Syntax error in Unicode environment

Hi all,
I have below piece of code in 1 program ...
        do.
replace ',' with space into w_mbew.
           if sy-subrc > 0.
              exit.
           endif.
        enddo.
It works fine when unicode attribute set. But the moment i set the unicode attribute and activate the program, i get a syntax error which reads as below -
"W_MBEW" must be a character-type data object (data type C,N,D,T or String)"
The work area W_MBEW is of type MBEW.
Can anyone guide me to fix this error.
Will definitely reward points.
Amogh

Hello,
It seems like you're trying to replace a character in any field of W_MBEW. Try to make the replacement in a single field.

  • Syntax error in unicode conversion.

    Hi all,
I got a sytax error in uncode conversion.
The error is  "TAB_OBJK" and "' '" are not mutually convertible in a Unicode program"
    the code is
DATA: BEGIN OF TAB_OBJK OCCURS 0,
              OBKNR LIKE OBJK-OBKNR,
              OBZAE LIKE OBJK-OBZAE,
              END OF TAB_OBJK.
          MOVE SPACE TO TAB_OBJK.
          REFRESH TAB_OBJK.
    Please help me.
    Thanks,
    Naveen.

You have to remove the MOVe statement Naveen
The problem here is you are trying to move space to the whole internal table whose syntax is not like that.
If you want to move space to some of the fields , then try this
    MOVE space TO TAB_OBJK-OBKNR.
    MOVE space TO TAB_OBJK-OBZAE.

  • UNICODE ENVIRONMENT

    Hi All,
Can you tell me about the unicode envoronment.
What is  unicode enviroment & How to check the objects for unicode compatibility?
    Thanks And Regards
    Shruthi

    Hi,
    steps:
    go to the program attributes.
check the box " unicode check active" in order to make ur program unicode compatible & activate the program.
go to transaction UCCHECK & give the program name and execute.
all the error under unicode environment are shown.
here are few points about unicode environment.
    A Unicode SAP system
enables you to harness internet technologies better.
allows better integration with non-SAP products and seamless integration with existing SAP systems.
offers a superior platform for collaborative, cross-system business applications.
all languages and language combinations in the world!
allows you to install a central system for worldwide business processes, e.g. to gather and store aggregate customer data.
enables you to optimize your system landscape and reduce your costs.
Unicode provides the solution to the problem of multiple, possibly incompatible code pages:
Unicode currently defines over 98,000 characters, with room for over 1 million characters.
Unicode defines each character only once
Unicode can be used for the system code page, front end, and printing
In a Unicode SAP system you can display and maintain character data from any language with any logon language. For example, you can logon to your system in Japanese and maintain Russian data.
The size and scope of Unicode have made it the default character encoding of the Internet communication, such as XML, Java, and HTML, because Internet communication has to function no matter what the platform, no matter what the program, no matter what the language.
Will my ABAP programs work in a Unicode system?
Most programs should work without any modification, but you need to ensure that all programs comply with the stricter ABAP 6.10 syntax and semantics, which improve program efficiency and enable Unicode support. Note that all programs must be 6.10 compliant to run in a Unicode system and 6.10 compliant programs will also run in a non-Unicode system as well. In a non-Unicode system, programs do not have to be 6.10 compliant.
To check your program, use the transaction UCCHECK to determine if your programs are ABAP 6.10 compliant; In additional, programs should be tested to catch non-static errors that appear at run-time. Use the transaction SCOV to monitor the testing. See the Media Library for more information, as well as the ABAP documentation.
RFC communication between a Unicode and non-Unicode system requires a code page conversion between Unicode and the code page used by the RFC communication partner. In an MDMP system, the language keys and the corresponding code page are evaluated line-by-line to ensure that the correct conversion takes place. If a character can not be converted, a hash mark # U+0023 is the replacement character.

