System copy and database refresh

Can any one nagotiate me about system refresh and databaswe refresh.

Hi,
System Copy means copying the contents of the system into another including data i,.e Table Data. It comprises entire user settings, data will be copied.
In the database refresh, table contents (data) are refreshed.

  • Difference between system copy and Remote Client copy?

    Hi,
Can any body suggest me , What are the major difference between System copy and Remote Client Copy.
As per my knowledge , Both are different
1.In system copy  entire data recovered mean copy from Source to target
2.In Remote client copy All  Client data can't me import if you choose SAP_ALL profile also
I hope Transaction data and user data can't copied
Anybody share this Question and Give me some idea about this
If anybody  give brief explanation that is very gratefull.
    regards,
    Balaram

    Hi,
System copy will replicate all database from source to target system.
In remote copy only client in which you are performing the copy will get refresh. Also, remote client copy will be done between systems on same patch level. with SAP_ALL profile you can bring all data in target system including your transactional data.
    Thanks

  • Difference between r/3 refresh and database refresh

    Dear guru's
what is the difference between system refresh and database refresh.........And what is the process of both....... please give me end to end nogotiate............

    Hi Raj,
Database refresh, I believe is one of the ways you could refresh your SAP systems.
E.g Oracle database specific refresh is one of the ways. In this, I think you would export, move and then import cold backup of the database.
Easiest way to get more information is to search for the System refresh (or System copy) master guide from Market place or help.sap.com.

  • What is the exact difference between Database Cloning and Database Refresh?

    Hi,
Can anybody tel me the exact difference between Database Cloning and Database Refresh?
I Have some conflicts in these topics.
    Thanks
    Rajesh

Refresh is what it says, "refresh" . You have a main site which would always have the data being inserted into it. There would be another site which would remain some where else . This site needs to be refreshed with the primary site. So you need to do export from the primary, push it to the secondary site and done!

  • Differene between system copy and system refresh

    Hi all
can you please tell me the difference among SYSTEM COPY,SYSTEM REFRESH and DB REFRESH

I would consider them all the same. Maybe a "refresh" could be stated as "I restore a backup onto an already installed system" where as system copy means "I install a new system with a backup of another one" but mainly they all mean the same.

  • RSA1 infosources under wrong SID after system copy and BDLS has run

Hi – we are a BW3.5 SP#21 system on 10202 and hpux 11.23 (ia64).  We have an R/3 system connected to the BW system for extracts.  Extracts work fine in the productive environment.  So 1 production BW system, and 1 production R/3 system.  We also have sandbox copies of each made from database copies recently.  The environment is as follows:
sid     client     current logical system name     original logical system name after "copy"     system role
    BW1     100     FINPBW1100     --     Productive BW system
    LH1     100     FINPLH1100     --     Productive R/3 system
    LHU     100     FINPLHU100     FINPBW1100     sandbox BW system
    LHI     100     FINPLHI100     FINPLH1100     sandbox R/3 system
LHU is a copy of BW1.  LHI is a copy of LH1.  There is only 1 working client in all systems.
We recently did the copies, creating the LHU/LHI systems.  we've completed our "post refresh" checklist on LHU/LHI, including the BDLS work.
BDLS was ran as follows on LHU/100:
    >> convert FINPBW1100  FINPLHU100
    >> convert FINPLH1100  FINPLHI100
BDLS was ran as follows on LHI/100:
    >> convert FINPBW1100  FINPLHU100
    >> convert FINPLH1100  FINPLHI100
In RSA1 on sandbox LHU/100, in the "source system" area, the source systems to the sandbox R/3 system LHI/100 tests out ok if you do the check connection and the technical name for the sm59 it points to is correct.
If I check the RSA1 --> Infosources though, and search for ‘LHI’….it doesn't find all the "expected" infosources/infopackages.
If instead I search for ‘LH1’ it finds the whole list of "expected" infosources/infopackages.  But the R/3 system i'm trying to do extracts from is called "LHI" not "LH1".
    QUESTION:
does anyone know what needs to happen to “convert” what we see in RSA1 --> Infosources when searching for ‘LH1’ to infosources that we can use which point to ‘LHI’ – it looks like all the data is there in RSA1 -->infosources, it just is under the wrong sid….thanks in advance

    Hi Ben,
Sorry to hear that my suggestion did not help.  We will have to see what the other experts say!
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/bff13df2-0c01-0010-6ba7-bc50346a6fd8
That link is to the document that I followed when setting up a BWQ system new, and we didn't encounter the same problem that you are experiencing.  We are also BW 3.5.
I started on Page 17 which is where Section 3.7 starts.
Hopefully that might help, although that may have been what you were following.

  • System Copy  and Logical system name conversion

    Hello All,
Can any one let me know some inputs over these few queries.
    1. How much time would a 500+GB clients take for Export and reimport after the system copy.
    2. What would be run time of the BDLSS report ( Converting the logical system names) for a typical 1500 GB QTY system
The requirement is my QTY has 3 clients, and i would like to refresh it with my PRD data. How do i safely perform thia activity with the least downtine possible and please note, the clients are around 500+ GB huge..
Thanks in advance for your inputs.

