System doesnt see memory when overclocked.

Got a strange one. I have a i7 920 on a MSI X58 pro board. I also have 3 x 2gig apacer 1600mhz DDR matched set. Now everything works fine till i push the base clock up from 133mhz to 166mhz. After that the pc only sees 4gig in post where the BIOS still shows that the DIMM's are full.
Anyone know why this is happening and what the problem could be? BIOS is latest 8.70 version.
Just to update I changed the memory multiplier to 5 and now my memory frequency is at 1333mhz. Also tried pushing up DRAM voltage to 1.65 but still cant see all 6 gig when base clock is at 166mhz
Thanks

I don't know if you downloaded HWMonitor. If you use it over an extended period, it logs the Min and Max values. Perhaps you need to run it in the background while doing your everyday PC usage. That will give you a good indication of where your core temps max out under normal operation. Prime95 taxes all your coree/threads to 100%, so do expect high continuous temps. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable though with those temps continuously at 90 odd C.

    Dear all,
    since we decided to migrate our Solution Manager (win2003/sql server 2005) system to a more appropriate server, we started an export using the NW70sr2 installation master CD, the one we used to install this solution manager instance.

    Actually we used a workaroud to complete the phase, ie we menually re-issued the command and changed the heap value from -Xmx512m to -Xmx1024m
    Is there a way to defalut the sapinst to pass to the java export command an higher java heap value, ie -Xmx1024m ?
    Thanks in advance and cheers.

    It sounds like you may have a corrupt render file in your 7th episode.  You can set in and out points in 5 minute increments and export those segments to narrow down which clip is the offending clip. Then re-render the offending clip.
    I hope this helps.

  • I have a Macbook pro thats prints fine to my HP printer, but when I try and print from my iMac it doesnt see the pages and just prints two blank pages. Even thou the document is a number of pages

    I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A and I had no problems printing to it from my Mac or Macbook pro. The macbook is wifi and the Mac is cable, I have recently had the printer replaced with an exact model. Since doing that I can only print from the macbook pro, when I try and print from teh mac it doesnt see the pages. It could be a 10 page document and it will just show two blank pages. I have googled the question and have tried deleating the printer and reinstalling without any luck. When I got the new printer I insalled all the latest drivers thats the only thing different.
    Could you please help

    Right click the printer in System Prefences -  Print & Scan and use Reset Printing System... and then reinstall the printer, should take less than 5 minutes. Here is a photo showing how to Reset Printing System....

  • "Not enough system memory" when there is?

    Hi,
    Yesterday I had a screen freeze and did a forced restart. After that I've been having a problem that will not go away, altho I have run Disk Warrior and Disk First Aid.
    When I try to launch applications I'm sometimes getting an error message saying: "There is not enough system memory, please close an application, etc."
    The puzzle is that I have plenty of free available memory when I'm getting this message. It also seems to jump between applications. First I couldn't open Word. Now Word launches but I can't open Internet Explorer, altho Mozilla launched okay. Re-starting and running Disk Warrior didn't help. I don't get it. What else should I do?
    Thanks much!

    Hi, Paul -
    Is it possible for it to change itself during a mishap (freeze)?
    It's just about impossible for that to happen. When a program's memory allocation settings are changed, the new numbers are not entered in an external document like most prefs setting. Instead, it changes a bit of the code in one of the resources in the program itself (judicious use of ResEdit will reveal this). For just that particular piece of code to be altered in an acceptable way as the result of a freeze is nigh impossible.
    However, there is a utility program named Reaper whiuch will make such changes with no input from the user. Its purpose is to automatically change the memory allocations for programs based on perceived usage and need. Unfortunately it will make such changes according to its logic, which is not constrained by the logic of the user.
    Check to see if Reaper has been installed. It uses a control panel as a user interface; not sure what the name of that control panel is, but it may be Reaper. If you find it has been installed, try deactivating it.

  • How to restore system RAM memory when i run DI batch job process

    How to restore system RAM memory when i run DI batch job process
    I use SAP-B12005SP53 and i develop with Business Partner Object

