I'm unable to find system copy guide for ECC 6.0, there are lots of guides present for NW Systems on the SMP, couldn't find any thing for ECC6.0 ABAP Stack.

LDAP Configuration for ECC 6.0 ( ABAP Stack only)

Can any one guide me with the steps for the LDAP Configuration for ECC 6.0 ( Abap stack only).
Some of my observations are....
I can see the LDAP Support in the Installation master at the following path.
1. Additional Software Life cycle Tasks --> Application Server --> LDAP Support.
But the prerequisites for this task is given as "You must have extended the LDAP schema for the sap data types before.".
When i am goint thru service market place i came across the following note.
Note 888848 - Notes on schema enhancement with RSLDAPSCHEMAEXT.

System copy guide for Solution Manager 7.0 SPS15

Hello,
a new hardware is needed for our SAP Solution Manager 7.0 SPS 15. I will install a new SAP Solution Manager and do a system copy from the old hardware to the new one. There is no migration neccessary, because OS and DB will be the same.
Now I'm searching for some informations and guides to do a system copy of a SAP Solution Manager. All I found was a system copy guide of Netweaver 04s SR3/SR2 with informations about Java Usage Types but not for Diagnostics.
Are there any guides or howtos to do a system copy with SAP Solution Manager ABAP+JAVA? Does anyone have experiences and advices?

Homogenous System Copy - 1.8Tb ECC 6.0 - ABAP - avoid tape?

We've been performing homogenous system copies for the past 10 years with much success.
When we've had the disk space available, have been able to SAVLIB R3<SID>DATA to *SAVF & then restore from the *SAVF
Avoiding the use of our LTO3 tape for both the BACKUP & RESTORE PORTION cuts hours off the process.
Now with the R3<SID>DATA library hitting about 1.8Tb, the *SAVF hits the maximum size allowable of 1TB and we can no longer use that method.
Has anyone come up with a creative way to do this without tape?
We have an ECC 6.0 upgrade go-live for May'08 and will need to refresh the training <SID> (fully copy of PRD) weekly
The toolset capabilities in a SAN environment on other unmentioned platforms are much more robust where this can be achieved in minutes vs. 10 hrs (or more for both the backup & restore).

Here are the basic commands for setting up virtual tape through 5250 emulation:
1. To create a virtual tape device:
CRTDEVTAP DEVD(TAPVRT01) RSRCNAME(*VRT)
2. To vary on the virtual tape device:
VRYCFG CFGOBJ(TAPVRT01) CFGTYPE(DEV) STATUS(ON)
3. To create a virtual tape image catalog:
CRTIMGCLG IMGCLG(backup) DIR('/images/tape/backup') TYPE(TAP) CRTDIR(YES)
4. To create virtual images in the image catalog:
ADDIMGCLGE IMGCLG(BACKUP) FROMFILE(*NEW) TOFILE(VOL001) VOLNAM(VOL001)
Repeat for as many volumes as needed.
5. To load the image catalog on to the virtual device:
LODIMGCLG IMGCLG(backup) DEV(TAPVRT01)
The virtual tape storage is ready for operation:
TAPVRT01 is used as the device (DEV) parameter.

AIX/Oracle system copy guide

Hi Experts,
I am preparing a system refresh (system copy) from production to test system via DB backup and restore.The two systems are on different AIX servers. The systems are running on SAP enterprise 6.20 on Oracle 9.2 and AIX.
I can only find the system copy guide for using R3load "Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP® Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server 6.20"

System Copy Guide: Exporting the Source System Using SAPinst.

Hi Gurus,
I am trying to do Unicode conversion of ERP 2005 SR3 on Oracle/WS2003
The preparation steps are OK
When I execute the last Phase using Sapinst : "database instance export",
it finishes within one minute with the message "Database instance export has been completed succesfully"
but without exporting data.
I have follow up Unicode Conversion Guide and System Copy Guide System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 ABAP+Java.
What could be wrong here?

for the linux operating system and oracle database. or atleast , I want to know what are the mimimum checks to be done (prerequisities) in the ECC 5.0 system which need to upgrade into ECC6.0.

