System acting wonky - unable to deauthenticate

Happy Holidays!
I've been having some "weird" issues for the past couple of days. It started off with not being able to repair permissions on the machine unless I booted from the startup disk.
Now, I've noticed that I'm unable to run Cocktail (3rd party maintenance tool). Each time it asks me to authenticate, it says invalid username/password. I've also tried clicking on the padlock in any of the "System Preference" panes, and notice that it never de-authenticates. I see a quick flash of "deauthenticating...", but the padlock never changes state (unlocked to locked).
I've checked the console logs, and nothing about de-authenticating seems to appear. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the problem and would appreciate any help anyone has to offer. I'm running Leopard (10.5.1) on a PowerBook.

One suggestion has been that using Tiger's "Disk Utility" to repair permissions on a hard drive with Leopard installed via the "upgrade" option will likely result in the problem.

I should clarify that your symptoms seem to fit what has been described, but there isn't enough information to say for sure. Try verifying permissions under Leopard, and see if any messages do appear for files not on the list. If any do, there should be two messages - one stating that the permissions differ (what they are and what they should be), and a second one saying that because it is "SUID", that it won't be repaired. The first message should provide the information required. This will require use of the command line, and the specific command will depend on the message.
Regarding the "Archive and Install", I've never had to do one either so can't tell you first hand. Presumably a few GB would be required for the archived system and applications, but once you have determined that things are running smoothly, I would imagine you can get rid of the archive. BI System acting as Source system ? why ?

Why cant a BI system act as a source to another BI system.
Let us take an example of some systems( SCM, SRM, CRM, RPM ). These systems support BI as well.
Let us say we have to integrate data from any two of these systems. Instead of taking RAW data from one the systems ( through datasource ), it is always better to take polished data ( from a DSO or a cube / datamart in general ). For this reason a BW system will act as a source.
Also taking an example of our own BW system. Say we are developing or enhancing something in development and we need data from Quality, for this to be feasible the quality system shud act as a source.

System acts as if I am pressing my Mighty Mouse side buttons.

I have recently begun to experience issues where my system acts as if I am squeezing the side buttons. Sometimes it is find for hours, others it is constantly going back and forth acting like it is being pressed and released constantly.
I tried a regular mouse from my wifes PC and it worked fine. Do I need to reload the OS or is there a repair option that will not delete the 150GB of data I have on my system. Or os there another solution.

For the last 2½ years I've had to leave the blasted touchy side buttons turned off!
There's just something about the way I grip the mouse, no matter what system I use, mine, my (friends & neighbors), even the new models on display at BestBuy and the Apple Store.
Go to: *Apple / System Preferences / Keyboard & Mouse / Mouse* and turn the Side Buttons off.

Photoshop acting wonky after installing windows 8

Photoshop is acting wonky now that i've installed windows 8. i had to upgrade my video drivers, amd radeon 5700 series. now when editing photos, the background goes black or transparent. anyone know a suggestions.

That is a known problem with the video drivers in Windows 8. We're still waiting for all the necessary fixes to ship.

Check it out your Sender agreement, which business system you ahve used as a Sender and make sure that in receiver agreement the source system should be the same as in Sender Agreement.

You can use XI system as a Sender and Receiver.However as per u r scenario Source is JDBC and Receiver is XI.
Once check it out your Configuration Sceanrio.

HP System Recovery DVD Unable to Complete Recovery

I am having trouble using the System Recovery DVDs on my HP Pavilion dm4-1065dx. My computer got a virus and I uninstalled Windows 7 and reinstalled it using a new copy I bought. Currently my computer can run Windows 7 but it does not have any programs or other software installed on it. I am trying to restore my computer to factory settings using the System Recovery DVDs from HP. The DVD works until it gets to the step where it must restore files to the hard drive. About 10% into this step a message pops up that says:
"Contact HP Support
In most cases, recovering the hard drive will fix your problems.
If your problems continue, you may need to contact HP Support. Find HP Support contact information in your PC documentation."
I have tried running the System Recovery DVDs several times and always get this message. So far I have been unable to recover my hard drive and try this process again.

10.5.2 System Locked Up unable to Boot

Six months ago we purchased our first Mac (17"). We have purchased three others since, completely migrating our church office away from pc's, We are still learning the ropes of the Mac World and it is definitely different!
Our Mac 17" has been locked and unable to boot all week due to the update.
We have been reading through all of the topics and trying everything suggested multiple times each and in several combinations.
We've come from the initial set up loop, through the kernel panic, to the present gray screen spinning gear safe boot situation static for hours and hours.
We've learned many things this week and if this were a pc it would have been opened and resolved by now, but it's not!!!
If anyone has something new to suggest, we would certainly love to hear it. Maybe the Apple engineers will come up with something soon and one of you will post it.
Our sincere thanks to any and all who take the time to reply to this - we certainly appreciate and look forward to your input.

