System Automatically Deleting Email Erroneously

My iPad/iPhone are deleting email messages as soon as I open them and without my wanting them to be deleted.  Updated software and tried to adjust settings - no luck.  Any suggestions on what could be going on?

Are your messages also downloaded to a home or office PC through outlook or another program?
Or do you check your email via a website and delete any mail?

  • Automatically delete emails in Mail for OS X

I currently have Mail set up so that it automatically archives emails received beyond a certain date to my Time Capsule. However, I then have to go into my inbox and delete the ones that I no longer need.
As such, is there any way of setting up Mail to automatically delete emails in my inbox, preferably a couple of days after my archive schedule so that they're not deleted before they can be archived! I note in Preferences that there is an option for Trash and Sent, but not the Inbox.
    Cheers.

    sure. see my post here

one change to this link. Cronnix does not seem to be avalaible any more. you can make a launch daemon to periodically run the script using Lingon. or you can use automator to make an ical plugin out of it and run it periodically using ical.

  • HTC rhyme automatically deletes emails in my inbox after 3 days...

When I get emails in my inboxes and read them and don't delete them, I intend to keep them until I want to delete them. However, all emails automatically get deleted after 3 days. I've looked through all the settings and I can't figure out how to fix it so that only I can delete them-they can't be automatically deleted. Does someone know how to fix this?? Thanks in advance!

We need more information from you on what you are using.  What type of email account (Outlook, GMail, Yahoo, etc.) is it that you have questions about?  Which email app are you using to check your email?  It doesn't sound like you are using an app from the Play Store, so I will answer assuming that you are using stock apps (ones that came on the phone out of the box).  I don't have the Rhyme, but I have other HTC phones.
For an Exchange account, go into the email app>menu>settings>sync, send & receive>sync settings>download past email.  This defaults to 3 days.  You can change it to time periods varying from 1-30 days and "All", which is what it sounds like you would prefer.
For GMail, go into the GMail app>menu>settings>select your email address>data usage>days of mail to sync and choose the number of days that you want to sync.
The settings will depend on your answers to the questions in my first paragraph.  Let us know if you have more questions or are using a different type of email on your phone.

  • Lumia 928 Automatically deletes email

My emails are automatically deleted from my Lumia 928 as soon as they are accessed on my desktop computer. I have Outlook 2007. Previously had a Blackberry and never had any email issues with in. None of the Outlook settings have been changed since I got the new phone.
I'm guessing this is a settings issue but have been unable to figure it out. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this for me.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

that's an outlook issue, your outlook deletes messages from server once it downloads the messages, and when your lumia syncs with server, they are also deleted from the phone. so you should better check your outlook settings and find the tick to keep the downloaded messages on server.
    The silence will fall

Is there a way to automatically delete mail from all users after, say 90 days? I apologize if this sounds like a simple/stupid question.

  • How to stop mailbox from automatically deleting email in trash

I would like to be able to store deleted emails indefinitely until I empty the trash mailbox. Even though I check "never" in the mailbox behavior, it only keeps the messages for 30 days.

To add to what Glenn has said, note that I have done exactly what you want to do in Mail for some time without seeing messages older than 30 days get deleted.  So I think you've got something else that's deleting those messages.
One other note: it's very easy to accidentally empty the trash and lose all those messages.  So I would recommend cleaning out the trash periodically and moving those messages to some kind of archival mailbox(es).  I keep a series of "On My Mac" mailboxes called "Trash 2012," "Trash 2011," "Trash 2010," etc, and I periodically move all messages from the trash into the appropriate mailbox.

  • Automatic deleted emails and contacts

    Can anyone help me
I have a E71 which is connected to automatic hotmail. Recently my phone deleted all my contacts from my phone book and the next day deleted all ym emails.
Is this a virus? if so how do i remove it.

Anything in Outlook is stored on the individual computer. It will not be stored on the website anywhere. You would need to Export all your emails and contacts from your old computers outlook program. Then take the file it creates and Import them to your new computers Outlook.

  • Curve 8330 Automatically Deleteing Emails

I have a Sprint 8330 that is receiving emails on one account.  After I read them, I'll close my messages and put the phone away.  A few hours later, I'll go to review the message again and it will be gone.  This is only happening on one account, which is a POP access account from GoDaddy.  I have a 4gb card in the phone and have 30363385 Bytes available in my free memory.
    Any ideas?

No I don't think so. I think that you should first try deleting the problem account and setting it up again.
Once you do, you will receive a verification message that the setup is successful. The next step if that doesn't work,
would be to resend service books and recreate all your accounts. Try the first step, and let us know!
    Thanks

  • How to  delete email attachments from server

    Hi,
I created an a CF template for sending e-mail which includes
attachments. It has been tested on my dev box and is functioning
fine as the attachment upload to a designated directory on the
server. I would like the attachments to be purged once the e-mail
has been forwarded to the recipent.
In Macromedia's ColdFuision 7MX web application construction
book page 913 "Interacting with Email" there is a CFC that will
delete the file when the user ends their session.
I am not sure how to write this to fit the code I am using.

