Syning iCal Contacts to iPod

Not sure if this is a post for the iSync forum, or for iPod or for .Mac (got no help in the iPod forum). Can't get Contacts/Address book info to sync in my Ipod. have a brand new 80 gig photo iPod. The Calendar syncs great and I love it. But when I pull up the address/conttacts --- all I get is name and email. Am not getting the other fields -- esp the data from the phone fields. Am I doing something wrong? - david in KC

all solved except the Birthday field. Can't seem to get the iPod to accept the birth dates in the Contact cards. It puts them in the calendar, but not the contact cards

  • Syncing Address Book contacts with iPod

I know some people will think this post should be in the iPod forum but I have realised that it is not my iPod beccasue I tried using a different iPod and the same problem happened. Anyway...the problem is that when I choose to sync Address Book contacts with iPod it comes up with this message:
    No contacts available
Contact syncinig cannot be enabled because there are no contacts available. Do you want to open Address Book and create contacts now?
And gives me the options: Cancel and Open Address Book
I have tried deleting several different preferences for iTunes, Address Book and iSync (just incase).
I don't know what else to do, I know I can manually add my contacts by exporting them all as a vCard but it would be so much easier if iTunes could do it. Please help if you know anything!

I've got Calenders syncing again, not sure how I did it. I deleted the one of the folders in /Users/Alex/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local/clientdata/
I found that in each folder there is a clientname.txt file with the name of what data is in the folder e.g. iCal, Safari, Keychain, Mail.
I deleted the iCal one and iTunes seems to be syncing it now. So I looked for a folder with Address Book in the clientname.txt file but there wasn't one. I am wondering whether that's the reason!

Probably because you did not tell the iPod to sync the calendar in iTunes.

  • ITunes could not contact the iPod software update server

I am a teacher managing many iPod touches.
I am trying to update the ipod software to version 3.1.3 but using my macbook (10.5.8) I cannot reach the update server and a I get the following error - "iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server". I am connected to the internet, I can access the iTunes store no problem.
Using my windows XP laptop I can access the update server and I am using the same network ID and the same proxy settings.
    Any ideas?

Forget the wireless modem part of the question. I tried plugging directly into my pc and still have the same problem...very frustrating!

  • "itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet" Help?

Hello all, new to the forums.
I've been recieving the error message "itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected to the internet". This problem didn't occur at all for the past 2 years of using itunes.
I've already scanned through numerous websites and forums for help, but none of them worked.
This  set of instructions resulted in no change to any of the problems, though iTunes lists that as the supposed solution.
    # Open Internet Options from control panel.
    # Click the Connections tab.
    # Click the LAN Settings button.
    # Select the Automatically detect settings checkbox.
Others include installing IE7, which that didn't work either.
    Can anyone help?

  • 'itunes could not contact the ipod software...' On Mac!

    Hi there!
When I try to restore my new 5th Gen 30G iPod using iTunes, I get an error message saying 'itunes could not contact the ipod software update server because you are not connected ot the Internet'. But I can use the iTunes Store, and various other on-line applications.
There is an article on the Apple site about this problem for Windows, but there's no Mac-based solution. I'm having to restore my iPod thanks to everyone's favourite error message, (-48). Any help much appreciated!

I am having the same problem on my mac - is there anyone out there than can help us on this issue?

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
    As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books.

  • I recently purchased new Mac Mini with Lion installed. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini.

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini with Lion installed. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini. Everything else syncs great, and iCal syncs from my Mini to my Touch. My Touch has the latest iOS installed. I have tried rebooting my Touch, removing the sync calendars option from iTunes>Info and checking it again after applying and closing iTunes, and restarting my Mini. Any help will be appreciated!

    1. Make sure iPod is set up to be used as an external hard disk.
    2. Connect iPod to your computer. The iPod appears as a hard disk on your desktop or in windows explorer.
    3. Open the iPod hard disk.
    4. Open the folder named "Contacts".
    5. Find the vCard for the contact you want to delete.
    6. Drag the vCard to the recycle bin.
