System center PXE OSD reboots immediately, logs show 80004005

I'm trying to get PXE deployments working and running into a wall.  The wim will boot up and the gui will go through a few steps.  When it gets to "configuring network" or something like that, it reboots.  Unless I already have the
command prompt open.  I know it has the right network drivers, partly because it's running in a hyper-v VM and partly because I can map shares from the server.  Time is synced to at least the mine on the computers.  Here's an excerpt from the
log it leaves.  I'm running SCCM 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2012 R2 and deploying the same.  Any suggestions?

At some point I had do add prestart command for my WinPE boot image to 'wait' a while so that the network gets up:
ping sccmserver.domain.local -n 10
Btw. is the TS deployed as Available? Is the computer in case Unknown or does it exist in the console?
I can immediately ping/map when opening the command prompt.  I'll try the prestart command and see what it does.
Yes, the task sequence is listed as deployed and available to All Systems.  The computer does not exist in the console (though it gets created after the first time, but OSD still dies the same way).

    Hi,

  • System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection - any user may reboot Windows Server

    Hello,
I've got System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection client installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server. I've just noticed that if System Center Endpoint Protection detects some malware that requires system restart in order to successfully clean it,
the notification will be seen by all logged users on Terminal Server and if anyone will press on "Restart" than the Server will reboot even if User hasn't the required permission and I think this is totally unacceptable, Microsoft has to do something
about it. In all situations only an Administrator should have the right to restart the Server.
Please fix this issue asap, thank you.

While there is no setting that just controls the 'SCEP needs to reboot', there are other settings that might help.
Have you tried setting "Disable the client user interface" to Yes on the antimalware policy?  How about "Show notifications messages..."?  I don't have a way to reproduce the behavior you were seeing, but maybe you can give it a shot.
I understand why Microsoft would want to give non-admin users a prompt to reboot a machine that needs it to remove malware.  This is the typical scenario for most workstations. However, your exception with a terminal server is definitely something that
    needs a workaround.
If you put in Connect feedback asking for a discreet setting to control this, please post a link to it.
    I hope that helps,

  • Upgrade System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 CU6 -- 2012 RTM issues (Assembly related exception in log)

    Hi guys
I am currently performing a distributed, complex upgrade with a customer:
4 management servers (1 being RMS), both databases (OM & DW) on a single SQL Server (2008 R2 SP2)
We moved over the RMS role to another server and decomissioned the old one due to it being a 2003 server.
Then we upgraded all non-RMS management servers.
We had some issues with them as well (same error in the log), but when we reinstalled the 2007 R2 binaries & patches and redid the upgrade it came through fine.
The RMS however keeps throwing the same error. Things I tried:
    - Full clean of the server including momclean and msizap, then reinstall the RMS and retry the upgrade
    - Reregister of the msiexec server
I am suspecting some issues with assemblies and / or GAC, but no clear proof on that, only that it crashes after performing assembly operations.
Below an extract from the RemoveMOMServer.log (the error occurs when uninstalling SCOM 2007 R2)
Can anyone help out or give me some pointers on possible causes?
    Many thanks in advance!

  • System Center 2012 R2 install: SQL server Data file and log file

This might be a dumb question, but I can't find the answer anywhere.
I'm installing a new instance of  System Center 2012 R2 on a new server, I'm stuck on the SQL Server data file section.  Everytime I put in a path, it says that tne path does not exist.  I'm I supposed to be creating some sort of SQL Server
data file and log file before this installation, I didn't get this prompt when installing System Center 2012 SP1 or hen I upgraded from System Center 2012 SP1 to System Center 2012 R2
My SQL is on a different server
    Thank you in advanced

    Have you reviewed the setup.log?
On a side note, why would you put the database file on the same drive as the OS? That defeats the whole purpose of having a remote SQL Server. Why use a remote SQL Server in the first place.

  • I want to use Native System Center Software Center Notification box or Windows Update dialogue box to force a reboot.

I'm installing software that will require a reboot. I would like to use the Windows Update dialogue box to prompt users to reboot.
Or a reboot dialogue box that mimics System Center Software Center Notification box
Does anyone know of a way to use the System Center Client notification or the Windows update box to force a reboot. This is familiar to my users and will not freak them out

The Coretech Shutdown Tool is free, excellent and would satisfy your requirement.

