  • Cannot keep Server up and running. Shutdown requested by OVM. The system is going down for system halt NOW!

    I have OVS 3.x.x and OVM 3.x.x running on the same physical server.  I had some issues trying to configure storage via OVM and  I issued a shutdown (I think) from the OVM Web Interface.  Now I am unable to keep the server up and running.  Everytime I turn on the server, after Oracle VM Manager starts, it shuts down the server automatically within a minute or two after startup.
    I am able  to login to the server via Putty and stop ovmm service manually.  When Oracle VM Manager service is stopped, (SERVICE OVMM STOP) the server does not shutdown automatically.  However as soon as I restart the OVMM service, it shuts down the server with message...
    Shutdown requested by OVM. The system is going down for system halt NOW!
    How do I find out what is causing OVM to issue the shutdown command and edit and fix via command line?

    Since your server was continually rebooting, do you remember if you issued a shutdown or reboot from OVM web interface?  Mine was just shutting down.  Have you tried to use the Oracle Virtual Manage Web Interface to either reboot or shutdown the server after your upgrade to 3.2.4?  FYI I do not have support.  This is my sandbox.

    Cowboys try. e9lo3qquu9 3rd letter lowercase L. 4th letter lowercase O. 6th  and  7th letter lowercase Q.  Use that code to go into the BIOS. Disable all passwords that are enabled. If asked for the CURRENT password use that code. If asked for NEW password just hit enter. If asked to VERIFY password just hit enter. Save and exit. REO  I must inform you that these services are not endorsed by HP, and that HP is not responsible for any damage that may arise to your system by using these services. Please be aware that you do this at your own risk.

  • T410 System Halted Without Reason

    It is so frustrated that will have to reboot the laptop at least once almost daily due to the system halted without reason. Is there a way / tool for me to find out on what is causing all this to happen?

    What are your hardware specs?
    I had the same problem -- my T410 has
    * Core i7 620M
    * 8GB RAM
    * Win 7 Ult SP1 (slipstreamed)
    * 500GB Seagate Momentus XT
    * Optimus graphics
    * Intel Centrino 6300
    The issue I found that was freezing the laptop was Optimus Graphics + Intel Centrino 6300. Switching off Optimus graphics & its detection in the BIOS eliminated the freezing (shove-under-the-carpet solution).
    The thread where I've documented this is

    Hi,
    Good to hear it's Ok
    You can remove the need for a power on password as follows - use the code from my previous post where necessary.
    Shut down the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to access the Start-up menu and then select f10 to enter the Bios menu. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Security tab and hit enter. Use the arrow keys again to highlight power on password and hit enter. Enter the current password ( use the code in my previous post ) and then for the new password, just leave this blank and hit enter - do the same for the confirmation field. Press f10, select to save the new settings and hit enter.

    Not sure if you are running into the same issue..
    OVM 3.0.3 - New VM loses filesystem after OS install
    For OEL5 VMs on 3.0.3 you have to add 'xen_emul_unplug=never' to your kernel boot line.

  • SRW248G4P - (!)Loader Binary checksum error - ERR Runtime Loading Fail - System Halt.

    We have this 48 port switch in our engineering department, and it basically stopped passing network traffic.
    When connecting to the Console port and power cycling the switch, this is what I see:
    Image Loader 1.0.1
    Loading Diagnostic Image File : SRW224G4P_SRW248G4P_boot.bix

    This error obviously doesn't look "normal".
    When pressing CTRL-U, I get the following screen:

    I've tried to update the "SRW224G4P_SRW248G4P_image_v1310.bix" file using Xmodem download, but since I really wasn't sure how to use this boot loader tool, I haven't been successful at doing that, nor do I even know if that's the solution for the problem that I'm having.

    I'm guessing that I'll need to contact Cisco tech support, although at least through their web site, they make that nearly impossible to accomplish.
    Does anyone have any suggestions on what may have happened to our switch and what I should do to recover? Of course we're about to start a time-critical round of product testing, and without this switch, I'm dead in the water.  And it's not like we have a spare 48-port PoE switch lying around.

    Hello,
    I got the same issue. After downloading and uploading the firmware, I got the following result and all LED on the switch are glowing. Could you please help on this issue? Where can I find the right firmware. I also have Image loader 1.0.1.

    The SRW is now part of Cisco Small Business. You better ask your question in the Cisco Small Business Support Community. You'll find Cisco people over there...

  • Hardware error system Halted

    Bought 30 computers with Windows 7 to replace XP machines. Made the initial install of all the software needed and assigned static ip addresses and to make sure I didn't have any DOA machines.
    When reattaching a client computer to the network the server 2008 r2 domain controller, has a hardware fault and halts.
    I'm trying to figure out what would cause that to happen. I'm already pulled it and going to re-install windows 7 on it. I'm just want to know what is causing it.
    Anyone with an idea why?
    Thx,
    Bill

    Thanks for the reply.
    The 7 computer itself isn't freezing. It causes the server to blue screen, "Hardware fault" "System Halted". It happens every time it is turned on while connected to the network.
    It has a static IP address. I moved it to another office to test the wiring and it halted the server from that office too. This machine was connected before when I initially set it up with name, IP address and the default software we use and make to make
    sure it wasn't DOA.
    Needless to say I've taken this machine out of service. I'm going to reinstall Win7 on it and then try it again.
    Any other ideas?
    Bill

  • System halt after installation

    Hi,
    i installed Solaris 8 2/02 on an SunFire120. After the installation with the "installation cd" the system rebooted and started the "Web Start Launcher in Command Line Mode". After that he wants to install "Additional Software". The status bar is up to 100% at the beginning and then it seems, that the system halted. You cannot execute any commands oder start a cd. You are not in de OS (no prompt).
    Does anybody have a solution?

    Two suggestion you might try:
    1. Update your video monitor to the latest version.
    2. Put a small delay (around 10 to 100 ms) in all your For and While Loops (including sub VIs). To create a delay, use the the 'Wait' sub VI in the Time & Dialog sub palette. This will force LabVIEW to pause momentarily and let Windows do other stuff....
