System Error on Nokia 5800 XM

Having a SYSTEM ERROR message (see photo attached) on my Nokia 5800 when i turn it on. Also same error when i try to change date/time.
I have already tried both these codes without any success:
*#7780# - Restore factory settings
*#7370# - Reformat your phone
Could someone please help me solve this problem? Thanks

i used to get it sometimes, i think it must be an app that is trying to start along with the device and it might fails.
have you tried to start the phone without the memory card?
or reinstall the firmware?

Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
When did it start to happen? What troubleshooting steps have you tried to solve this? If you haven't tried any, you can follow these:
1. Reboot the phone. Turn off the phone, remove the battery and wait for a few seconds. Return the battery to its place and then switch on the device.
2. Restore factory settings. This will restore the phone's default settings and will not affect your personal information.
Go to Settings and Phone > Phone management > Factory settings > Restore
The default code is 12345 unless otherwise changed.
3. Make sure that the phone's software is up-to-date. You can check this by going to Menu>SW update. If you intend to use the Nokia Suite, click on the SW update icon.
If there's no update available, you may try to reinstall the software using the Nokia Suite. To do this, click on the highlighted word "reinstall".

System error in nokia c5

my dear friends plz clear my problm. I am using nokia c5-00. There are a lot of currupted files in my gallery. It occupies more memory in my device. When i try to delete those files it says 'system error'. So i am unable to delete. How to overcome this problem?

Until someone comes by with a more direct approach to delete those files – not sure if there is something like that – did you consider the Nokia Software Recovery Tool?

System error on nokia c7 symbian belle

Hi, I'm having problem on my nokia c7, sometimes it hangs and when i restart it shows a message ''system error'', i don't knows why is this happening i restored my phone but still its showing error report although in phone message it shows the number instead of person name which is already saved in contacts. Please perform a hard reset by entering *#7370# and default security code 12345.
Don't forget to make a back up first with Nokia Suite. Go to Tools > Back up, but don't make a back up of your settings.
You can restore the back up onto your phone after the reset by going to Tools > Restore.
Also update the phone's software to make sure it works to it's full potential, you can do this by clicking on the green arrow in Nokia Suite.
Let me know if you manage to resolve the issue, otherwise I can provide further support.

General: System Error on Nokia N80 music player

Hi all
I've just copied a bunch of WMA files from my PC to the memory card of my Nokia N80 and I know see "General: System Error" whenever I start the music player - and no tracks appear either. The only other details I can think of are that all files are in Artist then Album folders (i.e. in the Sounds->Digital folder, I have folder "Beatles", then under this folder "The White Album"). Would this matter? I've removed any .ini, .jpg or other files that may have been copied across and I'm sure none of the files are particularly big.. Any thoughts?

Cheers for the reply but I have managed to get it to play a WMA file - if I load this in to the phone memory.
From further investigation, I've found that if I remove a hidden file from the memory card under found in the system directory of the card, then this allows the phone to re-scan the card for files. It seems that once the Music Player has done a search of the card it stops searching ever again (i.e. it believes it has scanned the card, therefore no point doing again). But what if you add new MP3s or WMAs for that matter? I don't want to carry out this hack each time.
Any ideas how to make the Music Player re-scan the memory card each time?

Message error in Nokia 5800 XM

I'm using Nokia 5800 XM.
In my phone, I am facing one issue with call summary.
Even I set this option
Settings->Calling->Call->Summary after Call -OFF
It will display Balance and expiry date. (as I am using Pre-paid connection).
I called Airtel, they suggested to contact Nokia service center because this option should work when I set to OFF. After enabling (Settings->Calling->Call->Summary after Call -ON) this option, If I don't get summary then they (AirTel) will support to get message.
I gave this mobile o Nokia service center to fix this.
If any one know this issue, please let me know the solution if any....
And I am facing another issue with back-up.
It says, "file manager is full. Please try after some time."

call summary is nothing to do with your balance this is for your call duration
the balance message is down to your operator and them alone nothing to do with nokia they need to deactivate this

