Syscopy (during Unicode convertion): Import on same tablespace layout

Hi forum,
we're working on a Unicode convertion of our ECC landscape made of Solaris
10 Sparc and Oracle 10.2.0.4.
We use the procedure described in UC for SAPNetWeaver 7.0 SP 14 and
higher. Export runs well without error
or problem in our db (1,6 TB of used space).
During import SAPinst show me a different, then source system,
tablespaces layout:
PSAPSR3
PSAPSR3700
PSAPSR3FACT
PSAPSR3ODS
PSAPSR3USR
SYSAUX
PSAPUNDO
PSAPTEMP
SYSTEM
But my soursce system was:
PSAPBTABD
PSAPBTABI
PSAPCLUD
PSAPCLUI
PSAPDDICD
PSAPDDICI
PSAPDIMD
PSAPDIMI
PSAPDOCUD
PSAPDOCUI
PSAPEL700D
PSAPEL700I
PSAPES700D
PSAPES700I
PSAPFACTD
PSAPFACTI
PSAPLOADD
PSAPLOADI
PSAPODSD
PSAPODSI
PSAPPOOLD
PSAPPOOLI
PSAPPROTD
PSAPPROTI
PSAPSOURCED
PSAPSOURCEI
PSAPSTABD
PSAPSTABI
PSAPTEMP
PSAPUNDO
PSAPUSER1D
PSAPUSER1I
PSAPZ***********
PSAPZ***********
PSAPZ***********
SYSAUX
SYSTEM
We have already read 425079, so, can we use source system layout?
can SAPinst use our previous tablespace layout during import? ... or do
we must it manualy?
Regards.

Hi,
>It is far better that you create the target database using the new layout. The old tablespace layout with multiple tablespaces and >data/index separation is no longer adapted to modern environments, and a Unicode conversion gives you a unique opportunity to >switch to a more appropriate structure for your DB.
So... to do it: I leave standard tablespace (without create my old tablespace PSAPZ*******) and then enlarge enough to load our tables? ... do I modify any other file/script for the import?
Regards.

  • Unicode convertion source=target

    Hi,
    I'm tring a Unicode convertion on a send-box system just copied from production system. I'm in export phase now in our Solaris 10 SPARC + Oracle 10.2.04 box
    For the import I must use the same server, same <SID> name and system number... is it necessary to unistall previus ASCII istance and then re-install in Unicode? ... ora can I switch only the kernel from ASCII 2 Unicode? ... how?
    Regards.

  • Import of a tablespace using a tablespace different name

    Hi,
    i'm trying to import a transportable tablespace into the same database it was exported from, but using a different name; the import utility fails saying that it can't find the original tablespace.
    The parameters used during export and import are:
    exp 'sys/pwd@host as sysdba'
    transport_tablespace=yes
    tablespaces=test_tbs
    direct=yes
    triggers=no
    constraints=no
    buffer=100000
    file=test_tbs.dmp
    imp 'sys/pwd@host as sysdba'
    transport_tablespace=yes
    tablespaces=test_tbs
    file=test_tbs.dmp
    buffer=100000
    datafiles='test_tbs.dbf'
    Both tools are spawned as child processes of my application.
    Is there any way to import a tablespace with a new name or to rename the tablespace after import. Needless to say, that I can't predict the new name at export time.
    What I basically want to do, is to imitate the "Attach/Detach Database" feature of mssql.
    Thanks in advance
    Heiko

    You can't rename tablespace with transport_tablespace features. Read the piece of information extracted from the metalink note : 103013.1
    Transported tablespaces are plugged in in a read-only configuration, however the file header also stores the tablespace name, so any attempt to rename it would require an update to the file header. Similarly at unplug time there is a requirement that the tablespace is in read only mode and the same restrictions therefore apply - you can't 'RENAME' a tablespace, because you might only be taking a copy of the datafile.

    I have continuously over the last 6 months struggled with syncing my iphone and ipod with itunes  The app continually crashes during the picture import.  AND by the way it takes 10-15 minutes before it even attempts to import photos.  The screen says importing photoes but doesnt try to optimize or anything for 10 minutes.  I have a 3gs with 16Gb so its not a cheap phone.  I have 10Gb free.  I have 6600 photoes.  This is very frustrating and undermines my confidence in your products.  My ipod is an ipod 4 with 16Gb also.  It does the exact same thing to it.  The last time, I had to import photoes a few at the time and with it taking 10-15 minutes each time for 6600 photos it is a long frustrating process.  But it will import every photo a few at a time.  The error message is just that itunes has stopped working.  no hint as to why. AND of course, my phone is out of use for the entire time.  You guys must not want to believe ur phones are a necessary tool...or maybe you dont want the consumer to believe it is.  I have tried to find solutions on your website as well as through other 3rd party communities.  Ultimately they were of no use.  I stumbled onto my solution by accident since Im a bit of a computer geek...a semi-geek.

