SYSADMIN - Assigning printer to a specific user only

We use a specific printer for the purpose of printing checks. However, several times it has happened that users select this printer for printing other reports resulting in Spoiled checks.
We want to restrict only specific user to print on this check printer. Is it possible to assign printer to specific user and restrict others from using it.

There is no supported way to do this via the apps. Notes on metalink suggest to change the name of the printer to something to flag the user like "CHECKS ONLY" then assign a printer style to the printer. This causes the user to have to specify the print style when submitting a request.
Note 145070.1 illustrates this.

I want to install itunes for a specific user only. Currently both users are administrators however i want the itunes/quicktime installation to reflect on 1 user only i.e. the one i intall it from. How can i do this? Is there a command line parameter that would allow me to install it for 'current user' only? Please advise.

Just change the installation path to somewhere in the other users account. The default is C:\Program Files\iTunes. You could change it to something like
C:\Users\accountname\iTunes. or something like that for vista. and
C:\Documents and Settings\accountname\iTunes. or something like that for XP.
accountname is the name of the account that you are trying to install itunes for.

Assign Task to a specific user based on the value of DDL from the form

Hello,
Can any one please advise me on how to assign a task to a specific user based on the value of the drop down list from the form. E.g. user fills the form and before they submit the form they have to select one of the name from the drop down list so the form can go to that person for approval.

I got it works now by using the xpath expression (in workbench) to assign to the selected user from the DDL in the form.

Outlook error when collapsing groups on TS - specific users only - cleanviews and new profile didn't help.

We have a Citrix environment for app publishing.
Office 2007 is installed, and the users use the published outlook 2007.
For some users only(not all users), when they arrange by "from" and in-groups they get an error when they try and collapse groups.
Error is "There are no items to show in this view".
It does not affect all users.
Troubleshooting attempted:
Recreated user's profile. - No change
Made user an administrator
-Logged in locally
-ran outlook in safe-mode -> no change.
-ran cleanviews -> no change
There were no policies applied at the time, and there are no user specific configurations.
I can't find any other articles which might be pertinent. How should I troubleshoot this?

One more thing you can try is to run Office Configuration Analyzer Tool to find if there is any error of the installation.

Disable upload for specific users only

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone else has found a need or solution to my problem.
I have a lot of users connecting to a FCS instance, many who should not be able to upload any content, just manipulate or otherwise interact with existing content. I've found that I can simply forbid access to all devices for a particular permission set, but that still allows users to "try" to upload, and is confusing. Further, it seems to hinder the duplicate functionality, which is desired in this use case.
Any thoughts? I'm running clean out of ideas here!

John explained through an email to use the "browser" group - which essentially sets a trait permission (upload = forbid) for a specific user/set of users. However, this does not seem to change anything, as far as being able to upload a file.
I can't use the actual browser group as I have many other requirements also, but setting this trait permission on my existing groups does absolutely nothing as far as I can tell. Has anyone else dealt with this issue directly?

How to use adapter to assign task to a specific user

hi all,
I'm currently trying to configure a task in an approval process so that it is assigned to a specific person according to the organization of the requester. I've written a little method which looks up the suitable username for the given organization name from a file (we might change this later, but this is ok for now) an returns it, created an adapter using this method, but it looks like as if I can't map the Adapter return value to the user field to which the assignment will go.
I'd love someone to help me out...

Dear Tarimela,
1. In transaction OBA7, you should fill up the field for all the
   document types which you want to control. If it is left blank, then
   all the users will be able to post document with that document type.
   Hence, if user A is authorised to post to document type X and in
   the configuration of document type Y field authorisation group is
   left blank, then user A will be able to post document with document
   type Y.
2. Also you need to enable authorisation check in transaction PFCG and
need to assign the authorisation group in the profile.
3. I would recommend you to go through SAP notes 198238 and 150496 for the
   purpose of your information.

