System Administrator Read-Only responsibility.

Dear All
Is there a way that i can assign a Read-Only responsibilities of system administrator.
Thanks,

Yes. It is possible to create a new responsibility 'System Administrator - View Only', which will have all the functions in Query only mode. To achieve this, Create a new customTop menu, consisting of sub-menus and functions. The functions should have the 'Parameters' field as 'QUERY_ONLY = "YES"'. Attach this top menu to the 'System Administrator - View Only' custom responsibility. This responsibility can then be assigned to the users, who will then only be able to query the records, not do any update.

  • Read only responsibility

    Hi
I would like to create Read Only responsibility for administration purpose. As i have seen in this forum that, there are some read only resposibilities for AR, HR, AP etc. Like wise responsibility for administration purpose. I do not want to create new with new menu etc.
    Regards

You can set "HR: Query Only" Profile option to Yes at responsibility level for HRMS.
Another way is you can create a responsibility with a data group that is attached to a read only database user. You might find the folliowing link helpful in creating the readonly apps database user and responsiility

  • Form personalization for a read only responsibility for a custom form

    Hi,
I have a read only responsibility. My requirement is to make a custom form updatable through this responsibility but wth a condition that only the specific custom form should be updatable and rest all other form accessed through read only responsibility be read only. How can i achieve this using form personalization?
Pls give me detailed steps if possible.
    Thanks

I tried override Query Only values through Forms Personalization but it did not work for me. With a bit of determination I might have been able to work around it but no luck on that front.
You can do it this way, although it's a bit cumbersome:
    1. Clone every function and menu in the Responsibility
    2. In all but your custom function set the Function parameter QUERY_ONLY=YES

  • System goes read only, after reboot all is fine for a day or two

OK, so here's the problem, I got a new PC, all fanless, SSD hard and all.
Works well for a day or so, then goes read only. For example - I come back from work, type something in the terminal and I get Input/Output Error. I cannot reboot, it says Input/Output Error as well.
So I hard-reset it, it boots up, everything is fine again for a day or two.
The HDD is Corsair CSSD-F40GB2, the MB is Gigabyte H55N-USB3, proc i3 540,
The / and /home are both ext4 mounted with defaults, noatime, discard.
    I tried with/without discard.
I also tried changing the SATA/power cables - same results.
I also tried enabling/disabling features in BIOS like DMA/SMART/AHCI/compatibility stuff - same results.
Here's a dmesg I managed to get (errors are near the end).
    http://pastebin.com/vJfdW90z
    And here's a smartctl -a /dev/sda:
    http://pastebin.com/eQxASEBM
Any suggestions are welcome. Also is there some diagnostic app for Corsair SSD that I can run and check the drive?
    Cheers.

Well I don't recall how freshly booted, it was the only time that the system was read-only - giving input/output error to everything but dmesg was working so I saved it all to pastebin.
The system is a PC so I never tried anything else different from poweroff/reboot (works fine).

set sharing on system to read only now computer wlll not boot up

    Hello skiboat2,
Because the permissions have been changed, you will need to put them back to what they were before. One of the ways to do that is to reinstall your OS X to make sure that everything permission wise gets put back to what it needs to be to work properly. Based of to the operating system that you say you have, I have provided the steps for reinstalling Snow Leopard. When doing this, it does not overwrite your personal data; it only touches the operating system.

