  • GX660 System Control Manager problem(Brightness)

    Hi again
I have problem with my MSI GX660. I have Windows 8.1. Unfortunately System Control Managaer doesn't work for me.
Turbo, Volume and WIFI works, but I can't change brightness. I try change it in Windows 8 options but still doesn't work for me
Level on bar is change but on screen nothing happens
    please help me
    I have ATI drivers 14.1
PS. modes like ECO, Office, Movie etc. also doesn't work

The fact that MSI has no posted any drivers for the GX660 for Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, it means that it is not supported for updating to Windows 8 or 8.1. In that case, you're pretty much on your own as far as getting the system to work. We can attempt to give you suggestions, but without MSI providing any drivers, most likely SCM won't work.
The only thing I could suggest trying, might be to grab the SCM from the GX60 (one of the older revisions) for Windows 8 or 8.1 and hope that it works. *NOTE:This is just something I can suggest to try. I by no way take no responsibility for what it might do to your system, nor does MSI*

Turn off Windows update , follow this.
Also go through this thread, try the suggestion from HP Expert @Nuccii
To do System recovery, follow this - try System refresh instead of Factory reset so that data, files and settings would be preserved. Nevertheless always backup all your data to an extrenal hard drive before doing any sought of recovery.
System restore won't help if you've upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 & want to go back to 8.

  • Msi gt683dx vs system control manager WIN8 problem

Hi I have problem whit new version of System control manager (SCM) 10_013_03016 , when I go to control panel option in application it randomly active/deactive Bluetooth, it so annoying so I must to exit application...But can't see now icon when is something activate anymore ! And P1 option not working is this supported in WIN8 ? Help please . Thanks

    Hi,
I just bought used MSI GT683DX with Win 7 preinstalled on it. As i own 2x SSD disks and Windows 8 Pro licence from MSDNAA i've installed Windows 8.1 PRO, installed all drivers and utilities from MSI web support page, and i have same problem - when SCM is active, Bluetooth turns on and off automaticly just one by one, like 2 seconds and it is on, another 2 seconds and it is off, without touching it. When i uninstall SCM, WiFi and Bluetooth buttons work property, so it is not hardware-related problem, just software.
I've installed SCM from link you posted today, yesterday ive made BIOS update to .30Z, and did EC reset. Problem is still here. When i put original 500GB hdd with win7 on it installed from sticker on notebook, everything works fine.
Also, P1 button is not working, and i dont have P1 config when i press RMB on SCM...
Any other suggestions, links or what else should i do?

  • GX660 (i5) System Control Manager on XP 64 Bit

    Hi all,
I bought a GX660 last week but I don't want to use it with Windows 7 64 bit so I installed Windows xp 64 Bit.
After having struggled to find any drivers for this operating system (especially graphics drivers) everything works fine except the famous "System Control Manager" which is installed without yet worries.
Thus I can not use the "Turbo" or "Eco" on the multimedia keypad, same for some functions that engages with the combination of "Fn" key (only features WiFi, Bluetooth work).
I like to know if there is a possibility to find a trick, a hack, so that the "System Control Manager" runs completely under this operating system as Windows 7.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Ghunner.

    Thank Mark!!!
    So I did some tests:
    Under XP 32:
    P1 Work
    TouchPad Enable/Disable Work
    Webcam Enable/Disable Work
    Mode Sleep Work
    LCD Brightness Increase/Decrease Don't Work
    Eco Don't Work
    Turbo Work
    Volume Increase/Decrease Work
    Volume Mute Work
    Wirless LAN Work
    Bluetooth Work
    Cooler Boost Work
    Under XP 64:
P1 Don't Work (I got the message: "Not compatible with your OS")
    TouchPad Enable/Disable Work
    Webcam Enable/Disable Work
    Mode Sleep Work
    LCD Brightness Increase/Decrease Don't Work
    Eco Don't Work
    Turbo Work
    Volume Increase/Decrease Work
    Volume Mute Work
    Wirless LAN Work
    Bluetooth Work
    Cooler Boost Work
Now I need to know if the SCM v2.209.1204.006.01 (update 2010-01-26) is the last update for XP version or there is one that is newer?