  • Syntax Error while running step 34 (35) after unicode conversion

    Hello,
We are converting our test system to Unicode to find out how to do it
in our production system. We are at step 34/35 (Starting RFC job's) in
the database installation so we are almost done but we have encounted a
problem that we can't find a solution to. The error log in Sapinst give this
    information:
    ERROR      2008-11-09 11:19:19 [iaxxrfcimp.cpp:1103]           CAbRfcImpl::performFunctionCall FRF-00025  Unable to call function.
    Error message: ?`>?/?????????>??????/_???&<?(????????????????????????????????????????????????? .
At the same time we can read the following text in dev_w1 (and dev_w0 and so on):
    A  *** ERROR => Syntax error in program SAPLBTCH                                 [abgen.c      1388]

The error don't always look the same, here is another example:
    A  *** ERROR => Syntax error in program SAPLSALC                                 [abgen.c      1388]

The common thing is Syntax error. If we try to log in to the system using SAP Gui we get this message: "Syntax error in program SAPMS380".
In the file dev_disp we can read a lot of these:

  • Getting Error Messages in UNICODE environment...

    Hi,
I am facing problem, while getting few error message when i tried to run query using OCCI in UNICODE environment.
    for eg.
    For error number ORA-32108
i am getting error message as
    &#21071;&#11585;&#12851;&#12337;&#14904;&#27936;&#30817;&#25376;&#27759;&#28021;&#8302;&#29295;&#28704;&#29281;&#28001;&#29797;&#29285;&#29472;&#31337;&#8293;&#28526;&#8308;&#28787;&#25445;&#26217;&#25961;&#2660;:
but in same environment for error number ORA-01017:
i am getting error message as "invalid username/password; logon denied".
Code i have used to get error message is as follows
String type here used is unicoded string.
    String strErrorCode(ex.getErrorCode());
    String strErrorMsg(ex.getUStringMessage().c_str());
Please let me know what i am doing wrong over here.
or is it a known behavior?
    Thanks in Advance.

you need to identify each cell in the formula.  this is because each has a different 'path'.  here is what you need:
    Sum(form1.#subform[0].Table1.Row2.TotalAllowable.form1.#subform[0].Table1.Row3.TotalAllowa bleform1.#subform[0].Table1.Row4.TotalAllowableform1.#subform[0].Table1.Row5.TotalAllowabl eform1.#subform[0].Table1.Row6.TotalAllowableform1.#subform[0].Table1.Row7.TotalAllowablef orm1.#subform[0].Table1.Row8.TotalAllowableform1.#subform[0].Table1.Row9TotalAllowableform 1.#subform[0].Table1.Row10.TotalAllowableform1.#subform[0].Table1.Row11TotalAllowableform1 .#subform[0].Table1.Row12TotalAllowableform1.#subform[0].Table1.Row13.TotalAllowableform1. #subform[0].Table1.Row14.TotalAllowableform1.#subform[0].Table1.Row15.TotalAllowable.form1 .#subform[0].Table1.Row16.TotalAllowable)
I know it looks horrible, but notice that each one has a different row number.  That is why you keep getting the error message.  Also, rename your row 16[1] or note the last entry of your calculation script should be row16[0].
    have fun.

  • [SOLVED] Php.ini syntax error, unexpected '&'

