System freezes when link to Google Hangouts

Hello,
Can anyone help with an answer why my System freezes when I try to link to Google Hangouts
I am using a Samsung Notebook N150 , windows 7 starter , service pack 1 .
I have tried a system restore but get a "shadow error " , have also tried in Safe mode
I am not sure how to post the event viewer here ?
Thank you

Hi,
For event log, you can upload it to a public folder like OneDrive, then paste the download link here for further analyzing.
When does this issue happen? I mean something you have changed might causes this issue, or this plug-in doesn't work since you installed to Windows 7 Starter. Hangouts doesn't support certain mics and webcams.
Since this plug-in is related with audio\video, I suggest you update the drivers for your audio\video device.
Some thirty audio\video packages can also cause a crash.
Try to uninstall and reinstall the plug-in.
For Product Google Hangouts, It's better to contact this support, they're more familiar with this product

  • K7N2 Delta2 Platinium - System freezes when copying or writing to HDD

I am experiencing a strange problem. I don't know what I have changet to my system but since 3 days ago I am geting this system lock up when I move or copy files from one HDD to another. Windows doesn't show any error message. When copying files, either in the midle of the proces or at the end the system LOCKS UP  and there is nothing i can do except a hot restart. I never had this problems and it was months that my computer was very stable. I have no ide how to test to get some info about this issue. Any opinions ?
    Thanx

The tems are cool. CPU varies from 44°(idle) to 58° celcius (full load). Motherboard also 35° celcius. Now i dont know whats the start but let me tell the whole story. First of all i have this system since long time ago. Normally i install the computer once, than I optimize the system as i want it to be and than i back it up. Now Since i have all my programs installed in the way i want i dont like to reinstall the computer often, because it will take me two week to complete all the tweaks and changes that i do normally. So this system that is now runing has passed to three different motherboards (computer changes). Maybe the process of installing and reinstalling drivers in the system has degraded it. I am very carefull to clean drivers, registry and all. Although the system shows now errors, about 7 months ago i used to suffer system freezes when burning DVD. I couldn't resolve the issue since the problem was Nero being victim of SERVICE PACK 2. Anyway i have read that Windows XP SP has some Buffer and Cache problems and it makes conection with the burning problems. Since then i don't know how, after some times the burning problem disappeared ... i could burn DVD with the same version of NERO and everything was fine untill 3 days ago  . So i got the new NERO 7 with its new EXTRA BUFFER feature whitch works fine. Soon after installing NERO 7 one of my HDD crashed (i dont thing it has any conection with nero), it lost the partition table and it was recognised as UNALLOCATED. I recovered all the datas using a software calle R-Studio (very good by the way it can recover FDISK, Format, Delete, everything). After i had reformated the drive that crashed, I copyed back all the rescued files. Its there that the Copy Hang Ups started. WINDOWS doesn't show any ERROR at all, that means that there is no controller or HDD problem. I checked the drive and its fine. What reasured me that the drive was not the cause, was that even when i started copying between the other drives of my system i got the same problem.  So maybe my system is in a very very bad shape, or i dont have a clue of this thing        What is strange its that WINDOWS DOESN'T SHOW ANY ERROR MESSAGE, and PRIME STRESS TEST GOES ON FOR HOURS WITHOUT THE SMALLEST PROBLEM.
Thanx Dr. Stu I also tried copying at stock speed and i got the same problem.

    Hello Steven.
There have been similar reports, yes. You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • Screen flickering and system freezes when using Nouveau driver.

I'm testing the Nouveau driver on my computer, I really want to keep this driver installed because it makes XFCE to use less resources than the Nvidia proprietary driver. But when I start some apps like firefox or make changes to the desktop, the system stop responding and then the screen breaks.
I can't use the computer in that state so I force a shutdown.
I don't know how to see what is going wrong, because the proprietary driver don't give me these problems, I don't get any errors at dmesg log and Xorg log don't have any helpful information.

I got again a total system freeze today when I wanted to launch firefox using only the openbox menu, without wbar running.
So I decided to try now the 'nouveau.noaccel=1' kernel command line parameter, and to use again wbar for my frequently used applis.
In the Xorg log, the differences are:
    without 'nouveau.noaccel=1'