  • System logs in then immediately logs back out

    Hello,
I have an assignment that is due in school on Monday, but there is one problem: Leopard instantly takes me back to the log in screen after I've entered my password.
Right now I'm trying to repair disk permission, but apparently I'm having trouble getting that out of the way for now.
Any suggestions or help would be welcome.
    Regards,
    The Wampus Cat

have you repaired permissions? You said in your first post you were having trouble with that. First thing you should do is boot from the leopard install DVD and repair the start up drive and permissions.
If that doesn't help, boot from the install DVD again and once past the language selection screen go to the Utilities menu and choose "Reset password" ( NOT "firmware password"). Select your start up disk and then your account from the pull-down menu. Click "reset ACLs and permissions" button at the bottom.
Restart and see if you can log in now. If you still can't your user account is seriously messed up and I would suggest creating a new one and moving your files there.
If you don't have another user set up, start from the leopard install DVD again and start the "reset password" utility again. This time select System administrator (root) from the pull down menu and set a password for root. This will enable root user on your machine. Restart and at the login window select other and log in as root with the password you just set. If you can's log in as root you a looking for a system reinstall. If you can log in as root, go to account preferences in system preferences and set up a new admin user. move your stuff from the corrupt user to the new one and work from that account.

  • Downloaded version 10, when I log on it wants to restart all the time. It has shut down and restarted at least 10 times and the same message still comes up "Your system has to be rebooted." and when you do the same message comes up?

Cannot logon to Firefox now that version 10 has been installed. I cannot even delete the program from my system. To delete it gives the same message "Your system has to be rebooted" What is going on?

    Hi Cot230tage,
Usually the only reason it will ask you to reboot is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
    * Right-click the icon and choose ''Run as Administrator''
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
    # Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ Mozilla download page] and save the file to the desktop.
    # [[Uninstalling Firefox|Uninstall]] your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
    # Run installer
Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. That way you'll still have your personal information.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • PXE OSD Task Sequence fails to run on new laptop

We are trying to run a working PXE OSD task sequence on a new HP laptop.  It's a Elitebook 840 G2.  We've downloaded the provided driver package & created a new driver package in SCCM.  We inserted the driver into the boot image &
updated the DPs.  When we PXE boot the laptop it flashes the splash screen & reboots.  Other laptops & desktops boot properly.  This looks like a driver issue but we wanted to run it past the forum to see if anyone had any other suggestions.

managing database backups across all the instances without maintenance plan
Samuel Lester: "Chandra, outstanding contribution and information! Your SSIS package handles many of the shortcomings of Maintenance Plans. MPs were originally created to assist DBAs with the more common administrative
tasks, but as the scale continues to grow across enterprise environments, we're all forced to write our own enhanced versions such as this. Thanks for the addition and please do add to the Gallery if you haven't yet."
Jinchun Chen: "Nice. It is suggested to add error outputs in the package to handler unexpected errors."
NN: "Good article. The SSIS solution can use a bit more explanation. Also See Also section is missing"
DRC: "This is good article, The only this which can be corrected is : ==> This can be achieved using “maintenance Cleanup Task • Maintenance Plan has a control flow item “maintenance Cleanup Task” to delete the old backup files based
on age of the backup, but it creates the problem when it deletes the full database backups based on n no.of days leaving all the dependent intermediate differential and transaction logs which are useless. "

After I removed the update the VMM was able to start, no reboot required.
When I have time I will try to apply both updates again successfully and see if the issue still occurs.
    Vista Ultimate Dell XPS M1330

FYI.  I've had the same issue after I installed Update Rollup 3 (KB2965413), seeing the exact same error on event log.  Tried to start the service manually, getting service unable to start error.  This is a machine running
with Windows Server 2012 Standard.  Solution for me is simple. I just install
KB2965414 (Update Rollup 3 for SCVMM 2012 R2), reboot the server, and the SCVMM service auto start up by itself.

  • MS System Center Operations Manager 2010 Download required for Upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 (Select)

We need the download of SCOM 2012 without Service Pack1.
Upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 (select license) fails while upgrade check with error: Logs shows "At least one of the following applications is installed on this computer. Due
to incompatibility with System Center 2012 - Operations Manager, these applications must be uninstalled."
Upgrade was started from dos elevated prompt with modified parameters like this:
    setup.exe /silent /upgrade
    /AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement:1
    /UseLocalSystemDASAccount
    /DataReaderUser:<domain\user>
    /DataReaderPassword:<password>
Research in internet and we found another person with same issue, which reports that direct upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 SP1 is not possible but if upgrade is done over
SCOM 2012 to SCOM 2012 SP1 it succeeds.
Unfortunately, we don't find any downloads for the first release of System Center 2012  e.g. Operations Manager.
Everything shows Service Pack 1 or the newer R2.
    Who can help?

Our “Recommended” rolling upgrade path looks like the following:
    SCOM 2007R2 CU4+ > SCOM 2012 RTM UR2+ >
    SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4+ > SCOM 2012 R2