    Hi guys,
I'm having a trouble setting up a local hosted LAMP, I want to enable the error reporting and display, but it's giving me this error:
    [root@albert albert]# php
PHP: syntax error, unexpected '&' in /etc/php/php.ini on line 105
    Line 105:
    ; error_reporting
    Default Value: E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_STRICT & ~E_DEPRECATED ; this is the 105
    Development Value: E_ALL
    Production Value: E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED & ~E_STRICT
And when I access to on localhost/phpmyadmin:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function PMA_DBI_num_rows() in /usr/share/webapps/phpMyAdmin/libraries/navigation/Nodes/Node.class.php on line 408
When I comment the line 105,106,107, it works as I expected, but I can't see any error output...
    Here it's the entire php.ini:
    [PHP]
    ; About php.ini ;
; PHP's initialization file, generally called php.ini, is responsible for
; configuring many of the aspects of PHP's behavior.
; PHP attempts to find and load this configuration from a number of locations.
; The following is a summary of its search order:
; 1. SAPI module specific location.
; 2. The PHPRC environment variable. (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 3. A number of predefined registry keys on Windows (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 4. Current working directory (except CLI)
; 5. The web server's directory (for SAPI modules), or directory of PHP
    ; (otherwise in Windows)
; 6. The directory from the --with-config-file-path compile time option, or the
    ; Windows directory (C:\windows or C:\winnt)
; See the PHP docs for more specific information.
; The syntax of the file is extremely simple. Whitespace and lines
; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably guessed).
; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
; they might mean something in the future.
; Directives following the section heading [PATH=/www/mysite] only
; apply to PHP files in the /www/mysite directory. Directives
; following the section heading [HOST=www.example.com] only apply to
; PHP files served from www.example.com. Directives set in these
; special sections cannot be overridden by user-defined INI files or
; at runtime. Currently, [PATH=] and [HOST=] sections only work under
    ; CGI/FastCGI.
; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
    ; directive = value
; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from FOO=bar.
; Directives are variables used to configure PHP or PHP extensions.
; There is no name validation. If PHP can't find an expected
; directive because it is not set or is mistyped, a default value will be used.
    ; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression
    ; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), a quoted string ("bar"), or a reference to a
; previously set variable or directive (e.g. ${foo})
; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:
    ; | bitwise OR
    ; ^ bitwise XOR
    ; & bitwise AND
    ; ~ bitwise NOT
    ; ! boolean NOT
; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.
; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:
; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = None ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = "None" ; sets foo to the string 'None'
; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.
    ; About this file ;
; PHP comes packaged with two INI files. One that is recommended to be used
; in production environments and one that is recommended to be used in
    ; development environments.
; php.ini-production contains settings which hold security, performance and
; best practices at its core. But please be aware, these settings may break
; compatibility with older or less security conscience applications. We
; recommending using the production ini in production and testing environments.
; php.ini-development is very similar to its production variant, except it's
; much more verbose when it comes to errors. We recommending using the
; development version only in development environments as errors shown to
; application users can inadvertently leak otherwise secure information.
    ; Quick Reference ;
; The following are all the settings which are different in either the production
; or development versions of the INIs with respect to PHP's default behavior.
; Please see the actual settings later in the document for more details as to why
; we recommend these changes in PHP's behavior.

; some common settings and their meanings.
; By default, PHP is set to take action on all errors, notices and warnings EXCEPT
; those related to E_NOTICE and E_STRICT, which together cover best practices and

; Note: The php.ini-development file has this setting as E_ALL. This
; means it pretty much reports everything which is exactly what you want during
    ; development and early testing.
    ; Error Level Constants:
; E_ALL - All errors and warnings (includes E_STRICT as of PHP 5.4.0)
    ; E_ERROR - fatal run-time errors
    ; E_RECOVERABLE_ERROR - almost fatal run-time errors
    ; E_WARNING - run-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
    ; E_PARSE - compile-time parse errors
; E_NOTICE - run-time notices (these are warnings which often result
; from a bug in your code, but it's possible that it was
; intentional (e.g., using an uninitialized variable and
; relying on the fact it's automatically initialized to an
    ; empty string)
; E_STRICT - run-time notices, enable to have PHP suggest changes
; to your code which will ensure the best interoperability
; and forward compatibility of your code
; E_CORE_ERROR - fatal errors that occur during PHP's initial startup
    ; E_CORE_WARNING - warnings (non-fatal errors) that occur during PHP's
    ; initial startup
    ; E_COMPILE_ERROR - fatal compile-time errors
    ; E_COMPILE_WARNING - compile-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
    ; E_USER_ERROR - user-generated error message
    ; E_USER_WARNING - user-generated warning message
    ; E_USER_NOTICE - user-generated notice message
; E_DEPRECATED - warn about code that will not work in future versions
    ; of PHP
    ; E_USER_DEPRECATED - user-generated deprecation warnings
    ; Common Values:
; E_ALL (Show all errors, warnings and notices including coding standards.)

