  • Planning System Center Operation Manager 2012 R2 on SQL 2012 Active/Passive Cluster

    Dears,
I'm planning to deploy System Center Operation Manager 2012 R2 on SQL 2012 Active/Passive Cluster which have other sql instances running for other applications. And i'm planning to create a new instance for SCOM, kindly provide me recommendation
whether i can install all sql databases for SCOM on same sql instance or does it require separate instances for opsmanger database , dw database and ACS database?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
Yes, all SCOM SQL databases can run on the same instance of SQL server.
As well, look at some helpful posts for the topic:

  • Cisco IPT and Microsoft System Centre Operations Manager

    Hi All
Does anybody used Cisco IPT with System Centre Operations Manager?
Does System Centre Operations Manager supports Cisco CallManager OS and Hardware for monitoring?
    Thanks
    VKS

    Hi David,
Thanks for your reply. I have gone through the links which you have mentioned. As per the Overview of Operations Manager 2007 R2 section in What's New & Improved in Operations Manager 2007 R2 document it is clearly mentioned the below points:
Delivers monitoring across Windows, Linux and Unix servers–all through a single console.
Extend end to end monitoring of distributed applications to any workload running on Windows, Unix and Linux platforms.
The Cisco Servers are also Windows and Linux Based.

  • Management pack version difference in System Center - Operations Manager 2012 R2 - Help us.

    Hi,
I have SC Operation manager 2012 r2 in my environment. It has managed with multiple management servers.
I have import some unsealed MPs through Ops SDK code and by manually using Operation manager console.
Here with i tried to install higher version of MPs and upgrade its version from 1.1.0.0 to 6.0.0.0.
    case 1:
After successful installation of some MPs and check Operation manager console, it showing newly upgraded version(6.0.0.0).
Then i have import that MP and checked its version inside it showing 1.1.0.0(older version).
Here the imported MP has 1.1.0.0 version and console showing its version as 6.0.0.0.
Why it showing different versions in imported MP(inside xml)  and Operations manager console view?
    case 2:
    After that i tried to import other MPs using console. But it showing below error;
    Verification failed with 1 errors:
    Error 1:
Found error in 2|Monitoring.ActiveDirectory_server|6.0.0.0|Monitoring.ActiveDirectory_server|| with message:
Could not load management pack [ID=Monitoring.Base, KeyToken=9e875220a3987e0b, Version=6.0.0.0]. The management pack was not found in the store.
: Version mismatch. The management pack ([Monitoring.Base, 9e875220a3987e0b, 1.1.0.0]) requested from the database was version 6.0.0.0 but the actual version available is 1.1.0.0.
Its happened in  multiple management servers scenario. So Is any possibility to happen because of multiple management servers scenario?. There is no issues in this same MPs while i tried in single management server. These same MPs are imported and working
fine in single management server scenario.
Help me to solve these 2 issues!!
    Thanks,
    satheesh

    1) At first, you should make sure that the imported MP has correct version. I will open the XML of the imported MP and check its current version e.g.
When you open the xml file of imported MP, the version number is shown as
    <Manifest>
        <Identity>
            <ID>Microsoft.SystemCenter.Visualization.Component.Library.Resources</ID>
            <Version>1.0.0.2</Version>
        <Identity>
        <Name>Resources library</Name>
        <References>
            <Reference Alias="System">
            <ID>System.Library</ID>
            <Version>1.0.0.1</Version>
From the above sample, the imported MP version number is 1.0.0.2.
    2) I am using operation console to import the management pack and check the version number in operations console whether it is updated to new version 1.0.0.2
    3) Using operations console to export the MP which has imported in step 1) and open it to check what is the version number of MP. Make sure that the version is 1.0.0.2
    4) If the above procedure provide a prefer match of version number, re-import all problematic MP.
    5) At last, you may use the following SQL to check whether the correct version number of MP is stored in DB successful
select version, friendlyname from managementpackview where friendlyname like 'Microsoft.SystemCenter.Visualizatio%'

  • System Center Operations Manager 2012 SDK: Is there a ways to get MonitoringAlerts by ManagementPack?

I have a couple of question on SCOM 2012 SDK usage:
    1. In SCOM 2012 SDK, GetMonitoringAlerts API has various overloads that allow user (client) to filter alerts by properties, management class etc. but I do not find a way to filter the alerts by management pack.
I can achieve it by enumerating classes in a management pack and then querying alerts for each class, but this would result in a lot of calls to management server. I wanted to check if there's a easier way to perform this operation.
    2. I do not see any support for sorting/paging alert data, does the SDK support server side sorting/paging of data?
PS: I could not find SCOM forum, please re-direct to appropriate forum if possible.
    Thanks in advance!

  • System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2 and SQL Server 2014 Reporting Services

I was able to connect SCOM12 to SQL14, however when I attempted to install Reporting Service in SCOM12 the pull down box was blank.
I installed reporting services on the same instance of SystemCenter, when that didn't work I tried creating a new instance that only included SSRS; remote registry is also running. The drop-down box within the SCOM installer is blank.
Is this an issue with reporting between SC12 and SQL14, yes I understand documentation says only sql server 2012 is supported, however I've seen many threads with SCOM12 and SQL12 that are having the same issues.
Is there something I may be missing, or do I have to install SQL12 and go through the process again?