  • SQL 2005 and Database Refreshes

We have 2 NW2004S systems both with ABAP+Java. When we copy one database over from one system (A) to another (B), we've noticed that the schema attached to all of the tables in on the B system are now A.
Using the SQL Tools application from SAP, we were able to fix the ABAP tables, but are unsure as to how to convert Java Tables from A back to B. As a result of this database copy, the Java instance (including configtool) won't start.
Re-installing the Java DB instance did correct the DB schema error, and configtool did run as a result, although the Java CI failed to load.
    Any suggestions?

Try to use the script below.
The last line is the script is what you need to change with appropriate database IDs. Look for <tags> to replace appropriately.
Also ensure you create the user SAP<NEWDB>DB already in the database. (specifically in Management->Security ... you know what I mean !!??)

My QAS system is the transport domain controller i.e. it hosts the transport directory /usr/sap/trans

what happens to the CUA configurations in my 3 tier system landscape after I overwrite QAS ? I will make a note of all the RFC's & thier configuration details just incase I need to recreate them

  • Homogeous system copy for machine refreshment

    Hello SAP expert,
I'd like to migrate our sap system() from power5 to power7, and  the host name and the ip address will be kept unchanged on the power7 machine.  We want to use homogeous system copy for  db6 to migrate the sap system for testing. And after the testing, we want to just use db2 backup/restore to replace the database without system copy again. I know there are several steps in sapinst after db restore when I do a system copy, but the hostname, ip and user are unchanged, so  I think there is no need to do a system copy again. Could someone help confirm that?
And we also want to seperate DB instance and CI to different machine, can we just do a db backup/restore for this case too? And I am not sure if some information about CI and diaglog instance is recorded, if so, I just concern there is some inconsistency if I just replace the database instead of do a homogeous system copy again.

    Hi Sunny,
Is those report very key? The ip, hostname, system user will keep unchanged and only the machine will be changed from AIX5 to AIX6, so after I do a whole homogeous system copy for the first time and all sap related files are already moved to the new machine, so the next time I want to restore the db with the backup taken on AIX5 to new machine directly without reinstall sap system, it will reserve some time and reduce the effort. Do you think if there is any problem if I do this? Thanks.

  • System copy and upgrade questions

    dear gurus
    i have one production box
    R/3 version 4.6c
    kernel 4.6D sp 1913
    DB version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0
    OS version Solaris 9
    1st QUESTION
if i want to do system copy to new box
    with
    R/3 version 4.6c
    kernel 4.6D sp 1913
    DB version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0
OS version Solaris 10 (changed from solaris 9 to 10)
do i need to do homogenous system copy or heterogenous ?
is there any issues between 4.6c and solaris 10 ?
    2nd question
if 1st question above is not possible, I want to do homogenous system copy with
    R/3 version 4.6c
    kernel 4.6D sp 1913
    DB version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0
    OS version Solaris 9
after that i will upgrade Oracle to 10 and SAP to ECC 6, is it possible to use ECC6 and Solaris 9 ? or do I need to upgrade to Solaris 10 ?
    thanks

Hi AC thanks for your reply, anyway from other forum I got the answer already. please see quote below
but anyway i have another plan b that I need to ask.. just in case the new box is installed with Solaris 10
can you please let me know what is the best approach to do the upgrade, please if possible follow my approach in quote below
    i have one production box
    R/3 version 4.6c 64-bit
    kernel 4.6D sp 1913
    DB version Oracle 8.1.7.4.0 64-bit
    OS version Solaris 9 64-bit
    activities in new box
    install Solaris 9 64-bit + patches
    install Oracle 8.1.7.4.0 64-bit + patches
install R/3 version 4.6c 64-bit (with DB Load from dump from system copy, there is another option to move data file only)
update kernel to latest 4.6d before installing DB instance
upgrade Oracle 2 steps two Oracle 10 + patches
update kernel to 4.6dEX2 (in order to run with Oracle 10)
    start SAP
upgrade to ECC6 sr2 + patches (sr2 because we dont want unicode, sr3 installation must be unicode)

  • System Copy and SOLMAN Key

    Hi Gurus,
I just need clarification on this. I plan to build a new system using system copy menthod. Would I require a Key from Solution Manager for this new installation?
    Appreciate your feedback.
    Thanks,
    SS

    Hi
You'll need to install new license key after the system copy.
You must first delete all old licenses in tcode SAPLICENSE, then, request a new license at http://service.sap.com/licensekey
to do this you will also need a a new hardware key which helps in creating a new license key...
make sure you delete the system in the service market place and  create a new system with the hardware key you get and then request the license.

  • System Copy and Rapid Installer

    Hi,
We have installed EP6.0 SPS13 using Rapid installer 2.5 and now we want to 'system-copy' this.  The system copy installation guide talks about getting the required DVDs ready. There is only two DVDs in RI2.5. Is it possible to system - copy a RI installation?
    Thanks
    Raj Balakrishnan

    Hi Raj,
interesting question. In fact, the RI base /is/ a system copy itself. Anyhow, I would expect this to work, too.
Have you just tried it meanwhile? Any results?
    Best regards
    Detlev