  • Unavoidable system freezes when playing games

    Hi all,
I recently switched from Windows to Arch Linux for good and it's been an enjoyable experience so far. My only problem is system freezes that sometimes occur when putting load on the system.
Mostly I'm having the problem that games I'm playing will inevitably freeze at some point, might be 5 minutes after launching them, might be 2h. It isn't exclusive to games though, once or twice Chrome crashed when having a couple of tabs open and opening another YouTube tab or something like that.
    Here's how it happens:
    - My frame rate (in games) drops over a couple of seconds until I only see a slide show, then it's only a matter of seconds until the system (X?) freezes completely.
    - simultaneously the sound begins to stutter and stops as well
    - if I see it coming and manage to Alt+F4 out of the game it goes back to running normally, otherwise it freezes completely and my only option is to reboot or Alt+SysRq+R, Alt+SysRq+E which brings me back to my login manager.
    About my system:
    - latest Arch, upgraded a couple of times which didn't change anything
    - Intel i5 CPU, Nvidia GPU with proprietary drivers
    - Openbox as WM, no DE, but I had the same problem with GNOME and KDE before as well
Games I played on this system (and all crashed):
    - CS:GO, Prison Architect, WoW on Wine
If someone could give me any hints how I could go about diagnosing/removing this problem I would be very grateful!
P.S. I didn't have any problems like this at all on Windows (7)

  • Macbook Pro 2.6ghz i7 2013 system freeze when using Premiere/AME CC 2014

I have a Macbook Pro i7 2.6ghz form late 2013 and I have been experiencing some serious problems with my system freezing while using Premiere Pro and whilst rendering from AME.
I am running the latest version of CC (8.1) on OSX 10.9.5.
GFX card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
    RAM: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I have CUDA enabled, I need the performance boost so rendering previews of the CPU is not much of a option for me.
I have experienced this problem since I started running Premiere on my laptop (3 months ago). If I am doing any GPU hungry processes within Premiere or AME the system will freeze, when it freezes nothing will respond and the screen stays frozen, I have to do a manual shut down.
I went as far as replacing the whole laptop with Apple as they put it down to a faulty GFX card, the new one has the same problem which leads me to think that the problem is with how Premiere and AME work with the new Macbook Pro's.
These crashes happen up to three times a day if I'm doing a full day of editing and I have to make sure I don't push the system to hard to avoid it, the crashes don't tend to happen when I am editing 5D footage but they are quite frequent when editing 4k GH4 footage. I am working off multiple hard drives with valuable data which are put at risk when the system crashes. I normally work on a 6 core Mac Pro but next week I'll be pushing my laptop pretty hard with a full week of editing and I'd love to avoid these crashes.
If more info and specs are needed to identify the problem, I'll be happy to provide them.
    Cheers, Moja.
    ps.
My system just crashed twice today, once while writing this message, I had a project open in Premiere but I wasn't even editing, its currently 30 degrees in Melbourne, one of the hottest days of the year yet, which leads me to believe that the heat is contributing to the GFX card or CPU overloading.

    mojareeves1 wrote:
I forgot to add that I have also updated to the latest nvidia card driver.
My music seems to keep playing when the crash occurs which suggests the hard drive and other components are still running fine, its just the GFX card that is crashing.
The GFX card may be a red herring if it still crashes in software mode and with the internal card.  The fact that you have music playing, however, may be a clue.  Programs that can access your audio hardware (like Soundflower) at the same time as Pr have been known to conflict and cause crashes.  Turn off any background audio processes.  Check your system audio settings, as well as Pr's audio and audio hardware settings. If you can, change the source of Pr's Desktop Audio in Preferences>Audio Hardware.  Try changing the ASIO settings.
The next (and most painful) step would be to work your way meticulously through this document:
Troubleshoot system errors, freezes | Mac OS 10.x | Adobe software
The "Re-create Adobe application preferences" step often helps a lot.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

  • [SOLVED] System freezes when mmc inserted

I recently installed Arch 64bit on a new Ladtitude E6410 running GNOME 3. I keep my files on 32GB SD card formatted as an Truecrypt encrypted NTFS volume. When the card is inserted -- and ONLY this card! Others work fine! -- the system freezes. This can happen at any time, even during system init.
    Any thoughts?

  • KT4A-V system freezes when closing Internet Explorer

I just built an MSI KT4A-V mb/xp2600 system. When I open Internet Explorer (IE6) and then close it , my desktop gets messed up (low resolution, big, ugly icons) and the computer freezes. The pc seems fine while I'm online, as I can surf the web with no problem, but as soon as I close IE the problem occurs, and I can't even open the task manager with ctrl-alt-del. The problem occurs shortly after w98 is installed as well as with Norton Personal Firewall 2003 running with the lastest signatures. I've downloaded and installed all the window updates, scanned the pc with norton antivirus, spysweeper 3.2, and Adaware 6. No viruses or spyware were found.  It doesn't happen when I disconnect the ethernet cable from the pc. Does anyone have a clue about what might be going on? Are there problems with the Rhine II LAN driver? I have tried the w98se driver on the included mb driver cd (with w98se) as well as the w98 driver from msi's web site (with w98)  have also reformatted the hd and installed w98 and w98sec several times.
    MSI KT4A-V mb/xp2600, W98SEC, 256mb, 350W Antec power supply. Internet access via router/cable modem.

download the latest chipset, ethernet and display drivers from:  VIA Drivers
ugh, i could never get Windows 98 to remain stable for long. my solution: windows XP!!

