  • Hyperion S9 Shared Services Error

    Hi All,
I have been faced with some problem pertaining to Shared Services 9.3.1
The OpenLDAP services work perfectly fine, but the Shared Services throws an error " Some services stop automaticaly when there is no work to be done "
I have done the following till date:
    1) Reconfigure Shared Services
    2) Re-install Shared Services
    3) Create a new user and configure
    4) Restart system
    5) Recover Shared Services
However despite having tried the above measures, it has failed to respond, and continues to throw the same error.
Kindly help me resolve the same.
    Regards,
    Apo

    Hi,
    I accept with Sandeep,
but if u r trying to install for practice .. you can install in Windows XP Prof sp3.
I installed on my machine and its working....
I had the same problem in my server Windows 2003 SP4.
I renamed the folder C:\Hyperion to C:\Hyperion_old and tried to reinstall the Hyperion SS and ES, AAS once again... now its working... in your installation there may be some problems with the register entires....
1 whole week I fedup with this installation and I thought to rename the current Hyperion home and redo the process with new home....
I accept completely with Sandeep... but if u r installing in your local machine try once again... if u r getting the same problem them change the OS....

  • Unable to expand file system in shared services

we have been using LCM in our EPM 11.1.2 to migrate back and forth between our development and prod systems.
It worked fine until recently. Nothing has changed in our system. Suddenly, when we tried to migrate from one system to another(prod), the file system tab in shared services doesnt show anything.(The file system in development shows all the migrated files). We have been through this process successfully before-several times.
We have verified that the file system for that id has all the migrated files. We have even tried with some other ids. Still the file system doesnt show anything.
Has anybody seen this behavior before?
    Thanks,
    Sujani

    Hi ,
Have you looked in your LCM log:
SharedServices_LCM.log under the logs, Shared Services directory
Have you tried bouncing Shared Services? Maybe it's just hung up, or having heap size trouble.
Another thing you might try is moving some of your exported LCM folders out of the import_export directory on the server to see if possibly one of the previous exports is having trouble being enumerated.

  • Shared services security and essbase security

recently upgraded to sys 9 and now use shared services 931
we used to have security at essbase level previously and now its all Shared services..
now i have so many concerns
Can we automate the security just like I used to automate in essbase earlier...
or can we automate secuirty in essbase and them sync it to Shared services??
I know that we change security settings in SS and then sync it to essbase but is the other way around possible???
    IF yes HOW?
IF NOT - can we automate SS security which reflects to essbase...
I have to go through the prod doc and I'll do that very soon but any suggestion on this would really help me out..
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
can you please write more about which products and version are you using and on which operating system name and version.
Why do you use Shared Services? Are you using only Essbase server or any other server? If you use only Essbase server there is probably no need of using Shared Services.
If you need only Essbase you can see my info about installing Essbase without Shared Services: hyperion essbase installation
Please provide more info, so that we on forum can help you.

  • Shared services first time login

    Hi,
We have a new installation where we have installed and configured EPM 11.1.2 products on our server.
We have started all Hyperion services. When we go to the Shared Services url, I am unable to login using the credentials I created during the configuration.
Am I missing something? Just in case, is there a way to reset the initial password,or retain it from somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Sujani

By default most of them use the following :
    UserID: admin
    Passoword: password
try to remember what user name or ID & password u gave during the Configuration.
I think you should have the screenshots of the configuration. Check into that ....
    Good Luck ....!!!!!

  • Planning V11 Installation - Register with Shared Services: Failed

    Hi,
I have just installed the Hyperion Planning Version 11. The installation was a piece of cake. I selected all the relevant components and the installer took care of the installation and the installation sequence. When I tried the configuration, I went ahead with the configuration of foundation services first and decided to do the rest of the components later. When I completed the shared services configuration I started the configuration of the remaining components.
All of the various elements got configured correctly except for Registration with Shared Services. I have since then restarted the machine several times, made sure Shared Services is running (I can also login to interop from the browser - however provisioning features arent working), and I have essentially redone the whole configuration again and again.
    Can anyone please advise?
    Shehzad

    Hi,
Glad to hear you think the installation was a piece of cake!!
I think you may get this error when configuring a product selecting "perform first time configuration".
Are you using a single repository for all your products?
Could you maybe recreate new databases, including shared services and try again?

