System auxiliary power mode

Hello.
Someone can explain me what is "system auxiliary power mode"?
I've searched on documentation but I didn't find it.
I don't think that is redundancy, because from "show power redundancy-mode" command I can see:
cat6513#sh power redundancy-mode
system power redundancy mode = redundant
But from "show power" command:
system auxiliary power mode = off
system auxiliary power redundancy operationally = non-redundant
system primary connector power limit =   5880.00 Watts (140.00 Amps @ 42V)
system auxiliary connector power limit = 0 Watt
system primary power used =              2766.96 Watts (65.88 Amps @ 42V)
system auxiliary power used =            0 Watt
What is this?
Thanks
Daniele

Hello,
Trust you are doing great.
This issue is observed whenever there is an hardware issue between the communication between Power supply and the Chassis.
Please go ahead and replace the Power supply unit.
Aside, you may check if there are any bend pins or any other deformation in the power/fan slot.

Mohit

  • Win10 defeating my system's low power modes

Both of these devices ran properly in their low-power modes under 8.1x64:
    1) Radeon HD 7850 2GB--For some reason after a boot up, 10-20 minutes later, my GPU jumps from its low-power clocks of 300Mhz/150MHz (core/ram) to full power, and shows 92% GPU activity and appears "stuck" there.  Removing all of the Win10
updates did not alleviate the problem as I was hoping for.  This is the case regardless of AMD gpu driver used.  But it gets better...
    2) Not only is my GPU stuck on full throttle mode (even when doing nothing or else simply browsing), but my *CPU,* which under 8.1x64 ran fine with AMD's Cool'nQuiet power reduction modes (like Intel's Speed Step), *also* (at the same time) kicks up to *full
power* although set in Windows to fluctuate between 10% and 100% on a demand basis.
The only cure that works is to log off and then back on...which corrects the problem for about another 20-30 minutes before both devices go to full power again. Definitely something is strange in the Win10 Preview (which I upgraded from an 8.1 installation
    with none of these problems.)
Now this may or may not be tied to the problem, but for some really oddball reason Windows10TP will not let me install two innocuous utilities I've used for years: CPU-Z & HWmonitor.  Win10 claims these application are incompatible with it--yet,
these are only simple hardware identifying programs--and both ran without difficulty under 8.1x64.
    Suggestions appreciated...!

Mike...Thanks for the reply!  This is a real head-scratcher...;)  I've used the last three drivers from AMD for the gpu--same result every time.  All clocks in the system bios (UEFI) are set to default, and my Win10 install is UEFI (not legacy)
and the Secure Boot State is ON. All clocks are running at defaults. I also reinstalled the Win10TP updates as I determined they weren't the problem as it continued after I uninstalled them.
Yes, C'nQ it is enabled in the bios (as I mentioned, all of this stuff worked like a clock under 8.1x64)...and that's the weird thing...Win10TP...operates exactly like it should in relation to the low power modes for around 20-30 minutes--exactly like it
did in 8.1 all the time--and then for some inexplicable reason both devices jump to full power/full speed--as if something is running that demands the power/speed--but it isn't!
I've run differing browsers with hardware acceleration turned off; I've run nothing at all apart from normal boot-up running programs, and it makes no difference.  Something is throwing these devices into max-power mode after 20-30 minutes from a boot/log-off/on
    having occurred.
Motherboard is MSI G46-970a, UEFI version 2.6 (latest)
CPU is AMD FX-6300 @ stock speeds & voltages
8GBs DDR 3 running with stock timings and settings (2x4GB)
    HIS HD 7850 2GB running @ stock speeds/voltages
I've all through the power savings options I'm using and can't find anything that might explain this--I keep going back to the fact that this never happened even once under 8.1, and I started with 8.0 in Jan '13 and have upgraded from there--never happened
with Win7x64, either (same hardware, same settings.)
I'm wondering if maybe I ought to be running the Enterprise version of Win10TP, but I can't really think of *why* that would make a difference with these symptoms...
If you think of anything else, I'm all ears...;)
Edit: BTW,  I am Migration User 1...;)  I hadn't signed in when I posted the original question--I suppose--although I didn't think I could post without being signed in...

  • How can I put my system into StandBy Mode?

    Hi
I am not able to put my system into stanby mode.
    How can I do that?