Hey,
I need this help before Wednesday 21st May 2008 as I am going abroad and urgently need my phone. I have had my phone for just over a year now and I have never had any problems with it up until now.... Think you can help...?
This is the scenario. My messages are saved under my nokia N70's MMC memory card and when I get a message there are a number of problems.
1) My phone does not vibrate or alert me when a message comes in. I have checked my profile settings and they are all up to volume.
2) When the messages come through they are not displayed on the main window of the phone as "1 New Message Received" but in the top corner with a little envelope icon. I know the icon normally comes up but the "1 New messge received part doesn't come up.
3)When "1 New Message Reveived" is not displayed on the main window I go into the "INBOX". When I click inbox on "Messaging" the phone displays an error saying: Messaging: System Error(-10) with a red exclamaion mark. The I can not write any messages, view sent, or drafts.
I have tried to change me message settings by going on "Messaging"> Left Click "Settings" > "Other" > "Memory in use" and selected "Phone Memory". This works but then my I looses all my previous messages.
4)My phone is also dead slow. I click menu and it takes at least five minutes to load menu.
IF YOU COULD HELP ME ON ANY OF THESE ISSUES I WOULD BE MAJORLY GREATFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On that post its for Nokia N95 u kno? Although the problem is similar, but different phone model can lead to quite different solutions.

Also format ur memory card, do not use content copier! dont install too much softwares, as ur phone model is old and doesnt have much space.
This is from NOkia, sometimes does work depending on ur situation:

To delete contact information, calendar notes, call timers, call cost timers, game scores, or any other data, go to the respective application to remove the data. If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first. or Memory low. Delete some data., try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).

to maybe let me see what u got on ur phone (by saving/exporting report).
Make sure u have the latest firmware! Updating firmware is like a hard reset but also upgrade.

Share online fails to launch: "system error" 5800

hi,
i've added ovi and flikr accounts to my share online application on my nokia 5800
i've managed to upload several photos but after restarting the phone the share online application fails to launch.
It thows "system error" message upon loading and immediatly closes.
Clicking the upload icon from the image viewer gives the same result.
i've done hard reset which seemed to help, but after restoring a backup with phone settings the problem returned as well.
is there a way to reset share online's settings without resetting all of the other phone preferences and access points?

ok, managed to solve it (just to make it quicker to others having this issue)
there are two solutions:
the official one is to do a backup on everyone except your settings, do a hard reset, restore (not the settings/apps).
this will work but you will have to reconfigure everything and reinstall a lot of apps.
the unofficial solution requires a formidable amount of skill but it's doable,

once you'll get the file and install the app (takes a day or so to get it)
follow these instructions to allow access to your c:\private folder

once complete delete the folder c:\private\2000bb61 (i hope it's the same naming in all devices, if not search for the ovi-logo-1.svg file in the c:\private folder
once deleted your app will work as expected.

Cannot connect to WIfi on 5800 'System error'

Yesterday i purchased a Nokia 5800 on the 3 network. I'm currently trying out its WI-FI capabilities as i'm soon going on holiday to new york and would like a way to stay in touch with friends via WI-FI. So i tried connecting to my Router (Which has no other protection other than a WEP key). Every time i try to connect though, it tries to load for a while and i just get 'System Error'.
I have searched about and no other topics have really helped. I'm wondering perhaps maybe i entered the WEP key wrong, but as im new to the phone and its functionality i am unable to figure out how to change it?

All i can tell you about the router (Due to it be all i know) is that it's a Sky router, it isnt wep key protected as i previously thought, but simply a 'network key', which is 8 characters long.
I figured out to delete the access point and set it up again, and i did connectto my router, and it said it was able to connect, but when i tried to browse the web, it spent a while trying to load and again, 'System Error'.
I've never had this problem before with any other device that i wanted to connect to the router, i've connected my mac, laptop, xbox, DS, and PSP all without any of these problems.
Later on today i'm going to go to someones house and try to connect to theirs to see if i have the same problem trying to connect to other routers

Nokia 5800 RSS Reader broken "unknown error"

My Nokia 5800 RSS Reader spontaneously died. Getting "unknown error".
Anyone know how to fix this? Will any new firmware fix it? Any free apps?
The RSS Reader on the phone isn't bad imo and i had over 10 feeds in there. I'm having to use Opera Mini rss feed is usable but that browser is so fragile!