    HI ALL
    TAKE CARE: Nothing was working in VB6, but in .NET it sets the default value !
    from help of VS.
    When you assign Nothing to an object variable, it no longer refers to any object instance. If the variable had previously referred to an instance, setting it to Nothing does not terminate the instance itself. The instance is terminated, and the memory and system resources associated with it are released, only after the garbage collector (GC) detects that there are no active references remaining.
    Garbage Collector distroyes the objects at the end of the sub of function, not in the loop.
    So use local variables when you loading the 7000 items. For me working fine and i do not have a memory problems. I am loading 50000 items with prices from EDI file, and memory usage stops at 120MB.
    1st solution  create a sub or a function to populate the data, and run this for every items by as single rutin,
      sub x
        Dim obj As New Object()
            Try
    ... put here your update code
            Catch ex As Exception
            Finally
                GC.Collect()
            End Try
      end sub
    This free up the memory when Garbage
    2nd solution: use inner loop definition
      sub x
    Try
                Do While True
                    Dim obj As New Object()
                Loop
            Catch ex As Exception
            Finally
                GC.Collect()
            End Try
      end sub
    This free up the memory inside the loop.
    I recommend to use Friend Class keyword for your addon declaration and do not use modules.
    Modules and shared classes will be free up the memory when your program terminates execution.

  • MOVED: P7n platinum: memory errors when overclocking

    This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=118116.0

    Alright, I got the rest of my stuff listed. I don't think there's anything wrong with the memory because it's perfectly fine running at 800mhz when the FSB is 400, and I tested it not too long ago when building the system for my q6600. As for the slots, I have tried slots 1&3, slots 2&4, and all slots full with roughly the same results.
    Now that I think about it, it's more likely the board causing me to FAIL than the memory itself. There's no reason the memory should have problems running at 800 or below regardless of what I have the FSB set at. I did stumble across a post saying that this board doesn't like memory not on the compatibility list when overclocking, and I don't think the patriot is on the list. Any ideas on if corsair dominator could run on this board at its rated 1066 speed? Also, do you still think I should update from the p04 bios?

  • P7n platinum: memory errors when overclocking

    I have a p7n sli platinum and I'm trying to get my e8400 overclocked. The chip is stable at 4150 mhz and did prime 95 small ffts for an hour with no problem.  However, games crash and the vista memory diagnostic shows errors. I have ddr2 800 memory that runs at 4-4-4-12, so it should have some room to overclock with looser timings. However, overclocking it and running it at a 1:1 ratio still gives errors.
    The really bad part though, is that if I run my memory not at 1:1 so it can stay at its 800mhz rated speed, I still get errors. Does anyone know if this motherboard has a problem running memory not at 1:1 even though it's supposed to be able to? I've tried messing with all sorts of voltages and timings. What are the chances getting some 1066 ram and running it at 1:1 would fix the problem?

    10.7.4 is the latest update of MacOS X Lion. Run Software Update in System Preferences.
    Since you state to run 10.7.2, Software Update will have to use the combo updater to bring it up to 10.7.4. This will entail a large download that will take some time so have patience. I suggest the following steps:
    Restart the Mac, press and hold Command-R to start up in Recovery Mode (More info: http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/ ).
    If needed, select the desired language to move to the next screen (only if it is the first time in Recovery Mode).
    Select Disk Utility in the bottom of the list, Continue...
    Choose the hard disk drive device on the list ( xxx.xx GB APPLE HDD ...) by clicking on it.
    Click on Repair Disk button, wait for it to finish.
    Choose the Lion boot volume, Macintosh HD, by clicking on it.
    Click the Repair Disk button, wait for it to finish. If any errors are found and the process does not end with a "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK." message, click on Repair Disk again.
    Click on the Repair Disk Permissions button. This will take awhile to finish.
    Quit Disk Utilities, choose Restart from the menu.
    Now run Software Update in System Preferences, choose to apply all missing updates. This will take quite awhile, depending on how fast your Internet connection is. The Mac will need to be restarted when the updating is done.
    Run Software Update again to have Safari updated to the latest version. This is necessary since Safari 5.1.7 needs OS X 10.7.4 to be running already.

    I just wanted to follow this up by saying that you were entirely correct in your diagnosis of the situation.  My computer did have the faulty part you linked to.  I brought my laptop in and specifically told them to run that test, had it fail and then argued with the person at the genius bar and the manager.  Eventually they offered to have it sent out and have everything replaced for free of charge.  They did so mainly because I had complained about graphical issues almost every other time I had come in with problems and no one ran the test.  They should have caught this problem during my warranty, but they didn't, even though I mentioned the problem.
    Anyhow, after having the part replaced, I haven't had my computer crash a single time since, or had many of the issues mentioned above.  I've never had this experience before.  Even brand new, I got occasional crashes.  Hopefully this new trend continues.
    I do find that web browsing is still incredibly slow.  Web browsers just chug along at a slow pace, even though I have great internet speed.  Maybe I'll try just deleting my web browsers and reinstalling them...
    Anyhow, thank you for your help and knowledge Clinton.