  • BODS 4.2 Cannot import the metadata table, RFC_ABAP_INSTALL_AND_RUN syntax error

Hi all, we installed BODS 4.2 server to substitute a 4.1, but we are facing the error:
Error: Cannot import the metadata table <name=T001>
RFC CallReceive error <Function /BODS/RFC_ABAP_INSTALL_AND_RUN: RFC_ABAP_RUNTIME_FAILURE -(Exception Key: Syntax error in program /BODS/SAPLBODS....
We already tried the solution for when people get the error related to unicode.
Also, we are able to pull data via extractors, it only fails when loading Tables....
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Dear,
You will have to import the new ABAP Function Group "BODS/BODS".
    Here are some details:
Installing Functions on the SAP Server
SAP BusinessObjects Data Services provides functions that support the use of the ABAP, BAPI, and
IDoc interfaces on SAP servers. You will need some or all of these functions in the normal operation
of the software in an SAP environment. These functions perform such operations as dynamically loading
and executing ABAP programs from Data Services, efficiently running preloaded ABAP programs,
allowing for seamless metadata browsing and importing from SAP servers, and reporting the status of
running jobs. Some of these functions read data from SAP NetWeaver BW sources.
You must upload the provided functions to your SAP server in a production environment. It is
recommended that you always upload the functions to your SAP server whether you are in a
development, test, or production environment. The functions provide seamless integration between
    Data Services and SAP servers.
The default installation places two function module files for SAP servers in the ...\Data
Services\Admin\R3_Functions\transport directory. You then upload these files to SAP servers
using the SAP Correction and Transport System (CTS) or manually. Using CTS allows for version
control as the functions evolve across releases.
The installation provides two versions of transport files (depending on the server version you are using)
to install the functions on the SAP server. To obtain the names of the latest transport files for installing
or upgrading these SAP server functions, see the readme.txt file
And I've found those files and text files in the local install folder....in:
    Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\admin\R3_Functions
    (that's where I've installed it).
There you'll find some descriptive txt as how to proceed.
After installing, it might happen that the executing user is missing some authorizations.
Here my authorizations team helped me by tracing the user and then adding the necessary rights.
Sure hope this will help you.

And this is the strange point: my source system is not a BI and my dataclasses .SQL files are not empty.
Me too i would expect that the files should be empty but instead they are full of object definitions.
For example i have APPL0.SQL that contains a list of all tables of ECC system, for example
    tab: MAMT
    sql:     CREATE TABLE "MAMT"

  • Syntax error in program "SAPLXRSA " -SENT

    Hi Guys,
I have done user exit in R/3 datasource when I do the test extraction using RSA3 and geting the data without any error. I've transport the requet to Test Box and tried to do the extraction in TestBox and getting the below SYNTAX Error message. Kindly advise it's very URGET. Thanks in advance.
    ShrtText
Syntax error in program "SAPLXRSA ".
    What happened?
    Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "SAPLRSAP" had to be terminated because one of the
    statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
In program "SAPLXRSA ", the following syntax error occurred
in the Include "ZXRSAU01 " in line 21:
"Field "ZOXPRO0043" is unknown. It is neither in one of the specified t"
"ables nor defined by a "DATA" statement. "DATA" statement."
Author and last person to change the Include are:
    Author "SAPCHEOLENG "
    Last changed by "CCEV200 "
    What can you do?
Please eliminate the error by performing a syntax check
(or an extended program check) on the program "SAPLXRSA ".
You can also perform the syntax check from the ABAP/4 Editor.
If the problem persists, proceed as follows:
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
is especially useful if you want to keep a particular message.
    Error analysis
In program "SAPLXRSA ", the following syntax error occurred:
"Field "ZOXPRO0043" is unknown. It is neither in one of the specified t"
"ables nor defined by a "DATA" statement. "DATA" statement."
    How to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
    1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->
    Save->Local File (unconverted)".
    2. A suitable printout of the system log
To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
    "System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
    supply the source code.
To do this, select the Editor function "Further Utilities->
    Upload/Download->Download".
    4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.

    Hello Raja,
I think some objects should still lying in the dev. server which are yet to be transported, also try to deactivate and reactivate the project for user exit for BW and transport it .
Also manually request can be created for transporting object "ZOXPRO0043" into quality environment and transport it .
Let us know the output for the same.
    Hope that helps.