  • Workflow Admin read only responsibility in EBS 11.5.10.2

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to create a read only workflow administrator. For that I have done the below steps.
    1. Created one permission set with Monitor Data.
    2. Created one role and one grant for that role with the above selected permission set.
    3. Then I have assigned the responsibility Workflow Administrator Web (New) to a user.
    4. Assigned the above created role to to that user.
Then I tried to access the WF pages from that user, but still he is able to do all the activities that is possible by the Workflow Administrator Web Applications responsibility.
When I navigated to Workflow Administrator Web Applications-->Administration, Workflow System Administrator LOV is having value '*'. I changed that to 'Workflow Administrator Web Applications', and tried to access Workflow Administrator Web (New) from the above user.
Now no buttons are enabled for him. But in the Status Monitor, the user will be able to view only the Workflows owned by him.
But my requirement is to view all users workflow.
Can anyone guide me on how to achieve that.?
Also, I found that there is no significance for assigning Monitor Data permission. Please suggest me on that aspect also.
    Hoping for youe valuable comments.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Charls K V

    Hi Charls,
The note is also telling the same thing.:(
Then is there anyway to achieve my requirement.
Should be able to query everything as the admin does. But won't be able to perform any actions.
Looking forward for your valuable comments.I did manage to create the same using (How to Restrict Access to Data in the Workflow Monitor based on Item Types? [ID 559072.1]) but for specific item type (omit this step if you want to have access to all item types).
If you could share the steps you followed (in details) to implement the above, it would be helpful.
Please also review (How to enable Workflow Owned By LOV in Workflow Status Monitor for a User other than SYSADMIN [ID 1328447.1]) and see if it helps.
    Thanks,

  • Visual Administrator Read Only Access

    Hi All,
I need to give Visual Admin read only access to a developer.
       1. Is it possible ?
       2. If so what is the role to be given and where to configure this role ?
    Please help
    Thanks
    Sourav

    Hi sourav,
If you want to give read access to the developers with regards to configurations details of the system or application modules and resources then this would be best accomplished through the use of NWA(Netweaver Administrator). Here you should be able to create a user and give them read only access.
You can access it via http://hostname:5<system number>00/nwa of you Web AS Java.
You can use the SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL_READONLY role or the central read-only role depending on your needs and configuration.

  • Role for User Administrator(Read only)

    Hi All,
I want to create a role just like the role ofUser Administrator. But I want to make it read only.I want that the end user can perform search operation, can see the locked user, can see the roles but can't delete the user.Basically ,they shouldn't able to do the modification.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Paritosh

I have only managed to do this by creating a role and assigning the relevant User Admin iViews to the role and then changing the End User Permissions on the role.
I assigned the ReadAll Premission. That did the trick for me.
Groups unfortunately require the manage_groups Permission, so we do not allow the viewing of groups.

    Hi WonderWoofy,
I did a very dump thing. I deleted my /dev/sda1 ntfs partition, moved /dev/sda2 containing my lvm volumes to the left, resized /dev/sda2 and allocated the free space to my /home logical volume group. Lots of files ended up to be corrupt, I reinstalled all packages and ran fsck several times. Now at least it is starting again. I just found out that the entire root partition is mounted as read-only. In the following is the entire journal excerpt:

  • [Solved] Canot format MicroSD. File system is read-only

I formatted it for my special needs some time ago using fdisk.
Don't remember the partition table, but there was 1 fat32 and 1 ext4 partition.
Now I want to format it fat32 clean, but I get the errors.
When I open GParted, it says
GParted wrote:/dev/sdb contains GPT signatures, indicating that it has a GPT table.  However, it does not have a valid fake msdos partition table, as it should.  Perhaps it was corrupted -- possibly by a program that doesn't understand GPT partition tables.  Or perhaps you deleted the GPT table, and are now using an msdos partition table.  Is this a GPT partition table?
If I click yes - it shows partitions, but creating new partition table fails, as it is read-only.
If I click no - it does not show up in the device list.
Here's a picture of the structure of the device.
What also strange, I remember making 1 GiB ext4, and rest fat32. But it shows the opposite.
So I tried formatting it with fdisk
    $ fdisk /dev/sdb
    o
    n
    w
fdisk: cannot write disk label: Bad file descriptor
I made sure they are unmounted
    umount: /dev/sdb1: not mounted
    umount: /dev/sdb2: not mounted
Then I checked the filesystems. The second one appears to be read-only
    # fsck /dev/sdb1
    fsck from util-linux 2.23.2
    fsck.fat 3.0.22 (2013-07-19)
    /dev/sdb1: 18 files, 96978/698280 clusters
    # fsck /dev/sdb2
    fsck from util-linux 2.23.2
    e2fsck 1.42.8 (20-Jun-2013)
fsck.ext4: Read-only file system while trying to open /dev/sdb2
Disk write-protected; use the -n option to do a read-only
    check of the device.
    # fsck -n /dev/sdb2
    fsck from util-linux 2.23.2
    e2fsck 1.42.8 (20-Jun-2013)
    /dev/sdb2: clean, 860/65664 files, 56633/262144 blocks
Tried the zero trick, but failed as well.