  • ORA-04030: out of process memory when using Java Stored Procedures

    Hello,
    I have a problem using Java Stored Procedures in Oracle 10g.
    My Java application performs http posts to a webservice and the response is parsed in order to populate some DB tables.
    There is a scheduled job which calls the Java Stored Procedure every x minutes.
    No matter of the 'x minutes' values - after about 160 - 200 calls I get this error:
    ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 1048620 bytes (joxp heap,f:OldSpace)
    ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 2097196 bytes (joxp heap,f:OldSpace)
    The job stops just while is posting the http request. The weird thing is that almost each time the first http post request I get this error:

    Can be a problem with JVM threading under Oracle ?

    The server prcess failed to allocate more memory for large objects ( in Oldspace).
    If you Google ORA-04030, you will see several recommendations to work around this.
    The Java VM in the database already has HttpClient, i don't know why you are loading the Apache HttpClient but this might not be the surce of the problem.

    From no sign of 64-bit in the product banner plus VA (address space) 2 GB (close enough), it looks like the server is running as 32-bit process.
    With SGA + PGA (target) adding up to nearly 1900 MB, my guess is you are hitting the 2 GB per process limit.
    Lower SGA, it should help in the very short term. For longer term: lower resource demands or start planning for migration to 64-bit.

    1)Load up a TIFF file (each approx 5- 8 MB when compressed with CCITT.6 compression)
    2)Annotate image (consider it as a simple drawString with the Graphics2D object of the RenderedImage)
    3)Send it to the servlet outputStream
    Problem:
    Server goes out of memory when 5 threads try to access it concurrently
    Runtime conditions:
    VM param set to -Xmx1024m
    Observation
    Writing the files takes a lot of time when compared to reading the files
    Some more information
    1)I need to do the annotating at a pre-defined specific positions on the images(ex: in the first quadrant, or may be in the second quadrant).
    2)I know that using the TiledImage class its possible to load up a portion of the image and process it.
    Things I need help with:
    I do not know how to send the whole file back to servlet output stream after annotating a tile of the image.
    If write the tiled image back to a file, or to the outputstream, it gives me only the portion of the tile I read in and watermarked, not the whole image file
    I have attached the code I use when I load up the whole image
    Could somebody please help with the TiledImage solution?
    Thx
    public void annotateFile(File file, String wText, OutputStream out, AnnotationParameter param) throws Throwable {
    ImageReader imgReader = null;
    ImageWriter imgWriter = null;
    TiledImage in_image = null, out_image = null;
    IIOMetadata metadata = null;
    ImageOutputStream ios = null;
    try {
    Iterator readIter = ImageIO.getImageReadersBySuffix("tif");
    imgReader = (ImageReader) readIter.next();
    imgReader.setInput(ImageIO.createImageInputStream(file));
    metadata = imgReader.getImageMetadata(0);
    in_image = new TiledImage(JAI.create("fileload", file.getPath()), true);
    System.out.println("Image Read!");
    Annotater annotater = new Annotater(in_image);
    out_image = annotater.annotate(wText, param);
    Iterator writeIter = ImageIO.getImageWritersBySuffix("tif");
    if (writeIter.hasNext()) {
    imgWriter = (ImageWriter) writeIter.next();
    ios = ImageIO.createImageOutputStream(out);
    imgWriter.setOutput(ios);
    ImageWriteParam iwparam = imgWriter.getDefaultWriteParam();
    if (iwparam instanceof TIFFImageWriteParam) {
    iwparam.setCompressionMode(ImageWriteParam.MODE_EXPLICIT);
    TIFFDirectory dir = (TIFFDirectory) out_image.getProperty("tiff_directory");
    double compressionParam = dir.getFieldAsDouble(BaselineTIFFTagSet.TAG_COMPRESSION);
    setTIFFCompression(iwparam, (int) compressionParam);
    else {
    iwparam.setCompressionMode(ImageWriteParam.MODE_COPY_FROM_METADATA);
    System.out.println("Trying to write Image ....");
    imgWriter.write(null, new IIOImage(out_image, null, metadata), iwparam);
    System.out.println("Image written....");
    finally {
    if (imgWriter != null)
    imgWriter.dispose();
    if (imgReader != null)
    imgReader.dispose();
    if (ios != null) {
    ios.flush();
    ios.close();
    }

    U are right, SGA is too large for my server.
    I guess oracle set SGA automaticlly while i choose default installion , but ,why SGA would be so big? Is oracle not smart enough ?Default database configuration is going to reserve 40% of physical memory for SGA for an instance, which you as a user can always change. I don't see anything wrong with that to say Oracle is not smart.
    If i don't disincrease SGA, but increase max-shm-memory, would it work?This needs support from the CPU architecture (32 bit or 64 bit) and the kernel as well. Read more about the huge pages.

  • ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying ....

    Hi!
    Environment: Oracle Database 10.2.0.5.0 on Windows Server 2003 SP1. Memory: 4GB Ram. /3GB and PAE not set in boot.ini
    There is a job that runs at night that triggered this message. We assume that not enough OS memory was free for this
    process? Any recommendations greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    I too believe that this is a memory issue, but need to get confirmed.
    Can you tell us what is the bit-version (32 or 64 bit?) of windows?
    Generally when we get ora-04030 error, we have some recommendations. see this link

    I also faced same problem and I archived that in my blog

  • -17500 System Our of Memory Exception

    Hello,
    I am seeing strange behavior when I first start TestStand. I am getting an error -17500 'System Out Of Memory Exception was thrown' when executing the 'Create plug-in cache' step in the sequence 'Initialize Model Plugins' in the ModelSupport.seq. Here's the kicker: I only see this error when I try to run TestStand through a LabWindows/CVI GUI. I do not see this error when running TestStand from the Sequence Editor or a LabVIEW GUI I am using TS 2012 and CVI 2012. I am rnning the Parallel model. When I look at the Windows Task Manager Performance I do not see any memory issues. I have uninstalled and reinstalled TS and CVI to no avail. I am hoping someone else may have experienced this problem o rhave an idea of what the possible culprit is. I am running out of options.
    I have attached a screen shot of the Run-Time Error window.
    Thank you in advance for your help,
    Jim

  • I have a DV6815nr running Vista, system cannot see DVD

    I have an HP Pavilion dv6815nr. The system cannot see the DVD drive. I replaced thDVD drive. Still cannot see it. I've done the upper and lower filters in the registry. I've tried MR Fix it. Still cannot see it.
    I was able to to reload the OS from the recovery cd's last week. I was able to now see the DVD. It has now disappeared again. It doesn't show up in the device manager.
    This is driving me crazy. This laptop is for my son who has special needs and he really depends on this laptop.
    Any body have any ideas?
    Thank You
    Miike

    Unfortunately, it's probably the nVidia graphics processer on the motherboard. With these, it's not a matter of 'if' the video card will fail, but 'when'. I know it seems odd that the graphics card prevents the motherboard from recognizing your optical drive, but all kinds of wierd things happen when the old video card has run too hot.
    If you are handy, I would get the parts and service manual for your model from hp.com, disassemble the laptop all the way down to the bare motherboard. Then, remove the fan from the heatsink and clean all the lint that surely covers the heatsink radiator. Look at some of the various YouTube videos that demonstrate the 'poor-boy' motherboard reflow method that uses a few seconds of heat from a pen-torch to reflow the solder on the video chip. The aluminum tape protects the rest of the motherboard from the torch. Then, reinstall the cooling unit, after fitting a copper shim where the old, ineffective thermal 'sponge' that makes up the airgap between the nVidia and the heatsink. Take this opportunity to really clean up the parts. You can test your repair for success without fully reassembling the laptop.
    If you get the HP splash screen, you're good to go and reassemble the laptop. If you fail, try it again, since you have nothing to loose. Or, you can send the laptop or motherboard out for a more professional repair to someone who can reflow the nVidia. Or, you might want to order another motherboard from China for under 100 bucks.
    I like to update a failed dv6000/dv9000 series laptops with the last version, most featured motherboard, since they seem to be redily available. My personal favorite motherboard that will fit your machine is the full-featured motherboard with discrete graphics subsystem memory 449902-001. To install this motherboard on your machine, you need to get a Southbridge heatsink  (ARTFBAT70040183A, or equivalent), cut the filler from the fan shroud for the added radiator and reassemble the whole mess with new soft TIM's on everything but the Northbridge, where I hand-fit a copper shim to just over a slip fit and stick the whole mess together with silver thermal compound. Once all that is done, I lift out the I/O panel for the USB ports from the bottom half and make the opening for the new HDMI connector that comes on the faster, newer motherboard, with discrete graphics. I've had good luck with Chinese reworked motherboards, but it can take 3 weeks or more, to get them from China. If you're in a rush, you'll pay just a little more from a US seller.
    The most up to date motherboard I know that fits the dv6000 series without the discrete graphics is a 449903-001. Officially, I think we're only supposed to buy an exact replacement, but when the last version with the fastest bus is easier to find and the same price or less, I see no reason not to go all the way.