  • ABAP Syntax error in this code - Could anyone help?

    Hi,
I have this code which runs fine in our non-unicode SAP system.
    REPORT  ECC5_OFFSETS.
    DATA: W_KONV TYPE KONV.
DATA: TKOMK LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF KOMK
                     WITH KEY KEY_UC
                     INITIAL SIZE 2
                     WITH HEADER LINE.
DATA: TKOMK2 type STANDARD TABLE OF KOMK
                     WITH KEY KEY_UC
                     INITIAL SIZE 2.
    * Get some test data
SELECT SINGLE * INTO W_KONV FROM  KONV
           WHERE  KNUMV  = '0000000061'.
    MOVE-CORRESPONDING W_KONV TO TKOMK.
    APPEND TKOMK.
    tkomk2[] = TKOMK[].
    * Original non-Unicode compliant code
    DATA: LENGTH_KEY_TKOMK(3) TYPE P.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <TKOMK_KEY> like TKOMK2.
DESCRIBE DISTANCE BETWEEN TKOMK-MANDT AND TKOMK-SUPOS
              INTO LENGTH_KEY_TKOMK
    * ( Original Unicode syntax fix! )
              IN BYTE MODE.
    * Copy all the fields between these two into TKOMK_KEY field-symbol.
    * ( In Unicode this assignment fails, causing short dump at read )
    ASSIGN TKOMK2(LENGTH_KEY_TKOMK) TO <TKOMK_KEY>.
    * Read the current record.
READ TABLE TKOMK2 WITH KEY <TKOMK_KEY>.
But I get the following error message in our UNICODE complaint SAP system:
<b>"<TKOMK_KEY>" cannot be a table, a reference, a string, or contain any of these objects.</b>
Does anyone know how I could get around this/suggest a solution?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Sorry if I'm being unclear.
    My requirements are twofold:
    1)the line of code:
    ASSIGN TKOMK2(LENGTH_KEY_TKOMK) TO <TKOMK_KEY>
does not assign anything to the fields symbol <TKOMK_KEY>
2)The read statement does not like the fields symbol <TKOMK_KEY> being used as a key.
Both these bits of code worked in our 4.6b system but now in the ECC5 environemtn I get syntax errors.
Let me know if you need anything else!

    Hi,
In unicode field names were not allowed with - symbol
    wa-20 is not allowed
    wa_20 is allowed
if you use wa-20 you will get syntax errors.

  • Code syntax error in header using a template?

Now running CS5 DW in a 32 bit Windows/Vista ultimate environment. The improved error messages have brought to light a problem that I apparently have had for a long time but didn't know it as CS4 simply flagged the line but no message.
Many of my site pages use a template http://a0540807.uscgaux.info/Templates/A0540807_Skeleton_2010.dwt
If I build or edit a page using this template in CS5, when in code view I see "There is a syntax error on line 57. Code hinting may not work until you fix this error.  Line 57 is within the header of the page and is simply </script>
But if I simply detach the template from the page, the error goes away and it says no syntax errors.
So I am confused, is there an issue with the code or is this a Dreamweaver issue dealing with template usage?
While the error appears cosmetic, I keep wondering what to do to eliminate. Apparently, I have had this situation a long time as Line 57 is also identified back in CS4 but no error message until CS5. Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks.
    Andy

I don't actually think there is any problem with your page...run one of your child pages through the W3C validator: http://validator.w3.org/ . I cast a page from your template and it came through with flying colors!

    Hi all,
I am able to INSERT and SELECT records from FoxPRo database successfully.
The driver is Sun JDBC-ODBC bridge

I've tried to execute PACK after the DELETE call and got following exception:

The ODBC DSN for MYTABLE is setup as:

I am not able to issue any of the following commands to FoxPro using java

In setting up the ODBC DSN I saw no "read only" setting.
In the Visual Foxpro table, I saw no READ ONLY settings. And also, there are no delete permission grants and there is no user database sesssion concept.
I've tried all of the above with DSN mapped to a database(NOT free tables) and setting AUTO-COMMIT OFF and AUTO-COMMIT ON.But in vain. The same exceptions as those stated above persisted.
