System Copy - Homogenous and Heterogeneous

Hi All Experts,
Could one of you, please explain me the steps how to performed Homogenous,
Heterogeneous, Client copy and System copy. Please help.
Thanks,
Frank.

Hi Frank,
For client copy there are two types one is Local client copy which is with the system and Remote client copy which is copy of client from one system to another system.
Local client copy :
     1. scc4 .. entry for new client
     2. logon to the new entered client with SAP* password: pass
     3. sccl ..select source client and target would the one u logged in currently.
     4. Set the parallel processes ( depends on u r cpu) normally 6 -16
     5. Start in dialog
     6. check the logs in SCC3 .
Remote client copy:
1. Scc4 entry for the client.
  2. SCC8 RFC maintain .. folow the screens
  3. Scc3
System Copy:
1. Take the offline backup of the source system and the control file.
2. Restore the backup on the target system.
3. change the control file path.
4. change in the control file where this RESET to SET
5. Startup database in mount state.
6. Run the control file.
7. open the database with command : alter database open resetlogs;
8.All Done !!!
I hope its helpfull ..

  • Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy

    Hello Guru's
    Greeting ! . .  .
I wanted some help regarding Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy.
It would be helpful if you can guide me for an Step by Step procedure  for Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System copy. As i have to carry out both of the activity.
    Homogeneous:- AIX5.3/Oracle10 to AIX5.3/Oracle10
    Heterogeneous:- AIX5.3/Oracle10 to Windows2003/Oracle10
    Thanks & Best Regards
    Ashish

    Hello Ashish,
You can find the guides here in this location.
    https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/systemcopy
If you have complete backup then you start you SAPInst on the system on which you want to have systemcopied.
Then when you are starting DB instance then instead of using the Export DVD you need provide the Database which is backed up. There are screens where it will ask you for editing SID you need to specify that during DB instance.
For further processes you can download the corressponding guide from above link.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vivek

  • System Copy Homogeneous

    Dear Gurus!
I'm executing a "System Copy Homogeneous" with the CD51020587 in i570 server V5R3M0 operation system.
But the instance profile can't created and when I've created manually, this shows message:
"El desplazamiento de espacio X'00000000' o X'000000022E002040' está fuera
del límite actual para el objeto QPADEV0002QSECOFR 003702.
Error de aplicación. MCH0601 no supervisado por QC2POSIX en la sentencia
    0000000011, instrucción X'0000'.
    Thank you for your help
    Best Regards

    Hi Luis,
I don't know, if it is really not possible to use this CD (it is not v5r3 certified), but at least you could use the "manual approach" of the system copy as described e.g. in:
    http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/SAPoniSeries/files/
    Database Copy as of 46B.htm
    or
    Delete&Rebuild_TST_SID_from P01.doc

The above error are also present in the other Process log files.
But when i saw the installation logs of the Source system the same errors are also there(but it was still Sucessfull Standard installation).
there is one difference as well I am SQL SP3 (8.00.780) but existing Production server is SQL SP3(8.00.929).
My installation is stoppoing here with error While executing Script.
I've done Homogenous copy on WiN-ORACLE many times but on WIN-SQL i am doing very first time.
While installation database phase it asked me for EXPORT CD twice first time for standard(which usually we got with SAP Software) and Second time for Migration EXPORT. that is different from ECC5.0 i think.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Vinay

  • SAP Migration checklist (Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Migration)

    Hi Gurus,
Do you have any links that will direct me regarding the topic above? I just need to know if there are some considerations or checklist that are being followed particulary on the infrastructure side?
Appreciate your quick help on this matter.

    Hi,
Have you checked the system copy guide as all the details mentioned there ?
    Thanks

  • System copy (backend and/or SRM)

    Hi
we have more than one backend connected to SRM. Sometimes our Q-system is copied (refreshed) from the productive system. If we do a alligned copy (all systems SRM and ERPs) the new Q-landscape is of course fine.
In future, we'd like to decouple the system refreshments. Meaning: only one backend will be refreshed without SRM, or only SRM will be refreshed without the backends.
Does anybody have experienc with that? What do you do to reconstruct testable data (mainly POs) in both cases?
Info: We're using the extended classic scenario.
    br,
    Richard

my understanding is that you need to copy the connected system ( ECC) along with SRM. If only one system is refreshed, then the material master replication and other similar configuration whcih are based on GUIDs may not work properly. I have never tried /worked on system whcih are refreshed the way you have mentioned.
Pl let me know your views.
    Thanks

  • System Copy of XI 6.40 ABAP+JAVA

    Hi
In our XI landscape, we have XI development server and XI production server. We would like to create the
XI Quality instance for testing. Also we want to refresh XI devepolment server from XI production server.
Here XI 3.00 is installed on Unix platform with Oracle 10g database (SAP WebAS 6.40).
Pls let me know the following:
    1. Can i create the XI quality server with System copy option from XI production server? or do i have
to create XI quality server with the new installation? What would be the best option?
    2. I 'm not able to get the system copy process of SAP Web AS 6.40 for XI. Pls forward me system copy
document or send me SAP link for the same. I have the System Copy document for system based   on SAP NW 2004s SR1 ABAP+ JAVA. Can i use this document?
    Thanks
    Amar

    Hello,
the System Copy document for system based on SAP NW 2004s SR1 ABAP+ JAVA is he wrong version for your system since it is based on 640 aka NW 2004. The "s" is very essetial.
A System Copy is possible in XI 3.0 (=640) as long as your NW SP is at least SP 14.
For more details please check the SAP Note 971645.
for your conveniance I copied from this note the most importend additional link :
You find the current version of the Java system copy guide on
    SAP Service Marketplace at:
    http://service.sap.com/instguidesNW04   > Installation   > SAP Web AS
      > SAP Web AS 6.40 SR1 and Related Documentation
      > Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy
      > Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP Systems based on
SAP Web AS Java 6.40 Patch Collection
Please read both, SAP Note and SAP Documentation for the intended copy.

