System frequently crashing after RAM installation
Hi guys, this is probably a common question, but I searched these forums and haven't found exactly what I was looking for, sooo...
I have a Power Mac G4, Dual 1.25 GHz, Mirrored Drive Doors and had 768 MB RAM, and everything worked great. I just bought three 512 MB from Ramjet.com (2.5volt, 184pin, 256Mbit, 400Mhz, PC-3200 DDR400 High Performance SDRAM DIMM) and installed them, replacing the existing 256 MB card for the max of 2GB, which the system does recognize.
Unfortunately, now the computer keeps freezing up- playing World of Warcraft, downloading a video file from Safari, repairing disk permissions, etc... everything seems faster, but eventually it seems, after a while, crashes...
Is there an obvious step I'm missing that I can take before running Apple Hardware Test, like resetting something, or is that the next best step to take (or did i get the wrong RAM- I really hope not)?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... thanks!
Colby
Hi
Many PC RAM suppliers do not have RAM that actually meets Apple's specs.
DDR PC2700 333MHz (Non ECC) 64x64 CL2.5 2.5v 184 Pin DIMM
is the correct spec for your Mac, even though 400MHz RAM may work, I would suggest buying the correct spec, esp. since your Mac clearly does not accept the RAM you have purchased.
DataMemorySystems has the correct spec512 MB cards for $45 a piece.

System (NT4) Crash after Oracle8i installation
My operating system is Win NT4 with Service pack 6a.
Please note that I have loaded Oracle8i Enterprise Edition SUCCESSFULLY on my machine.
But after installation of Oracle8i My system often crashes and goes into memory dump.
My system configurations are are sufficient enough for loading of Oracle8i Enterprise edition.
Can any one help me out in this.Hi,
i have the same problem. So i have seen when ever the system is under stress, may be other services with more priority get memory and cpu time, by example the index server, oracle services crash. I have the servicepack 6a and the "hotfix" installed too, because for win32k.sys crash. So i had the same problem under service pack 5.

Everything keeps freezing/crashing after Mavericks installation on MacBook Pro
Everything keeps freezing/crashing after Mavericks installation on MacBook Pro.
It started with Photoshop, then Safari, and now the Kinect sensor.
Mavericks is the worse thing that happened to me I have a thesis project to work on!
What can I do?
How can I remove Mavericks and go back to Mountain Lion?
ThanksHey StephSassine,
First, I would run through these steps:
Your computer’s startup disk may not have enough free disk space. To make disk space available, you can move files to another disk and then delete files you no longer need on the startup disk:
Increase disk space
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10677
If that doesn't work, you may need to repair your computer’s disk in Disk Utility:
Choose Apple menu > Software Update to make sure you have the latest version of Mac OS X.
Software updates sometimes change a file’s permissions to improve security, so updating your software can solve some permissions problems.
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in Launchpad.
Select the disk you want to check.
Click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions.
via: Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5821
If that doesn't help resolve the issue, you can revert to a previous OS X version:
OS X Mavericks: Revert to a previous OS X version

System crash after patch installation
After the installation of some actual patches the system crashes. I've a SUN Solaris 5.8 installed on a ultra sparc machine. I heard about a patch that leads to a system crash if there are not sysc. mirrors. Does anyone know this patch?
It was'nt possible to send an E-Mail at Noel.del@Rosario
For that reason here is the patch listing:

Frequent Crashes after upgrading to ML (Macbook Pro 15" 2010)
I have been experiencing numerous, frequent crashes ever since upgrading my computer (Macbook Pro, 15", 2010 model) to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard. The crashes appear to be very random; they don't happen at startup and aren't associated with any particular application or action. For example, I once experienced a crash while opening a file in VLC. After restarting, I was able to use VLC without any problems, and instead experienced a crash when opening a bookmark in Safari (which wasn't a problem earlier). In all cases, the screen turns black for a second and then the computer forcibly restarts.
Below I have pasted the details of the error report that the computer wants to send to Apple. I've had nearly 20 of these since upgrading on Wednesday night, and I don't know if they are all the same. But hopefully someone can help me here; I don't know how to interpret this log in order to pinpoint what is causing the problem. This looks a lot like the "kernel panics" that others have reported, but I just don't know what that means or how to fix it.
Also, I ran Software Update and am currently up-to-date.
Thanks so much,
Anthony