  • Shared services is asking for re-configuration.

    Dear Gurus,
I am using 9.0 version shared services, it was working fine since long back, recently domain server have been changed, for the updation i edited the IP and restarted the shared services, surprisingly the shared services is not allowing me to login and is asking for re-configuration as the database is not configured properly.
I am using native directory also, so there should no data(user info and provision) loss.
i am going to perform the below steps:-
    1) executing the Cssimportexport utility and take the back up.
    2) taking the back-up of shared services repository
    3) re-configuring the shared services with the existing repository.
    4) executing the cssimportexport utility to restore
    i have db-archive and db-recover utilities.
please let me know if iam going wrong.
    thanks in advance
    Giri Prasad

There is a document that I got from Oracle support called "System9-moving repository.doc" it goes thru the steps of rehosting. I it is more then just changing IP addresses. the document shows the configuration files that need to be modified and database entries.
You should request a copy from support.

  • Shared services error while installing hyperion system 9.0 using websphere

    hi
i installed license server and shared services.after that i open shared services logon window.
    i gave user as admin
    password as password
    error:user is not found
what is the user name to logon to sharedservices window

I don't have any documents from Microsoft or Adobe to offer but you may want to review the following couple of links:
    http://www.itechtalk.com/thread3595.html
    http://geekswithblogs.net/renso/archive/2009/10/21/how-to-set-the-windows-path-in-windows- 7.aspx
They both seem accurate to my knowledge.  If you can afford the space you may also want to try temporarily installing to the default location.  This would help further determine if the customized location is what is causing your difficulties.
One of our community members Mylenium has also wrote a useful blog on the topic of installing on a SSD.  You can find the relevant blog at http://myleniumerrors.com/installation-preparations/.

  • Unable to access Hyperion 11.1.2 Shared Services after install

    Hello All,
I am installing Hyperion 11.1.2 for the first time. I have poured over most if not all available documentation and I can't seem to get Shared Services up and running. I am trying to access it via http://HSSservername:28080/interop and http://HSSservername:19000/interop and I am not having success with either, I reach a 404 page not found page. And for workspace I receive an error message stating "“Initialization Error. The system is not available due to initialization errors” for workspace
Detailed error messages: Error initializing system registry."
I do a netstat -na and can see that the server is listening on 28080 and I can also letnet to this port and 19000 also. I have tried to start up through windows services console and through the Start>Oracle EPM..>Foundation>Start Foundation links. I have reviewed the foundation startup logs (foundationservicedssysout.log) located under C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\services and can see the following. Can anyone lend a hand please? Thank you very much in advance for any help and information that you are able to provide.

    Hello Dylan,
Ok, got this one figured out. There appeared to be two possible issues here and I am not sure which one fixed it. Ok, the first one was that there appeared to be communication issues between my HSS server and my DB server. I am setting up in a windows 2008 x64 bit environment and by default the windows firewalls were up and running. I had to create firewall rules between the servers to allow all communication to pass between the two different servers. The second thing that I noticed was that the FR Famework Agent service was not showing up on my application server. What I was doing wrong was re-configuring the FR/Framework database. In my scenario/environment, I had one FR web server and one FR application server. I was installing all of the web components on one server and all of the services on the other. So, I was installing the FR Framework services on one server and the FR Framework Web on the other server. The weird thing is that I would go and configure the FR Framework service server first and configure the DB, then when I went to configure the FR Framework Web server, it gave me the option to deploy the web server and also to configure the DB again (this would be the second time). My problem was that I went ahead and re-configured the DB again on the Web server. In version 11.1.1.3, when you only installed the FR web components on the server, it did not give you the option to configure the DB. If you are in a distributed environment, do not re-configure the DB on the Web server, ensure you "connect to existing DB" and connect to the BI repository (I learned this by trial and error as I did not find any documentation stating otherwise).