I have had the same problem on my nokia 5800, everything worked great for about 1 month since I bought the phone and then out of nowhere the feeds got corrupted when I was doing a refresh all I think. It is 100% a software database or broken file issue. I tried searching for bookmark database in system folders and files and others using y-browser to see if I can erase them manually but wasn't able to find any file that would indicate it is a bookmark database or whatever. Maybe someone who knows s60 ins and outs has an idea where do these bookmarks live.
On the other hand I remembered I had done a full back up of my phone beforehand using PC suite (Ovi Suite same thing in a different package) . So I just restored the bookmarks to my phone and vioala. The feeds work again, because the whole bookmark database got overwritten. No hard reset required.
If you already have the error and no back up then it is a problem. You would have to trick the nokia restore software to do the restore with a blank file. You will have to dig around and find out how to do it. Perhaps do a back up for the broken bookmarkrs, find the file, then either replace with a blank or edit it such that it looks like blank. Alternatively, have someone who has a uncorrupted bookmark back up, send you the file and you can restore that one.

Cannot sync to Ovi-system error on screen of 5800

I've been using Ovi sync very happily for weeks and now when I try and sync my 5800 it tries to connect,promptly disconnects and then displays a 'system error' message onscreen.
Is Ovi sync down?
I've gone into 'manage devices', removed my device and then set it up again from scratch (getting sync settings via SMS etc) but even with the new profile I still get the same error message.
Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. The problem occurred, but may be unrelated, after I noticed that my funambol sync client was no longer working. I then upgraded to a newer version (overwriting the old). However, it would still not work. So I tried it again, a different way (uninstalling the old, installing the new). Now Funambol sync client does not even connect, it just quits with technical error.
Using Nokia's native sync functionality results instantly in a System Error. I guess the problem should be sought in the accessibility of the contacts and calendar databases in the phone, rather than in any network functionality. But hey, who am I?

Nokia e 72 shown system error

i reset my nokia e 72 by *#0000# after reset completetion its shown system error. keypad not working, no sim network, no usb cable connect. only 1 key (menu key) working prperly.

OP didn't mention lack of USB cable connect before, so only available option now to "hard reset" the phone by turning it off, and pressing and holding the shift, space, and backspace keys, whilst powering it on. Keep the keys held down until the Nokia or carrier logo appears.

Nokia N95 Mail For Exchange "Systems Error PLease ...

I am the I.T Person for a Transport Company in Australia
One of my users have a Nokia n95 and when i installed MFE it all worked Fine and had no drama's
However another User Has a Nokia N95 and i installed Mail for Exchange and configured it and everytime they go to re-sync they get the Error Systems Error Please Try Again Later!!!!
The Phones have the same version of MFE so i do not see what the issue is?
There has been no Exact fix for this issue and i am trying to work out what to Do!!!
If anybody has ANY hints please help i am getting to the end of my knowledge

Hi,
I got myself a Nokia E61i recently. I have installed the Mail4Exchange software and I introduced the right settings and email configurations, which I got from the company IT service.
The phone connects to the exchange server, followed by a pop-up message saying "System error. Try again later." When I change the connection from 'unsecure' to 'secure', the message becomes "Error in exchange server. Try again later."
I do not manage to access any emails. I have discussed the issue with my IT service but they are not sure either.
Is anyone familiar with this problem, and do you know what do to about it? Many thanks in advance.

I would also like to hear from someone from Nokia on this - here we all are on a website called "Nokia connecting people", which is all very well, but many people seem to be affected by this problem of not being able to connect their E61i and other phones to use M4E without getting the message "System Error. Try again later."
So far I can see from the web that people have tried or proposed the following solutions:
1. Change access point
2. Remove proxy connection
3. Check incompatibility with Gmail
4. Turn off secure connection
5. Check with organisation IT department

7. Do a hard reset (ie format the internal memory and erase everything)
8. Get rid of Nokia phone and buy something else.
I so far have tried 1-6 (though 6 was unintelligible to me). What does NOKIA suggest??
