System Crash - all sound lost

? [size="2" face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif">I have a Dell Dimension 8300* which came with a Creative SB Audigy 2 sound system installed (Creative sound card, 4 speakers, subwoofer). They worked OK. A recent system crash required reinstallation of the OS (Windows XP) and all applications and drivers, including Audigy's. At first, everything was fine. Then, suddenly, no audio from my (Dell) speakers. Not a peep. I've verified that they are connected properly. Sounds/audio DO play through my head phones. I've tried connecting cheapo Logitech speakers to the sound card ... no sound from them either. I've gone through each troubleshooting steps specified by XP's help system. Everything seems fine, except there's no sound. All suggestions welcome.

If your headphones are plugged into the same hole you use for your speakers the problem is not with the soundcard.
I guess the socket on the card may be faulty and just make contact with the headphone pin better but its highly unlightly.

Usually it happens wen system crashes then it results into loss of all dat work...
But there are certains recovery tool that are used to recover lost data.
I think if u follow the following steps den u'll definately get a sol to this problem..
1.Install a recovery tool on some other system.
2.Place ur hard disc as secondry disc on this system
3.select ur crashed disc
4.Scan it through the recovery tool
5.and recover the lost data
u can use any of recovery tools like Advanced Disk Recovery,i found it worth...u can also try this....it is available on tucows

Blackberry Curve 8330 OS 4.5 sound "crash"(all sound stops)

Issue: No sound of any kind for anything. When calls, messages, or notifications are recieved the LED blinks as normal and the phone will vibrate if it is set to. Sounds do not play for any notification or in the media player; All sounds show up properly and their lengths display as normal however when play is pressed almost nothing happens. The play button changes to pause(as it should during playing) and a progress bar appears, but the player stops almost immediately and without playing any part of the sound(the changes are only visible for a moment).
What causes the issue: Unsure. I believe whatever underlying portion of the OS that controls sounds is crashing when it is called to play a sound, but I don't think it's any sound in particular. The first time I encountered this issue I was changing notification tones and browsing through the list of sounds. The sounds were playing as normal and then simply stopped upon selecting a tone from the list(there was the normal delay as if it would play the sound, and then nothing). I had played the sound before, and it was a default sound. This time(the second time) sound stopped as I recieved a notification.
How to solve: Temporarily, popping the battery out and putting it back in seems to reset the issue. It doesn't happen very often, but I haven't found a consistent trigger other than trying to play a sound(any sound). For good? That's what I'm hoping you can tell me. Could this be a bug with the way the current OS version on the 8330 hardware handles audio? I hope this is something that can be fixed, or will be in the future.

Computer crashed-all info lost. Re-installed iTunes,

Computer crashed and had to re-install everything. I did not make a backup disc of the iTunes library, which contained alot of uploaded CD's, that we no longer have.
In order to sync new music we would have to competely erase the ipod content and will lose all uploaded things. I also can not edit anything on my ipod, like removing stupid apps that were downloaded.
So we are stuck with not being able to download new music with out losing the majority of our music library.
We have 3 iPod touches, and one 5th generation iPod nano. Working with a PC, Windows Vista
Please say there is a solution!

If all your media (apps, music, videos, synced photos) are on the computer/iTunes library and the computer is authorized for the iTunes accounts and iTunes is logged into the appropriate account, then connect each device to the computer and make a backup by right clcicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore from that backup.

All sound lost when usb microphone was installed

Hi all
I installed a usb mic to narrate over some tracks and clicked on the mic button in the audio window and subsequently adobe will not play any sound whatsoever. The original tracks play the sound in Microsft media player (though I also tried windows movie maker and no sound there either) so am completely flumoxed.
Can anyone help or have any suggestions please.