    Hi
As Ivan said you can use these two options.
Furthermore I would recommend checking the settings in the Toshiba power saver (if is installed)
Possibly you have to activate this option before using.

  • Settings erased when switching power modes

Let's start with the model: mid-2008 Macbook Pro (first unibody design, so you need to logout to switch power modes).
When I switch power modes (and log back in), 2 of my System preferences are back to their defaults. Specifically, my Sounds setting (for muting feedback when the volume is changed) and MobileMe are back to their defaults.
I have tried removing all MobileMe references from the Keychain, resetting the PRAM, among a few other simple fixes. Nothing has worked thus far.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

If 'cinema setting' means 24p then you will not be able to use that clip in PRE.
Ideally create different projects for each frame rate used. Then Share these projects to a common format and create a 'master project' with those setting into which you can load each of those Shares.

  • Webcam not entering low-power mode after resume

Can other W520 owners with a webcam (and potentially other models) confirm whether or not the camera prevents the USB subsystem from entering low power mode?
    1) Unplug all USB peripherals, and turn off Bluetooth (this runs on USB as well)
    2) Put the system into standby, unplug the AC adapter, and resume the system on battery.
    3) Load a Command Prompt and run powercfg -energy
    4) Load the generated report and look for the following:
The most noticeable issue caused by this is unnecessarily high power consumption, and as a result, lower battery life.
Turning the camera on and off (using the Fn=F6 preview window) turns this off and returns power consumption to normal.
On the latest available BIOS, chipset, and camera drivers.
Would like someone to confirm whether this is a driver issue or if it's just my system.

I have a very similar spec also. The pair of U2410's (updated revision A01) connected to it won't go into sleep mode (just go black, with backlight still on).
The pair of cheapie BenQ 2420HD's I had connected while I waited for the Dells went into sleep mode fine.
Someone on another forum noted that they had a different model Dell on Mac with the same problem, and he found it only happened when the USB uplink cable was connected to the Mac. I disconnected mine (uplink and down), but no change unfortunately.
Google searching seems to suggest this is almost exclusively only with a Dell/Mac combo (same monitor on PC works fine and other brands on Mac work fine). These U2410 monitors get an absolute bagging on most forums, and I think most of it is deserved. These will both be going back for a refund with severe blue/pink tints making them visually perform worse than the BenQ's that were 1/3 the price. What's the point of spending 2 to 3 times the amount on IPS monitors when they're off colour even right in front of them!
The HP 24" IPS uses the same crap LG panel as these Dells, I can't justify 2 x 30" Apple Cinema displays for AU$5000, and one just won't cut it. No simple answer it seems....

  • Lion low-power mode and iTunes client

Potentially dumb question, but it may make a difference in when and/or how I update my home network for media...
I understand that OS X Lion includes a "low-power" mode, in that it's a partial wake-on-LAN that doesn't wake up the display, etc.  I also know that an Apple TV can't stream media (movies, specifically) from an NAS type system without going through an iTunes client at some point (even if the NAS has an iTunes server built in).
So, my question is -- does Lion's wake-on-LAN work in this sort of situation?  That is, if the computer is in sleep mode, but iTunes is running, will attempting the stream a movie from the NAS to an Apple TV "wake" the Mac to perform its duties, and if so, does it do so in the low-power mode that doesn't turn on the display?

  • T530 Airplane In-Seat Power Mode = reject power adapter

    Hello,
I have a T530 quad core, which means I need the 135W power adapter.  I was flying yesterday and my seat had power, so I figured I would use the "Airplane In-Seat Power Mode" function on Power Manager to avoid tripping any breakers on the airplane.  However (and I've tried this at home as well on AC mains), choosing the airplane in-seat power mode doesn't seem to result in the advertised "adjusting charge rate and cpu" - instead it just causes the laptop to not charge at all and say this:
"This AC adapter may not provide enough power to your Lenovo computer. Please reconnect the proper AC adapter."
Of course... it is the right adapter... and switching off Airplane Power Mode makes it start charging normally again immediately.
I have the BIOS update needed that says it enables this feature (1.12), and Power Manager 6.32.
Has anyone else tried Airplane In-Seat Power Mode and had it work, or can anyone from Lenovo comment on this?
    THANKS!