  • Hyperion Essbase on Solaris & Security issue in Shared services

I installed Hyperion system 9.3.1 in my dev environment. Every thing is working properlly.
But i still have questions on couple of things.
    1) I installed essbase on solaris 10. I was just trying to configure the sql interface for ESSBASE.
I went through the documentation. It says i supposed to get a file called libesssql.so.1
But i can't able to see this file in ARBORPATH/bin location. But still I could able to load the data
into sample Essbase application. My essbase is working fine. when i ran the script inst -sql.sh
it created a file called libesssql.so in the ARBORPATH/bin location. But no libesssql.so.1.
Can some one help me regarding this................
2)In the shared services when i clicked under Hyperion system 9 BI+, i cant able to see
any reporting related files to assign security. i am seeing a message saying refer to the security guide to confiure
    permissions for this application.
I logged into the shared services with admin privileges.
    Please help me in this...........
    Thanks,

    Hi,
What version are you using ?
Just to be clear are you saying that the utility only exported one native user and you expected it to export more ?
    Cheers

  • Can't start hyperion configuration utility (Shared services 9.3.1)

    Hi,
After the install of shared services the dialog box to do the configuration does not appear.
i tried to configure that by starting manually the configuration tool from start menu-hyperion-foundation services-configuration tool and i have a message that indicates i need to create a java_home system variable (jre or jdk not found JAVA_HOME is not set).
After creating this system variable JAVA_HOME with the right string pointing to java i started again the configuration tool but notuhing appear.
Note: I uninstalled hyperion and i removed all the keys pointing to hyperion from the registry og windows and i tried again but usually the same problem is found.
    I m using windows 2008 64 bits.
    Thanks.

  • Unable to register Hyperion Reporting and Analysis with Shared Services

    Hello everybody,
I'm trying to install and configure Foundation Services in order to schedule Brio Query documents execution and distribution.
IBM DB2 Express has been installed and configured.
Shared Services have been installed and configured.
Reporting and Analysis - System 9 Services have been installed and not yet configured.
Reporting and Analysis - System 9 UI Services have been installed and not yet configured.
When proceeding with Hyperion Reporting and Analysis configuration in registering with Shared Services, provided with the same host, port, user profile and password used for configuring Shared Services, I get the following message:
    "An unknown CSS error occured.
Please check that the information entered is correct."
    Messages from configtool.log file:
"(Aug 21, 2008, 09:32:32 AM), com.hyperion.cis.config.CmsRegistrationUtil, DEBUG, Getting CSS instance

I can't understand what's happening. May you help me?
    Thank you for every hints.
    Regards
    Lucia

The service runs until I try to confirm the registration while configuring HRA. Then it stops.
Apologies for the simple question, as I am trying to make the whole Hyperion System 9 running with little knowledge of it: how do I log to shared services?
    Thanks

