System config to install BI.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me,
What is system config to install BI.
i already have 4.7,Is it possible to apply patches that has BI.
or do I need to install ECC6 for r/3 and BI server.

Hi ,
In R/3 4.7, BI 3.5 is integrated, in R/3 ECC 6.0, BI 7.0 logic is integrated. You cannot upgrade only BI without upgrading the whole R/3 system: 4.7 -> ECC 6.0. This is the downside of integrated scenario's.
But ,running BI 7.0 against a R/3 release 4.7 is no problem at all .Just check that the PI plugin module is present or otherwise has to be imported to be able to pull data from R/3 into BI. Check service marketplase swdc:Installations and Upgrades" -> Plug-Ins" -> SAP Plug-In" PI" -> PI 2004_1_470.
After installing apply the latest patchlevels for your plugin !
Hope this helps,
Regards

    max kaspar, please edit your post - the bright yellow is hard on the eyes.
    When posting configs, code or command output, please use [ code ] tags https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode
    like this
    It makes the code more readable and - in case of longer listings - more convenient to scroll through.
    *.pyc files can cause a conflict like that, usually you can remove them, as they don't belong to any package.

  • System-config-display, gnome-display-properties - inconsistent R5 U5 64bit

    Hi all,
    I have OEL Rel 5 U5 (64-bit) installed and running on an IBM x3200 which has Radeon integrated graphics, with a IBM ThinkVision LCD monitor (1280x1024 max)
    Problem I have is eventhough system-config-display lets me select 1280x1024 I can't actually get it to switch. Upon log-off/log-in, reboot, restart, etc... it still returns to 1024x768 mode.
    Running gnome-display-properties only gives me a choice of 1024x768, 800x600, or 640x480.
    I've also tried xrandr and trying to force it to 1280x1024 but it tells me I only have the 3 choices given by gnome-display-properties.
    My xorg.conf file is configured with 1280x1024, 1024x768, and 800x600 modes, so I'm baffled at where gnome-display-properties and xrandr are getting their mode choices...
    Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Based on Xorg log I'm guessing the monitor driver just will not support the higher res and apparently that's where 'gnome-display-properties' gets its info regardless of what I try in Xorg.conf.
    I'll see if I can manipulate the monitor settings and see where that gets me...
    I see the following in the log:

  • System-config-printer-gnome freezes when trying to "Add" a printer

    I have the same issue that was discussed in the thread system-config-printer-gnome utility freezes when "adding" printer. Specifically, when I try to add a printer using system-config-printer gui, the window freezes and throws back the following code:

    The solution mentioned was to use the CUPS web interface. This lets me add a printer (which is part of the solution), this is not the complete solution. I've used the utility before, and I'm comfortable with it, and I think that I should be able to use the gnome utility to add the printer if everything on my system is up to date (which it is, as of this posting). I would like to know why it doesn't work anymore (and I'm of the impression that it has something to do with how I've installed python on my system).
    I've googled the issue, and perhaps I didn't look around thoroughly enough, but I couldn't find a solution. So if somebody knows where to look I'd be glad to look there.

    I have the same problem. I noticed that it occured only after installing the following driver packages.
    hpoj-0.91-16 hplip-3.11.3-1 net-snmp-5.6.1-1 foomatic-db-engine-4.0.6_20101215-1 foomatic-db-4.0.6_20101215-1
    I did a workaround by installing the printer using the webinterface, removing the drivers again, setting the samba login details and then reinstalling the drivers.
    But this problem should really be fixed.

  • Do we need to run patch-config and install-newconfig

    Hi Team,
    I have a scenario wherein I have installed the JES2005Q4 messaging server :
    bash-3.00# ./imsimta version
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-3.04 (built Jul 15 2005)
    libimta.so 6.2-3.04 (built 01:43:03, Jul 15 2005)
    SunOS sunjes22 5.10 Generic_118833-33 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-100
    bash-3.00#
    I have not configured this box. (Initial run time config is not executed.)
    I would be updating the latest patch 118207-63 on this box.
    Do we need to run the patch-config and install-newconfig after executing the patchadd command.
    This is a fresh installation of the messaging server without any configurations being done
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I don't know if it is required, but best to err on the side of caution. Worst case nothing will be patched/modified (or there will be an error and the scripts will crash). Either way a valuable learning experience.
    btw. Why not install comm-suite-5 (Messaging Server 6.3)?
    Regards,
    Shane.

  • Problem with system config "@^@^@^@^@"

    Hello, newbie here (to the forums and to linux in general). I have been trying to install archlinux on my virtual machine for the past few days, following tutorials on youtube and on the archwiki, and I have hit a snag.
    After installing the packages, I go down to configuration and hit system config. On the tutorials normally people are allowed to configure their time or boot as DCHP, but for me all I get when I go into system config is one line of code that looks like this: @^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@
    and it just keeps going. What does this mean? Does it mean I messed up a step in the installation process? Or should I not worry about it?

    Welcome to the forum Decommissioner!
    Did you use earlier Unix-like systems, like BSDs, Mac e.g. ?
    Why did you choose Archlinux?
    Which file do you mean under sysconfig ?
    Maybe ArchWiki will be the best friend in the early days.
    Good Luck!

    OEL4.5 would randomly hang (fall offf horse, wander around in daze), lvm/vgscan reported Dup...PV and bad metadata, fixed by excluding all but Genuine LVM partitions in lvm.conf
    But now no system-config-lvm - makes me nervous.
    Any ideas, suggestions, revealations?