    Hi,
As far as I know, the SCOM reporting server role should be installed on the same server where SQL reporting service installed.

  • Installation of Operations Manager 2012 R2 along with 2012

    Hi,
I have an existing SCOM infra (Single SCOM server with version System Center Operations Manager 2012 (7.0.8560.0) )
Now I want to deploy SCOM 2012 R2 in 2 servers (Management server, operation console, web console ) on both the machines for high availability.
My question is - Is it possible to deploy the SCOM 2012 R2 in the existing infrastructure without installation SP1 or any cumulative update on the present server? Since I want to setup the SCOM 2012 R2 on 2 new machines, is it possible to go ahead without
in place upgrade or do I need to demote the existing SCOM 2012 and then freshly install SCOM 2012 R2?
Please suggest the best way to move from SCOM 2012 Single server to SCOM 2012 R2 on 2 new machines.
Thanks in Advance, Any quick help highly appreciated.
    Best Regards

  • Upgrade System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 CU6 -- 2012 RTM issues (Assembly related exception in log)

    Hi guys
I am currently performing a distributed, complex upgrade with a customer:
4 management servers (1 being RMS), both databases (OM & DW) on a single SQL Server (2008 R2 SP2)
We moved over the RMS role to another server and decomissioned the old one due to it being a 2003 server.
Then we upgraded all non-RMS management servers.
We had some issues with them as well (same error in the log), but when we reinstalled the 2007 R2 binaries & patches and redid the upgrade it came through fine.
The RMS however keeps throwing the same error. Things I tried:
    - Full clean of the server including momclean and msizap, then reinstall the RMS and retry the upgrade
    - Reregister of the msiexec server
I am suspecting some issues with assemblies and / or GAC, but no clear proof on that, only that it crashes after performing assembly operations.
Below an extract from the RemoveMOMServer.log (the error occurs when uninstalling SCOM 2007 R2)
Can anyone help out or give me some pointers on possible causes?
    Many thanks in advance!

  • After creating a Powershell script monitor - how to import in Operation Manager 2012 ?

    Hello!
I just completed all the steps in this article:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16752.management-pack-composition-exercise-2-creating-a-monitor-based-on-a-windows-powershell-script.aspx?CommentPosted=true#commentmessage
So now I guess that the just created Management Pack should be imported in Operation Manager 2012, and then also folders and views should be created in order to have it showing green/red based on the values returned by the script.
In the article there's no pointer to that procedure, so can you please provide a good link where the steps are explained?
    thanks!

Have a look at the following video, it steps through how to create rules and monitors using PowerShell scripts
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/video/how-do-i-create-a-rule-and-monitor-using-a-windows-powershell-script-in-a-system-center-operations-manager-management-pack.aspx

  • Operations Manager 2012 Generates a lot of Alerts

    Hello,
Please kindly help.....I deployed Operations Manager 2012 and configured the Email Notifications. Now OpsMgr is generating a lot of Email alerts.......
How can i reduce on the alerts and Email noise and only tune for the required Email notifications.
OpsMgr is currently monitoring Active Directory,Exchange,SharePoint,SQL,Lync,IIS,and other components of System Center.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ronald.

    Hi Ronald,
    You got two option.
    1) Fine tune the subscription
    2) Fine tune each and every rule and monitor
Tuning subscription is easy and quick solution to stop recieveing emails. Try to narrow down subscription to very critical monitor and rules. You may not be interested in recieving emails for some service monitor and rules, you may remove them from your
    subscription list.
Creating overrides to tune monitor and rules is lengthy process as you have to create override for each rule and monitor. I will suggest; first find out most noisy rules & monitor and fine tune them.
Top 20 Alerts in an Operational Database, by Alert Count
SELECT TOP 20 SUM(1) AS AlertCount, AlertStringName, AlertStringDescription, MonitoringRuleId, Name
    FROM Alertview WITH (NOLOCK)
    WHERE TimeRaised is not NULL
GROUP BY AlertStringName, AlertStringDescription, MonitoringRuleId, Name
    ORDER BY AlertCount DESC

  • Extending System Center Operations Manager Classes & Discovery SCOM 2007 R2

I want to add some additional attributes to SCOM that are populated from information in another database.....for example.
I have a CMDB that contains information about the support level for each server (i.e. gold, silver, bronze), i want to be able to display this information in the SCOM console.  This needs to cover both Windows and Unix/linux servers.
I have played around with creating a custom MP and have created a new class, and custom script discovery using a vbscript to query the CMDB SQL database containing the info that i want....I have got to the point where i can see the new column in SCOM console
but cannot get it to populate with any data.
    any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

  • Operations Manager 2012 R2 UR3

When updating to UR3 the system wants to upgrade the agents. Does this require a reboot of the client servers? (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2965445) Is this the last update applied to Operations
Manager 2012 R2? I have applied UR1 and UR2 to the system. Version is at 7.1.10226.0

am agreed with Alexey, I had install UR 3 two times in two different customer and have same old agent version, and there are no agent server restart required.
even I try to install agent in new server after UR3 give same agent version.
