Syntax error in code

Hi everyone,
Can anyone please tell me what is the syntax error in the following code when run in 11g.
FUNCTION plch_func (check_in IN BOOLEAN)
RETURN VARCHAR2
AS
BEGIN
RETURN CASE
WHEN check_in THEN '123'
WHEN TRUE THEN '456'
--WHEN SYSDATE < plch_now () THEN '789'
END ;
END plch_func;
Thanks.

Hi,
Are you getting any errors, cannot see anything wrong (syntactically).
SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION plch_func (check_in IN BOOLEAN)
  2    RETURN VARCHAR2 AS
  3  BEGIN
  4    RETURN CASE
  5             WHEN check_in THEN '123'
  6             WHEN TRUE THEN '456'
  7           --WHEN SYSDATE < plch_now () THEN '789'
  8           END;
  9  END plch_func;
10  /
Function created.

  • Bug: syntax error in code editor breaks layout and redrawing windows incorrect

    I'm working with "SQL Developer" version:
    Oracle IDE    4.0.0.13.80
    Plataforma Java(TM)    1.7.0_45
    installed on windows 7  64 bits.
    when I execute some ddl command in the code editor with syntax error, all layout windows are incorrectly drawn, and I have to close "SQL Developer" application to go on.
    Example:
       COMMENT ON COLUMN "TABLE"."COLUMN1" IS 'comments on column 1';
       COMMENT ON COLUMN "TABLE"."COLUMN2" AS 'comments on column 2';
    First comment is correctly aplied but second comment has a syntax error (AS is wrong) but you no receive error output, layout it hangs.
    I tested with thick/OCI and using jdbc, and I always go to the same problem.

    Good Morning
    Did you ever get this working without restoring ?

    Hi David,
    please check the default trace. It may contain the entry:
    Error in compiling : java.io.IOException: Not enough space
    If that's the case, maybe there's too little space for the swap file/device.
    You should ensure that at least 2X (preferably 3X) of Heap (-Xmx) is configured as real swap
    Hope that helps.

  • Query code cotains Syntax Errors

    Hello Experts,
    In the process of upgrading from 4.6 to 6.0 ECC SAP version, we had some issues at the moment of testing Queries from SQ01 transaction, nevertheless almost all the problems with queries were solved by regenerating them all over again from SQ01 for Queries and SQ02 for Infosets.
    Everything was OK so far, until I tested this Query related to PCH Logical Database and realized that It had Syntax Errors and can't run, and the other 5 Queries related to the same Logical Database are having the same Syntax Errors and they can not be fixed by executing the Query from SQ01 or regenerating the Infoset (PCHORG) from SQ02.
    I guess the Syntax Errors must be fixed by regenerating the code in the new version, but how can I do this?
    Or, is there another process I am skipping to achieve this?
    Any ideas on this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello VitorDFPinheiro thanks for your answer,
    I tried to modify the errors manually but in first Instance this is not possible whitout an Access Key and secondly I think this is not the best practice due the code for queries is generated Automaticaly.
    Nevertheless I tried to correct this syntax errors by copying the code and pasted it into a new Z program and compile it, the compiler threw even more errors when I corrected the first one, so I think that this is not the way to procced.
    I guess that there should be a way to "regenerate" the query and this "regeneration" must reorganize the code and its syntax.
    Any other suggestions?

    Thank you

    I copy and pasted your code and got the error. I rewrote the code and it went away. I have had problems in DW with templates that gave me errors when everything was good but the only way to fix it was to redo the template from scratch. Sounds stange, but true. The only other thing, and the experts here might chime in is to put the scripts in comment tags like below.

      for(i=0;!x&&d.layers&&i<d.layers.length;i++) x=MM_findObj(n,d.layers[i].document);

  • ABAP Syntax error in this code - Could anyone help?

