System 9.3 Essbase Analytics essbaseapp.instance file

We are upgrading to System 9.3. When we create Essbase apps using AAS , it creates a file called essbaseapp.instance along with other normal ones. when we delete the app using AAS everything except this file gets deleted. Looks like this file is in use by Essbase. Question- What is this instance file for? Anyone come across this problem? How to resolve this?

What i am trying to do is to install essbase client in Business Object which is in Windows server 2003.Business Object access data from remote essbase cube.
So i need to install drivers or client in my windows server so that we will be able to connect to essbase cube.
In our BO guide it's mention that you need either Excel Add in or Runtime client to be installed in your Server.
I tried in my client machine it works but when i install the runtime client on server i try to connect to essbase cube it doesn't shows Essbase in Provider just like in case of Analysis Server it shows Microsoft OLEDB Provider for OLAP services 8.0,9.0 it does,nt show essbase.So there is somethingt wrong regarding installation.
Is there any issuus like we can't install essbase client on windows server 2003 and we have to install essbase server?How to resolve the issue?

Has Anyone Been Able to Stand Up Essbase Analytics Link (EAL) for Financial Management in version 11.1.2.2?

Has anyone had any luck standing up the Essbase Analytics Link (EAL) for Financial Management Application in 11.1.2.2? We are to the point where when we click on the “Create Bridge Application” it creates an application and database in EAS and then crashes the Hyperion Essbase Analytics Link Server - Web Application . Prior to this we were getting a NetRetry and NetDelay error and have increased those settings are are not receiving those same errors. I’m curious if 11.1.2.2 is even a functioning version of EAL or if we are out of luck until the next version. Any feedback is appreciated.

FYI, we were able to get EAL up and running after adding the following entries into the registry on our servers...
Solution
This timeout issue can be fixed by adding two tcpip registry parameters, but first you must identify which client was communicating with essbase when the timeout occurred so that you know which machine to add the parameters to. If all the EAL and EPM components are installed on a single machine, then that machine would also host the client. If products are installed in a distributed environment you determine the client machine based on how the EAL Essbase Server component is defined.
The APS URL is part of the Analytics Link, Essbase Server definition in EAL.
If the value (APS URL) is "Embedded" this means that the EAL Application Server is communicating via the JAPI directly with the Essbase Server. In this case the EAL AppServer is the client to the Essbase Server. For this case the following tcpip registry parameters need to go on the machine where the EAL Application Server is running.
If the (APS URL) value is http://serverName:13080/aps/JAPI then the EAL Application Server is communicating by way of Hyperion Provider Services (APS). In this case EAL proxies requests to and from the Essbase Server through APS. This means that APS is the client to the Essbase Server and the tcpip registry parameters need to go on the machine where Hyperion Provider Services are running.
Once you have identified which machine is acting as the client to essbase, set the TcpTimedWaitDelay=30 and MaxUserPort=65534 parameters via the windows registry.
1. Open the Windows Registry.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters.
3. Add new DWORD Value named "TcpTimedWaitDelay"
- right click and select Modify
- Select "decimal" radio button, type in 30.
4. Add new DWORD Value named MaxUserPort
- right click and select Modify
- Select "decimal" radio button, type in 65534
5. A reboot of the server is necessary.

System 11 Instalation Essbase and Planning crash ????

I have install on a Windows Server 2003 SP2 64 bit, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management .... (Essbase and Planning).
Well, I have all install with my green flags, I sucessfully configurated without any problem with a Oracle 11g 64 bit database (3 schemas for SS,EPMA and Planning).
I can access through my EAS to Essbase Server and the cubes, also I can connect with Smart View to the cubes in Essbase.
Here comes the surprise !!!!!! when I log into workspace I cannot see any option of Planning, also I cannot see any option in Shared Services of Planning allthough I have (a priori) all install without problems (not the reallity.... ).
I´m getting crazy, due to I can create a datasource and an application through the "back door" http://hostname:8300/HyperionPlanning/ApplicationWizard.jsp ....
Do someone have this error or miscelanous problem?

I have created the app test through the AppWizard, and allocate it into one project ( I don´t see in the HSS any Planning item).
That´s right, when I made the installation I create a plannig cluster, now I have deleted it and I only have the default one, but I still have no visibility to Planning thorugh the workspace
I´m installing hyperion system 11.1.1.3, downloaded the files in the url : http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/bi/performance-management/index.html
I suppose those files are ok.