    Finally I found the solution
MicroSD adapter has a "lock" feature.
When I inserted the adapter, the lock always triggered to locked state.
So I fixed it in unlocked state using the ducktape.

  • Auto-remount of root file system, like read only

Hello, I'm a newbie compiling kernels, but wanna learn. (I came here bacause i don't know how to solve this or where to find an answer).  I compiled some few... but, in the last days i'm suffering an strange auto-remount of the root fs "/", (remounts like read only) it's temporally fixed using fsck and rebooting. But a time later of reboot, i'm working, and suddenly the same error comes again. it's really disturbing, because force to reboot often.
I think that is not a physical error. I did not have problems with badblocks. Something creates logical errors, either the auto-remount did
Surely I have something bad on the kernel, and probably  have more things there than i must.
On the other hand my /var/log/lastlog is always full of an strange ASCII and i can't see the boot info.
    this is my fstab:
    /dev/sda6 / ext4 noatime 0 1
    /dev/sda3 /home ext3 noatime 0 2
    /dev/sda5 none swap sw 0 0
    /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom auto noauto,ro,user 0 0
#/dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto 0 0 No hay unidad de disco flsexible
    proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
    shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0
And a summary of my dmesg report

  • Learning History Read Only responsibility

    Hi All,
I need to create a resp with access to only Learning History tab. Can i do this quickly, i.e. is there a specific role I can assign via User Management which gives only access to Learning History tab?
If not, I will check the menu / functions on Learning Administrator resp and then personalizing any update buttons out. Are there any other threads on this or guides i can use for quick assistance?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Am so sorry, even i checked Query mode is not working in JSP pages,
You can try out simple solution to get your requirement done
    1.     Create custom responsibility with standard seeded menu.
    2.     Exclude following menu in custom responsibility
    a.     OTA Catalog Tab for Learning Administrator
    b.     OTA Content Tab for Learning Administrator
    c.     OTA Setup Tab for Learning Administrator
    d.     OTA Resource Tab for Learning Administrator
    hope this helps

  • V5 552P-X617 system info reads only 1.45 GB ram. It should have 6GB. What's wrong?

My V5 552P-X617 is supposed to have 6GB of ram. It is showing only 1.45 GB of ram on the computer properties page and the system info page.  I contacted customer support and since it is NOT under warrenty they transfered me to a secondary tech support company.  The company charged me $200 and said that it was a software issue and that they could fix it. They did NOT fix it and did NOT give me my money back.  On the task manager page it is showing to be using 75% of memory and 100% of Disk. Why is it not reading the 4GB of memory from the motherboard. If I remove the 2GB of installed memory the computer will not boot up.  The V5 will work, Slowly, if I do not run the antivirus. NotHappyV5

They made it worse and didn't offer a refund? That sounds screwed up, sorry. Is there any way you can complain to the people in charge and get your money back?

  • Make all the forms at a user level or responsibility level to be read only

    Hi,
Please suggest me to make all the forms at a user level or responsibility level to be read only. So that when a particular user logs in, he gets all the form in read only mode or at a particular responsibility all the forms are read only so that we can attach this responsibility to the user for the same purpose.
Any ideas will be highly appreciated.