    Hi!
My name is Vedekito and I'm new in this forum and in Boot Camp tech. I have a strange issue when I disable any network connection in Windows (WiFi, Lan, BT, or IEEE)... After disabling any, my system freezes and I can only turn it down pressin the power button a long time...

  • System freezes when enabling monitor mode for AR9285 on 2.6.36

    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=863772
    Bug report:
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/21683
I am going to downgrade my kernel to 2.6.35.
    Hey all,
I have a severe system failure when trying to set my wlan chipset into monitor mode - works with backtrack 4, which still uses 2.6.30 I guess
    reproduce with:
Atheros AR9285 chipset on ArchLinux w/ Kernel 2.6.36 , drivers are standard ath9k which come with Arch Linux
    airmon-ng start wlan0 <channel>
"panic occured, switching to console mode.." or something, after a long output, which doesnt get logged, supposedly..
    might be related to:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=104231
although ifconfig wlan0 up works without any problems..
what can I do? downgrading my kernel to 2.6.30, or installing other drivers?
I have to admit I'm not a power user when it comes to kernel and drivers stuff.. but willing to learn.
    Thank you

I can't help you, but I had a problem with kernel 2.6.36.1-3, too. I got a kernel panic, when I tried to boot. Only thing I could do was to revert to kernel 2.6.35.x. That happened on my big pc, not on my netbook. Maybe he didn't like my amd cpu, who knows.

  • System freeze when trying to connect to wireless PEAP network

This is reproducible everytime. May I know which logs I may find to debug this, and also any possible solutions?
    Thanks!

    Solution - don't know
    Logs: in /var/logs
    kernel.log, dmesg.log, messages.log, everything.log, possibly daemon.log (contents may overlap between these)
If problem is with X: Xorg.0.log.old
    If you use wicd: /var/logs/wicd/wicd.log
There has been a fairly widespread problem the past 2-3 months with untraceable system freezes (screen goes black, keyboard & mouse freeze, requires hard reset) that probably involve a kernel panic (flashing CAPS & Scroll Lock LED's) but nothing is found in the logs.  Search this forum, e.g. for "freeze".  Example of one thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=88594
I've been experiencing this for >2 months, and sometimes suspect that in my case it comes from wlan (using WPA/PSK) which frequently disassociates and then reassociates but I find nothing in the logs.  Maddening!

  • [SOLVED] System freezing when using rsync

    Hello,
I have a new build of Arch with the GDE and overall it is working very well.
There are some 'glitches', some more disruptive than others.
When using rsync over a powerline connection (I only mention the powerline connection, as, when using rsync directly via my router I have no issues) between two identical NICs/Servers both running FreeNAS, the PC I have arch installed upon/is running rsync freezes intermittently throughout the process of rsync.
The freezes are apparent by lost keyboard and mouse reply, and all screens freezing.
I have attempted to use top and gnome-system-monitor to find out the reason, but, they both list rsync as the top cpu process when the freezes happen, and, no other running process seems to 'move' in the list of processes at the same time.
This happens when I have any other applications/logins running - be it Firefox, Thunderbird, other consoles, etc.
I am using Guake as a terminal (Mainly because I cannot get gnome-terminal to work - it is installed and appears, but, selecting the icon leads to nothing appearing) - perhaps this is the cause - I would not know how else to troubleshoot other than attempting to use top and system-monitor.
    Many thanks everyone.

Thank you karol - you have been so helpful.  It is really appreciated and has helped me make great progress today.
That link for rsync is perfect! (I shall post back with my results)
Yes - Gnome Desktop Environment, I am a bit embarrassed, I'm not sure why, but, from what I read, I think that I am meant to be
I guess that I am very used to it, and, I really like being able to press the 'windows' button and type the beginning of a GUI that I want to run, followed quicky by enter, and I am there...
For me it is all about speed, so, any Window Managers that are quick without a ludicrous amount of guesswork as to how to get going with them would be good.  Do you have suggestions for tiling WMs in relation to terminal emulators therefore?
I have tried the 'obvious' WMs: LXDE, XFCE, Openbox, KDE and have found Gnome to be the easiest/quickest to use, but, that is only so far - I am SO open to suggestions as I love to try something that, without recommendation, I might have missed, especially when in a forum of 'like minded' people!
I have not heard of tmux or urxvt for example, so, shall imediately be trying them out - ALL of your kind suggestions today have been a marvelous help, and, will probably become a part of my daily routine - now there is an example of how to influence people heh karol!
    Thank you once again