    Hi,
    I have this code which runs fine in our non-unicode SAP system.
    REPORT  ECC5_OFFSETS.
    DATA: W_KONV TYPE KONV.
    DATA: TKOMK LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF KOMK
                     WITH KEY KEY_UC
                     INITIAL SIZE 2
                     WITH HEADER LINE.
    DATA: TKOMK2 type STANDARD TABLE OF KOMK
                     WITH KEY KEY_UC
                     INITIAL SIZE 2.
    * Get some test data
    SELECT SINGLE * INTO W_KONV FROM  KONV
           WHERE  KNUMV  = '0000000061'.
    MOVE-CORRESPONDING W_KONV TO TKOMK.
    APPEND TKOMK.
    tkomk2[] = TKOMK[].
    * Original non-Unicode compliant code
    DATA: LENGTH_KEY_TKOMK(3) TYPE P.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <TKOMK_KEY> like TKOMK2.
    DESCRIBE DISTANCE BETWEEN TKOMK-MANDT AND TKOMK-SUPOS
              INTO LENGTH_KEY_TKOMK
    * ( Original Unicode syntax fix! )
              IN BYTE MODE.
    * Copy all the fields between these two into TKOMK_KEY field-symbol.
    * ( In Unicode this assignment fails, causing short dump at read )
    ASSIGN TKOMK2(LENGTH_KEY_TKOMK) TO <TKOMK_KEY>.
    * Read the current record.
    READ TABLE TKOMK2 WITH KEY <TKOMK_KEY>.
    But I get the following error message in our UNICODE complaint SAP system:
    <b>"<TKOMK_KEY>" cannot be a table, a reference, a string, or contain any of these objects.</b>
    Does anyone know how I could get around this/suggest a solution?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Sorry if I'm being unclear.
    My requirements are twofold:
    1)the line of code:
    ASSIGN TKOMK2(LENGTH_KEY_TKOMK) TO <TKOMK_KEY>
    does not assign anything to the fields symbol <TKOMK_KEY>
    2)The read statement does not like the fields symbol <TKOMK_KEY> being used as a key.
    Both these bits of code worked in our 4.6b system but now in the ECC5 environemtn I get syntax errors.
    Let me know if you need anything else!

  • ABAP Runtime ERROR Error Code & Syntax Error in program SAPLSFES

    Hi,
    I am installing SAP XI 3.0 and as part of that I have installed the ABAP and Java WAS. I am applying SPs for the ABAP stack and I successfully applied the BASIS SPs 10 and 11(applied seperately). I was applying the SPs 12 and 13(together) and after running for some time the system crashed and I restarted the O/S and SAP to see that the SPs didn't go thru. Now when I try to log on using SAP GUI, it says "<b>ABAP Runtime ERROR Error Code</b>" which is blank and at the Bottom there is this message "<b>Syntax Error in program SAPLSFES</b>".
    Pls any one help me ,
    Kind Regards,
    Gopi.

    Hi Gopi,
       If u r applying patches, the system would be running a background job SAPLSTPA. Hence you willnot be able to login till the job is complete.
      You can check the job completion in the Windows MMC console.

  • Code syntax error in header using a template?

    Now running CS5 DW in a 32 bit Windows/Vista ultimate environment. The improved error messages have brought to light a problem that I apparently have had for a long time but didn't know it as CS4 simply flagged the line but no message.
    Many of my site pages use a template http://a0540807.uscgaux.info/Templates/A0540807_Skeleton_2010.dwt
    If I build or edit a page using this template in CS5, when in code view I see "There is a syntax error on line 57. Code hinting may not work until you fix this error.  Line 57 is within the header of the page and is simply </script>
    But if I simply detach the template from the page, the error goes away and it says no syntax errors.
    So I am confused, is there an issue with the code or is this a Dreamweaver issue dealing with template usage?
    While the error appears cosmetic, I keep wondering what to do to eliminate. Apparently, I have had this situation a long time as Line 57 is also identified back in CS4 but no error message until CS5. Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks.
    Andy

    I don't actually think there is any problem with your page...run one of your child pages through the W3C validator: http://validator.w3.org/ . I cast a page from your template and it came through with flying colors!

  • Syntax Error in Login Code PHP

    Hello,
    I am currently building my first log-in page and have come to the following issue. I am getting Syntax Error's on lines 39 & 49.
    I'm sure it's something simple that I am missing here?
    NOTE* Excuse me if I didn't post the code correctly, I am new to the forums.

