System Failure: Started with update of iDisk
I have had no problems with my Powerbook until yesterday.
When the computer "awake" the message said it needed time for the iDisk to properly load. Since then, I have had applications and the broser just shut down and twice got a white text on black background overaly system error message I'd never seen on a MAC before.
What's going on?
Hi K,
What you are experiencing is a kernel panic. Read through the link and try out some of the troubleshooting links.

Satellite L500-1ek - setup system always starts with 800x600
I have new Satellite L500-1ek notebook with Windows 7.
Whatever screen resolution I setup system always starts with 800x600. And not only after restart but even when I logout my profile and login again.
More: I use also external monitor. I can have mirror of my laptop screen on the monitor or only display on monitor but whatever I do I cannot have extended screen.
When I try to set it up I'm simply ignored by driver.
So I tried to install newest driver. I downloaded it from Toshiba site but it never installed saying me that my system did not meet minimum requirements.
What to do now?
MarekHi Marek,
> I downloaded it from Toshiba site but it never installed saying me that my system did not meet minimum requirements.
As far as I know your notebook is equipped with Intel graphic card and so you are installing the latest display driver from Toshiba website. Is this right?
Well, I have to say that I had the same issue on my Satellite U400 that is also equipped with Intel graphic card. The solution for this problem was pretty easy: I installed the driver via device manager. There select the graphic card, make a right click on it and select Update Driver. In next windows choose the advanced installation where you can choose the driver directory yourself. After the installation make a restart and thats all! :) -

Copy all the objects from the one system that start with (ZANK)
hi to all,
I have installed the name space /ank/ in the US system, we need to copy all the objects from the India system that start with (Zank) and re-create them as /ank/. problem is how can i copy objects and re-create.
thanksHi Ankal,
I guess this is your second thread on the same question. Ok provide these information
>>I have installed the name space /ank/ in the US system,
Are you saying that you have a machine (US System) and i has a namespace /ank/ ? What all objects are there in this namespace?
>>we need to copy all the objects from the India system that start with (Zank) and re-create them as /ank/.
Is the India system on the same US system?
Also tell me whether you have opened the home page of SAP XI/PI? If yes , are you able to open Integration Repository? If yes then how these US and India systems are referred in Integration Repository? Are they referred as separate software components?
Regards

System failure after recent update.
Hello. I just ran pacman -Syu on one of my systems and now the console screen resolution is down to low (default linux not what Arch is normally set to) and the network won't come up.
journalctl -xe gives the error of
Job sys-subsystem-net-devices-enp0s4fu4.device/start failed with result 'timeout' <- an USB network card
Job sys-subsystem-net-devices-enp5s0.device/start timed out <- Internal eth0 card.

~ # rebootFairly I didn't set up anything in the tty, it's the same setting Arch boots from CD so I always thought it just takes it from default settings.
BTW I just found, that the pacman cache has two versions of the Linux kernel 3.18 and 3.19 but only one version of linux-api-headers which is the same sub as that of the working kernel: 3.18.
Could this cause the problem that there is no 3.19 kernel headers or are they not simultaneously updated with the kernel?
As for the bugtrack link you gave, I don't know if it's related. In the comments they say its possible to load the module but then after a short connection time it went down, however in my case it does not get loaded at all as I see in journalctl -b

System failure after critical updates auto downloaded on HP-DV7 17.3" AMD Quad Core
After critical updates system auto reboot closed programs and went into reboot mode but system will not reboot and cannot run recovery successfully. Windows tries to load files and get to the start windows screen but will not complete. Not sure if it will bring me back to orig. format, was not able to find a restore point and do not have any reboot disks. Still under warranty but no list of available service people in area. Easy to buy hard to get service! UGH! HELP PLEASE. Thanks
Hi:
Make your own windows 7 repair/reinstallation disk and use the repair option to see if you can get it fixed.
Use the repair with command prompt method and try the fixboot command.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392
Here's how to make a W7 installation/repair disk.
I just copy and paste my standard instructions for using this disk to reinstall windows.
You don't need to enter the product key to repair windows, only to use this disk as a last resort to reinstall windows.
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