    Some new developments...
    When setting up a partition for a new OEL5 install, I did a sector-by-sector copy of the partition holding VolGroup00 to an (I thought) unused partition. Subsequently on OEL4.5 boot, the lvm used the back-up VolGroup vice the original, a fact overlooked by me. The low speed backup partition held the mounted Volume Group, not the high speed original partition—and I didn't notice any difference, but then I didn't stress test it either.
    This fact came to light when upgrading OEL4.5 kernel failed when NVIDIA install script couldn't find the kernel-develop… modules, linux.oracle.com & up2date downloaded the regular kernel-develop… but not the kernal-smp-develop…. This resulted in a kernel corruption of some sort, causing a kernel panic by lvm at boot, VolGroup00 not found.
    The older kernel in OEL4.5 still booted, but now the server would randomly freeze. Fortunately the OEL5.1 installation worked well, and between the two, all this was sorted out—except for the random freeze now also occurring in the kernel updated OEL4.5. Required redownload of kernel rpms and manual download/install for the kernel-smp-develop…
    I think I have the freeze problem solved—apparently related to the crond calling …/lib64/sa every five minutes to update statistics for sar. Not sure because no clue from the logs.
    It was a weird freeze—no screen update except if you pressed a key on the keyboard or changed the mouse pointer focus, then is would unfreeze for a very short period.
    I cannot say it was fun, but my 10gR2 is back running which is why I need the OEL4.5.
    KISE
    Some things learned:
    system-config-lvm (the GUI) can fail with warning if there are configuration errors.
    Watch boot details for lvm messages, (Alt-D) and periodically check lvm: vgscan, lvscan, vgs, & lvs.
    When doing a sector-by-sector partition backup that contains an lvm, make it "not available" and filter it out in lvm.conf, although lvm messages can show up in boot details, the server is not supposed to use a "restricted" partition.
    Having a separate (including seperate boot loader) linux installation is really penguin cool.

  • System-config-firewall

    How to install : system-config-firewall in : Oracle Linux Server release 5.8 x86_64 ?
    Because :
    yum install system-config-firewall
    Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security
    This system is not registered with ULN.
    ULN support will be disabled.
    Setting up Install Process
    No package system-config-firewall available.
    Nothing to do
    Thank's

    The wget utility does not replace any existing file unless you use the --output parameter.
    It's probably easier to simply delete the existing file:
    <pre>
    rm -rf /etc/yum.repos.d/etc/public-yum-el5.repo
    wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-el5.repo
    </pre>
    It is not necessary to edit the file and to enable any channels to apply system updates and install additional packages. The el5_latest repository is enabled by default and that's all you need to have enabled. And eventually ol5_UEK_latest if you use the UEK 2 kernel. On March 22, 2012 Oracle included updates and errata for free.
    If the OP does not want to install any system updates and remain at the distribution level (s)he needs to enable only ol5_u8_base.

  • OEL 6.3 system-config-network tool

    Hi all,
    I just do an installation of OEL 6.3 and wonder while the system-config-network tool looks completely new.
    Okay there a lot of things missing like editing hostname, domain, dns and so on.
    What do I have to do to get it back under OEL 6.3?
    I try the other tools system-config-network-tui and system-config-network-cmd but I can't find the functionality.
    What do I have to edit and configure manually when the system-config-network doesn't exists?
    kind regards

    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and hence Oracle Linux 6 do no longer install a Graphical Desktop when doing a default server installation. If you want a Graphical Desktop you can customize the initial installation, or do it afterwards using the following command:
    <pre>
    yum groupinstall "X Window System" Desktop "General Purpose Desktop" \
    "Graphical Administration Tools" "Legacy X Window System compatibility"
    sed -i 's|id:3:initdefault:|id:5:initdefault:|g' /etc/inittab
    shutdown -r now
    </pre>
    However, keep in mind that you can generally run GUI applications using SSH with X forwarding or Tiger VNC without the need to install X Windows Server on the Linux server or running a Graphical Desktop.
    Unfortunately, the GUI version of system-config-network under EL 6 requires the Network Manager service, which you might not want to run on a server platform. Anyway, to use the connection editor GUI, the following should do:
    <pre>
    yum install NetworkManager-gnome
    service NetworkManager start
    chkconfig NetworkManager on
    nm-connection-editor
    </pre>
    Alternatively, simply edit the following files to configure your DNS, hostname and hosts file:
    <pre>
    /etc/sysconfig/network
    /etc/hosts
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
    /etc/resolv.conf
    service network restart
    </pre>

  • System-config-printer-gnome utility freezes when "adding" printer.

    I've just started adding my wireless printer to my desktop, and while reading about CUPS in the archwiki, I discovered "system-config-printer-gnome". I installed it with pacman, and then set it up like the wiki said. Now when I run system-config-printer and press "Add", I get this error output in my terminal:

    physdev = model.get_value (iter, 1)

    Does anyone know what could be wrong? I've done some Googling, but couldn't find anything related to this. I also couldn't find anything related to setting up a wireless printer manually with CUPS, so this way seemed the easiest way of adding a printer. Thanks
    P.S. I am using GNOME, and all my packages are up to date.

    skunktrader wrote:Did you try pointing your browser at http://localhost:631/admin and attempt to add your printer from there?
    Oh wow. That worked perfectly! I guess when I saw that in the wiki I assumed that it was for USB or parallel port printers since I saw "localhost". Sorry to waste thread space!
    Thanks so much guys!
    P.S. I feel like such a noob

    It's problematical that one can't communicate directly with Apple to resolve these problems

    4: That's because you downloaded an update for another model.