  • 10.6.4 complete system freeze when resuming from screensaver-VMWare Fusion

I have a Macbook Pro, 3,1. I just upgraded to 10.6.4 and noticed the following symptoms:
Shortly after launching VMWare Fusion 3.1 running a Windows XP VM (from a Bootcamp partition), a series of pop up messages were complaining about a bad OpenGL driver. The message popped up repeatedly and wouldn't let me out, even though I kept pressing "Ok". I had to force quit Fusion, which caused a chkdsk on relaunch of the XP VM.
After a complete reboot, I started VMWare again. The Fusion complaints haven't shown up again, but when resuming from the screensaver, the system either completely freezes up, or the screen login window starts to flash rapidly and seize up. I'm running Spaces with 6 virtual screens. Whether I'm in the Fusion Spaces screen or any other Spaces screen, the system freaks out when resuming from a screensaver.
I use this system at work, so I have to be able to lock my screen when I leave my cube. The only way I've been able to ensure the system doesn't freeze up and cause a hard reset of the XP VM is to completely disable the screensaver and power saver features, such as Start Screen Saver = Never, Computer Sleep = Never, Display Sleep = Never and launch the login window by clicking on my user name in the upper right corner of the screen on the menu bar. Even that causes a sluggish screen and I'm not confident it will keep working. I also made sure (from day one) that the Windows XP screensaver functions were all completely disabled. I prefer to use the OS X screensaver for everything, if for no other reason than having a single screen locking/unlocking point for when I step away.
This was all working properly in 10.6.3. The only nit-nat I noticed about Fusion in 10.6.3 was that it had to be launched in the "Primary Window", which seems to be the upper leftmost Spaces desktop. If I ever moved it to, or started in any other Spaces desktop, it would also exhibit the same random lockups. Keeping it in the "primary" space seems to have stopped the lockups.
I noticed that there seemed to be significant updates to the OpenGL drivers in 10.6.4. I am experiencing an unfortunate side effect of these updates and hope I'm not alone and that a fix is coming soon. Looking at the other posts, there seem to be a lot of similar problems. I wanted to describe my configuration in case the Apple dev team reads these posts. Thanks.

I ended up doing an erase and fresh install of Snow Leopard (10.6.0), upgraded to 10.6.4 with the combo update, then a fresh install of all my apps, including VMware 3.1. Everything has been solid for 2 days now. I'm guessing that my system had a magic combination of issues that weren't visible in 10.6.3 but became obvious only after upgrading to 10.6.4. I had been upgrading my OS since 10.5.0 over the last 2 years and needed to do a clean re-install for some time now.
I'm guessing that others who are noticing problems with the 10.6.4 update have a similar situation with their installations. Think back on all the times a software installation failed, or the system required a hard boot. Plus, I had a lot of 3rd party apps on my box that never posted updates for later Snow Leopard releases, so who knows? Anyway, it's good to have a clean and snappy system again. A lot of my apps launch a lot faster now and survive the screen saver and power saver modes just fine.

  • System freeze when loading initial ramdisk ...

I have this os installed about 2 years and this problem occurs sometimes in last 5 months, the problem is when power on and step into "Loading Initial Ramdisk ..." it will stuck there, no keytap works, have to push the Power button, when power is off, push the Power button again, the system will launch smoothly. The system is up-to-date.
I googled and searched, some people talk about the Video Card like ATI or Nvidia, but what I have is an embeded Intel video card, it's a Thinkpad Sl510 laptop, nothing new.
Also some people refers to the GRUB.
Please let me know what information you need in order to help.

So no problem with my drive.

  • [SOLVED]System freezes when trying to suspend

    Hi everyone,
I have a hard time to make suspend-to-ram working. Under Debian a
    echo mem > /sys/power/state
would put my computer to sleep without any problems. On Arch the same command freezes the system. Both screens stay on and show exactly the same picture as before entering the command, but the system is completely unresponsive and the only way to use it again is to turn off the power and reboot.
I then tried to suspend using uswsusp (s2ram), after installing it as described in the wiki. This yields exactly the same results. I have also tried all of the options for s2ram (-f -p -s etc.) listed here.
    My system is as follows:
    Arch x86_64
Mainboard: EP43-S3L (Note: the options listed here don't work either)
Graphics card: ATI RADEON HD 5800 (using the catalyst driver)
I suspect that I have overlooked something and that it isn't really a problem with my hardware, as (like I said) suspend worked flawlessly under Debian.
Thank you very much for your help!
Last edited by bugfix (2012-07-19 08:36:44)

Problem solved. Turns out, there was nothing wrong with the suspend process itself, rather it was the catalyst driver causing the trouble.
I fixed this by adding nomodeset and vga=0 to my start-up options in GRUB's menu.lst.
    kernel /vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda6 ro nomodeset vga=0
nomodeset disables KMS which was responsible for freezing my system when trying to suspend. As I found out, it also froze when trying to shutdown or to switch from X to a Terminal.
vga=0 disables the framebuffer. When the framebuffer is activated with catalyst, the system will suspend properly but show a black screen on resume.
