  • Need recommendation for replacement battery on Wallstreet PB

I have a PB G3 Series Wallstreet (292MHz, family M4753) for which I need to replace the battery. Other World Computing has a replacement for $130. There is also lots of others in the $60 to $90 range. This is only for occasional use. 2 hours run time is fine. Is there any way to know if any of these less expensive batteries are OK? Thanks

Batteries Plus is a franchise. I asked my local (West of Boston) franchise what the majority of its business was, and they pointed to the shop table where several laptop batteries were being re-built and explained they replace the cells in laptop batteries. They also had displays of coin batteries, alarm system backup batteries, and other specialty batteries.
If you got the guy who started today, he might have heard "Re-Sell old batteries" and thought you were strange. Who would buy used-up old batteries? Maybe it's just not a big business where you are, or maybe they have not signed up for the training yet.

I am not sure where to turn. I am in China, and really need a mini DV to VGA adapter for my macbook so I can use the projector in my classroom. There is an apple china website but it is only in Chinese, and I really would love a phone number or some contact info so that I can communicate with an apple rep in English here, order the part, and get it delivered to me. I've tried to call the number displayed on the apple China site, but cannot get through (maybe it's non-existent?) Is there anyone that can offer some info or point me in the right direction? please???

Sorry all,I forgot about this forum in my long adventure w/hp ...Thank you, to those that replied !!!!
I finally got the part from HP; the problem is that they expect a return, defective part when you order this (under warranty) so the part is restricted from sale on the retail side... as they explained to me!
The part numbers they used to order the parts ("brick" and a separate cord) are as follows:
Note: the "cord" is a typical PC power cord; if you have a spare one dont spend bother spending the extra $23.( I found three of them in my old parts box after i paid for one from HP...go figure)

  • Need instructions for replacing battery

    Hey, all.
The "Replace Battery" light is lit on my ONT, and it is (of course) doing that annoying beeping noise.
Since the only way to permanently stop the beeping is to disconnect the battery, I'd like to do that.  Unfortunately, none of the instructions I've seen online, or gotten from Verizon customer service, have applied to my specific ONT model.
I have a Motorola ONT1000GJ2  (Yes, GJ, not GT, I've checked repeatedly).  I *think* the battery is in the upper section of the housing, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get to it.
If anyone has achieved this blessed state of affairs of actually getting to this battery, could you be so kind as to fill me in on how?
    Thanks in advance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am providing my own answer to this question, as the community didn't come up with an answer, and Verizon customer "service" (and I use the term extremely loosely in this regard) was the exact opposite of helpful.
Looking at the picture above, on the far right-hand side, there are two recessed hex-screws, one above the other.  To access the battery compartment on this particular model, leave the lower screw tightened, and loosen the upper screw.  Don't worry about it falling out: I'm pretty sure it's a "captive" screw, and so cannot be fully removed.
Once you have the screw loosened, pull outward on the upper right corner of the box.  You may have to lift up at the same time, if it hangs up on you.  (In order to lift up on it, put a finger or thumb in the screw's recess, and push upward).  Continue to jiggle and pull, and eventually the stupid thing will come open.  Once you've got it open, removing the battery and then the battery clips is the same as in the videos they've provided:  Pull back the tabs to slip the battery out, and then wiggle the connectors off the battery posts.
WARNING:  The battery is several pounds in weight, and the wires are not all that long.  If you have to stretch to get to your unit like I do (mine is mounted above my washer/dryer), you will benefit from a helper, so they can hold the battery while you remove the battery connectors.  I know I struggled a bit trying to do it alone.
Thanks to those who attempted to help me.  I hope this is able to help someone else in the future.
Oh, and one more piece of info:  Verizon "customer service" will repeatedly tell you the only official way to make the unit stop beeping is to replace the defective battery with a new one.  They have to utter the word "official", because otherwise, you can accuse them (accurately) of lying.  The unit will stop beeping as soon as you disconnect the old battery.  They, of course, want you to spend $30+ buying a new battery from them, so they will not tell you this.  If, like me, you have no desire to replace the battery, rest assured, the unit will stop annoying you once you've got the old battery out of it.  The "Replace Battery" light will remain on, but the audible warnings will end.

  • Need instructions for replacing ethernet port

My Blue and White G3 had its ethernet port killed during a recent power surge. Does anyone know where I can find a website that will instruct me how to replace it.

  • Can I request for replacement parts abroad?