    I have this issue too, I went into my Windows event viewer. (should have looked at this a year ago when this started)
    it said this
    Faulting application name: iTunes.exe, version: 11.0.2.26, time stamp: 0x51253247

    basically whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4G 64GB it crashes iTunes when it begins the pictures. if im lucky ill get 4-5 on there before it stops responding. its not my system or anything im running win7x64 8GB DDR3 ram (Corsair XMS3) AMD FX Eight core processor.
    It is silly that iTunes cannot add pictures to apple devices. it shatters whatever incline I may have to buy apple products. knda like the Airport Extreem router my dad bought the new firmware, caused my router to not function... why release firmware that breaks a product. -_- <-- off topic but still

  • Error during unicode conversion

    Dear all,
    we are facing one issue during unicode conversion. the code is as follows:
    FIELD-SYMBOLS : <n> TYPE X,
                                 <c> TYPE C.
    DATA : a TYPE i.

    please guide on how this can be resolved in ECC.

  • Usage of Conversion Classes During Unicode Conversion

    Hi,
    I have code
    "TRANSLATE  BBKF-SGTXT FROM CODE PAGE '0100' TO '0120'"  Now During Unicode i need to Use the Conversion classes
    Can any one help to proceede further on this
    Actually I am using  CL_ABAP_CONV_OUT_CE and I am getting the Data in Binary Format But I want that to be in Character format can any one suggest me
    Thanks & Regards,

    Do you have an EBCDIC system with code page 0100? (check it using SNLS transaction)
    In that case, CL_ABAP_CONV_OUT_CE is okay.
    After having converted to code page 0120 (into xstring), here is how to cast xstring variable to character.
    DATA x TYPE x LENGTH 800. " so that to compile, x length
                              " must be a multiple of 4 (don't ask why)
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <c> TYPE c.
    x = xstring. "make sure x is long enough
    ASSIGN x TO <c> CASTING.
    BBKF-SGTXT = <c>.

  • Minimize downtime during UNICODE conversion

    Hello forum !
    I am looking at the UNICODE conversion of a large (?) SAP Oracle database for ECC. The Database it self is at about 10 TB. UNICODE converting this in one single run will take too long to fit inside the company defined tolerable downtime window.
    When looking at the data I find that the largest 50 tables makes up about 75% of the total database size. Most of the 50 largest tables have data for several years back, and I am able to partition the tables with one partition pr year.
    The good thing about this is that I am able to make the partitions with old data (more than one year old data) READ-ONLY.
    My assumption is that I will be able to UNICODE convert 60-70% and create the indexes for these partitions without taking down the database to be converted.
    Now,- doing the downtime-phase I will be able to exclude the old partitions of the largest tables in the export since I have already created a new UNICODE database with these objects and thereby drastically reducing the required downtime.
    Is there anyone who has any experience with an approach like the one I have schetched out here ?
    Kjell Erik Furnes

    Can you please be a bit more specific on your installation? How long is your possible downtime (export time should be about 2/3 of that)? How long is your actual export estimation? Do you have suitable hardware (CPU/disk)?
    What you absolutely need to have:
    [1043380 - Efficient Table Splitting for Oracle Databases|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1043380] -> export tables with ROWID splitting
    [855772 - Distribution Monitor|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/855772] -> enables distributed and parallel export/import
    So on the hardware side you will need, a storage subsystem as fast as possible with two copies of the disks (one for exporting and one for importing). A bunch of application servers with fast CPUs helps a lot, everything connected with at least gigabit ethernet.
    If you knew all this already, sorry for the spam. But i achived throughputs at about 400gb/hour on a medium sized hardware, i think throughputs of 1tb/hour should be possible (not talking about cluster tables

  • Export and re-import on same database

    For one reason or another we want to do a full export and re-import all the data back into the same tablespaces... is there a command to imp to tell it to truncate and over-write all the data before importing? or do I have to manually drop all the tables? (by manual I mean write a script to do it) -- and/or drop all the schemas

    Not sure, why you want to export and import back the same thing into the same database, but anyways to answer your question, yes it is possible with Oracle10g by using TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION={SKIP | APPEND | TRUNCATE | REPLACE}. With Oracle9i, you may have to generate a dynamic script to truncate tables....make sure you exclude SYS/SYSTEM tables from the truncate script.........did I say except SYS/SYSTEM and so on :-)

  • Export Import with different tablespaces

    Does anyone know if there is a way to export from one database (creating a dmp file) and then importing into another database with different tablespaces? I have tried this and get this error:
    ORA 959. It complained that the tablespace doesnt exist (which it doesnt). Is there a way I can change the export or import parameters to avoid this and just use the default tablespaces?
    I may well be missing the point here so please feel free to tell me I am being a fool.
    Thanks

    Example. All these tables are from the same schema with the same tablespace specified in the dmp file. There are many more and 90 % fail but not all.

  • Why does EO always try to import the same three files?

