System Design  XI  / PI and ECC

Hi All,
Regarding the Overall Positioning of  XI / PI with respect to ECC and BI, where does it stand.
I know that We set up the Source System i.e. ECC would work as Source Sys for BI .
But, about XI / PI I need some input.
- How do we connect XI to ECC ?
- Do we need to Setup XI as source System for BI , as well ?
As I understand any third party bolt on remains on the XI and the XI would transfer that third party data to the ECC which can be
pulled in the BI .
Pl. correct me if I am wrong  / Provide me the input for the Above Qs.
In addition to the Sincere appreciation of your time and help, appropriate point is guaranteed.
Thanks in Advance,
Best Regards,
- Ishan

HI,
If i understood ur requirement correctly....
u need to  configure your R/3 System in your SLD and the client you want to use as Business System.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/31/f0ff69551e4f259fdad799a229363e/frameset.htm
In the Integration Directory you can then use the Business System.
at interface level:
u need to create RFC destinations in sm59 and partner profile configuaration and ports in we21,we20
from xi side:
rfc destination in sm59
if it is IDoc import metadata in idx2

  • Logical systems assignment when SRM and ECC are on 2 different servers

    Hi SRM guru's,
What is the standard practice for Logical system creation and assignment when  ECC and SRM are on 2 different servers.
I could not able to find which i created a logical system  in SRM server which i created in ECC
    Same for the ECC also.
how do i assign logical system of SRM to ECC
    vice versa.
    your prompt response is appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi Sai,
Logical System Naming/Creation procedure is not dependent on the servers but it is just a logical representation of a system.
As you are trying to name logical systems for ECC & SRM, please follow the below procedure which is usually recommeded by SAP and followed.
    Logical System : <SID>CLNT<Client Number>
For Example if you have a client 300 in system DE0 (also called SID), the logical system name will be DE0CLNT300. And it will be same for SRM system.
You can refer the below document which eplains the creation of logical system and RFC destinations etc
    http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/CABFAALEQS/CABFAALEQS.pdf
Note: Only while configuring the RFC Destination, the servers will play a crucial role.

  • 'Fuzzy System Designer' problem

After I completed set up the 'Fuzzy System Designer' (2 inputs and 1 output). How can I use it in vi program? I find it can save as .fc (custom pattern) file in 'Fuzzy Logic Controller Design'. But how to use the .fc file?

    Hi,
To use the Fuzzy Logic file, you need to use the "FL Load Fuzzy Controller" to load the file and use the "FL Fuzzy Controller" VI to execute the controller.
The best way to see how to use it is accessing the manual and examples that ship with LabVIEW. You can access both function by going to "Help>>Search LabVIEW Help..." and go to "LabVIEW Modules and Toolkits" Options, browse the content for PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit. To access the example finder, go to "Help>>Find Examples.." and under Modules and Toolkits, find PID and Fuzzy Logic and open the examples.
    Hope this helps!

  • Xilinx SDAccel and NI LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite win a pair of EETimes/EDN ACE Ultimate Product Awards

Last night, EETimes and EDN presented a number of ACE Awards including twelve “Ultimate Product” awards. The Xilinx SDAccel Development Environment for C, C++, and OpenCL won the Ultimate Product Award in the Development Kits category.
    EETimes/EDN 2015 ACE Awards
    From the SDAccel entry form:
“The SDAccel development environment for OpenCL, C, and C++, enables up to 25X better performance/watt for data center application acceleration leveraging FPGAs and combines the industry’s first architecturally optimizing compiler supporting any combination of OpenCL, C, and C++ kernels, along with libraries, development boards, and the first complete CPU/GPU-like development and run-time experience for FPGAs. SDAccel streamlines the development and deployment of critical algorithms such as Deep Neural Networks used in machine learning.
SDAccel includes the industry’s first architecturally optimizing compiler that makes efficient use of on-chip FPGA resources along with a familiar software-development flow based on an Eclipse integrated design environment (IDE) for code development, profiling and debugging, providing a CPU/GPU-like work environment.
SDAccel leverages Xilinx’s dynamically reconfigurable technology to enable accelerator kernels optimized for different applications to be swapped in and out on the fly. The applications can have multiple kernels swapped in and out of the FPGA during run-time without disrupting the interface between the server CPU and the FPGA for nonstop application acceleration. This functionality is ideal for swapping applications during peak loading periods.”
(Note: For more information about the Xilinx SDAccel design environment, see “CPU/GPU-like software development environment for OpenCL, C, C++ delivers FPGA-based app acceleration with 25x better performance/W,” “and “Latest SDAccel release adds 4 new hardware dev platforms, 4 new libraries, 6 new design services firms.”)
Vinay Singh accepts an ACE Award for the SDAccel design environment from Max Maxfield
The LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite from National Instruments (NI) won the ACE Ultimate Product Award in the Software category. NI’s LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite combines software defined radio (SDR) hardware with a comprehensive, unified software design flow to help engineers prototype 5G systems. The package includes built-in application frameworks for WiFi and LTE that enable wireless developers to focus on creating specific components based on existing standards rather than designing new algorithms from scratch.
The LabView Communications System Design software is coupled with the company’s USRP software-defined radio development platform for 5G research, which is based on a Xilinx Kintex-7 All Programmable FPGA. Wireless engineers can use the NI USRP RIO and the NI LabVIEW Communications System Design software to rapidly prototype real-time wireless communications systems and test them under real-world conditions.

