System copy of GTS - Productive to Test - How to ?

Dear all,
We are planning a copy of our SAP sytems from productive to test. We did this already several times including ERP, BW and CRM systems. Now for the first time GTS is involved, too. Is there any special information available on how to do this for GTS 8.0?
I know that information about ERP - Logical System is included in customs document data (/SAPSLL/CUHD_0251_S-ORGLOGSYS) and suppose that this has to be changed to Logical System ID of the ERP test system after the copy.
Any information regarding this topic would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Ulrich

Hello Dave,
Thank you for your feedback!
Concerning Logical System I already talked to our basis guys. They will use trx BDLS to convert it during copy/refresh process.
Concerning Logical System Group I think we are safe as we are using the same Logical System Groups (GRPERP for ERP system + GRPGTS for GTS system) across our system landscape for Dev, Test and Prod. After system copy we just need to check/change the grouping table /SAPSLL/TCOGVA itself for correct entries.
Thanks again and regards,
Ulrich

  • System Copy of our Production Server using orabrcopy method.

    Hi
We are planning to do a System Copy of our Production Server using orabrcopy method.
But as the Production Server Java Version is below 1.4.1, Orabrcopy could not be executed.
As per the planned downtime of the Production Server, we have copied all the database offline. ( say 9th of August)
but we could not create the control , trace, init<sid>.ora files using ORABRCOPY.. during offline database copy.
Now the system is up and running.. We havent created the files yet.
    I have 2 questions..
    1. Is there any other method so that we can create the control , trace, and init<sid>.ora files.
    2. If we create the control trace files now ( 13th of August ) can we use the offline backup that we took on (9th of August) to perform a System Copy..
    Need your addvice..
    Thanks and Regards
    Paguras

Basically, orabrcopy does (aside from other things) an
    alter database backup controlfile to trace;
You can enter that manually (anytime) and use the resulting .trc file in saptrace directory as a base for control.sql, however, in this case you need to "know" what you're doing. ORABRCOPY is a "nice frontend" for this because it uses the same statement to create CONTROL.SQL, it just edits it appropriately which you will need to do manually.

  • Copy data between productive and test system

    Hi everybody,
I need to copy data from one cube in productive system into the same cube in the test system.
    How can I do it?
    Regards
    Erwin

If you need to copy data from one system to another maybe you can do a Data Refresh or a SAP_DATA System Copy.
If you wan't only to copy data from 1 Cube to another in other system you shoul'd try transforming the data on the Cube to a Report or maybe an ODS and then dowload it to a CVS archive, and then make a Transformation From PC_FILE to ODS and Cube o from PC_FILE to Cube.
    Hope it's work.

  • Copying jobs from production to test server

    Hello,
there are some jobs that are run at particular time in the productive system, the same jobs are not available in the test system.
can someone tell me, how can i copy these jobs from productive to test system.
    thanks
    Arun

    Hi,
I dont think SAP has provided any feature to copy job.
Check the details of job scheduled in prodution & goto SM36 in Test system to create your own job with same details.

  • Database refresh from production to test -how to clean existing test env

    All,
    My environment is
Both Production and Test databases are in two node RAC environment
    Oracle version - 10.2.0.4.0
    OS - RHEL5
    Production database size 80GB
We need to refresh the test environment from production database. Complete objects, data etc should be refreshed.
We have a datapump export from production environment. With this export dump from production environment, I need to import into test environment.
So far, I have imported with this kind of dump to the fresh database only.
Now, we have already objects, data sitting in the test environment. How to clean the existing test environment and refresh the production datapump export dump.
I thought of dropping all the tablespaces in test (other than system, sysaux, undo and temp). But not able to drop few tablespaces, it is telling that index is available in other tablespaces, dependency errors etc.
Which is the best method to clean the existing test database. Management is not interested in dropping the test database and recreating it.