  • System Control Manager on Mega 865 Pro

    Hi,
I Have a Mega 865 Pro, I would list whats in it but do not consider that any of this would help.
The system has the System Control Manager software installed which allows for you to use the buttons on the front of the system within Windows XP, if the software is not installed or running then one of the problems is when you use the CD eject key the system will restart.
The software runs normally on my account where I'm an admin.  However, if I have any other accounts running then the software will not run with the following message.
    MGSYSCTRL
    Detecting Model type failed!
You may not run this program correctly
Can anyone assist in making sure that I do not give my kids admin access under Windows XP?
    Thanks
    Rob

    Update.
This has now been resolved by performing the following.
1, Download the bios update using the link below, the MSI update utility never reconised that there was a newer version of the bios available.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=602&kind=4
This fixed the reboot issues when using the eject cdrom button!!
2, The System Control Manager cannot be used under a non admin account, this was corrected by performing the following.
export from mthe registry, and then delete:-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "MGSysCtrl"="C:\\Program Files\\MSI\\System Control Manager\\MGSysCtrl.exe"
    And Change to:-
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "MGSysCtrl"="C:\\Program Files\\MSI\\System Control Manager\\MGSysCtrl.exe"
Then run the new on the Admin account only.
Hope this helps some of you!
    Regards
    Rob

    Hi claire.winteringham,
If you have a 64 bit machine then there shouldn't be any problem while installing any 32-bit software.
Try to download it with the below mentioned link :

  • We have 2 versions of Portuguese in our application. The problem is only for Brazilian Portuguese and the other one is working just fine. Locale for portugese-brazil (pt-BR) is not working

We have 2 versions of Portuguese in our application. The problem is only for Brazilian Portuguese and the other one is working just fine.
Locale for portugese-brazil (pt-BR) is not working.

No. Something else is going on.
Your son may be hogging all the bandwidth but your wireless network should never simply disappear. Moreover, if your son isn't doing anything the available bandwidth for other devices should remain unaffected.
I suspect that something is miswired, and from what you describe I suspect that link is between the Extreme and the "other computer".
The way to accomplish what you propose is
Modem > Ethernet cable to Extreme's WAN port
Extreme's LAN ports > wired Ethernet devices.
There should be nothing but an Ethernet cable linking an Extreme LAN port and any other wired device. If you run out of available LAN ports on the Extreme, you need to by an "Ethernet switch" - they are not expensive, but don't call it a "splitter" or you will only confuse yourself. The switch would be connected to one of the Extreme's LAN ports, and you would connect additional devices to it. You can also use one of your Expresses for that purpose, assuming it is the current generation model with two Ethernet ports.

  • Help needed upgrading from Windows 8 to XP for Conexant Sound Driver

I upgraded from Windows 8 to XP and got everything else working except for the sound. I have scoured the internet and tried many versions of drivers from windows 7 ones to XP ones with no success. I tried older driver´s version as well.  After a reboot there is no sound device loaded in the control panel for sound. I have a C845D-SP4327SL  model laptop. Does anyone have any process to make this work that is proven? Thanks

hi. if you want to that your sound device was in control panel after a reboot , here is only one solution for that, all you have to do is upgrade first  hdaudio bus controler. Driver must be copied first from computer with Vista os. if your xp is 32bit you have to copy this driver from any Vista x32 if  your xp is 64 bit then Vista must be x64 as well.  driver for forced upgrade through device menager you will find in any vista os  Windows--> System32-->DriverStore-->FileRepository-->hdaudbus.inf9689af2f
once copied that file from any computer equiped with Windows Vista , copy it on your desktop, next step go to the device menager  and find in system device tab 2 entries UUA High definition audio and update both by forced update. You have to point exactly where is located your driver copied from vista. after this update your sound device will be in the control panel and device manager always and permanent.
I had the same problem with my xp instaled on satelite p500 and only this solution solved my problem with disappearing sound device after reboot.
ps. if this solution help you please tell us about it.