Congratulations to all of the talented developers from both National Instruments and Xilinx who created these award-winning products.

  • More from Adam Taylor about Zynq and SDSoC: "Zynq is a device every embedded system designer should be familiar with"

Adam Taylor publishes the MicroZed Chronicles weekly in the Xcell Daily blog so you are likely familiar with his writing. Adam has just published an article about SDSoC and Zynq titled “High-level synthesis comes of age with SDSoC” on the Embedded.com Web site. Here’s his motivation for writing this article:
“…Zynq is a device every embedded system designer should be familiar with and considering for their application. At its heart the Zynq is not a FPGA with embedded processors -- like previous generations of FPGA with Power PCs -- but a true embedded processor with very flexible interfacing capabilities (DDR, CAN, UART, USB, Giga Bit Ethernet, SPI and I2C to name a few). What separates the Zynq from other embedded processors is the attached programmable logic, and with SDSoC embedded system developers can exploit this pretty simply…
SDSoC takes the eclipse front end, Vivado HLS, Vivado and a lot of behind the scenes intelligence to create seamlessly the option to accelerate software functions in the attached programmable logic of the device.”
What follows is a simple explanation of what SDSoC brings to the party from a design engineer’s perspective.

  • Can SAP ECC6.0 SR2 and ECC 6.0 SR3 exist on the same landscape.

    Dear Tech Masters.
I have done  Heterogenous System Copy in Dev and QAS box in Landscape.
    Source machine : ECC 6.0 SR2 on Windows 32bit. Oracle 32bit
    Target System : ECC 6.0 SR 3 on Windows 64bit, Oracle 64bit.
Now I am going for production installation,
I got stuck with installation in production as I have source for ECC 6.0  SR2 for windows x64 only where as I have done system copy for DEV and QAS using ECC 6.0 SR3 media, though the source instances for Dev, Qas were ECC6.0 SR2.
Please suggest whether its possible to design the landscape with mix of ECC 6.0 SR2 , SR3. Please help asap.

Thanks a lot Vladimir, I am confident now  ( technically ) to go ahead with SR2 installation in production.
In production, Should I make it up to the SP level with respect to QAS instance. ( QAS  is ECC 6.0 SR3 -system copy ).
One more thing, If  SAP will check our landscape, if they found it in this way..will that make any impact in SAP support in future.
    Please suggest.

  • RFC connection error between BW 3.5 and ECC 6.0

    Hi gurus,
We've defined an RFC destination between BW 3.5 and ECC 6.0. Connection test  (SM59) is ok, but authorization one fails and ALEREMOTE users block. These users on both systems have good profiles. We look ST22 and find a runtime error on CALL_FUNCTION_REMOTE_ERROR. We've cleaned source system on BW and RFC destination and we've created one more time, but error doesn't disappear. We've looked OSS but don't find anything.
Any idea? Is there any other place (users, RFC) where we have to change user password on system?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Iván.
Edited by: Iván Cabezas Castillo on Nov 6, 2009 12:09 PM

    Solved!
This is because of the incompatibility of password handling between
    640 and 700 systems.
We have to use a maximum 8 character long password with only capital letters (numbers are also allowed) for the user "ALEREMOTE".
    1. Change the password for the user in SAP R/3.
    2. Maintain the password in SAP BW for the RFC destination (transaction SM59 - Logon/Security tab)
    3. Authorization test is now successful.
    (SM59 - Test - Authorization).
    Regards!

  • Designing the consolidated and line item report for specific material

    Hi
i have a R/3-report and it run only for 7-materials.That means we need to only those 7-materials in the selection screen of report.
Then we will get each material corresponding line item details(material no, profit center, variable cost, quanity, price, financial loss(this is calculated based on quantity) , Utility Consumption(calculated based on price, variablecost)  ) in one report.
Another report will give same for consolidated values of financial loss, utiliy consumption.
<b>so how can i design the consolidated and lineitem details report for each material.</b> pls let me know
    kumar

0VENDOR_ATTR - Vendor Master Data Attributes
0FI_AP_51 - Check Register Line Items
0FI_AP_4 - Accounts Payable Line Items
It should be noted, however, that this won't get you everything that you need, so you may have to create enhance one or more of these DataSources and create User Exit ABAP code to get the required data. Also, the 0FI_AP_51 DataSource isn't available if your source system isn't ECC6 EHP3 or higher. If your source system is less than that, you're going to have to create a generic DataSource for the data from the PAYR table.