  • Troble configuring Hyperion Shared Services with SQL Server 2005

I recently installed SQL server (SQL SERVER 2005) in my machine and then am trying to install Hyperion (9.3.1) products. I started with Shared services. It was installed successfully. Problem is occuring when am trying to configure Shared service with SQL database using Hyperion Configuration utility (9.3.1)
The error which is popping up is
Unable to connect to the database for the product Hyperion Shared Services.
Things which I tried from my end
    1. Made sure TCP IP Protocol was enabled in SQL server configuration server.
    2. hypuser was created in SQl server.
    3. hypdb was created in SQL server.
    4. Was having dynamic IP address so install Loopback adapter to obtain Static IP address and port.
    5. Port and IP address was correct.
Let me know where I am going wrong.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Finally got it fixed firewall settings needed to be change : This document helped me a lot to troubleshoot the issue
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)
This problem may occur when SQL Server 2005 is not configured to accept incoming local and remote connections, which is disabled by default in SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and also SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. To solve the connection forbidden problem, SQL Server 2005 needs to configure to allow incoming local and remote connections.
Firstly, ensure that SQL Server 2005 is configured properly to allow incoming connections on the instance of database server, else enable and turn on the local and remote connections setting.
Click Start button, then go to Programs or All Programs, then select Microsoft SQL Server 2005, followed by Configuration Tools. Click and run the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.
On the “SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration” page, click Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections.
On the “Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections” page, expand Database Engine tree, click Remote Connections.
Select Local and remote connections, or Local connections only which applicable only if there is no remote system tries to connect to the SQL Server, useful when you just trying to connect and authenticate with the server after installing.
Select the appropriate protocol to enable to local and/or remote connections environment. To ensure maximum compatibility, select Using both TCP/IP and named pipes.
    Click Apply button when done.
Click OK button when prompted with the message saying that “Changes to Connection Settings will not take effect until you restart the Database Engine service.”
On the “Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections” page, expand Database Engine, then click Service.
Click Stop button to stop the SQL Server service.
Wait until the MSSQLSERVER service stops, and then click Start button to restart the MSSQLSERVER service.
Secondly, SQL Server Browser service has to be enabled to allow for local and remote connections if SQL Server 2005 is running by using an instance name and users are not using a specific TCP/IP port number in the connection string.
On the “Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections” page, click SQL Server Browser.
Select Automatic as the Startup type to start SQL Server Browser service automatically every time system starts.
    Click Apply button.
Click on Start button to start the service immediately.
    Click OK button.
Finally, if remote computer needs to connect and access SQL Server, an exceptions in Windows Firewall included in Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2), Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista needs to be created. If you’re using third-party firewall system, the exception rules also needed to be created to allow external remote connections to the SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Browser Service to communicate through the firewall, else connections will be blocked. Consult the firewall manual for more details. Each instance of SQL Server 2005 must have its own exception, together with an exclusion for SQL Server Browser service.
SQL Server 2005 uses an instance ID as part of the path when you install its program files. To create an exception for each instance of SQL Server, you must identify the correct instance ID. To obtain an instance ID, follow these steps:
Click Start button, then go to Programs or All Programs, then select Microsoft SQL Server 2005, followed by Configuration Tools. Click and run the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
In “SQL Server Configuration Manager”, click the SQL Server Browser service in the right pane, right-click the instance name in the main window, and then click Properties.
On the “SQL Server Browser Properties” page, click the Advanced tab, locate the instance ID in the property list.
    Click OK button.
Then create an exception for SQL Server 2005 in Windows Firewall.
Click on Start button, the click on Run and type firewall.cpl, and then click OK. For Windows Vista, type firewall.cpl in Start Search box and press Enter key, then click on Allow a program through Windows Firewall link on left tasks pane.
In “Windows Firewall”, click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add Program.
In the “Add a Program” window, click Browse button.
Click the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe executable program, click Open button. MSSQL.1 with is a placeholder for the instance ID that is obtained from previous procedure. Note that the path may be different depending on where SQL Server 2005 is installed.
    Click OK button.
Repeat steps 1 through 5 for each instance of SQL Server 2005 that needs an exception.
For SQL Server Browser service, locate the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlbrowser.exe executable program, and click Open button.
    Click OK button.

  • Hyperion EPM: Will Oracle Express suffice for Shared Services and Registry?

    Hi.
I'm trying to install Hyperion EPM on Linux to make use of the Hyperion Interactive Reporting server components to allow report scheduling, web delivery of reports, etc. My data sources will all be MySQL. I'm at the point where I'm attempting to use the EPM Configurator for setting up Shared Services and Registry Database Connection. It seems my options for choosing a database on which to allow Shared Services and Registry data to reside are limited to 3: Oracle, SQL Server or DB2 (noticeably absent is MySQL)
So, it looks like I'm going to have to install an Oracle DB instance at the very least.
    My question is this:
Can I get away with just installing Oracle Express for the Shared Services and Registry or will I have to install a full blown Oracle DB instance?
    Thanks
    -- Tom

Hi, I confirm that you can use Oracle Express for Shared services and registry. We have installed the complete EPM platform on a single virtual machine using Oracle Express. It’s interesting to use it because Oracle Express use less resource. We can run this virtual machine on a computer that only have 4GB of RAM and get good performance (for a single user).
I recommend using it for proof-of-concept and Bootcamps.