    Whenever I open Elements Organizer 12.1 it is attempting to import files. It always finds the same three files and then reports them already in the catalog. If I import files from my camera or card reader or folder, in addition to the files on the selected device it attempts to import the same three files that are already in the catalog. I have seen this message hundreds of times. How do I make it stop attempting to import these three files?
    I have tried deleting the three files from the catalog. The first time I opened EO it found the three files and imported them. The next time I opened EO it attempted to import the same three files and reported them already in the catalog. Arrgh...

    Yeah depends on the source but generally MPG hasn't ever been supported in Final Cut Pro- as Tom says you want to convert it to ProRes elsewhere before bringing into FCP X.

  • How to import tables, indexes, tablespace, etc from a DMP.

    Hello,
    I like to know how to import tables, indexes, tablespace, etc from an DMP export of a Oracle 10.2.0.1 to be apply on a Oracle 11.2.0. When I import the DMP file all the data is going to one single Tablespace, for example, Users tablespace.
    On the original database we have various tablespace's each separated with different content (tables, indexes) and I like to know if it posible to import the same schema,tables, indexes, tablespace all made with one single DMP Export. I can't use DBUA because the software of the database on the 10.2 is missing, I have only a DMP file (24GB) of DMP!.
    Thanks for the reply,
    Sorry for my english :).
    Regards.

    thanks for that but is not what Im looking for.
    Look, on my ORCL directory of the oracle 10.2 I have for example this:
    CONTROL01.CTL
    EXAMPLE01.DBF
    REDO01-1.LOG
    REDO01.LOG
    REDO02-2.LOG
    REDO02.LOG
    REDO03-3.LOG
    REDO03.LOG
    RMAN.DBF
    SYSAUX01.DBF
    SYSTEM01.DBF
    TEMP01.DBF
    UNDOTBS01.DBF
    USERS01.DBF
    TABLESPACE1.ORA
    TABLESPACE2.ORA
    TABLESPACE3.ORA
    TABLESPACE4.ORA
    TABLESPACE5.ORA
    I make a full export to a DMP. Then in my 11.2 version first I created the user then when import the DMP file none of the tablespace (TABLESPACE1, TABLESPACE2, ETC...) is created, all is going to the USERS tablespace, SO, im looking a way to tell imp command that generates the exactly tablespace structure that i was have on the 10.2.
    Hope this can explain more my problem.
    Thanks again!.

  • Jump cuts during a footage import

    I got some jump cuts during a footage import (firewire) from a JVC camera (1280X720 HD): during import I saw short black frames; then I saw that, corresponding those point,s I had the jump cuts. It's quite strange, also because, on the camera monitor itself all seemed fine.
    The camera owner today tried importing same footage on a pinnacle software on a windows pc and all was fine there...
    What could it be the problem here?
    P.S. A month ago I imported a footage (720X576, so simple DV) from the same camera and all was fine

    Also, you might try a different camera or a deck, which might be more forgiving.
    I'm in the midst of ingesting a lot of old mini DV tapes…sometimes finding for some tapes the deck won't read properly but a camera will…and for others, the exact opposite.

  • IPhoto 09 hangs up during analysing / converting iPhoto 2 Library

    Hi
    I recently bought a new MPB (OS X 10.6.1 / 3.06GHz / 8GB RAM).
    I restored / copied the user data from the old Mac Book (OS X 10.4.11 / PowerPC G4 1.33GHz / 1.5GB RAM) to the new MPB. Now I have got a problem with my photos which I manage on both systems with iPhoto.
    *On the MPB iPhoto "V 8.1 (415)" blocks / hangs up during analysing / converting the old iPhoto Library "iPhoto V2.0.1 (3E89)"*
    Old iPhoto Library: ca. 8000 Photos, ca. 23GB
    What did I do:
    - from my backup of the old system I moved / copied the folder "iPhoto Library" to the new MPB into the folder "Pictures"
    - I started iPhoto
    - I selected the "iPhoto Library" as the Medithek
    - iPhoto started to verify and to update / convert the Mediathek
    - shortly after iPhoto is blocked / hangs up
    I have absolutely no idea why this happens.
    Questions:
    How do I get my entire iPhoto 02 Library working with the new iPhoto?
    Did anybody have the same / a similar problem and how was it solved?
    Is there any way to copy manually the old Library into the new packetised iPhoto Library (if yes - what do I need to do)?
    Do I need to copy any other files (e.g. preferences) to the MBP so that iPhoto does the conversion of the old Library correctly?
    Any hints / solutions are very welcome.
    Looking foreward to get my photos back to work with the new MPB.
    Thanks guinevra

    This can be cause by a damaged file or a dodgy file permission somewhere in this Library.
    Download BatchMod from
    http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
    And apply it to the iPhoto Library Folder using the settings found here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/toad.hall/.Pictures/Forum/BatChmod.png
    (Credit to Old Toad for this one).
    and try again.
