System Fan for the K7N2 Delta-L

Hey anyone know how badly I need to mount a fan on those aluminum fins that are coming out of the heatsink that is attached by some weird post thingies to the thing that is labeled in the manual as the "Nvidia nforce2 SPP"
(I have the Vantec Aeroflow CPU cooling system already, and 6 case fans)
How hot does that area get? I don't think I'm going to overclock anything cept the CPU... but you never know

up to you it might mean a bit better o/c

  • Does the K7N2 Delta-L have LBA 48 addressing?

I want to add a 250GB HD but the FAQ for the K7N2 Delta says that it can only support up to 160GB drives. It should be able to support drives higher than 160GB if it has LBA 48 addressing, right? I don't if it does. Or maybe the FAQ is just out of date as it could have been made before 200+ drives existed? All I'd like to know is if I install a 250GB drive on this mobo it will not be detected as a 160GB. And yes, I have XP SP2. Thanks.

    hello welcome to forum.
yes your mobo support LBA with 48bit addressing.
if you add 250GB HDD will detected correctly at his full capacity.

  • Can't install OEM version of WinXP on the K7N2 Delta!??!?

I posted on amdmb.com's forums about how I cannot get WinXP to install on my hard drive connected to the k7n2 delta. Wonkanoby, a senior moderator on one of the boards here, and a visiotor on those boards at amdmb.com, stated that OEM versions won't work on this mainboard and you have to have a retail box windows version. Is this true? if so, this is complete crap! If MSI thinks I'm going to spend $150 bucks on a retail boxed version of Xp when I have a perfectly fine working copy right here, they are N U T S!!! This has got to be the most outrageous thing I've ever heard concerning mainboard issues. I hope MSI realizes they will either be working on a bios fix or they're paying me the restocking fee to send this board back to Newegg.

How to Install the OEM Version Windows XP Professional
    Last updated: 6/18/02
    Q.  How Do You Install the Windows XP Pro OEM Version?
    A.  I install it on a new computer (or hard disk drive taken down to "bare metal") from the DOS prompt with a Windows 98 Startup floppy (http://duxcw.com/digest/Fromshop/software/windows/startup/startup.htm). Put a copy of smartdrv.exe on the Startup floppy. You should be able to find a copy on and existing Windows 9x/Me computer at C:windows. It is on the CD’s in D:win98.  Boot to the floppy and use fdisk to partition the drive (the process the same as that at http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/upgrade/fdisk.htm. Format the C: drive. Do not install the system files. If you have more than one partition, they can be formatted during the Windows XP installation or with Windows XP after it is installed. Also, use fdisk to manually make C: active if there is more one partition. Load smartdrv.exe…
    A:>smartdrv.exe
    …and run D:i386winnt.exe, where D: is your CD-ROKM drive.
Do not delete or reformat C: with this method.  Winnt.exe copies the install files to that partition. You can convert it to NTFS and that process is fast.  It should also work if the i386 directory is copied to a scratch hard disk and the hard disk is connected to the secondary IDE interface.
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer = a company that makes/markets computers (and parts), etc. which include parts made by other companies, and not the “original” manufacturer as OEM implies, just masquerading as one.  Licenses of OEM versions of Windows, etc. software are sold to computer manufactures for installation on new computers.  They are full versions of Windows, not upgrades.  They are widely available on the "grey market" and Internet and cost considerably less than retail full versions.  Just be careful not to purchase a pirated copy.

  • 2 System fans on the MSI Intel 845PE?

    Hello,
I've just built a computer with the 845PE Max2-FISR, and want to install two system fans in the case (in addition to the CPU fan and the fan that comes with the mainboard).  If I read the manual correctly, there's only one pin connector for the system fan.
Does anyone have experience with installing 2 system fans with this board?  Can I splice the two together, and will the mainboard be able to provide enough power for both through the one connection, or should I be considering another solution?
warning, I'm a newbie at this, so I may have some of the terminology wrong.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi
I have installed 2 fans in series and connected them direct to the power supply by making up a lead with 2 sockets and one plug.  This is a very quiet solution.
It is possible to connect the hall effect sensor to the motherboard to read the fan speed but you must use the correct fan. Dont live in hopes about reading the fan speed on this motherboard which has problems which are well documented in this forum.
I have tried PC alert and speed fan 4 but can only read the cpu fan and system fan speed in the Bios.  (WHEN are MSI going to get round to fixing this.
An alternative would be to use a passive heat sink on the northbridge (Zalman) to make a fan socket spare. (Has any one tried this)

  • Can I have an oppinion on the K7N2 Delta-ILSR

I'm looking for my next board and after reading this article dated:August 2003,in Maximum PC mag, I wanted to know more. I have always been a Pentium guy so I don't know anyting about AMD and it's compatibilities...what is a fast processer for this board..?
How would it compare to the Pentium in Gigahertz?
Is this mother board even worth the trouble..?
So many questions, so little time.