    Thanks for the reply!
    I fixed what you noted above and will look into not using the "die" command, I understand what you are saying about not using it and why
    However, here is where I am getting the syntax errors specifically:
    $_SESSION{'username'}=$dbusername;
    else
    echo"Incorrect Password";
    <syntax Error>
    else
    die "that username doesnt exist";
    else
    die ("Please Enter a username and password");

  • Matlab syntax errors are not caught and reported when code is executed in a LabVIEW Matlab script node

    I want to be able to catch errors that occur during the execution of Matlab code in a LabVIEW Matlab script node. According to my understanding of the documentation, errors of this type should be available at the "error out" signal point on the Matlab script node. I have noticed that even deliberately generating matlab syntax errors will not produce an error output. See the attached vi for an example.
    Attachments:
    matlab.vi ‏13 KB

    I ran your example VI and the is what I got in the Error Out cluster:
    "Code 1050
    Error occured while executing script. Error message from server: ??? This is an error
    . in matlab[1].vi"
    If you are generating custom error messages in Matlab I would suggest passing them back to LabVIEW through output variables in the script node.

  • Designer syntax errors in correct code.

    I have added some trigger code to a bound item. The designer syntax checker finds errors in the code but the generated form runs correctly. It appears that the syntax checker doesn't like DECLARE. The code doesn't do anything and I believe it is fine but I would like to get the syntax checker to stop complaining about it. Any suggestions on how I might arrange things to stop the syntax error messages would be appreciated. Here is the offending code with error messages:
    DECLARE
    item_id     Item;
    BEGIN
    item_id := FIND_ITEM('M1.STATE');
    END;
    The Syntax Checker found the following errors:-
    PLS-00103: (Line 1) Encountered the symbol "DECLARE" when expecting one of the following:
    begin function package pragma procedure separate subtype type
    use <an identifier> <a double-quoted delimited-identifier>
    form current cursor external language
    The symbol "begin" was substituted for "DECLARE" to continue.
    PLS-00103: (Line 20) Encountered the symbol "end-of-file" when expecting one of the following:
    begin case declare end exception exit for goto if loop mod
    null pragma raise return select update while with
    <an identifier> <a double-quoted d
    [2] error(s), [0] warning(s)

    This will not work correctly in 32-bit Windows (or 64-bit) The type of wParam *must* be WPARAM, the type of lParam *MUST* be LPARAM, and for a dialog handler the return type should be BOOL. The old _export keyword no longer exists, and is not needed in
    Win32. FAR is a macro with an empty body and its appearance in all places can be deleted. The quaint and confusing PASCAL keyword may still work, but it would be better to use the now-correct term CALLBACK. Since this is clearly antique Win16 code, there may
    be other problems dealing with size of integers. The types int, long, DWORD, UINT and others all represent 32-bit values. The return type for window handlers must have the return type LRESULT, and for dialog handlers, BOOL. All wParam and lParam types must
    be changed as I indicated. Note that for Win16, wParam was 16-bit and lParam 32-bit. For Win32, WPARAM, LPARAM and LRESULT are all 32-bit values, and for Win64 they are 64-bit values. Any place the code casts a pointer to an integer type, the code is inherently
    incorrect. You must use types like INT_PTR, UINT_PTR, DWORD_PTR and other _PTR-suffixed types for such casts; in Win32 these are pointer-sized integer types (32-bit) and in Win64 they are pointer-sized integer types (64-bit). Types like int, long, DWORD, etc.
    are 32-bit values in both Win32 and Win64. Converting code to run on Win32/64 from Win16 requires great caution, because the programming "standards" that were taught for Win16 did not plan on true platform portability, and programmers were taught
    terrible techniques such as declaring wParam as WORD and LPARAM as long. And casting pointers to ints and back. All of these techniques lead to disaster.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 and Coldfusion 9 - Syntax Errors & Code Coloring

    I recently purchased Dreamweaver CS6.
    Also, I'm running Coldfusion 9 on Windows 7, but that's probably irrelevant.
    The issue is that Dreamweaver keeps on marking my files with syntax errors, and the code coloring gets all messed up.
    For instance, such function would indicate an error due to the #var#:
    <cfoutput><script>functionXYZ(#var#);<script><cfoutput>
    But this would work just fine:
    <script>functionXYZ(<cfoutput>#var#<cfoutput>);<script>
    The issue is that I have entire pages wrapped in cfoutput, redoing everything would take months.
    Or this would break the code coloring for the entire select as such:
    <select <cfif test eq 'test'>class="test"</cfif> name="selectbox">
    While this breaks the code coloring for the closing cfif as such:
    <select class="<cfif test eq 'test'>test</cfif>" name="selectbox">