  • Lenovo Y570 problems after updating to Windows 10 from Windows 7

Hi everyone, I updated my operating system to Window 10 from Windows 7 four days ago and I am having a ton of problems. I lost a lot of my Lenovo interface options as well...  One of the worst and most annoying problems is that randomly, for half a second, the computer stops and thinks which freezes up my typing. If I am writing something, when it wants to freeze it prevents me from typing that letter. It basically overrides my keyboard well it does that freezing for half a second. Also, when I have a drop down menu it will close when this happens or when I right click, the menu will disappear when this "glitch" happens. One of the biggest clues I found is under the task manager. In the Processes tab, when this "glitch" happens "Windows Problem Reporting" pops up for a half second. I am not sure if that is causing this problem or if something goes wrong and "Windows Problem Reporting" pops up because of something else? Is there a way to check and see what these "Windows Problem Reporting" are? My other problems are that my fan control does not work anymore. I had the option to control the speed and the sound of my fan before updating to Windows 10. Would Lenovo or Windows 10 ever going to sent a drive to fix this problem? Also, I can not control my GPU switch anymore. Before the update I could change my GPU from Intel HD card to Geforce 555M. Now I have no idea what GPU I am using and how to go back and forth. Is there a fix for this? Since all these problems occurred with the Windows 10 update, would it be better for me to go back to Windows 7 and wait to see if Lenovo and Windows ever going to create drives for Lenovo Y570? Is it advisable to switch back W7 and switch back to W10 later?

  • How do I restore a Windows 8.1 system image if I upgraded from Windows 8?

I have a new HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC 15-j003cl.
It came with Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1.
I created the HP Recovery USB flash drive.
From my reading I understand that the recovery USB flash drive is Windows 8 not 8.1.
    My question is:
Can I restore a Windows 8.1 System Image Backup I made on a USB hard drive using the Windows 8 recovery USB flash drive?
Or, to put it another way, what is the recommended procedure to back up an upgraded Windows 8.1 computer so, in the event of hard-drive failure, I don't have to start with Windows 8, upgraded to 8.1, re-install all my apps?
    Thanks
    Kirk

OK here's where I am now and a few followup questions,
    Started with Windows 8.
Upgraded from Windows Store to Windows 8.1
Installed lots of apps and got everything running the way I like.
I created a full system image of my upgraded 8.1 hard drive to an external USB hard drive.
I have successfully created a recovery boot USB flash.  (did not copy recovery partition) I can restart the computer from
it and navigate up to the point where it will restore my system image made after I upgraded to 8.1.  (I don't want to risk
trying it for fear it will mess up my computer)
Assume my hard drive failed and I have a new blank hard drive:
My question is at this point does it matter that this was originally a windows 8 (not 8.1) computer?
Will I be able to restore the image of 8.1?
Does it matter which version of Windows I created the recovery boot USB flash on?  ( I can't tell when it boots from the
recovery USB flash if it is running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
I wish there was a way to test this without risking losing all the work I have done to configure the computer??
    Thanks,
    Kirk

  • Upgrade from Windows 7 pro to windows 8.1 pro I only get keep personal files only or nothing, I want to keep apps too

when trying to upgrade from windows 7 SP1 to 8.1 pro from the DVD while being in windows I only get an option to keep personal files only or keep nothing.
what do I have to do so I can do a upgrade and keep all the programs too ?
    thanks!
    Brandon Dillon

I think there might be a way that when you install win 8.1 on a system with existing windows it will copy the user profile to a spare partition and then format the C and the then install windows 8
If you do a rebuild on a Win 7 or Win 8 PC from a recovery partition, the software as standard now on the rebuild gives you the options of keeping your Data, even though it will wipe and reinstall everything as per factory settings.
So this is normal and to be expected.
To be honest I wouldn't even do this... I'd backup everything, install Win 8.1 from complete scratch, not keeping any data and then restore data as I needed it. I am apprehensive about it thinking it knows where all my data might be.... especially with how
some programs like to store stuff.
Of course this means everything to install again, but latest versions always good, a clean install

  • Problems connect to vpn since upgrading to Windows 8.1

Since upgrading from Windows 8.0 to 8.1, although normal web access is OK, I can no longer connect to vpn services - receiving error 619. Using another laptop running Windows 7 SP1 on the same router I can connect without any problems. Please help. I have
    limited technical knowledge with networking.

The instructions below are included on the site. These do not make sense in Windows 8.1. Right clicking on the 'vpn connection' does not give any additional pop up options (so no properties to change). I also cannot find any options to change the
'Security' settings as described. These instructions are for Windows 8.0, is 8.1 really that much different?
    "........Click on the
    monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner;
Right–click on the “VPNForUK.COM” connection, and choose “Properties” from the menu.
    Select “Security” tab and for “Type of VPN” select “Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)”;
    Click “OK”;
    Click again on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner, and click “Connect” to “VPNForUK.COM”;