Frozen system when booting with dual-head setup (updates)
Hi guys,
I made a fresh install a couple of weeks ago and I configured my system for a dual-head setup following the wiki. I activated KMS and added radeon to the kernel parameters.
My xorg.conf looks like this:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "DVI-0"
Option "PreferredMode" "1920x1080"
Option "Position" "0 0"
EndSection
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "HDMI-0"
Option "PreferredMode" "1920x1080"
Option "Position" "1920 0"
EndSection
I was having random freezes for a couple of days, but I didn't pay too much attention to it. I hard rebooted my computer when it froze and it could boot normally that second time.
But after yesterday, last update to the open source drivers xf86-video-ati (1:7.5.0-2) and lib32-mesa-libgl (10.5.2-1), my system doesn't boot unless I disconnect one of the screens. When only one screen it's connected everything is fine. If I plug the second screen, it pops up the KDE service to configurate the second screen but as soon I press 'apply the chages' my system freezes and I had to hard reboot.
I've tried all possible combinations usingt different outputs from the screens, getting the same results. Two of them connected --> freezes after grub loading. One connected --> boot Ok, but as soon as I plug the second one and I apply changes, freezes.
I found one configuration that doesn't freeze my system. When I plug the second screen, as I said, KDE service automatically pops up. Before I was changing the positions of the screen, one beside the other one, and my system freezes when I apply the changes. If I just left the default configuration (one screen in top of the other), it doesn't freeze my system. After that, I can rearrange the screens, as I need them, and it doesn't freeze.
Here it is my grub.cfg

Downgrading catalyst to 14.3 seems to have done the job. Thanks for the suggestion, marking as solved.

Sorry, I don't post often and wasn't aware of the rules on images. I'll keep that in mind next time. -
Foxfire downloaded an up-date last night (10/20/2010) at 5:30 PM EDST when I started Firefox, and it crashed the compter on re-start with an error message... Missing or Corrupt File ... Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,

I am having a lot of trouble downloading itunes. My latest error message is that MediaToolbox.dll is missing. I have been trying to fix this for three days now .And it all started with the last update .Can anyone help?
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox , when I hit the icon and firefox opens the first page that comes up is the Getting started with Mozilla Firefox and not my home page , I have checked everything I could find and nothing keeps this page from opening like it's my home page . also I unloaded download helper for the same reason , it keep opening up wanting me to upgarde to the latest version , I already had upgraded , I don't know what is going on , My home system was upgraded early last week and works fine , I double checked all setting between the two systems , nothing , Please let me know where to look , thank you , a longtime fan of Firefox.
Hi Romulus949,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. Then you can set your homepage to anything you like.
If that doesn't work you should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved].
Hopefully this helps! -
System MP's version number not increased with Update Rollup installation?
Hello experts,
We just ran a quick compare of MP versions between our 3 SCSM environments (dev/QA/production), and found that 1 of the environments (dev) has several "system" MP's which do not match the version of the same MP in the other 2 environments
(QA/prod). All 3 environments are SCSM R2 UR4 (and we can see UR4 is installed in Windows' Installed Updates panel).
In the problem environment (dev), the following MP's do not match the version of the same MP in the other 2 environments. In all cases, we see 7.5.3079.236 as the version in the other 2 environments, while in the dev environment
we see either 7.5.3079.0 or 7.5.3079.61.
Service Manager Console Management Pack
Service Manager Change Management Library
Service Manager SLA Management Library
Service Manager Knowledge Management Library
Service Manager Service Catalog Library
Service Manager Library Management Pack
Service Manager Service Request Library
Service Manager Data Warehouse Library
Service Manager Activity Management Library
Service Manager Release Management Library
Service Manager Administration Management Pack
Microsoft System Center Announcements Library
Any ideas as to what might cause this anomaly? We're pretty certain UR4 (and preceding UR's) were installed successfully!
Thanks! You could check the install log. It is found in %appdata%/../Local/Temp (on the prim. management server) and file starts with SCSM2012R2_CU_.... (rather large file). From what I can garther it doesn't state importing those specifik management packs, but
rather MP bundles where my best bet is that Service Manager Console Management Pack is contained in F_Console.mpb. Then look at the end of the line if it says Final State = Install (search the file for .mpb). Let us know what you find.

Need help with ink system failure Oxc19a0020
I have followed instructions on HP site for general "ink system failure". I have cleaned printer head and disconnected power and commnunication cables. I have cleaned heads twice and disconnected the cables at least three times. Disconnection has been for a minimum of 60 seconds and as long as several hours. When I restart printer, it goes through it start-up procedure and immediately displays ink system failure with code Oxc19a0020.
HP site does not list this code. HELP!Here is a document that deals with all 0x... errors, just in case you haven't done all the steps:

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you have recently installed cartridges in your HP Photosmart C7283 which you had not used in 2 years. You get an 'Ink system failure' error message. I would like you to start troubleshooting here: 'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' 'Ink System Failure,' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error Message Displays If you are still getting the error message, you may need to replace the printhead, depending on how your stored the printer the printhead may have dried up. Take a look here: Storing Opened Cartridges and Printheads If you do need to replace the printhead, refer to the same document to store the cartridges that you have opened. I will leave you with our technical support contact so you can see all options available to you. They can be replaced at www.hp.com/contacthp/. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html