The tutorial only explains how to delete the attachment when
    the recipient checks there mail
    in the POP server.
Assuming that the sender is in a session would the code be
written to delete the attached file from the directory on
the server one the e-mail is sent.
Can someone explain how to automatically delete email
attachments from a designated directory or provide me with the code
that would handle this after an email is sent with attachment.
    Thanks,
    Tony

I don't know why your dos code didn't run. It could be
addressing. My limited experience with cfdirectory/cffile/cfexecute
is to type out the complete path at least once.
    Good books?
Hard to say, depends on what else you are new at. If you are
new to html, then htmlgoodies.com has good tutorials. So does
webmonkey.com. If you have trouble with sql, I have heard good
things about the SAMS book, Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes by Ben
Forta. I learned javascript by buying the book Teach Yourself
Javascript in 24 Hours. The O'Reilly books are also good. I learned
awk with one of those books.
Glad you liked the fish pics. The camera is specified on most
of the pages. If it says Reefmaster, I used an external strobe. If
it says Sony I either used the camera flash only or natural light.
By the way, that is not a Cold Fusion site. It's strictly html and
    javascript.

  • How can I set TB to auto delete emails after a certain period of time?

I have two email accounts set up in TB.. I am using TB 24.5.0, and one of the email accounts is a Gmail account, and the other is a Microsoft Exchange account with a domain I own running through Office 365. I suppose technically TB looks at that account like an IMAP, although it is not an IMAP per se.
In any event, I am coming to TB new from using Outlook 2010 and 2013. I would like to figure out a way to create rules for each of the email accounts that would automatically delete emails from my inbox after they are a certain age. I would also like to determine how I can establish a retention policy for emails I know I want to keep beyond their automatic purge time frame.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

This only works with IMAP accounts.
    Tools (Alt-T) - Account Settings<br>
Select your account - Synchronization and Storage
Make sure to move any messages you want to keep to the Local Folders account prior to making changes. Local Folders should be set to keep messages forever.<br>
Note, this is a manual step.

  • Can I set up a rule to delete email messages based on age?

Can I set up a rule that automatically deletes email messages that are say 3 mos old?

In mail perferences, under rules, click add rule, then click on 'add recipient' and you'll have a menu of options. Pick date reeceived, in the next box choose 'is greater than' and in the next box however many days. Then under perform this action you can choose to delete the message or move it to another mailbox.
After defining that rule, it will automagically delete messages that meet that criteria.

  • Counting inbound emails (including those automatically deleted using ERMS)

    Hi all,
I have a requirement to be able to count all inbound emails in SAP CRM (5.0).  This includes all emails that have been automatically deleted using ERMS after the creation of an Interaction Record and Service Ticket.  Can anyone think of an easy way of doing this in SAP CRM?  The Email Workbench and Agent Inbox do not display deleted email Workitems.  The best option that I have been able to come up with is to export the Workitem Selection Report from transaction SWI1 into a spreadsheet and filter column Workitem ID for unique entries.  Does anyone know of a better way of achieving this?
    Thanks,
    Onkar.

By using POP3, mail is automatically deleted from the server once downloaded by the client without further user intervention (granted, not immediately due to BTYahoos recent non-standard implementation of the POP3 protocol). By contrast, the whole point of IMAP is that mail is left on the server to be available to multiple devices and requires user intervention to delete. Why would a system which is designed to be used for leaving mail on a server be recommmended to someone who wished it to be deleted? If you wish to be pedantic, I agree the OP didn't ask for mail to be automatically deleted, but then nor did he specify immediate deletion either. I interpreted the request as the former, you the latter. Perhaps if we understood the underlying reason why he wished the mail to be deleted in the first place it would help in providing a solution.
There seems to be a recurring theme on this forum to promote IMAP as a universal panacea to overcome all mail problems which is diverting attention away from fixing BTYahoo's broken POP3 servers which have to my knowledge at least 4 problems. Two are deliberate by BTYahoo, lack of secure login and moving read items to the Trash folder temporarily before deletion. Two are faults which they seem either unable or reluctant to fix, intermittant authentication problems and inabilty to download even modest sized attachments on a slow connection.
Correction, he did ask them to be deleted automatically.

  • Automatically delete unused email accounts

I am running Sun ONE Messaging Server 5.2 on Solaris.
How can I automatically detect and delete email accounts that have not been accessed in the last 60 days?
    Please advice.
    Raj

If you mean by accessed, the user hasn't logged-in to check their E-mail, you'd probably have to write a script to parse the pop or imap logs in msg-instance/log.
If you write it in perl, it would be fairly straight forward. Perl has some very nice date/time parsing routines.
I did a quick check of the schema reference and found nothing related to password expiration.
Also, this is often considered an external maintenance issue. Along with an E-mail account, users will typically get a Unix or Windows system account. When the user's system account is deleted, the mail administrator should be notified to delete the user's mail account. We have scripts that perform creation and deletion of accounts.

  • Automatically delete invite email?

Is there a way to have mail automatically delete an invite email once I've selected whether I'll be attending?
This feature exists within Microsoft's Entourage and it was great because if it was still in my inbox then I knew I hadn't responded. Now, I can't remember what I've responded to and what I haven't since they all remain in my inbox and have unintentionally deleted ones I hadn't yet responded to. I know I can click "more details" and have then event open a browser window to see if I had or not, but that's just an additional step.
