
    I'm running tiger 10.4.11.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I suspect there is a file system issue on your Mac. Repair permissions with Disk Utility, and also verify your HD. If Verify finds errors, start your Mac with the OS X install disc and repair with the utility there,

You can delete and re-download the application. Other than that you need to check with the developer of the application

  • Little Snitch catches SyndicationAgent.app

    HI all,
Simple question, maybe. I recently updated (yesterday) from 10.3.9 to 10.4.3, and now to X 4.4, and I use "LIttle Snitch" to keep an eye on what applications call home. Do any of you know what SyndicationAgent .app does? It calls out about 2 times an hour and I don't like that level of contact to any place I don't know. So do any of you know what that app does? Jim

It looks like an RSS utility for Safari.

    Hi,
I am Oracle Apps HRMS Technical Consultant.
I wanted to know,if we can implement Digital Signatures in XML Reports for Oracle Apps HRMS 11i Aplication.
If yes, what is the approach to do so.
    Your quick response is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Aasma Sayyad.

    Hi Aasma,
The standard BI Publisher is part of EBS applications.
Most of the EBS reports(R12) are based on BI Publisher.
If you check the responsibility 'XML Publisher Administrator' you will see all the templates used in the application.
Your technical team should already know this.
On the other hand OBIEE would need separate licences.
But for you BI Publisher would do.
    Cheers,
    Vignesh

  • Should SyndicationAgent be appearing in my Dock?

Yes, I know what this application does -- but its behavior changed recently, apparently when I upgraded to 10.4.3. It now appears in the Dock when it runs. It bounces, runs for a few seconds, then quits. Is this normal behavior?'
If not, how do I get it to return to running invisibly?
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Can you locate the following file in the Finder:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Syndication.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Syn dicationAgent.app/Contents/Info.plist
Note: to get inside of the SyndicationAgent.app application, Control-click on its icon and choose "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu that appears.
Open that Info.plist file in TextEdit and see if you find the following text near the bottom:
    <pre> <key>LSBackgroundOnly</key>
    <string>1</string>
    </pre>
The does the <string> value show as 1, or is it 0?
If it is indeed 1, it sounds like your Launch Services database cache file may be corrupted. You can fix that with the following AppleScript: http://homepage.mac.com/mdouma46/images/LaunchServicesDatabaseRebuild.zip (.zip, ~8 KB).
If it's 0, just let us know an we can go from there.
    Hope this helps...

  • Can the ipod touch get the same apps that an iphone can get?

I want to get a ipod touch but I was wondering if it can get the same exact apps as the iphone..

Yes, all apple moble devices should be able to get the same apps.

  • My husband has an iPhone 5 but he has never had his own Apple ID.  I want to create one for him - but what will happen to his apps when I make the change on his phone? will he have to re-download them all and re-pay for them (if not free?)

I guess I don't think it's smart for him to "share" my ID - but am afraid of what I'll do to his phone (apps, really) if I go into the phone and change him to a new ID.
    Any thoughts?

If you want seperate accounts for managing apps and purchasing content, basically yes, you need two account and would need to repurchase. However, if you just want seperate ID for iMessgae, icloud and such, you can do that and still continue sharing the same Id for apps and itunes.

  • Very unhappy with new podcast app...how can I get podcasts back into normal music app or possibly go back to iOS5?

Just "upgraded" to iOS 6.0.1. Thanks to the new "Podcast App" I can no longer keep my podcasts combined with my music. I don't want access to search new podcasts, but seems like I'm forced to have access to this section of the iTunes store as it comes with the podcast app, even when the iTunes store is turned off in the Restrictions section under General Settings. I can probably tell iTunes that my podcasts are really "music" by using the "get info" option in iTunes, but then it won't let me listen to it at double-speed, which is the only way I listen to podcasts. I'm very frustrated. Is there anyway around this or a way to "downgrade"?
If any Apple folks are listening please give us the option of how to listen to our podcasts. It's pointless to have to download one more app when it worked great the way it was. What is the point of separating them??????

"in which case it will" force install the app ... So Yes iTunes will force install the app as I said. My gripe is with Apple yet again forcing a change onto their customers. I use iTunes for sync, so no matter how many times I delete the crappy app it will be forced back on me at the next sync. Most apps have a "remove" option in iTunes but not podcasts. Again, there is no way to stop that I can see. If you know a way to stop this iTunes behavior please document it here. Thanks at least for these forums for aggrieved Apple customers having a chance to find solutions to these issues.

  • How to reinstall old app purchased on iphone that is no longer available in App Store?

A couple years ago I purchased a Colorado maps app (I can't remember the name) from the App Store. The computer that I had it backed up on crashed, so I had to reinstall iTunes on a fresh hard drive.
I still have the backup files of the hard drive that had the app backed up on it. But I don't know how to access the files for that lost app.
Is there a way to reinstall or recover old apps no longer available in the app store from an old backup of itunes or something?
    Thanks

You're actually overthinking it. You have the backup of that app of your old HD, yes? On Vista, go to:
    c:\Users\[Username]\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Mobile Applications
The tricky part is finding the app name, since you've forgotten it, but try to go with the obvious names first. "Colorado.ipa" etc. Try Appshopper.com's search feature, to possibly refresh your memory. When you've found it, make a copy of it, and install it on your new iTunes Mobile Apps folder. Click on it, and let it load. You'll see it in iTunes (if you're using the same account as before). Good luck.

  • There's an app on my phone that's only showing up in my search.  How do I find this?  It's not in any folder.

There's an app on my phone that I can't find.  It shows up in the App Store, in iTunes and search.  But I can't find it.  Any help is appreciated!  thanks.

    Did you downloaded the app?
Do you have more than 11 pages of apps?
If it's yes to both questions, you have to connect and select in computer iTunes to see more than 11 pages and arrange it there.

  • Is there ONE single app available for TASK and CALENDAR both which can be synched with Google account for OSX, iPhone, iPad

    Hi guys,
I have been searching to death to find ONE great app which:
1- handles both calendar (events) & To-Do list (task).
2- connects to googla account (both calendar & task)
3- should be availabe in Mac OS (OSX), iPhone & iPad (iOS) & Android.
For instance, Pocket Informant, Calengoo or BusyCal.
All of them takes care of the first, but fail in at least one of the remaining features.
    Pocket informant:
    1- Yes
    2- Calender: Yes, Task: No
3- No Mac OS X version but it gives to web-based app (15$).
    Calengoo:
    1- Yes
    2- Yes
3- No Mac OS X version.
    BusyCal:
    1- Yes
    2- Calender: Yes, Task: No
3- No Portable Version. (iOS & Android).
There is no one or combined solution for this!!! If there is no single software to take care of both, please give me a solution  but keep in your mind that ONE app is very important to me on a single device not two because I know already that!
    At least
    HELP me plz!!

    Hi,
here is a schematic that I *Think* should work, but I haven't bought BusyCal 2 yet.  Reminders syncs with Toodledo, which syncs with Pocket Informant (I've tested this, and can now create PI tasks by talking to Siri); Reminders also syncs w/ BusyCal 2, so Busycal *should* be able to create, edit and delete tasks that will appear on Pocket Informant, and the reverse *should* be true.  Likewise, iCal syncs w/ both BusyCal 2 and Pocket Informant's appointments.  Thus BusyCal becomes your desktop hub, and everything *should* be sync'd up with PI on your iOS device.  I don't know anything about Android.
Siri —> "Reminders" <—> "Toodledo" <—> "Pocket Informant" tasks
                        I
                  "BusyCal 2" (desktop)
                        I
                     "iCal" <—> "Pocket Informant" appointments