Hi,
This error must be generated from any of the ".aspx" page.
As,error clearly mentions
control "txtDob" not found. It means you definitely dont have this control present on your page, Or you renamed it to some other Name.
To resolve this error,
1) Search for text box (i think in your case Date of birth) take name of that textbox
2) Assign same textbox name in "RequiredFieldValidator5" Property "ControlToValidate"

I purchased my macbook pro, 13" in August 2011. For the past week I haven't been able to open system preferences without it freezing/crashing. I did some research online and found two possible solutions: 1. verify and repair disks, which I did, and it did show that there were errors, but this did not solve my specific problem as stated above; and 2. go to library/preferences/ and remove the apple.com... and similar file, which I also did without success.
I am now lost at what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Windows 8.1 System Image Backup - Unable to backup to network share due to unsupported "version of the file format"

I have a Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit system that I am trying to make a system image backup via Windows 8.1's System Image Backup feature.
The backup destination is a network share, but the image creation is failing with the following error:
The version does not support this version of the file format
After some investigation, it appears this is due to the network share (a Netgear BlackArmor NAS 220)not
supporting sparse files. The consensus out on the web seems to be that your smb.conf file on the NAS needs to have strict allocate = yes added, in order to support sparse files. However, as far as I can tell with the BlackArmor NAS
220, there is no way to edit the smb.conf file (and I'm not even 100% positive they're running Samba--but I bet they are).
Some more searching revealed another possible option here:
If you don't need to exclude files from your backup, use the "-allcritical" option in your command line. AS IN:
wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:\backup1\backupdrive1\ -include:c: -user:administrator -password:xxxx -systemState -vssFull -allcritical -quiet
This changes it to Block backup and gets rid of the error.
I'm trying to do a complete backup, so no exclusions are wanted or needed. So, i tried this, and got the exact same error (only this time it was on the command line, rather than a GUI dialog).
Is there any way to do backups to a network share that doesn't support sparse files via Windows 8.1's System Image Backup facility?
Alternatively, is there a way to enable the strict allocate = yes on a BlackArmor NAS 220?

When using BackupAssist to perform a backup from a Windows file system to a Linux (ext4 or XFS) file
system, the backup can fail if the following conditions apply.
The backup is running a system protection job to the Linux based NAS.
The Linux NAS has sparse file allocation turned on.
These two contition can cause the problem like yours.

InDesign CS6 text frames acting wonky

I started a brand new document. Some text has been copy/pasted from CS4 documents or Word but all of it is acting weird. If the text frame is less than 7.4375 in wide, then it breaks and reflows at odd points and I can't seem to get the frame to end where I want it to.
I don't know where to look to fix whatever setting is doing this.
Above: Text frame at margin width less than size noted above. but when the frame is extended to the margin height, it breaks the text and doesn't keep it where I want.
Below: Text frame at 7.4375 in wide. It will break at different places and show all that's supposed to be in the frame

First, show non-printing characters so you can look for non-breaking spaces. Next check for a long string of text to which No Break has been applied (if you make the frame narrow and the text goes into overset, it's easiest to find these problems by looking at the first bit of text past the overset indicator in the Story Editor). The next possibility, which would be reinforced by large changes in where the text goes into overset whenyou adjust the frame heith only slightly, is that there are keep options applied that prevent ID from fitting all of the required text into the remaining space in the frame.

SYSTEM ERROR, IDOC_ADAPTER, Unable to convert ALE to logical system

When you see successful in the Adapter Engine, what it impliesis that the Adapter Engine has picked up the message ( file in your case ) and then passed it to the Integration Engine for processing ( this is where the actual pipeliining steps take place). As far the adapter Engine is concerned the message has been passed to the integration engine and so its job is done.
The error you see in Integration Server is becuase it includes the status of the messge in both the adapter Engine and the Integration Engine. You messages has errored out in the Integration Engine and so the problem!
Just rememebr this terminology --> Integration Server is the runtime of XI which in turn contains the Adapter Engine and the Integration Engine.!!

Why are windows and desktop on iMac acting wonky?

t's raining out and that may or may not have something to do with the fact that for the first time (after 20 years of owning a Mac), the Document window and Mail window (both which were open at the same time) were doing a jig, moving too the right a little ways, then back again. It made it impossible to delete or move emails. The windows did this completely on their own. This is quite disconcerting.
And, on the same subject, perhaps, for the last few weeks, at times my mouse (corded) is acting as if I'm clicking on the left-hand side so all open windows become small and I have to click on a window to continue working on my document. It does this on its own without me necessarily using the mouse.
And last, but not least, earlier this morning I went to turn off the computer and was about to click on the dialogue box that asks if I want to turn off the computer now or wait 58 seconds, when the desktop turned black, then back to normal, then black and it didn't allow me to click on the blue box. This black and normal switch went on for a minute or two, then the computer turned itself off.

I can't open them without buying software when the same emails on my iPhone have the attachment as a PDF and open? Thanks