Why frequent crashes after iso5 update on ipad1 and iphone3gs
After I updated to iso5 my ipad1 and iphone3gs are experiencing frequent crashes. I find that my wife's iphone4 and my daughter's 4s are working flawlessly.
I just purchased a brand new MacBook Air
I would recommend walking it directly in to the nearest Apple Store and logging your issue with staff there...don't wait. -
AE CC 2014.2 crashes after RAM preview.
Hey,
It crashes almost every time after RAM preview. I think it gives an error, but it's buggy and i can't see it correctly. The error box, the timeline, effects tab etc goes completely black. Can't close the program from anywhere else, only from task manager. And what's even more weird - it doesn't let me do a print screen of the crashed UI. What is there to be done?
Can't imagine it's because of the computer. I've got 32gb of RAM, 4gb graphic card with CUDA, i7. 2-3 months old, works perfect with other programs. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!Does it do it when your RAM preview with just a solid in your project, and nothing else?

Crazy disk usage + frequent crashes after update
After updating to version 35, Firefox has become almost unusable. No other change was made to my system, which worked fine up until the update.
The browser starts and works fine for a few (not consistent) minutes, then starts using the hard drive heavily, slowing down the bowser itself and everything else. Usage has a 'saw' pattern, going regularly from 50% to 90% every couple of seconds. All stops when I close Firefox. I couldn't pinpoint a particular website that triggered this behaviour.
Also the browser has crashed 4 times in less than 48hrs.
Win8.1 64, 16GB ram, Nvidia GT640, all software (including plug-ins) up-to date.
Please advise, thank youWe're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
#Enter ''about:crashes'' in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
#Copy the '''5''' most recent Report IDs that start with '''bp-''' and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
''' Note:''' If a recent Report ID does not start with '''bp-''' click on it to submit the report.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Premiere Pro CS6 crashing after RAM upgrade
I just got Premiere Pro almost a week ago after using FCP for years. I was just getting accustomed to it and thought I would upgrade my RAM to help Dynamic Link run smoother. I doubled it from 4 GB to 8 GB today and now Premiere Pro crashes either immediately or after about 20 minutes. My computer is a 2009 Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz. The new ram is from OWC.com. I ran a RAM test in Tech Tools and it passed as having no problems. Can anyone suggest anything? I would hate to have to go back to 4 GB and be limited to that.
UPDATE:
This problem is not fixed at all. I went about 2 hours without a crash then had about 5 of them in a row. I have been reading everywhere trying to find a place to start. A full system rebuild and reinstall would take me a day or 2 that I don't have. The crashes happen any time, sometimes at startup, sometimes when I'm editing, sometimes when I am not doing anything. I get the "serious error" message and sometimes just get a "quit unexpectedly" along with this log:

Computer Crashes after Ram upgrade
I have a new powerbook (serial # W8544xxxxxx) with the new video card, screen resolution, etc. The system came with 512mb DDR2 ram, and I recently bought another stick of 512 at Newegg.
Now it recognizes it in the system fine, but the computer seems to crash when the computer heats up. When I run processor intensive applications, it will either just freeze or freeze and slowly turn the entire screen white. This happened right after I installed the Ram, never had a problem before.
Is this another part of the lower memory slot problems I've been hearing about?
This is the ram I bought : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227106
The ram works great, until the computer heats up, then it's all downhill.
Any help would be appreciated.
ThanksWelcome to the Apple discussions.
What you're seeing is typical of inexpensive RAM. While RAM may meet the stated DDR2 specs, not all will work with they way Apple's architecture uses the memory. This isn't, btw, limited to the series of PB you own.
Crucial, Kingston (not Valueram line), and Samsung are 3 memory brands that consistently perform well in our PB's. Crucial, for example, guarantees their memory will work if chosen off their memory selector on their web site. You can scan the discussions for other brands that people have found worked, too.
Crucial is at http://www.crucial.com
Kingston is at http://www.kingston.com
Samsung is available from a number of sources, one being OWC at http://www.macsales.com -
2008 Mac Mini Crashes after ram upgrade
I just upgraded my Ram from 1 to 2 GB on my Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo and it was a bad stick so I reaplaced it and it works great but I was typing something in to Firefox to search it and my screen ram multicolored line and a popup came up but I didnt see it because of the lines so I did a hard shutoff and started it back up and it is runing fine. I am still scared to use it because of the crash. Anyhelp?
Hi Zeke,
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem & the Startup right after that for clues. -
Frequent crashes after OSX 10.6.7 update
My mac - last generation Intel iMac 27" has crashed more times in the last few days than the last few years combined. this after software update to OSX 10.6.7. A slowly descending curtain of black with an alert message to restart computer. On reboot, report to Apple refers to kernel panics.
Anyone else have this happen?I've had this very same issue with performance degrading over time on my Mid 2010 iMac (iMac11,3). I originally updated from 10.6.6 to 10.6.7 via software update. Lazy man route. My normal procedure is to download the COMBO system updates which I skipped this time around and thats when things went south for me.
So if you want to attempt applying the COMBO 10.6.7 updater to your system, visit:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
Download the the 1.1GB 10.6.7 disk image to your machine...quit all your open applications...and launch the installer from the disk image and hopefully this clears up your problem. Don't forget to run software update after a successful Combo Update, to make sure you have the latest security patches to go along with it. -
Crashing after Clean Installation Yosemite 10.10.3
Hello guys, I ve a problem since I installed Yosemite 10.10.3 (clean installation). I had the oldest version of Yosemite but when 10.10.3 released I decided to make a clean installation. After a few days I got the first crash and a few minutes ago got the newest. I'm very disappointed because I use Mac OS X 1.5 years now and it's the first time my system crashes. I don't know how to resolve this problem. The only thing I did was a Hardware Test that was fine and a Hard Disk Verification that was also fine. I'll post both of the reports and I'd like your opinion.

Adobe LifeCycle Designer ES4 crashes after SP1 installation
Good Morning to everyone. I have a problem with my Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 since yesterday and I hope that someone can solve it.
Yesterday, I downloaded and installed (German) SP1 for Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4. Download and installation were successful,
but the application crashes during start which did not occur before installation of SP1. I uninstalled the application and installed SP1
again, same problem. Now, it will not start even without installation of SP1.
System protocol (applications) states error 1000:

It seems that the problem results from an access to the mfc90u.dll. But I am unsure why as the application starts fine on another user account...
Is there anything I can do?
Best regards
OliverIt seems that I solved the problem by myself by deleting the 11.0 subdirectory in <AppData>\Roaming\Adobe\Designer.
Afterwards, the application started normally and the settings were created from scratch.
Best regards

ITunes, iPhoto and system clock crash after migrating from Snow Leopard
Hello everyone,
I had MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard but had to migrate to older one with 10.5.8 today.
After 4 hours it finished and everything seems fine except 3 things:
1. iTunes crashes on each launch attempt. I even followed an article to uninstall it, got a new one from apple.com but I still have the same issue.
2. iPhoto opens with success and shows folders overview, but when I click to enlarge a photo I get a blank screen. After about 2 minutes the program quits unexpectedly.
3. System clock behaves really strange. It seems to ignore time zone settings completely. I select Melbourne, Australia and quit Sys preferences but when I get there back I still have GMT time. Setting manually gives me nothing - time of email is still GMT.
Anyone have seen similar problems after migrating? My primary guess is that this issues are caused by migrating to older Mac OS version, but maybe it's not the point. Anyway, would be great to have this fixed. Without iPhoto, iTunes and proper times in e-mail inbox my Mac is pretty useless...I installed this update, restarted but nothing helped. By permissions - what do you exactly mean, how could they change or what could be broken?
I also noticed that what is broken as well are the PYM Player and Quick Time. When I open a movie, I got the sound but no video output at all. It is similar to iPhoto where I see the miniatures but normal size viewing goes blank.
Does anyone has a clue what can be broken that causes such problems?
My Mac is now really just an e-mailing and surfing machine...