I have and love hate my MSI K7N2 Delta when its working its a great board but it can tax you at times.
I've learned a lot in building this one.  I have been building computers for years started with the K6 III 450 and a FIC motherboard.
I never had any problems with any of them just put togather load and use.
The only other time I had any real problems with any of my computers was when ME came out I jumped right away what a mistake that was it was mouths before all the drivers where fixed and even than some never got fixed and had to quit using some of my hardware like a sound Card etc.
The Nvidia chipset that is the heart of the K7N2 Delta is very picky about what ram you use even some that look like there working can give you headaces.
Also they take very good power supplies the cheap 300 to 400 wat power supplies just won't hack it. Get a good one. Antec, Enermax etc.

Right now I have a 10.5.8 is there a way to upgrade or something?

Buy the Snow Leopard retail installer (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA).
That will take you to 10.6.3.
If required you can then use the combo updater to get to the latest version, 10.6.8 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399)

    Dear Kamat,
The HP manual (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01689926.pdf) says that the Fan/Heat sink assembly (depending on the graphics subsystems memory type), can be the following:
    516876-001 (for discrete)
    516331-001 (for UMA)
I dont know what graphics subsystem type is the DV7-2270US (VM189UA), but it doesnt matter in this case, becouse, if you search for those two part numbers, no one of them, is used in that computer. Check it your self:

  • Where are the K7N2 Delta temps sensors located?

Where are the K7N2 Delta temps sensors located?
Okay I know one reads from the diode... altough the reading still seems to be low compared to other diode readers (like the 8K3A+ which gives you readins in the 50's).
Where is the other one located?

  • System requirement for the LV and VISA run-time library

    Dear
My application built from LV8.2.1 didn't run on the old-fashioned notebook, which was under XP and 256 RAM.
(The application was tested successfully in several times in other computer.)
In the only first running, there was no problem.
But after that, the application executed "twice" and one of two couldn't be removed even in Windows Task Manager.
(I had to switch off the computer for restarting PC)
However,  I am not sure if this problem is a kind of the library's bug but suspect the out-of-fashioned notebook.
What's the minimum system requirement for the LV run-time library and VISA runtime library of version 8.2.1?
    Or any other check points?

    Thank you, falkpl and smercurio_fc.
Of course, my application and the libraries have no problem in other computers.
There were no error messages but it seemed not to run normally.
My application had to show a status message prior to a VISA routine, but only a blank in the status control.
When I click the application one time, the application was not launched.
Then  the two same applcations were appeared in the second click.
One of two applications could be removed by the Taskmanager. (malfunction of the program exit button.)
But the remained one can't be exited by the Taskmanager or Exit Windows.
Maybe, I had better remove the XP and then try again.
Anyway, I can't understand  the reason why any NI Labview developer remained in silence for this kind of postings.

No, I don't. To speculate would be crazy and only rumor mongering.
I honestly haven't seen any rock hard evidence that it is close by.

  • I would like to run the most secure version of firefox on my computer, but my computer does not meet the system requirements for the latest version

i would like to run the most secure version of firefox on my computer, but my computer does not meet the system requirements for the latest version. is there a way i can have the security of firefox 8 and still be able to run it on my old computer. i currently an running firefox 3.6. it is a bit slow, but it is functional.

Currently Firefox 3.6.24 is as secure as Firefox 8.0.1 is. Firefox 3.6.x will continue to get security updates until next spring, although the exact date hasn't yet been determined.
Which of the system requirements are you lacking? <br />
Processor wise you're stuck with what you got, but RAM can be upgraded. WinXP is still supported in all versions of Firefox and will be continued to be supported until Windows drops support for WinXP sometime in 2014.

  • System Freeze Microstar MS-K7N2-DELTA

    Hello!
I Resently abandoned ny "ol' faithfull' PIII600 for a more gaming-friendly system (full spec. below). I assembled the system myself so here I am
    THE PROBLEM:
System freezes from time to time:
    * System froze a couple of times during installaion of Windows. I had to run the installation program a few times before complete installation.
    * Almost never when surfing (as am i doing right now).
    * System always freezes during ADAWARE- or NORTON AV-scans, but never at the same spot.
    * It also always freezes during 3DMARK 2001 Very seldom during Counter-strike but often in Jedi Knight or Judge Dredd.
    * System every now and then when watching AVI-movies
    THE SOLUTION:
Oh please provide me with one. I'd hate to scrap my new 1500$-system and go back to Ol' Faithfull.
    Best regards
    Peter