If you get that error message then it is more than likely you have not created an application.
Go to http://<planningserver>:8300/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jsp and create an application.
Another thing you need to watch out for is planning clusters, sometimes people create a planning cluster through the configurator and it is not required, so you have a default cluster and an newly created cluster, make sure in the configurator you dont have extra clusters, you only need the default one.

Location of Essbase Analytics Link (EAL) Repository Parameters?

In Essbase Analytics Link (EAL), where are the EAL repository parameters stored? I believe I saw a param or .ini file but I can't seem to locate it within the application directory. I am trying to locate this because I have reconfigured EAL to use a different database for its repository but it is still pointing to the original database despite what the config tool indicates.

You may need to update the JDBC information stored in WebLogic if the web application was not redeployed, you can either edit the datasource through the weblogic admin console or go to <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\config\jdbc\EAL_Repository-xxxx-jdbc.xml

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

Since Re-activation as suggested by the link above is not working for you, Can you please confirm the following:
The OperatorURL is reachable. ( you can find the operatorURL from the acsm file by opening it in notepad,etc)
And Book is still available on the book-store for purchase.
(If any of first two are not available, you might have to talk to distributor for next action item to get the book. Since you will have record of purchasing the book, (in my opinion) they should provide you the new token for downloading the book)
And please confirm this that you used the same userID for downloading that you used when you first fulfilled/downloaded the book.
(If it is the case, then you have to use the correct userID)

The files we're shot with HD cameras. Edited in Premiere Pro CS3. I installed the update 3.0.1 with still the same error.
I also tried a brand new project and after about ten or so files being imported into a timeline, the system crash. I tried this twice....

       Here is the skinny. A window base PC. footage shot with HD sony HD cameras, Project imported to Premiere CS3. Once completed sent file to Adobe media encoder and render them as H.264 widescreen high Quality. Imported them to Adobe Encore CS3. After about ten files or so. I got the error message. Did all the basic trouble shoot like restarting the computer, got latest patch. Even build a new test project with the same problem.
    Something else I read in the forums, is the encore will transcoded the project to Mpeg 2 anyway, after looking at my project I realized those few files were indeed untranscoded. So it will be a double compression and I dont want that. So, my new question is, what is H.264 good for ?????????? I was research that Mpeg 2 is a faster render but H.264 is a slower render but better quality.....
   what do you think ????

and activate all ODS Objects before the upgrade and run the program RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE.
also that with Stack 14 an extended version of this program is available together with the
Program RSUPGRCHECK. If errors occurs, consult also SAP Note 518426 and run transaction
RSSGPCLA for the regeneration of the RSDRO_* Objects.
Recheck whether you have Exported with correct parameters or not -- Try to Re Export the Same with all necessary objects .
Try Note 524554 and 325525 also

What version of EAL have you installed, what OS + 32bit/64bit are you installing it on.
What version of the OUI did you use.

Chang system userid/password for another server instance

It it possible to change the system userid/password for another server
instance. If so , how ?
I would like to allow certain groups to be able to start and stop ONLY their
server without giving out the system account.

the relationship between the infrastructure nodes and the application server nodes is a one to many relationship. The infrastructure home should be the only home that the EMWebsite service has been started for.
the user to log in to em console is ias_admin/<password> if it does not accept the password that you set for this user then try it with caps lock on as you may have had it one when setting the password.
As 9ias release 2 has been designed with a multiple machine install in mind, if you install more than one instance (multiple oracle homes) on the server then you will end up with multiple apache processes and oc4j processes. This means you will be able to connect to 2 apache server homepages under different ports. That is why you get the same page.

DIM: how to load metadata to Essbase without using rule files

The Essbase adapter has been installed in the informatica PowerCenter (v8.1.1). We want to create a Essbase target definition to load metadata. In the Table Creation Wizard, we select Table Type: Dynamic dimension building (Type 3), but it needs to specify Rules file in the Column Creation Wizard.
Any method to load metadata into Essbase without using Rules file?

You should know a few things before before getting started:
1. Registry "cleaners" and "system optimizers" like SystemSuite are very unreliable, cause more problems then they propose to fix, have little to no benefit, and are somewhat of a scam. Running them on a system is almost guaranteeing a crash or hiccups somewhere along the process. running them is never a good idea. all you need is a good, simple, free anti-virus (like Microsoft Security Essentials), and use the built in Windows Utilities to clean and sped up your computer if needed.
2. This is a Firefox forum, so if you are having a problem with SystemSuite, we might not be able to help you.
I'll give you a few things you can do to see if this is just a Windows problem:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Plus, I'd strongly recommend removing systemsuite and any other "optimizers" you might have.