I understand that you are Newbie , let give me simple steps.
Follow the steps on testing envi.
    1. Drop only Application users that you want to refresh from Prod(Do NOT drop users system,sysaux.. or tablespaces)
    2. Create the users that you dropped.
    3. using import or import data pump import the data.
In case you want to import user"A" data to "B" use REMAP_SCHEMA option.
See the below link for data pump export/import with examples.

  • How to stop jobs after a system copy

    Hi All,
After doing a system copy from the Production system to some test system, all the jobs that are supposed to be triggered in the production server will also trigger in the test system which is not good.
For example, If we have a payroll running every month. After i do a system copy the same payroll will also be triggered in the test server which is un acceptable.
How do we go about it and what are all the steps that we need to follow after a system copy?
    Points will be rewarded.
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Hello Vijay,
you surely need background processes in a running system.
But you can start a SAP system without any background processes.
When the system is up you go to sm37 and delete (or de-release) all the jobs you don't need in the target system. Then set the number of batch processes to the amount you want and restart the system.
Alternatively you can prepare your source system accordingly with the SAP System Copy Guide - Section 3.2 Technical Preparations:
"Set all released jobs from Released to Scheduled:
Tools -> CCMS -> Background Processing -> Jobs - Overview and Administration (transaction SM37)
You also need to do this for jobs that must run periodically (see SAP Note 16083).
Select all jobs (include start after event) as follows:
    Job -> Released -> Scheduled"
I think the best way for you is to read this guide!
Everything is explained very well there.
    Goto:
    https://service.sap.com/systemcopy
    In the left tree select:
    -> SAP Netweaver
    -> SAP Netweaver in Detail
    -> Software Life-Cycle Management
    -> System Copy & Migration
    -> Media Library
There are all the Guides for the current releases.

  • After system copy (ccm), how to change logsys in catalog items?

    Hello all
We're still on ccm 2.0 sp03 and did a system copy of our production ccm system to our test ccm system. But the catalog items still refer to the production logical system being the production R/3 system.
How can we change the logical system of catalog items without having to delete / rebuild our catalogs from scratch in our test system?
Using transaction BDLS or BDLSS does not work.
    TIA

  • How to perform system copy using standard sap method (sapinst)

    Hi guys
pls tel how to perform system copy using standard sap method (sapinst) and to perform enterprise portal RESTORSTION.
    thanks
    kamal

    Hi Kamal,
I have done a system copy of the production portal to a sandpit system before. The system copy export import method works very well, and is easy. For my portal, the whole procedure took me less than 6 hours.
    1. Go to this page: System Copy and Migration
    2. See the videos "Demo: How to Perform a System Copy Export" and "Demo: How to Perform a System Copy Import".
This should give you the basic idea.
I did a systemcopy using sapinst. If I remember right, this is the steps I performed:
    1. On target host, Installed a new Central services.
    2. On source host: Ran sapinst system copy export for Central Instance and Database instance. This created two export files (depending on your database size).
    3. Used the export files created in previous step to run the import step in target host.
    4. Some post processing steps, like configuring sso, creating systems in system landscapes, configuring WD JCos etc.
Let me know if you need more help.
    Cheers

    Hi All,
I am planning to do Homogeneous System copy of our production system to New Test system which SID is different from production system. I don't want to do system copy through SAPinst(R3load) because I cannot down our production server. I want to create the New test system from the offline back.
I have already installed our new system. I want  to do system copy through Oracle-Specific Procedure as mentioned in the system copy documents.
Could you please tell me how to do sytem copy step by step and how to change the SID.
    Thanks in advance.

  • System Copy - Copy parameters afterwards

    Hi
After doing a system copy from our Production system to our QA system, I now have the PROD parameters in QA.
How do I copy and rename these to QA.
Do I need to copy the files at the OS level and rename them.  Then import them into SAP from RZ10.
    Many thanks,
    Marie

Go to RZ10 and delete the production profiles and save it. Then based on current instances-> generate. The QA ones will be generated automatically if they were not moved.
You copied just the databse over right? the filesystems were not touched right?
also, go to rz04-> instances/operation modes and delete prod instance, save and then generate new one again and save.
You also have to dop the ops$adm user from production at database level and create QA one.
let me know of u need anything else.