The fine print on at-seat-power for many airlines specifically excludes "battery charging" as a permitted use, so it may well have something to do with that restriction.
Will there be enough power for my device (how many watts can it handle)?
Most airplane power systems are limited to approximately 75 Watts of power draw per seat. This means that a new 17" laptop, with a power-hungry processor, might not get enough juice to operate. Sometimes the laptop will know not to charge the battery and will just operate via the power, but other times the laptop won't work at all, or will work for a short period of time before tripping the power circuit. You can try taking your battery out all together, or buy a smaller laptop.
The SeatGuru power converter reviewers recommend removing the laptop battery before plugging the device into the EmPower unit. The laptop should then run on EmPower. Often, about one hour to 30 minutes before the end of a flight, the EmPower system will be as shut-off, and the laptop will abruptly lose power. (Make sure to save your work!)
Will my battery charge while I'm plugged in?
Don't count on it. Again, because of the limited amount of power draw per seat, it is possible that your laptop won't get enough power to both operate and charge. Some airlines, like Continental Airlines, specifically state that battery charging is not allowed and ask you to remove your rechargeable battery from your device.

  • Power mode execution error

I am getting power mode execution error while capturing test steps.CAn anyone help me  to resolve this issue?

Hal is giving you good advice as usual; but in addition do have a look through previous posts.

I'm using DVD-R which has worked fine before.
Do you mean that you are using a brand of DVD-R that has worked before, or just DVD-R which worked before? If you have changed your brand of blank disc, then revert to a known good one for your system.

  • P67A-GD55 board stuck in "CPU is in 1 phase power mode" loop.

New build: mobo: as stated, CPU: i5-2500k, Cooler: Cooler Master TX3, PSU: OCZ700SXSP, RAM: 4x2GB PNY DDR3-1600, GPU: EVGA GT440, HDD: WD500AAKX, DVD: LGGH22NS50.  System assembled without a hitch in Cooler Master Centurion 534+ ATX case.
Moment of truth:  Switch PSU on. System launched into loop of CPU 1 phase power mode = on for fraction of second, off for 1-2 sec.  The indicator is led 1 of 6 lighting briefly with each cycle.  The FP power led lights up and the fans all spin during the brief on periods. Started disconnecting peripherals and power connections, removing ram and at each test there was no change.  Got down to just PSU and mobo with still no change.  Pulled CPU power connector leaving just mobo 24 pin and still no change.  Reseated CPU and switched coolers somewhere in the middle of that.
What have I missed that will get this system to boot?

Last update to this thread, just to say problem completely solved with the replacement mobo from MSI.  This one booted up the way it should and my new system is purring and running quite cool under all default settings.  Have just two 120 mm case fans, one intake and one exhaust, plus TX3 cooler on the i2500k.  MSI software says CPU is running about 29 degees and NZXT sentry 2 fan controller says bottom of heatsink is 23-24, with all temps min the case < 25 and no warm air exhaust.  Must be the relatively mousy GPU (EVGA GT440) not cooking everything in the neighborhood.
I didn't build this for gaming, just for running a very large number of browser, Excel, Windows Explorer et al windows at the same time without hanging.  It's doing that now under W7 Pro 64bit.   to MSI for backing up their warranty and   from me when I use the new rig.

I've got 30 years in the business, and I'm not making this up. Your symptoms are just like those who have had underrated supplies and have fixed them by replacing the PSU. You are also in danger of wrecking your RAM, by the way, which costs much more than a PSU.
Don't know why you reported a problem if you don't want to even consider the advice, or avail yourself of the painstaking research I did.

  • How to disable airplane power mode completely on T440p Windows 7 64?

    Hi!
I have updated Windows 7 64 and latest Lenovo Power Manager 6.66.3
My computer continuously switches to airplane power mode while being conneted to AC power source.
*Despite* being disabled in the power manager ir still does it and being connected to AC power discharges the battery (also when the lid is closed it goes standby etc.).
I don't need it! I need my notebook run at full performance while it is connected to the AC power, no matter if I type keys/move mouse or not, is battery fully charged or not.
    Please help me achieving this.
    Thank you in advance/

    Hi!
Yes, I would happily do that, but without Lenovo power manager my screen goes dim frequently. So even when I have power management in Windows set to not save power on anything, it still flickers and i think it is something wrong with Lenovo BIOS or similar. Lenovo power manager took those screen flickers away, but brought that airplane mode that simply cannot be disabled.
