Syslog level 6 on 65xx for sys and spantree

Hi
Cisco's Best practices doc for 4xxx, 5xxx and 6xxx series switches states to up the logging level of both sys and spantree to 6.
http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps663/products_tech_note09186a0080094713.shtml#sl
I am finding it hard to find what extra information you get with these non default logging levels.
I am particularly interested in sys
Cisco - "Cisco generally recommends bringing the spantree and system syslog facilities up to level 6, as these are key stability features to track. "
If anyone knows what extra features you get that could provide extra stability be that by proactive notification please let me know. Or for that matter what you could miss by leaving at default of 5.
Thanks
PG

Hi PG,
Logging level 6 is for informational messages and there are lot of messages which are logged at level 6 for spantree and system messages.
Like a port state in the VLAN changed to blocking which is diaplyes as a spanning tree 6 level message.
Have a look at this link for spantree level 6 messages
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/sw_7_3/msg_gd/emsg.htm#wp1016279
A message for sys level 6 can be for ip phone like a message indicating that an IP phone is reporting a problem with the inline power it is receiving on a port.
Have a look at this link for all sys level 6 messages
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/sw_7_3/msg_gd/emsg.htm#wp1016897
I think this will give a fare idea what all messages at level 6 for STP and SYS will let you fast analysing and can result in fast recovery of possible arising problems.
HTH, if yes please rate the post.

  • Oracle 11g upgrade: How to update stale statistics for sys and sysman?

    Hi,
I am in the process of testing Oracle 11g upgrade from Oracle 10.2.0.3. I have run utlu111i.sql on the 10g database.
The utility utlu111i.sql reports about the stale statistics for SYS and SYSMAN components.
    I executed dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats; dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYS'); and dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYSMAN');
After that the utlu111i.sql still reports the stale statistics for sys and sysman. Does anyone know how to get rid off this warning successfully?
    Thanks,
    Sreekanth

Does anyone know how to get rid off this warning successfully?Just ignore the warnings. Check The Utlu111i.Sql Pre-Upgrade Script Reports Stale Sys Statistics - 803774.1 from Metalink.

  • EEO Report - Level 1.1 for Executives and Senior Managers

    Hello -
We currently have multiple jobs that are classified as level 1.1 (Executives/Senior Managers) within our system but they all appear to be accumulating within the 1.2 (First/Mid-lvl Mgr) line on our EEO report.  We are using the SAP delivered form with out any customization in place.
Currently our EEO category and AAP Categories for Executives/Senior Managers is 01/01 respectively.  Does anyone have a suggestion on what we could change this category to in order for the standard report to correctly place the Executives within the 1.1 row on the report?  I had heard some people play with the idea of creating an EEO category of 11 and 12 for the 1.1 and 1.2 rows but I was not sure if the delivered report logic would process this change correctly.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Shouldn't 'Executive/Senior Manager' jobs have EEO category '00' instead of '01' in V_T5U13' as per note 976273 back in 2007 ?
    Rgds.

If you have administrator rights on the win server, you could make use of OS authentication for sys and a user, you create externally and give him dba role. These users could then connect to the database after being logged on on the win server with
    SQL> connect / as sysdba
    SQL> connect /Look at
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/network.112/e10574/authentication.htm#CHDBBFBF
to see how to create an externally identified DB user.

  • Forgot SYS and SYSTEM password

    Hi all,
I have forgotten the password for SYS and SYSTEM. Is there any way to reset their pwd?

It depends on what authentication you use
IF you have something like remote_login_passwordfile=NONE then it will be OS authentication in that case
    you can use
    cmd>sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
login to sqlplus change the password
If toy have something like remote_login_passwordfile=SHAREDor EXCLUSIVE then
    frm cmd>orapwd file=<name> password=<pwd> entries=5
    will do that for you
Correct me if i am wrong

  • GSS on 'SYS' and 'SYSTEM' schemas

    Hi Team,
We have both 11i(11.5.10.2) and R12(12.1.3) EBS applications. Can we run Gather schema stats on the 'SYS' and 'SYSTEM' schema and how frequent we can run on these schema ?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Yes it is mandatory to collect statistics for Sys and System schema for 10g + databases.
You cannot use FND_STATS package to gather statistcs but must use the dbms_stats package. Running this once in a month or twice a month, and you can schedule this via dbms_scheduler.
All your queries are answered in note:

  • Simulair report for FBL5N and FBL1N for new general ledger on segment level

We are working with segments in new G/L ledger. We want to run a open item report where we can combine customers and vendors by segment. The vendors and customers are linked in the master data. In the "old"  reports FBL5N and FBL1N you can do this but not by segment.I found the following report on segment level:
    - S_PCO_36000218 - Receivables: Segment
    - S_PCO_36000219 - Payables: Segment
What I'm missing is to run 1 report for Customers and vendors. What I'm missing to is that there are only some fields available on line item level. (I like to have invoice number, documentype,.......)
Is there a standard report for this in new genaral leger?
Is it possible to ad additional field to th list viewer.

What is this user license type?  All financial transactions need professional license.

  • Billing plan (Downpayment) for saved and open sales orders at header level?