  • After system copy

    Hello
I have connected my Productive BW 7 system with a 3rd party DB.
After the basis perform a system copy from Productive BW to Quality BW are there
any after copy activities to refresh also the connections and the datasources for this connection to point to the
    3rd party quality DB?
I mean for ABAP system we can perform through transaction bdls etc. some after copy activities.
Are there similar activities between BW and DB connect systems.
    Thank in advance..

    Hi,
Yes ofcourse, you need to check all settinfs, once you copy teh system you are going loose all RFC's and Source and Destinations ectc, so adject all that settings.
    See the following  SAP Notes:

  • Reducing time required for ABAP-only copyback (system copy) process

Our company is investigating how to reduce the amount of time it takes to perform a copyback (system copy) from a production ABAP system to a QA system.  We use a similar process for all ABAP-only systems in our landscape, ranging from 3.1h systems to ECC6.0 ABAP-only systems on both DB2 and Oracle database platforms, and the process takes approximately two weeks of effort from end-to-end (this includes time required to resolve any issues encountered).
Here is an overview of the process we use:
u2022     Create and release backup transports of key system tables and IDu2019s (via client copy) in the QA system to be overwritten (including RFC-related tables, partner profile and IDOC setup-related tables,  scheduled background jobs, archiving configuration, etc.).
u2022     Reconfigure the landscape transport route to remove QA system from transport landscape.
u2022                    Create a virtual import queue attached to the development system to capture all transports released from development during the QA downtime.
u2022     Take a backup of the target production database.
u2022     Overwrite the QA destination database with the production copy.
u2022     Localize the database (performed by DBAu2019s).
u2022     Overview of Basis tasks (for smaller systems, this process can be completed in one or two days, but for larger systems, this process takes closer to 5 days because of the BDLS runtime and the time it takes to import larger transport requests and the user ID client copy transports):
    o     Import the SAP license.
o     Execute SICK to check the system.
o     Execute BDLS to localize the system.
o     Clear out performance statistics and scheduled background jobs.
    o     Import the backup transports.
o     Import the QA client copy of user IDu2019s.
    o     Import/reschedule background jobs.
o     Perform any system-specific localization (example: for a CRM system with TREX, delete the old indexes).
u2022     Restore the previous transport route to include the QA system back into the landscape.
u2022     Import all transports released from the development system during the QA system downtime.
Our companyu2019s procedure is similar to the procedure demonstrated in this 2010 TechEd session:
    http://www.sapteched.com/10/usa/edu_sessions/session.htm?id=825
Does anyone have experience with a more efficient process that minimizes the downtime of the QA system?
Also, has anyone had a positive experience with the system copy automation tools offered by various companies (e.g., UC4, Tidal)?
    Thank you,
    Matt

    Hi,
    > One system that immediately comes to mind has a database size of 2TB.  While we have reduced the copyback time for this system by running multiple BDLS sessions in parallel, that process still takes a long time to complete.  Also, for the same system, importing the client copy transports of user ID's takes about 8 hours (one full workday) to complete.
    >
For BDLS run, I agree with Olivier.
    > The 2 weeks time also factors in time to resolve any issues that are encountered, such as issues with the database restore/localization process or issues resulting from human error.  An example of human error could be forgetting to request temporary ID's to be created in the production system for use in the QA system after it has been initially restored (our standard production Basis role does not contain all authorizations required for the QA localization effort).
    >
For the issues that you encounter because of system copy, you can minimize this time period as you would be doing it on periodic basis (making some task list) and you can make a note of issues that you faced in previous run. So, normally i don't count it as system copy time
    Thanks

  • Activating data in DSO got dump SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME after BW system copy