  • System Copy from ABAP Stack to ABAP+Java Stack

    Hi,
Is it possible to system copy (homogeneous or heterogeneous) from a system based on ABAP Stack to a system based on ABAP+Java Stack? Is it the normal system copy procedure or something aditional is required to do. Pl. advise. Thanks
    regards
Edited by: Abdus Samad on Oct 24, 2008 8:13 AM

It depends on what you want to copy, a system copy will always wipe out the existing target. But if you want to only copy data, you might be able to do a client copy. You can start with this SAP note: [552711 - FAQ: Client copy|https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=552711]

  • Restore of PRD to QAS using homogeneous system copy

    Hi All,
My current production system is SAP 4.7 Enterprise Ext 110 with 6.40 kernel on Oracle 10.2.0.2.
Operating sytem is RHEL 4.0 .
I am building my QAS system using these installation guides
"SAP Web Applcation Server ABAP 6.40  SR 1 on Linux: Oracle" and "Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server ABAP 6.40 SR1".
I was able to generate the CONTROL.SQL, CONTROL.TRC and initQAS.ora files using the OraBRCopy tool.
Also successfully restored the PRD database minus the control files using
    brrestore -d disk -b <backlog-file>.afd -m all
Wasn't able to do it via BRTools 7.0.
Database is coming up fine after running the CONTROL.SQL script.
However when I try to connect to the database as qasadm user with R3trans -d , I am getting this error.
    This is R3trans version 6.13 (release 640 - 07.01.08 - 14:25:00).
    2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = ORACLE                           --- dbs_ora_tnsname = 'QAS'"
    R3trans finished (0012).
When I look at the dba_users table I am still seeing references still to PRD, and log below indicates an invalid username/password.
Here are the contents of the trans.log

    Hi All,
Problem was solved by re-installing QAS using same SCHEMA ID as PRD, applying BRTools Release 700  patch level 33 and letting sapint perform the steps to completion
Markus your help directed me to the solution.

  • Homogeneous System Copy - Help me

    Hi,
I need to refresh the Training environment with the QAS environment data then I did the client copy from QRP(QAS environment) to TRN (training environment). This copy was made successfully, but with some data inconsistences.
And then a decided to do a Homogeneous System Copy.
I did the HSC selecting the option "Standard System Copy/Migration (R3Load-Based) " but exist the another option "System Copy / Oracle Backup/Restore".
And my doubt is: the process that I need to do is the Standard System Copy / Migration (R3Load-Based) or System Copy / Oracle Backup/Restore?
And the inverse process (import), can I to install just a Database Instance, once that a Central Instance already exists?!
    Thanks and Regards,
    Dany Anderson

Hii the process you need to do is system copy . In system copy there are two ways one by using R3load tool and other is backup method. Generally the backup method is faster where all your database will be backedup and copied to the target system. R3load and oracle backup are just two methods of doing system copy.
homogeneous system copy if your target system is on the same operating system and database system as your source system. The database contents are copied from the source system to the target system.
You perform a heterogeneous system copy if you want to change the operating system or database system. Migration is another term for a heterogeneous system copy.

  • Homogeneous System Copy on VMWare

We are executing a Homegeneous System Copy of (based on the+ Homogeneous and Heterogeneous system Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40 Patch Collection+ Installation Guide) on windows 2003 server, following the Oracle 9.1 patch 4 especific procedure.
Tha SAPints export in the source system and import in the target system  finisihes successfully. But the J2EE instance doesn´t work,  apparently there is no dispatcher.
At first, we thought that we miss a step on the system copy installation, but after 5 unsuccessfully  installations we are looking around ...and this question arises;  we are working in a virtualized environment with VMWare ¿does it affects?  ¿does it has something to do?
help woul be great and awarded

    Hi,
I did not have success with backup and restore, so I used java dump.
Maybe you got a wrong password somewhere, but I doubt because you install is sucessful.
Important steps I had to do :
Update jdbc drivers for oracle. Changed database settings for autostart with os.
Copied FSDB folders, shared them. Modified autorisations on oracle and fsdb folders.
Verify ume connection (active directory) : No ume, j2ee crash.

  • ECC - homogeneous system copy

    Hi,
I'm planning an homogeneous system copy to refresh the QA system with the PRD database (ECC/ERP).
Both systems are based on OS/400 and DB2 database.
Where can I find instructions to do this copy?
    thanks

  • Archiving and system copy

    Hello experts,
Is the below scenario possible ?
Can we access archived  production data from quality system ?
through system copy (homogeneous), quality is holding the  production data .
Archiving is going on in production.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hello,
Yes it is possible to display the archived document from quality SAP sys pointing to production Archive server via content repo & your desktop viewer (register key) should be pointed to production archive server.
    Caution:
You should also understand the security breach...
If you are displaying attachments/images from optical view Or from Service object then mind deletion button. Most of your development team will have access to delete it... meaning which chances of deleting the attachments/images from the production archive server will be more........ once deleted then from production SAP sys also you are not able to display (again based on security in prod archive server).
Think of this and take a call.
    -Thanks,
    Ajay