    Hi gurus,
I have configured billing plan in my SD environment at Item Level.
I want to change it to header level.
    Questions:
1- When I make the changes to update the system to have billing plan at header level for future sales orders, is that possible for me to change all my saved orders and open orders with the new settings so that I can also have those saved and open orders with a billing plan at item level?
2- If that scenario is not possible, could we for example copy the data of a previously saved or open sales order into a new sales order with the new customizing (Billing plan at Header level?)
    Thanks for your input
    Kind regards
    Chris

    Hi
I am afraid you cannot do that converstion for the existing orders. BP at header level are enabled at teh document type level, while BP at item level is done at item category. So both are independent. Mostly it is advisabel to use BP at item level only.
If you are already using item level BP, and want to mvoe to header BP, then only future transactions can be executed with BP at header level. Existing item level BPlans will remain so in the system.

  • What is the safe music listening level for regular and in-ear headphones?

I am wondering what the safe music listening level for regular and in-ear headphones is. I heard it was 50% volume for regular headphones but what about the new 60$ in-ear ones? I am going to get them soon.

Just turn it up enough for you to enjoy the music. Even prolonged low volume sound can have long term negative effects on your hearing. It also depends on your listening environment. In a dead silent room you won't need very much volume. I have my cranked pretty high on when riding my motorcycle to work.  Just don't take your hearing for granted. Constant ringing in your ears will suck.

  • Billing block for invoices and credit notes on Sold-tou00B4s level

    Hi All
can we have billing block for invoices and credit notes on Sold-to´s level.
    please advice.
    Thanks
    Tushar

    Hi
The bellow way at document level.
One more way to maintian the billing block in the functionality of sales document types in VOV8
In VOV8 , Maintain proper value in billing block field.
So that , when you create the order or credit memo request system automatically pick the billing block.
Once remove the block of billling then only system allow to create the billing or credit memo.
    Thanks,
    KP

  • Standard Level of Effort for Universe design/development and Crystal Report

Can any one please advise the standard level of effort to design and develop (excluding detailed testing) a Crystal report of
    a) Low Complexity =  __hrs
    b) Medium Complexity = ___hrs
    c) High Complexity = _________hrs
Also the LoE for designing and builduing a universe(exluding detailed testing)
    a) Low Complexity = ___hrs
    b) Medium Complexity = ___hrs
    c) High Complexity = ____hrs
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi
It depends on the person experience and expertise on the tool also it depends on understanding of business logic behind the report generation. A person, who is having intermediate knowledge he can develop report with below time lines.
    a)     Low Complexity = 2hrs
    b) Medium Complexity = 4_hrs
    c) High Complexity = ____8_____hrs
Also the LoE for designing and builduing a universe(exluding detailed testing)
    a) Low Complexity = __2_hrs
    b) Medium Complexity = 5_hrs
    c) High Complexity = __10__hrs
The above are tentetive work hours, again it depends on the logic and complexity of the design.
    Thanks,
    Sastry

  • Is it possible to set a log level for ID and/or IDS when opening an IDML?

We're finding that it's taking an excessive amount of time (30-45 minutes) to open somewhat larger files (~100 pages) with many hyperlinks (~10,000). Is anyone aware of a way to add a command line parameter to either Indesign.exe or IndesignServer.exe (as we use both) to set, for example, a more detailed log level to allow for seeing what is taking so long to process when opening a file? The output would presumably go to the Event Viewer or stdout / stderr in a Command Prompt.

On a Mac you either use the Activity Monitor or the Instruments application (part of the Xcode IDE) for various performance analysis down to the system calls (dtrace) and their invocation stack frames. I assume Windows provides similar tools, or you might just reproduce your problem on a spare Mac with a trial or developer license.
Let me see - yup, the technology exists on Windows - Trace Provider
Btw, InDesign (Server and Desktop) has separate "debug" builds for plugin developers with plenty internal consistency checks "assert" and debug output. For speed reasons these are stripped out from release builds, it might be worth a try if you have access to those builds. Of course they will take even longer... The above mentioned analysis via the OS may also benefit from more symbols on such development versions.
InDesign Server (even release build) also has some performance metrics available via scripting (somewhere on the app object), have you tried these?
On the other hand it could also be something unrelated - do you have any extra software (plugin, startup scripts, scripted event handlers) that could interfere? E.g. a link event handler that waits for a timeout on every $.write without connected ESTK? On one client's InDesign server farm I reduced restart times down from minutes to barely noticable just by optimizations of the startup process, before I tracked down and eliminated the bugs (in the SOAP interface and in XPath) that caused all those crashes ;-) . Of course such problems are beyond the scope of a forum, they take several days to analyze and solve, especially if they require changes of the binaries from Adobe.

    Hi Rajesh,
1.I need to view the password the for account :
    sys, system, sapr3
Its not possible to view the password, password is always encrypted format stored, if the default has not been changed for SYS, SYSTEM then their password are CHANGE_ON_INSTALL and MANAGER respectively.
    2. I need to know for how long passwords have not been changed?
. and how can i change these passwords?
For knowing what date they were changed last,
    - connect /as sysdba;
    - SQL> select name,  ptime from user$;
ptime will give you the last password change date.
you can view at what date the password will be expired by
    - select username, account_status, expiry_date from dba_users;
change the password by brtools menu options or directly by chpass.

    Note -
Always recommended to use brtools for changing password rather than using the sql commands.

  • Level 00 object and level 01 object for character

    Hello Gurus,
for universe based on sap bi query,  what is level 00 object and level 01 object for character? and how to use them, will yo please give a simple example?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
To complete the previous answer, L00 is the level that contains "All" members for a given characteristic.
Whe nit is a hierarchy or a structure the L00 level contains members.
So to summarize L00 is not very useful to be used in a query when you are using a characteristic but you may have to use it when it is a hierarchy or a structure: it depends of the query selection of course.