My HP Pavilion dv6-3152ee hangs when used more than 15 minutes .Still under warranty so I brought it at the service center here in the Philippines. They have confirmed that the "thermal module" ( I think it's the fan and heatsink )  isnt working properly. I left the unit till they've found parts for replacement. It took more than a month in their office waiting for parts.
Unfortunately, There was no available part here in the Philippines and my laptop was still unusable til now. They've suggested that I may send the unit to Saudi where it was bought so I pulled out my unit. My brother ( who bought my laptop there ) said that the unit was also imported to Saudi and there is a big chance that they also lack spare parts.
My warranty is gonna expire this coming february so I must do something or else I may lost my customer service privilege.
Where should I send my laptop? How can I make sure that the have a part for that? Is there any way that I can  request part for my laptop?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
They will work out the faulty parts for you. You can not tell them to replace this, replace that. In my case, he (not HP engineer) came to my house to work this out and ordered parts for him (not for me) and came few days later to fix the machine.
    Regards.

  • G5 - ATI X800 XT Noise. Replacement fan?

I have a G5 with a stock ATI Radeon X800 XT video card. Over the last few weeks it has been making a whining sound. I tried to clean it with compressed air but it still makes the noise. I know years ago they made replacement fans like the ATI Silencer5 but I can't find one anywhere since they were discontinued. Any suggestions on how to salvage this card? I like the card and would rather stick with it as opposed to replacing it.
    Thanks.

    Hi-
Not sure, but a bury frame fan might have the right connector:
    http://www.directron.com/ec6010m12s.html
If the fan in the X800XT is of the same size and has the same mounting pattern, replacing the fan may be a good option.
Problem is, graphics cards use very small connectors, which are non-standard for replacement fans (except for Arctic Cooling products).
This is why many opt for cutting wires, or else accept the use of 2 or 3 pin fan to Molex adapters....

  • Replacement fan for T60 + finding part numbers + refurbished parts

I think I need to replace my fan.  It is making this pathetic little quiet, irregular buzzing (almost gurgling) sound now, and hardly any air out compared to how it used to really spin.  I downloaded RealTemp to test the temperature and it gets up to 90 quite easily, and will occasionally get as high as 96.
Any chance that this is just caused by dust that needs to be cleaned out?  I'm guessing that it needs more than a cleaning--that it needs an actual replacement...  unfortunately my warranty just expired...
I tried to find the replacement part, but when I went here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-62741 to look for it, I couldn't find my model number 2008-B62 anywhere.  When I typed it into lenovo's website, it gave me a description that says, "Original description: Based on 2008-C5U: T2500(2GHz), 1GB RAM, ..."  So does that mean my model is identical to the C5x model?  Can I trust that? If so then it seems that I should buy the part number 41V9932.  Is my reasoning correct?  Hate to buy the wrong one and brick my machine or something.
Also I see companies selling used parts on ebay for pretty cheap--compared to $50 for a new one.  my guess is these are from laptops with broken screens, etc.  If so then it might be safe to buy one of these used parts...right?  Or do you think that is a foolish move?
Thanks very much for the help,

well lot of these parts online are refurbished, so you have no guarantee as to when it will fail on you. They could be from machines like yours, cleaned out and resold as refurb.... 50 dollars for a new fan unit isn't all that much, i think you should just get the new one.

  • System Fan 90B Error Message

Hello,      I've had my Envy dv7-7320us for about 2-3 years and Just last week my notebook shut itself off in the middle of me working on it. When I turned it back on, there was a black screen that read ...... The System Fan <90B> message that everyone here seems to be getting. I sent it over to a computer shop and they cleaned the fan (it was filthy), and I also gave to ok to replace the fan. So they did that as well. Here we are into the 7th day since the error page occured and the shop tells me that the message STILL appears , even after cleaning and replacing the fan. I dont want them to do anything more , because it sounds like things might get costly and if it's something that I can do myself, I would prefer to just do so. Does anyone know why the message could still be appearing , or what other methods I can take to resolve this problem? I just dont want them to do anything drastic or costly for no reason. PLEASE HELP!!

Some bios's have a error message section that needs to be cleared before the message will stop. If not try clearing the cmos by removing the cmos battery for 15 minutes.

    Gary,
    Specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02863098
    Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842278.pdf
The manual only lists fan/heat sink assembly for Intel processors with 2GB discrete graphics system & not for 1GB discrete graphics, which is present in yours.
This is your Laptop's HP part surfer link:http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=LW170UA
In there too, only UMA & 2GB graphics system cooling fan/heat sink assembly part numbers are listed,
Only part for 2GB discrete graphic system is listed- 666391-001 (partsurfer) or 653627-001 (manual) .
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008L30LKW?pc_redir=1408522867&robot_redir=1
But, from this thread - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Cooling-Fan/td-p/3475779 , spare part number for 1GB discrete graphics such as yours is listed as 666390-001.

    http://m.ebay.ca/itm?itemId=221496259906
    http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=390914163035
Through online stores, I could find that both are compatible with your laptop model - 666390-001 or 666391-001.
    Hope this helps.