  • SSO issue with BI 4.0 BW and ECC

We currently have SAP BW 7.3 BOBJ 4.0 ECC and SAP portals.
We have configured SAP BW, BOBJ and SAP Portal with SSO and that works perfectly fine.
The issue is that i have Crystal Reports running on ECC that have also to be published to the Portal.
All BW crystal reports run fine and ECC fails because of SSO -
What am i missing here -
Do i need to do something different for ECC
In CMC  Authentication i have added SAP ECC and imported a role - So now i have 2 ids - one from BW and the other from ECC.
I know this is not the way to do it but it still does not work.
What do i need to do to have ECC and BW reports to work with SSO from SAP portal.
    Thanks

Thank you for your reply Ingo
I assume that your BusinessObjects Server has the SAP Authentication for BW and ECC configured ?
    *Yes *
Are the reports for BW and ECC been called from the portal ?
    Yes
if so then you have one BOE Server, 2 SAP environments and 2 SAP authentications configured and to achieve SSO for all systems you will have to combine the 2 SAP Systems via SNC (for XI 3.1) or via the SSO Token Service in BI4
We are on BI4 and we have set up SSO Token for BW -
Are you saying that we have to set up SSO token for BW as well as ECC -
In CMC - Authentication - SAP  - Options -SAP  SSO Service - it does not give me an option to have 2 systems
How do i add ECC system there too.
    Regards

  • How to find the difference in BI Content between SAP ERP 4.7 and ECC 6.0

We are looking at upgrading our SAP system from 4.71 to ECC 6.0, and I have been tasked with determining what new data may become available in our BW system after the upgrade.  I was wondering if there was a site that would tell me what new datasources/infoproviders are made available after an upgrade to ECC 6.0.
I do not need to see the list of all Business Content in ECC 6.0, just what has changed.
Also, the type of upgrade we are looking at performing is a "Technical Upgrade", which presumably just upgrades the SAP back end without affecting the front end.  Can someone confirm that the new BW content will then be available after a technical upgrade?
    Thanks
    Michael
PS - our BW system has been on version 2004s for two years now.

  • SNP planned order availability date difference between APO and ECC

    Hi,
I have observed that SNP Planned order availability date is not matching between APO and ECC. Details are as follows.
I ran SNP Optimizer with bucket offset of 0.5. After publishing the optimizer created planned orders to ECC, only start date is matching.
    Example:
I am using PDS as a source of supply.
Fixed production activity in SNP PDS is 1 day.
    GR processing time: 3 day
After running optimizer planned order is created with dates explained below.
    Start date/time: 09.05.2011 00:00:00
    End date/time: 12.05.2011 23:59:59
    Availability date: 16.05.2011 00:00:00
Because of bucket offset defined as 0.5 optimizer planned order availability is start of next monday.
After publishing this planned order to ECC dates on the planned order is as follows.
    Start date: 09.05.2011
    End date: 09.05.2011
    Availability date: 12.05.2011
I have not maintained any scheduling margin key in ECC. Also if I dont define the GR processing time, planned dates between APO and ECC always match. Can anyone explain the impact of GR time on the availability date.
    Regards,
    Venkat

    Hi Venkadesh,
What's "state stamp"? Do you mean different time zone?
note : 645597  mentioned by Nandha is very helpful:
In standard, CCR will use duedate - "the available date of the output product".
Nandha's words "In SAP APO, if the receipt date of the primary product deviates from the
end date of the last activity of the order, the receipt date
always identifies this as inconsistent. You cannot rectify
inconsistencies of this type by using CCR."
I guess in your PDS or PPM, the output product is not assigned to the End of the last activity. Someone changed it?
Please CIF the PDS or PPM again.
If you really want to apply a note, please use note 815509 as you're using planned order,
and system will use order end  date in CCR instead.
GR time is always considered. BR/Tiemin

  • SAP Data Archiving in R/3 4.6C and ECC 6.0.

    Hi Guys,
        Need some suggestions,
We currently working on SAP R/3 4.6 and have plans to upgrade it to ECC 6.0,
In the mean time there is an requirement for SAP Data Archiving for reducing the database size and increase system performance. So wanted to know if its better to do Data Archiving before upgrade or after. Technically which will be comfortable, Also wanted to know if any advanced method available in ECC 6.0 compared to SAP R/3 4.6.
    Please provide your valuable suggestion.
    Thanks and Regards
    Deepu

    Hi Deepu,
With respect to archiving process there will be no major difference in 4.6 and ECC 6.0 system. However you may get more advantage in ECC6.0 system because of Archive routing and also upgraded Write, Delete programs (upgraded program will depend on your current program in 4.6 system). For example In 4.6 system for archive MM_EKKO write program RM06EW30, archiving of purchase document is based on company code in the selection criteria and there is no preprocessing functionality. In ECC 6.0 you can archive by purchase organization selection criteria and preprocessing functionality will additional help in archiving of PO.
In case if you archive documents in 4.6 and later upgrade it to ECC 6.0, SAP system will assure you to retrieve the archived data.
With this i can say that going with archiving after upgrade to ECC 6.0 system will be better with respect to archiving process.
    -Thanks,
    Ajay