Welcome to the forum.
Did you install any drivers with the USB mic? If so, chances are that these smurfed something in your Audio Hardware settings in PrPro. Look especially at your ASIO settings now. My guess is that you will have some additional choices in the drop-downs.
Now, USB mics are prone to problems in most Adobe software. Some function OK, but others just do not.
One thing to try, would be to download and install ASIO4ALL. It's free and has fixed so many ASIO problems for others. You will have to point PrPro to use it in all the drop-down boxes. After you install it, reboot, and it will appear as a selection. Many on the Audition have used it to allow for the use of USB mics and a ton of other esoteric equipment.

Entourage crash- all data lost!

Microsoft Entourage just crashed on me for no apparent reason. I first saw a message related to a problem with the database, but I honestly didn't pay attention to it. When Entourage crashed shortly after that, it asked if I wanted to restart, but when it opened everything was lost. No folders, nothing in the Inbox...nothing. I installed the 10.4.6 update but I'm not sure if that's related.
After searching other posts, I've tried to accsss the library file, but there doesn't seem to be anything there (unless I'm not doing this correctly).
Any suggestions? Or is this just a lost cause??

This is a relatively frequent, recurring and ongoing problem for Entourage users. My advice is generally to migrate away from the application at your first opportunity, as it is prone to such data corruption issues. If that is not practical, you'll need to become an Entourage maintenance expert to reduce the likelihood of future problems, and you will need to back up regularly.

FCP said it couldn't save a project, then crashed, all changes lost.???

What was I doing? Nothing unusual.I'd brought in some files, had removed some others, all working fine when played in the canvas.
It is kind of driving me crazy.

Open your project in FCP, go to the menu File > Restore Project. A window will open that will allow you to select the last (or earlier, if you wish) autosaved copy of you project. You will lose the work you have done since the last autosave.
You can set the autosave duration by going to the menu Final Cut Pro > User Preferences. On the General pane you can set the frequency of autosaves in the lower left corner.
I keep mine set to every two minutes, so if I have a crash, I never lose more than two minutes of work.

Can I get back my booksmarks that existed before system restored to factory setting? I did not know I had to save. Thought they where in space somewhere with emails.

First let me say this is my first post ever so please be nice. I am not a tech guy in any way, but when you get desperate you read a lot and try different things. This is what I did and I was able to transfer my old bookmarks to my new hard drive (providing that you have access to your old files. I used this on Windows XP, but I am sure that windows 7 can be done almost the same.
Go to bookmarks tab on the top
click on organize bookmark
click import and back up (tab on top)
click restore
click choose file (this should be your external drive, jump drive etc..)
click on document settings
click on user name (yourself, FF creates an individual bookmark file for each user)
click on application data
click on the Mozilla folder
click on Firefox folder
click on profiles folder
click on the file (should be the only one)
click on bookmarkbackups folder
select the date that is the earliest date closest to today
Click on continue
the bookmark should be updated

System Crashed and I lost iTunes Playlist

After all my items were restored on my computer and I downloaded iTunes again my playlists disappeared. Unfortunately my iPod Nano was new and I did not have the opportunity to transer to my iPod. Can the playlist be recovered or must I start from scratch?

Total Time Capsule Crash - All iTunes Lost?

I've tried all the resetting methods and everything. The Time Capsule had ALL of my iTunes music and TV Shows and movies on it, and when I reset it, it only stays connected for about 4 minutes, hardly enough time to move 110 gigs of music and video back to the computer.
I can't return it to BestBuy because I know they'll just swap it out. Can Apple Support possibly exchange/repair it without deleting ALL of my files? This is 4 years worth of stuff I'm looking at losing here.

Is the drive 3 TB or less?
Is the external hard drive formatted correctly in Mac OS Exended (Journaled) or FAT32?
(Your Mac can read other formats, but the Time Capsule USB port will only read and write to the Mac format and FAT32).
If yes to both questions above, have you tried using a powered USB hub with the drive?

Photoshop 7 will not install on my XP Pro after system crash

I have been working with Photoshop 7 for a long time. My system crashed and I lost all. Now when I attempt to re-install it it asks were I want it and all it will do is put the default Photos in my Photo director not Install the program??