    Hi all,
We had an issue after system copy.
After a system copy the data in the standard DSOs(all of them) cannot be activated. The DOSs themselves are active, the transformations are active but if one attempts to load data and activate u2013 it does not work. The job terminates with shortdump SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME.
Found the issue is caused by u201Cmore than one versionu201D of the change log.
We tried the Program RSAR_RSTSODS_CHANGELOG_VRS but it didn't work.
We had the solution like this:
After activating the DSO itself(the object) using RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE the issue disappears and the data can be activated. Issue also disappears. BUT Drawback: Activating the DSO causes the transformations to deactivate. Then we used the program RSDG_TRFN_ACTIVATE to activate all transformations. And then the issue disappeared.
Want to know what the root cause for this. From some SDN threads, mentioned BDLS job in the post refresh steps are not correctly done during system copy may cause this issue. How did the BDLS run wrongly cause this issue? And what is the exact correct way? We ran BDLS for each source systems inlcuding the target refreshed BW system itself by the default selection - conversion of Client-Dependent and Client-Independent Tables; because we used database copy
    for the system refresh.
We also restored all source systems in RSA1 inlcuding the refreshed BW system own in the post-refresh steps.
Thank you very much for your information and suggestion.
    Heming

Hi Arun, as you say two change log tables it´s strange. In fact in my opinion it´s not right but the problem is that the second change log table appears after executing std SAP report RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE in order to be able to activate the DSO. So the solution provided by SAP it works but i´m not sure if the right one. Besides this the original change log table is full of data while the second one is empty... for new loads which are gonna a be filled  by the activation process ? I suppose the second one... will this have some impact with the data stored in the first one... not in theory but.... i do not feel confortable with the consequences of this report.
And the most important, it seems that the reason why the DSO and the change log table had problems is due to a some problems or missing steps after executing the BDLS after BW system refresh but nobody can confirm this point...
So, i´ve been able to solve the issue but now i have two change log tables for the same DSO.
Anybody has the same situation after executing the above mentioned SAP std report ?

    Hi Experts,
We are using XI 3.0 on Windows and MSSQL platform, i have made system copy sucessfully from production system with process of DB restore for ABAP and Java Import, the new server is up and running both abap and java.
Problem : In the newserver when i execute the tcode sxmb_ifr it takes me to production server url and not the new server hostname url.
when i tried the http://newserver hostname.com:50000 it works fine. but from this url except home page every other link like exchaneprofile, SLD,IR and ID links still points to the production server host name.
Please look at the following post installation activities i have performed till now in new serverand please guide where else i have to change the host name in the new server.
Note: i did not cange the logical system assignment in scc4, beacuse i was not sure about the other problems we may face after directly assigning new logical system to the productive client in new server.
    1. Run installation check: Administration u2192 System administration u2192 Administration u2192
    Installation Check (transaction SM28).
    2. Configure the Workbench Organizer (SE06) with the option Database Copy. This
releases all transport, repair, and customizing requests that have not been released in
    the source system.
    3. Configure STMS
    4. In transaction RZ70, change the value for the host and the gateway service in the group box
    Transport Information
    5. Change the pipeline to the Integration Server by running transaction SXMB_ADM   -> Configuration -> Integration Engine Configuration

services -> Jcorfcprovider all the services
                     services -> SLD Suppiler

Note: In the SAP system copy guide it says me to chane few parameters in exchange profile but when i go through the url http://newserver hostname.com:50000/exchangeProfile it takes me to production server, is there any option to change the exchange profile parameters ?
    Please help me.

    Hi,
the explanation of some of the thing you have written is clearly that the AII-Properties of the XI system have still not been switched.
The properties must be changed once - afterwards the URL to the exchange profile and all other URLs should become valid.
The key is therefore to change the exchange profile. Try please the to access the exchange profile by using the ip address or the fully
qualified name of the new server http://<newserver>:<port>exchangeProfile/connection.jsp
Did I get it right - you are redirected to the URL http://<oldserver>:<port>exchangeProfile/connection.jsp ?