System copy from PRD to QAS based ABAP system EHP4.

Hi,
All pre-requisite is there in system copy guide.Apart from that take user master backup of quality system and after system copy, import the user master data back so that you have same users in quality system.
Also, take RFC's backup also.

hello,
Before anything update DB shared lib, R3load, R3ldctl and R3szchk in the target system. Also Check in source system if you have any tables o index missing in db02 transaction, If this system wa upgraded from a previous release please check TAORA and IAORA tables in source system and check all the tablespaces named in those tables are created in the target system.

System copy tools for SAP Basis 46C.

Hi All,
I need to do system copy for SAP Basis 46c. I have a query regarding the tools used for system copy. It is written in the SAP Documents and we need to use the latest version of the system copy tools (i.e. R3load,R3check,R3ldctl,,R3szchk,R3trans).
I need to do the Heterogeneouse system copy
Source :- Oracle 9.2.0.8 , AIX 5.3
Target :- Oralce 9.2.0.8 (Or 10.2.0.4 if possible) , Sun Solaris
So my question is
1) Am i suppose to use only the tools (i.e. R3load,R3check,R3ldctl,,R3szchk,R3trans) which are compatible to relase 4.6C (Kernel 46D_EXT, latest path level is 2541) or
2) Can i download and use the Latest version of system copy tools (i.e. Withe release 7.00 for R3load,R3check,R3ldctl,,R3szchk,R3trans) to do the herogeneous system copy of SAP Basis 4.6C ??

You can use it of course but support of it is not "built in" - there's no clicker to check as is in newer versions of sapinst. You will need to modify the R3S file at the "correct place" to make use of it.

As I said before and as is written in the documentation, it can be used but not "by default", you'll make sure you stop at the right place with your migration to configure it manually (or the consultant will do).

Does anyone know what is the easiest method of system copy for BusinessObjects BI Enterprise XI 3.0 (Windows)?
Will a blank copy through Window's backup/restore work?

Hi,
the easiest way would be:
- extracting all content from the existing 3.0 to a biar file
- install the new server os
- install all BO componentes on the new server
- import the biar file
You cant make something like an image from the existing server and then put it back on a new one. You have to rename the Server and than you will get problems with your BO installation. You can avoid this by re- deploying the WAR Files and updating the Repository Objects in the CMS.
But the above mentiones solution will be faster.

SMSY for ERP JAVA and ABAP Stack

Hi Folks - I have installed SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5 in one database called T12. Now there is a need for a Java stack and I have installed the Java stack in another database called J12.
I was able to define the ABAP stack on system landscape and MOPZ is working fine. However, I am not sure how I should go about the Java (J12) instance definidstion on SMSY.
I am using Somlam 7.1 on Oracle Linux system.
ABAP stack is on ERL 6.0 EHP5 and Java stack is Netweaver 7.0 EHP2.
J12 and T12 systems are connected via JCO.
SLD has been defined for both stacks and they are using the local SLD for the SolMan.
Your help is much appriciated.

Sunny - I checked the SLD and It is working fine. There were couple of issues that I fixed. Since I defined the Java system manually I delete it. Hopefully SLD will populate the definition.
In same note, Would it be possible that installing ERP java and ABAP stack on different hosts (stand alone) is causing this issue, especially they are using different Sid's?
I was reading SAP Note 1344564, It states
III.Some Main Instances include other Main Instances (E.g., in SAP
ERP 6.0, Main Instance SAP NW - Enterprise Portal includes SAP NW -
EP Core.). If the including Main Instance is installed, it's not
necessary to mark the included Main Instance(s) for relevance.
Is this mean in SMSY I do not have to define any product for the Java engine? When installing the Java, I had to create the product manually to be able to generate the installation key.