Windows explorer stopped working in a VDI environtment for a specific user only

Hi we have a VDI environment with a link clone image for all users. Only one user(admin1) login to the virtual desktop got this error, ....windows explorer stop working and requires restart it. it is the same issue after restart it, change a PC, change another
VDI client version,always same issue. Tried other users with these pc and client and has no issue at all. All use the same pool,same snapshot and same image. Windows 7 32bit OS. also tried to delete the profile folder and let it recreate it , it's redirected
to a file server. the folder can be seen created,but empty inside. other user profile all ok. this user admin1 is a domain administrator. It's property in AD shows an extra "delegation" tab and all else look the same as other account. Since other
users ok, I believe it's not VDI issue, should be this windows user profile issue. any advice please?Thanks

Please first take a try to run SFC /Scannow command under the user account;
Further, we may take a try to fix the user profile through the steps mentioned in the below article:

For the error message about Windows Explorer has stopped working, here is a KB article talking about it:

Can I set parental control on firefox for a specific user only?

I'm using windows 7 and firefox 18.0.2. On my PC I have my Admin account and my kids account. Now as they're coming to an age they're needing Internet access for projects and so on, I wonder if I can set parental control on firefox (by add-on?) as I have on windows, so that whenthey log on their account, firefox will only allow access to what I have allowed. That is, limit internet usage ONLY on their account, while I'll still be able to use firefox unrestrictedly. I don't want to have them use another browser that I' m not as familiar with just so I can set parental control on everything on that browser. Any ideas?

Blue hue on monitor with specific user only

I was talking on Skype with my parents' PowerPC G5 while holding my 1-year old daughter. Everything was fine until she started hitting the keyboard. All of a sudden, everything on the screen turned a bluish hue. Everywhere I navigate on my mom's user account is this bluish hue, for example, on Safari, desktop, etc. When I switch to my father's account, the color is back to normal. I thought she might have loosened a cord or something, but everything's fine on my father's side. Does anyone know what my daughter might have done, and how I can fix it? Thanks.

Hi Pradeep.,
1. add a new 'IF' rule.
2. Edit it in the edit section (above the 'IF's part) to 'user' (in the dropdownlistbox) = <userid> (free text).
3. Press 'Apply'.
4. Edit the 'Then' section of the new IF to show the new portal desktop. You can add the full desktop's id by right clicking on it in the 'browse content' section if the screen (where you opened the Display Rule from) and choosing 'add portal desktop to expression'.
5. Press 'Apply'.
6. Move your 'IF' up. Display rules are evaluated from top to bottom until the first one that applies.

Restrict Duplicate print of receipt smartform for specific users

I have a custom driver program to print Customer Receipt and everything is working fine. But now I have a requirement saying I have to restrict the print option to specific user in case of print of Customer Receipt more than once.
I found a parameter TDAUTORITY in smartform control structure SSFCOMPOP but since there is no documentation for this structure, I have no idea what is this parameter for.
So, request you if you could guide through how to meet my requirement of restricting duplicate print for userids.

Since mine is a custom driver program that is not linked to any Output type in NACE, I can not use the NAST table variable. the NAST table is never updated since my program is a complete Z developement with selection screen to input the values.
So , I believe that I am left with the Authorisation object approach. I shall use the AUTHORITY-CHECK for the user and should proceed accordingly.

Depending on the requirement
May be you can open it for a specific Cons Group(assuming User has authorization for that group) which translates back to opening it for specific user only
If user needs to work on more than 1 cons groups & has authorization then a step by step approach will help

App Deployment to specific User?

I am having issues figure out how to deploy apps only to a specific user/device. I can see how I can provide the app and all devices see it but how do I assign the device to specific users?

Well it depends on how you want to manage the environment. It's sort
of like ZCM which can be done device-based or user-based. If all you
are worried about is device-based you don't have to define an LDAP user
source in ZCM either. However since most customers seem to manage

PO Restict to display specific user.

Dear Expert,
My requirment as below.
Recently we have implement the rental PO process. As per manaement suggestion, this type of PO can able to display specific user only.
The authrozation matrix in display role where doc type marked as "*" and like this 1500 roles is available.
now changing the 1500 role is not ideal way in this situation. So need to restrict the user without modifying exsting role object.
i want the solution like, even role authrozation is assigned but he shouln't able to view PO or any report related to that doc type.
Please suggest any programme, BADI or enhancement is Possible.

Changing 1500 roles may be work intensive but wouldn't it be better to use the standard SAP approach to restricting access instead of enhancements?
Of those 1500, how many are imparting/derived?
